Cheeseburgers in Paradise: Memoirs of a Barmaid

Rate this book
Cheeseburgers in ParadiseMemoirs of a BarmaidIn 1996, I found myself living far from home and working in Rota, a town in Andalucía that hosts a huge US military base. After backpacking around Europe for a couple of years, my younger sister Ash joined me in Spain, and we spent our nights serving cervezas and shots of Jägermeister to homesick American sailors. At first, our lives were a heady cycle of working until 3 am, drinking and dancing until dawn, and sleeping all day. But everything changed when Ash was attacked by an AWOL Spanish sailor, setting off a chain of events that we could never have anticipated.

A solid memoir. Made me feel nostalgic for my 20’s while I’m still in them
