Initial Release. See BRINK FISHING for the latest version.
The beach patrol, also known as the turtle watch, reported in at dawn. They found a corpse in the surf. Drew Phillips, an officer with the Florida Wildlife Commission, is called to assist in the murder investigation. Drew calls on his college friend, Dr. McKenzie Haymer, head of the National Marine Fisheries, to assist. This isn’t just any murder. Someone is killing dolphin.

Fishermen have practiced their trade in the earliest chronicles of time. Towns, industries and fortunes were made on whale oil, tuna, swordfish and crab. The intrepid men and women that ply the ocean for her bounty were always the toughest, the most courageous, and the most adventurous of the explorers.

After more than 20 centuries, why is the profession struggling existentially? Is the ocean in so much trouble that even those that love and make their living from her must choose existence over sustainment? Fishing has always been a passion, but is it a passion destined to save the industry or one that could kill it all together?

Drew and Mack are called to investigate the death of a dolphin but find they are stuck in an existential battle for the gray area between catch or release, fish or no fish, and between right or wrong. The bait is aboard, the lines are taut, to catch those responsible for death of a dolphin they will have to go Fishing on the Brink.

Leelon Edwards belongs in North Florida at-large. Home is near the emerald green coastal waters somewhere between the stately oaks, grey with spanish moss, and a cluster of unruly cabbage palms. From Lake Seminole down the river to the broad Apalachicola Bay, from the Florabama to the docks at Cedar Key, there is something tangible about the salty air, the oyster on the half shell, and the bright, warm sun that makes it home. See the osprey soaring over the bay, the turtle sunning on the stump, and hear the call of the whipoorwill at the beginning of summer. Leelon Edwards takes you there like the warm winds blowing north off the Gulf, you'll feel this place in his words and his stories. It's all about being there.

That's the scripted version to promote a pen name that is all about North Florida. My father is Edward Leelon Pipkin Sr and writes SciFi as Ed Pipkin. He pretty much owned the author's name on Amazon after selling over 25,000 eBooks. So, I took my first and middle name, swapped them, and Leelon Edwards was born.

I do tend to like the autonomy that a pseudonym offers. Locally, he's a beach guy, former surfer, scuba diver, sportsman and interested in protecting the Gulf of Mexico. While that's a lot like me, it leaves off some baggage. Hope you like his books!

The author is a close friend of mine. Love seeing and knowing the places of our home years ago. Thank you for the trip back to Bay County. Well written, even though, not my usual genre. Thanks, Ed for your attention to detail.

Very enjoyable and satisfying read for a new author. Excellent connection to the people and places on the Gulf of Mexico setting. Interesting dynamic between saving the fishery and the people that make their living on the water. While that remains a dilemma, the mystery is resolved satisfactorily in a turn-of-events climax. Think I could have written this one! This could find legs as an environmental-mystery...maybe it's a cli-mystery.
