The Sound of Forever

Rate this book
From USA Today Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa comes a heart-wrenching, beautifully layered romance about love, loss, and the unexpected paths that bring us together. With a surprise guardianship, a brooding musician, and a slow-burn connection that will make your heart ache and soar.

Morning yoga classes. Afternoon tea. Peaceful evenings in my perfectly curated apartment. My life was calm, predictable—exactly how I like it.

Until one call shattered my carefully built world.

My sister and I were never close, but her unexpected death left me with more than just grief. It left me her daughter, a girl with wide brown eyes and enough questions to break my heart. Now, I’m thrust into a life I never planned, juggling motherhood and grief.

But if that’s not enough, I meet Keane Stone—a man with a past as broken as mine.

He’s a musician hiding from the world, scarred by a tragedy he can’t forget.

He doesn’t want my help, and I certainly don’t have time for his demons.

But life has other plans.

Somewhere between his haunted melodies and my niece’s innocent laughter, I find myself drawn to him. He’s infuriating, closed-off, and completely unexpected.

Yet, the more I push him away, the more I realize he might be the one to help me rebuild my shattered world.

But how do you heal when the pieces you’re holding don’t seem to fit?

And what happens when the past refuses to stay silent?

The Sound of Forever is a story of healing, hope, and finding family in the most unexpected places.

One Liner: This was quite decent

Keane Stone has been in therapy to rebuild his life and overcome his demons. If only it were as easy as saying it.

Julianna has moved away from the corporate rush to become a yoga instructor. She thinks she finally found peace only for it to be disrupted by the news of her estranged sister’s death. Julianna is now the guardian of her sister’s six-year-old daughter Rayne.

When Keane and Julianna’s paths intersect, neither of them is in a position to handle anything else. However, it seems like they met for a reason and can help each other find a way towards a better future.

The story comes in Keane and Julianna’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

While I disliked The Fault in Forever, I knew I would read this one. That’s because my issue with the first book was Ophelia (I loved Haydn). Since this book is about Keane’s redemption, I was hopeful it would be better (and it was).

The book primarily focuses on grief, mourning, and rebuilding life after a major trauma. The author writes these parts well, so the first half is quite intense but meaningful.

While I did enjoy the slow burn and the bonding between the characters, I felt some of it had been brushed off easily. I wanted to see the moment Rayne softened towards her aunt. I also wanted to see Julianna meet her father and rebuild their relationship. These happened off-page, reducing the impact.

Instead, we get more monologues about the main characters’ feelings for each other. Also, knowing more about the sister would have helped. Maybe even an on-page scene between the FMC and her brother? These little things can make a nice book better and make it wholesome.

One thing I’m relieved about is the lack of Ophelia in this one. NGL, I was worried that there would be some unwanted interaction for Keane to get proper closure but thankfully, she stays off with her guy.

To summarize, The Sound of Forever is an intense book but also hopeful. Could it have been better? Absolutely! However, it is still a worthy book, especially if you read the first one (The Fault in Forever).

Squeeze all my heartstrings! The Sound of Forever by Claudia Burgoa was an emotional and healing heartfelt strangers to lovers romance that had my heart aching and swooning from start to finish. I’m so happy that Keane finally got his very own HEA with Julianna. These two were so perfect for each other.

Dominique Franceschi and Sean Masters perform this audiobook in dual narration. Dominique is a new to me narrator. I loved her soft, soothing tone she created for Julianna encompassing her strength and dedication to Rayne, and her newfound desires for Keane. Sean’s deep, rumbly voice gave Keane so much depth to his various layers. You could hear Keane’s frustrations in Sean’s performance along with his conflicted emotions as he gave into his love for Julianna. Both narrators conveyed so much longing and want between Julianna and Keane that simply made you yearn for these two to be together.

Overall, I loved this book. If you are a fan of a sentimental romance with a hot misunderstood former rockstar, a trauma healing yoga instructor, newfound guardianship, small town, close proximity, yoga classes, an adorable little girl, overcoming grief, advice giving brothers, learning to love again, intimate conversations, new family, and a HEA that will strike the sweetest chord in your heart, then you will love Julianna and Keane’s story. I always look forward to more from Claudia Burgoa.

Surprisingly, this is a happy book and not at all what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, Keane deserves it. I just thought there would be more of a struggle.

Julianna and Keane are made for each other and Rayne wraps them all up with a nice, big bow.

This was a beautiful story that you can’t help to just fall in love with. I was hooked immediately when reading Keane’s journal entries while in rehab battling his addictions. His character is such a lovable guy, the bad boy fighting his demons and healing his past traumas. I fell even more in love watching his relationship with Rayne specifically 🥹
Julianna is just a girl trying to survive when life throws her the ultimate curveball: her estranged sister has passed and she must now care for the niece she never knew she had
It was such a rollercoaster of emotions for me reading about their journey, both together and privately.

A must read when released tomorrow! Thank you The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this arc for my honest review!

5 Star Review The Sound Of Forever by Claudia Burgoa

Set in Luna Harbor, this is musician Keane and Julianna’s story. After the death of her sister Julie finds herself the guardian of her niece Rayne. An extremely emotional, gut wrenching story of two broken souls who while not looking for love, found it anyway.

This was an emotional roller coaster which tore my heart out. There was so many layers to these characters that is felt like I was peeling an onion. With strong writing, you cannot help but be drawn into their story which left me with one heck of a book hangover.

The Sound of Forever

Amazing how two peoples lives change when they realize that they have the opportunity to make the most out of things that they can control. Circumstances that happened made both their lives so different from what they had been. It was not planned but it’s what you make of these events that make your life better or worse. Your choice, beautifully written words, loved this story.

ARC kindly provided for the author in exchange for an honest review

A few days ago I wrote in my review that I had kind of hated Keane Stone in The Fault in Forever, what I didn't mention was that I was dying to read his redemption because I knew that Claudia Burgoa would do justice to this character's demons when his time for a second chance came, and so it was! Also, The Sound of Forever has a love story that I could connect with a lot more, that felt organic, natural and that is full of the most tender and touching moments, and the best plus: returning to Luna Harbor by the hand of these characters.

Julianna seems to have her life figured out and stable when this book begins, but her personal story is much more complex: with family drama, hidden truths, and a niece she suddenly needs to take care of when her sister dies, a fact that turns Jules' life upside down because her relationship with Elena was complicated and discovering the whole situation behind it throughout the book made me very angry and I wanted to protect this girl. I also loved that Claudia showed us the complexity of motherhood through the relationship between Julianna & Rayne, another aspect that broke my heart for both of them, BUT that shows how brave and strong our fmc is, as well as how kind, sweet, and loving her heart is.

I was almost sure that I was going to love Keane after reading this book, but despite that I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. I LOVED that the author showed us all the parts of his rehabilitation and healing through his journal entries: the constant struggle with his demons, how he admits he was selfish during his relationship with b>Ophelia and does everything in his power to ask for forgiveness, how he finally begins to grieve for everything he lost since his accident, and how, despite isolating himself from the world, he lets the people around him support him and learns to ask for help too.

One of the things I loved most about this book (and that I missed from the previous book) was the way Claudia presented the love story of Julianna & Keane: how everything happens between them, how naturally they fit into each other's lives, and how they both confide their inner struggles in the most organic way. I also loved that Keane and Jules are unwittingly helping each other heal, that Keane has such a strong and natural connection with Ray, that their relationship helps her come to terms with her loss while also giving the little girl someone to rely on outside of her family circle. Plus, these characters share touching, sweet, and very tender moments that make their love feel even more natural and beautiful.

🎸Narrators: Sean Masters & Dominique Franceschi

The Sound of Forever is one of my favorite Claudia Burgoa stories, which is why I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook, as well and fall in love with Keane, Julie & Rayne all over again!

One of my favorite things about TFIF was the chapters narrated by Sean Masters, because he conveys Keane’s anguish so well, so hearing it again in TSOF, especially the journal entries and letters was AMAZING! I also loved hearing Keane find himself, his music, and pouring his heart out to Rayne in such a sweet way.

Dominique Franceschi was the PERFECT Juliana too: giving me the most heartbreaking moments with her family history, her struggle to raise little Rayne, and also the peace her character conveys when she’s teaching, doing yoga, and helping Keane come to terms with her new reality.

And the thing is, I loved these two’s love story because Keane and Julianna help each other heal their wounds, overcome their pasts, and start over without realizing it. Plus, they’re unconditionally there for each other, and it melted my heart to hear them fall in love again.

Claudia Burgoa has done it again! I absolutely loved The Sounds of Forever; an incredible love at first sight love story. Claudia Burgoa continues to show that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be a must-read author for me. I was hooked from the first few pages, and it was impossible to put The Sounds of Forever down, and I loved every moment on every page. The Sounds of Forever is a love story between Julianna Valencia and Keane Stone, former musician. Julianna learns that her older sister, Elena, is near death and that Elena has appointed her the guardian of Rayne, her six-year-old daughter. Rayne is having a hard time adjusting to Elena’s passing, so Julianna decides to take her to a home her family used to have in Luna Harbor. Julianna is estranged from her father, so she is unaware of the changes he has made at the house. Love what happens when she attempts to enter the house. Keane recently awakens from a coma following an accident five years ago. After working to recover his mobility and memory, Keane attends a ninety-day rehab to make sure that he stays clean and sober. I love his journal entries, especially the ones that detail his relationship with his former fiancée, Ophelia Foster. Julianna and Keane are neighbors. Rayne visits with Keane and he helps her with adjusting to her mother’s death and living with Julianna. As Julianna, Rayne, and Keane spend time together, things begin to change between them and that things change for Keane. I love the chemistry between Julianna and Keane. I love the conversations between them flow so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Keane constantly flirting. I love the heart-to-heart conversations that take place in The Sounds of Forever. Julianna shares her secrets about her life and her past, Keane shares his own secrets about his family and his fears and insecurities. I love everything that Keane does for Julianna, especially all the little things he does letting her know that he is thinking about her. One of my favorite parts are the letters from Julianna’s late mother, and how they give her closure and help her with raising Rayne. I love Keane’s journal entries and that he starts playing music again. There is plot twist that threatens Julianna’s custody of Rayne. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I love everything that is discovered about Keane’s past and what happened five years ago. I love that Keane recovers from being broken and how his life changes because of Julianna and Rayne. I love how Claudia Burgoa always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. My favorite part is how Claudia Burgoa incorporated the title of the book into the love story with a song by Keane. The Sounds of Forever is filled with the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and plot twists and surprises that I have come to love and expect in a Claudia Burgoa love story, and she did not disappoint in the delivery of these things in this page turner. I love the ending of this love story and how it is the perfect ending of their love story. I love Keane’s proposal. Another favorite part of a Claudia Burgoa love story is always the epilogues that go above and beyond the happily ever after. I love the surprises revealed in the epilogue. I love the characters in The Sounds of Forever, they feel like family and friends. I love that Julianna reconciled with her father. I loved catching up with characters from other Claudia Burgoa books. Who does not love a family that always has each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed The Sounds of Forever, who does not love a he falls first love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story and am so looking forward to reading the other Claudia Burgoa books. I received an advance copy from the author.

When I first started this book, I was so lost. I didn't know who some of the characters were or Keane's backstory but I kept reading. I did end up turning to Amazon to see what I missing, if I was. Turns out this is book 5 in this series, which I totally overlooked. Once I realized this, things started to click into place. I did fine with the book but I'd highly recommend reading the other books in the series first. Or at least reading Keane's story prior to this one. I think doing so would've made this story that much more profound.

Having said all that, I did enjoy this book. It's a slow burn, but with Keane recently out of rehab, that's probably best for his circumstances.

Keane has lived his life as an extremely selfish SOB. His parents were famous so he became used to the posh lifestyle. He's never had to do anything for himself, including making his own food. He grew up around drugs and alcohol. At 12 years old, he partook of the substances always around him. When he became a famous rockstar, he continued to use. Before this book, his story is told of being in a car wreck resulting in a coma for years. He lost everything with that accident. Everything. He's now fresh out of rehab and needs to get away from the place that reminds him of the life he once had.

Julianna has gone from working around the clock, always trying harder to be more, to slowing down and finding her footing. She learned about trauma informed yoga and is now an instructor. Her solitude is suddenly disrupted when she answers a random phone call from a guy telling her that her sister is in the hospital and doesn't have long. She and her sister no longer have a relationship so she knows nothing about what she's walking into when she arrives at the hospital. She meets her niece that she didn't know she had. Rayne is 6 years old and Julianna didn't even know her sister was pregnant.

After her sister passes away, Julianna finds herself living in a small apartment with her niece, who won't talk to her. They aren't bonding and it's discouraging. Julianna's estranged father has a family home in Luna Harbor, that is sitting vacant but furnished. Hoping this is the answer to the two building a relationship, they pack up and head out.

Keane thought he would be alone in Luna Harbor. He was told the house next to the one he's staying in doesn't have anyone living there. Imagine his surprise when he sees a woman and young girl there. Over the days, he meets Rayne and gets her to talk to him. He also decides to attend a yoga class in town, which happens to be a trauma informed yoga class that Julianna leads. He recognizes her as his neighbor and knows he needs to keep his guard up.

Since they live next door to each other in a beautiful area, they run into each other while enjoying the outdoors around them. They aren't able to stay away from each other, but fight the feelings forming. Keane doesn't feel good enough for anyone. Julianna has so much going on that she can't really focus on her love life. They're able to remain friends, until something happens with Rayne and they're pulled together closer than ever before.

Since I didn't read previous books, I was worried this one would end in a cliff hanger or I just wouldn't get closer with this book having a happily ever after. I'm happy to say the HEA is there and great.

I want to thank The Author Agency and Claudia Burgoa for allowing me the opportunity to read the ARC of this book. I loved the healing Keane experienced throughout this book.

"...She's the sound of my soul, pulsing with life I forgot could exist, the quiet melody of something long lost rediscovering its song. Every part of her demands to be heard, even when I feel unworthy of the music." - Keane Stone

Claudia Burgoa's slow-burning, strangers-to-lovers book The Sound of Forever examines themes of love and life's rebirth, loss, and redemption. The plot centers on Julianna Valencia, a trauma-healing yoga instructor who unexpectedly became the guardian of a 5-year-old niece, and Keane Stone, a former rock star who awoke from a 5-year coma.

"Keane's voice carries so much, love, pain, hope... it feels as if it's coming from someplace personal. It's not just a lullaby- it's a piece of him, something he's offering to her without expecting anything in return." - Julianna Valencia

This story is like a continuing epilogue of its predecessor as the book shows Keane's path to recovery and a fresh start. His character arc has been written so profoundly that you can sense every regret, pain and anguish he's been chronicling in those journals.
Julianna's character is multifaceted, having a backstory with family drama, hidden truths and revelations through those letters and a long overdue discussion with her father. While her character highlights the challenge of motherhood through her efforts to connect with Rayne, you can't help but admire her fortitude and drive in navigating the hardships of motherhood while discovering the truths about her family's past.
This book is incredibly captivating, with amazing character development.

There is an innate connection between Julianna and Keane. It was made more delightful and natural by the way they both open up about their inner battles in the most organic way, the selfless acts they do to support one another's healing, their instinctive bond with Rayne, and the soft, precious times they share.

Claudia has skillfully written a book that captures a perfect harmony of tension, drama, sweet moments, and profound emotions. She is undoubtedly skilled at drawing her readers in, getting them to flip the pages, and making them fall in love with her books.

Starting as a melancholy tale that ends in a crescendo of a fulfilling conclusion and a gratifying happy ending, The Sound of Forever is a heartwarming tale of hope, healing and finding a family in the most unlikely circumstances that will strike a chord in your heartstrings.

This is a standalone book in The Luna Harbor and it is Julianna and Keane’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Keane had a serious accident five years ago which left him in a coma and now a year later and he is in Luna Harbor where it is quiet after he came out of a recovery program so now he was hoping that eventually he would be able to get some normality back in his life especially as his cravings in his previous life that caused him to completely lose everything and along with that comes all the regrets and the demons that he still carries so now he is hoping that his love of music will eventually help him get through this nightmare but at the moment even that seems to have abandoned him but his biggest regret was losing Ophelia who was the person who was his everything and understood him better than anyone else but she found someone else to love and he walked away realising that it was the best thing that he could do for her after everything that he had put her through. Julianna had gone through her own type of hell and moved away to restart her life so now she ran a yoga studio as yoga helps her to stay focused, motivated and calm which helps her work through everything but when she gets a call from a lawyer telling her that her sister Elena is dying and had named Julianna as the legal guardian of her daughter Rayne who is six years old she is in shock because not only did she not get on with her sister but she also didn’t know that she had a niece and now she knew that her life is about to change. When Julianna had trouble getting through to Rayne she decided to take her to live in Luna Harbor to see if it would help her get through to Rayne and connect with her while going through all the loss and grief of her mother. When Julianna and Rayne meet and start spending time together with Keane for some reason everything starts to fall into place but with all the lose, baggage, trust issues and everything that had happened and also what they had all been through will they be able to build a future together eventually and all start to move forward with their lives. Wow this book will take you on the biggest rollercoaster ride of emotions so get the tissues ready because you are definitely going to need them while reading this book. I absolutely loved this story and I read it in one sitting because the storyline pulled you in right from the beginning and kept your attention throughout the whole book and I couldn’t put it down as it was so engaging and addictive and you felt like you were there going and living through everything with them and Julianna and Keane are so perfect together and for each other and they really deserved to have happiness, a future and be a family together after everything that they had all been through and I really loved the outcome for them. Claudia Burgoa is a amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to engage her readers and have them turning the pages and becoming addicted to her books and I can’t wait to read more of her books in the future.

The Sound Of Forever by Claudia Burgoa is an emotional and heart wrenching story about Keane Stone and Julianna Valencia. If you like a bad boy getting redemption. A woman getting a loving relationship after experiencing one that wasn’t and an adorable six year old girl who becomes the catalyst to bring these two together. Can they forget the past, rebuild their lives, have a relationship and become a family, something they never thought they’d ever have.

This book follows on from The Fault In Forever and I strongly recommend you read that first to fully understand Keane’s backstory.

Oh my heart went out to Keane as we followed his journey at the rehabilitation centre as he struggled both emotionally and physically. After five years in a coma, he woke up to find he’d lost everything; his career, parents, fiancée and daughter. Feeling empty, broken and lost, he now has to face reality and acknowledge the reasons behind his old behaviour. The mistakes he made, the regrets, guilt and grief but mostly how he failed Ophelia. He must accept he had to let her go so she could be loved the way she deserved.

His brother Rowan suggests a recovery centre in Luna Harbour so he moves into a secluded cabin by the lake.Keane doesn’t feel ready but it’s a second chance at life, to exist anonymously without expectations or judgement if only he can put the pain of the past behind him.

Out of the blue Julianna becomes the guardian for her niece, when her sister dies. Rayne is six years old and they have never met. Rayne hates her and wants her mum. After two months of struggling and feeling a failure, Jules moves them to her family’s lake house in Luna Harbour.

Their arrival disturbs Keane’s peace and solitude. The little girl and her bunny unsettles him but they surprisingly connect and he’s so good with her. There’s a spark between him and Jules and he’s fascinated by her calming and understanding ways. Is it a coincidence or fate they have ended up as neighbours.

A slow burn relationship as lots of issues to overcome for both of them. It was lovely how they both gradually open up and remind them they are not alone. I loved the letters he wrote to Ophelia, the yoga sessions with Jules
and cooking with Rayne. Be prepared because the kite incident and the revelations about her sister are heartbreaking.

Can she push past his barriers and get to know the real man underneath? Will he forgive himself, find some hope for the future, figure out how to change and be the man for her? Can he find the music again when it’s all mixed up with his guilt, loss and memories?

This author has such a talent for writing emotional stories and this one will definitely pull at your heartstrings. I found I had to stop reading every so often to allow myself a moment before continuing. Regardless of his past, I felt Keane fully deserved to find love and a family with Jules and Rayne. A stunning read which I fully recommend.

The first part of this book is blabby, lots of thoughts, like setting the stage for the emotional whammy the author is going to serve us during the book. The book is like a continuation of The Fault in Forever, since this is Keane Stone’s story. He had been in an car accident with his fiancée Ophelia, both almost died, she recovered, but Keane was in a coma for five years. Ophelia found another love and he now has the long lonely journey into rehabilitating his body from the coma. I loved this book because it presents us the character arc of Keane as he transitions from a selfish drug addict into a decent guy who lives for someone new.

First Keane went into rehab for ninety days to deal with his former addiction, to make sure he won’t fall back as he struggles with his many emotional and physical issues. Then he moves to Luna Harbor, a small town, where he can have peace and space. And there he meets his destiny!

Julianna was estranged from her older sister since their mother died. Elena was a difficult person, and she hoarded all their mother’s possessions and shut out Julianna and her brother Oscar. When she receives a phone call informing her that her sister is dying and she’s been appointed guardian of her little girl, she’s floored. She may be estranged from her sister but she was not ready to lose her. She takes her niece Rayne and moves to Luna Harbor so they can both mourn the loss of Elena and give them a chance to adjust together. Both are struggling as they try to belong together.

One thing that felt like serendipity is that Keane and Ophelia were having a baby, but the baby didn’t survive the accident. She would have been six years old, and that’s exactly Rayne’s age when they meet. So it felt like kismet, a chance for Keane to make amends and repair his heart as he learns to care and protect another little girl. I think Rayne was instrumental in Keane’s emotional growth.

The story is romantic, slow burn, positive and redemptive. At some moments, Keane had doubts he would come out of the dark cloud he was living in, unsure he would get his music back. And in the end, he not only got the music, he got a family too!

I love this author’s stories because they center around an angsty story. There is sex, but as is necessary to the story. She hasn’t fallen into the habit of other authors of using lots of sex scenes to make her books more commercial and for this she’s earned my admiration and respect. Julianna and Keaton click because she brings peace and acceptance into his world, and he gives her the strength and protection she strongly needs at this point in her life.

Lovely story, very emotional and heartwarming!

A Beautifully Moving Story & Listen🎧 Riveting & Heartfelt!

The Sound of Forever
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Sean Masters, Dominique Franceschi

Claudia Burgoa delivers a beautiful story that grabs your attention and your heartstrings right from the start and doesn’t let them go to the very end. This story is Julianna’s and Keane’s story and both their lives have been through the wringer and recently moved to Luna Harbor. Julianna’s estranged sister passed away, leaving her young daughter, Rayne, in her care, and it has not been a smooth transition. At her wit’s end, her brother suggests moving to their father’s vacation home in Luna Harbor for a change that may help them both. Keane Stone’s back story is heartbreaking, filled with loss, past mistakes and regrets, which he reflects upon in his own head. He was not expecting to have neighbors, but slowly they worm their way into his wounded and icy heart and thawing it slowly. Wow, Burgoa did not hold back pouring emotions into this story and each one hits you right in your heart and she has outdone herself bringing broken characters together whose pieces fit together perfectly and they were just what they needed, each other. I loved how everything played out in this book, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and a slow burn, but so worth the wait, romance. Like all her books, the writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. This beautiful story of healing, hope, and finding family will make you cry, then warm your heart and make you smile. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional roller coaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  Sean Masters and Dominique Franceschi did a fabulous job voicing the characters and delivering a spot-on portrayal of each. I loved how they took their roles and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Sean Masters rocks Keane’s role, grasping every aspect of his personality, nailing his inner turmoil, his grumpiness, all the way to his caring side, growing along with his character by the end. This is my first time listening to Dominique Franceschi, she was fantastic cover the female roles, and aced it in Julianna’s role, showcasing all sides of her personality, from her compassion and caring side to her insecurities and frustration, and all in between, she was great with voicing Rayne, too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

If you like a healing, small town romance with musician vibes, then The Sound of Forever is the book for you. Written as a standalone, this fast paced, emotional, found family romance is a well written book that readers are sure to enjoy.

Keane is the typical moody musician, he poured his blood sweat and tears into his music, so much so that when it ended he couldn’t cope and turned to what all musicians turn to. Drugs and liquor. This led him to spiral both in his music and his life and ultimately into a coma for five years. Not only did this accident cause him to lose five years of his life, but something so precious it stops his breath. Now in the quiet small town of Luna Harbor, he strives to rebuild the little life he has left in him, not expecting much, simply wanting to live his life as quietly as possible.

Too bad fate has other plans for him.

Juliana is your average girl, living an average life, all up until she receives a call about her sister. A sister she hasn’t seen in nearly a decade is sick, ready to pass on and is leaving her young daughter in her care. A niece that she has never met, nor even knew existed up until now. At the advice of her brother, Juliana and Rayne return to their family summer home in Luna Harbor in hopes of helping Rayne come to terms with her mothers death.

When Rayne and Julianna move into the house next to Keane, he thinks nothing of it, but when she starts hosting therapy yoga in town their paths are bound to cross more and more. The trio embarks on a journey of healing, hope and found family all while dealing with the pain of a broken heart.

Wow what a heart wrenching story. This author has such a beautiful way of showcasing heart break but also turning it into something meaningful and moving. Keane, Julianna and Rayne are all suffering for different reasons, but the three of them each need each other for different reasons to heal and that is what makes the book so good. Each takes time to open up their heart to the other, to be vulnerable and then finally to see them happy together again was just perfect.

I loved this emotional, and steamy romance between two broken souls, and what happens when their worlds collide. This is Keane and Julianna's heartbreaking yet beautiful story of tragedy and learning to live again. It starts with Keane journaling his time in rehab after waking up from a coma after a tragic accident. He was a famous musician who lived selfishly as an addict, and lost those he loved after not appreciating them until now. He finally is released and has secluded himself in Luna Harbor, and he is not happy when new neighbors move in. Julianna's main focus was working hard but has left that behind for a more peaceful existence. That is until her estranged sister passes suddenly and willed her to be the guardian to her young daughter, Rayne, who Julianna never knew about. They are both heartbroken over the loss and having a hard time bonding. Julianna takes Rayne to a family home in Luna Harbor, hoping a change will be good for them both and they can find some kind of normal. They slowly connect to their broken but kind neighbor. The three of them have come into each other's lives just when they needed each other most. They are three broken people with emotional scars who are drawn to each other. They help each other face their heartache, and build strength to heal. It wasn't easy as they stumbled along the way, but found joy, and learned to live and love again. I love Keane, Julianna, and Rayne. They are smart, and sensitive, and their strength and resilience to overcome their anguish was extraordinary. Their touching relationship thru their rollercoaster journey took my breath away.
This gripping and emotional story of loss, healing, redemption, and love is made even more emotional and fun by narrators Sean Masters and Dom Franceschi. They did an amazing job bringing out the complex emotions that Keane and Julianna struggled with. Their voices and accents for all the different characters were well done, including little Rayne. They are a perfect team, allowing me to be totally immersed in this world.

WOW!!!! Claudia's writing is absolutely amazing. She knows how to tear your heart open and make you feel so many things but then she will stitch you back up piece by piece with such beauty. The story and the characters were well written. I was hooked from the first page and she kept me wanting more even after it ended. I didn’t want to see these characters go.

Julianna had a tough childhood and she found away to move past everything with therapy yoga. Her life has finally found a calm to it until one day she receives an unexpected call saying her sister didn't have much time left. She was never close to her sister but she knew she needed to go there to see her. But now not only does she lose her sister but she gains a niece she never met and knew nothing about. Her life is about to change.

Keane is struggling to get back into life. After waking up from being in a coma for 5 years and finally getting his body back into functioning form he's struggling with reality of life. Everyone thinks he's dead and he still can't forgive himself for the accident that caused him to be in the coma. But when Julianna ends up moving in next door to him things start to change for him. Rayne the six year old next door is closed off just like he is but it starts to make him want to open up more. Julianna gets him to start doing therapy yoga with her. Slowly but surely his life starts changing.

This is a heartbreaking story but beautiful at the same time. I had moments I wanted to cry but I also did a lot of smiling in this book as well. I loved seeing how they slowly start opening up to each other. This story is about healing, love, found family, and forgiveness. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend this book and this series.

Thank you The Author Agency for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

3.5 Star read.

The Sound of Forever follows Keane’s story of recovery and redemption after he wakes from a coma. We first meet him in The Fault in Forever, even though it’s not needed, I’d highly recommend you read it prior to this one.

Keane is struggling to get his life back on track and is worried he’s going to fall back into old habits, after spending some time in a rehab facility he decides to move to Luna Harbour in hope it will help with his recovery.
He meets Julianna when she moves in next door, she has suffered her own trauma’s and is now the guardian to her 6 year old niece after the death of her estranged sister.
The pair are instantly drawn to each other but Keane is worried about repeating past mistakes and doesn’t think he’ll ever be good enough, and Julianna’s priority is her niece Rayne.

I didn’t think much of Keane at the start of this story but he soon grew on me as he worked through his issues, showing through his diary entries that he was able to recognise the hurt he had caused and was trying hard to change his ways for the better. The bond he builds with Rayne is lovely and it’s her that eventually pulls Julianna and Keane closer together.

I did find this book quite difficult to get into at first and struggled to remain engaged but I was pleased I stuck with it. There were a few parts of the story that I feel could of been taken a little bit further, especially with Rayne’s paternal family and I would of like to have seen a bit more of Keane’s recovery.

That being said, I did still enjoy this story. I liked how Keane and Julianna’s relationship developed slowly, giving them chance to open up to each other by sharing their pasts and insecurities, helping them both to heal. The family they become at the end was so well deserved after everything they each had to go through to get there and it was such a great ending for them.

This was a sweet story of mutual healing filled with great tenderness.
Keane and Jules both have struggles and pains they are coming to terms with. Keane's are both physical and psychological. Having woken up from a coma after 5 years, we first get a good unfiltered look into his state of mind when he's in rehab for several months.

He was an addict, and the accident has left him with a loss of self, of loved ones and loss of his music. His healing journey crosses paths with his neighbor, Jules, who assists him in private yoga lessons to help him come to peace with his mind and body. I really loved how he bonded with Jule's little niece, it provided a way for him to heal a particular pain from the car accident. His softness emerges as does his music.

The baby steps they each take with one another in their healing was lovely to see. There are some time gaps I felt were a bit jarring or felt like another scene should been there and some passages I wish delved in deeper rather than the summaries they were. I'd liked to have seen more separate scenes of them bonding and connecting, just felt a bit fast. I wanted to know more about the physical effects of his accident too, other than just scars on his hands, he had a lot of recovery from post coma only hinted at. I also have no idea how old they are. The latter third of the story just seemed rushed to me too.

It's a quicker read at 280 pages and if you want some sweet but also raw healing from past pains and struggles with two souls that find a soothing balm in one a other, than this has that. I just felt the momentum stalled about 40% in or so and felt like things were getting glossed over between their connection and no longer driving into their internalizations anymore.

The Sound of Forever is a follow-up standalone to The Fault In Forever. Admittedly, I wasn't much of a fan of Keane's while reading TFiF — until I got to that bonus chapter from his POV. So I was very excited that he was getting his own book, because I really wanted this broody, broken musician to start living life again after his five-year coma and find his other half.

And he finds that in Julianna. They seem to be a very unlikely pair — he's a loner and she's a free-spirited yoga instructor. At least at first glance. But these two characters are both dealing with so much grief and are unsure how to manage their current station in life. Keane is trying to piece himself back together after a life-changing car accident. I loved getting to know him through his journal entries while he was in rehab, and getting inside his head to see just how devastated he was by the way things fell apart with Ophelia. Meanwhile, Julianna has suddenly and unexpectedly found herself the guardian of her estranged sister's daughter. She and Rayne are strangers to one another, struggling with navigating their new situation. Then in comes Keane, and he somehow manages to bridge the gap between them. All the while, Julianna helps Keane realize there's more for him in life than what he's resigned himself to after his accident. She and Rayne make him want to be a better person. And together, these three broken souls heal one another.

Parts of this story felt rushed to me, and I thought there was an unnecessary road bump with Rayne's biological father that came out of nowhere. The story would have been fine without that twist, in my opinion. I was much more invested in Julianna repairing her relationship with her own estranged father, and I would have liked to have seen more of that. But at its core, The Sound of Forever was a lovely story about grief, healing, hope, and second chances.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

🔥Slow burn

"Grief doesn't just steal the person or the life you knew. It steals the version of you that existed with them. And what's left behind feels wrong, unrecognizable."

Julianna lost her sister. and became the guardian to her 6 year old niece. A Niece she didn't know she had.

Keane has been in a coma for the last 5 years. his family mourned him a long time ago, believe he would never wake up. And while he was "gone", life moved on - his fiance found a new relationship and was soon to be married. His parents died. And the baby his fiance was carrying, died the night of the accident.

Both desperate for a change; an opportunity to heal and rebuild. Both plagued with trauma of loss and the fear of not knowing if life will ever feel like you're not drowning. They find each other. And Juliana's little niece, Rayne, might just be the glue that bonds them.

Claudia Burgoa wrote a phenomenal book! She writes about grief in such a way that it will change your perspective on bereavement, grief and mourning. It's not linear. And she invites us on Julianna and Keane's journey. It feels like a privilege. A gift from her to us, the reader.

Their romance is a slow burn and i wouldn't have it any other way. It was important that they stay in their messy feelings and slowly untangle them before they could jump into anything. I had cried about 4 times before I was 30% into the book, so grab your tissue box, a warm cup of something and a cozy blanket, you'll thank me for it later.

I received a free ARC of this book, and this review is only my opinion.

Broken souls and the emotional path to healing

‘The Sound of Forever is a story of healing, hope, and finding family in the most unexpected places.’

The statement above is the perfect and best description of this story. Keane is a musician recovering both mentally and physically from an accident that left him in a coma for 5 years. He’s trying to navigate a life that went on without him while he’s been absent for so long. Julianna left the stress of the corporate world and practices and teaches therapeutic yoga to help her recover from past events. She becomes a guardian for her 6-year-old niece, Rayne, that she didn’t know about after her estranged sister passed away unexpectedly. If there were ever three people that needed healing, it’s them. Their paths lead them to the small town of Luna Harbor where they are neighbors.

This is a slow burn, extremely emotional story. I actually appreciated that the author really delve deep into these characters and I was invested and hopeful for their HEA. It’s sad but beautiful watching them navigate through recovery and learning to love again. They really had to work for it and there’s so much more beyond Keane and Julianna’s relationship. The support of the community of Luna Harbor adds to the story. There is family drama and pasts that they must face. Overall, it’s a rollercoaster and I enjoyed every bit of the ride.

I enjoyed this as a standalone story. However, immediately I realized there were books preceding this one and I can’t wait to go back and read about the others from this community. Another hit by Claudia Burgoa.

This was the sequel that I needed for Keane! Thank you to the author for giving him his own story and showing that the path to happiness may require some hard work, but it’s worth the effort!

Keane is a broken soul- attempting to regain life after a tragic accident. Everything he was before the accident was tied to a lifestyle he no longer has, or wants. Coming out of rehab, he’s looking to figure out who he is, and how he wants to live his life, without the career and many of the loved ones that were part of his former existence. Everyday is monotonous, full of therapy and journaling.
After moving to Luna Harbor to continue healing, he meets his neighbor, Julianna, and her niece Rayne . Having also gone through a recent tragedy, Rayne is drawn to Keane, and begins to build a relationship with him. Julianna, a yoga instructor, also finds herself drawn to the quiet, moody Keane. Both are on a path they never expected to be walking. Julianna recently got custody of her niece after her sister’s death, and is trying to help the heartbroken little girl.

Their love story is a slow burn- Keane is hesitant to repeat past mistakes, and still learning to trust himself. I was so happy to see him confront his past, and the losses that resulted from his choices, come out the other side of that journey and find love. Julianna, with her background, was the perfect partner for him. And the way he instantly bonded with Rayne was beautiful and heartbreaking.

While this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend the first book, The Fault in Forever, to better understand Keane’s back story. It is covered in detail in this book though.

Beautiful and emotional

With THE SOUND OF FOREVER Claudia Burgoa has delivered a beautiful and emotional story about grief, loss, healing, new beginnings, and unexpectantly finding love. Although it is a standalone, I do highly recommend reading The Fault In Our Forever beforehand, as this story gives background and a greater understanding of the trauma and pain Keane experienced.

Julianna Valencia has recently lost her sister and become guardian to a six-year-old niece, Rayne, she never knew she had. She uproots them both and moves to an old family home in Luna Harbor to start a new life together. Keane Stone has recently awoken from a five year coma brought on by a tragic accident. Upon waking he learnt everything about his life was either gone or changed. Keane was once a famous musician, but now he can't even put together lyrics or music. Moving to Luna Harbor he hoped to recover, heal, and work out where his life was now headed.

THE SOUND OF FOREVER is an emotional story of two broken people searching for peace and contentment in their lives. I loved the friendships which developed between Kean and Rayne and Keane and Julianna, watching how they all fit together so perfectly, healing each other of the past and bringing light to the present and the future. I devoured this book and it was easy to do, the need to know everything was going to be ok kept pulling me in deeper.

Don't miss the chance to read this amazing story.

I just finished The Sound of Forever, and it was such a beautifully emotional read! Claudia has a way of crafting stories that tug at your heartstrings, and this book was no exception. It’s a deeply moving tale of love, healing, and second chances that kept me hooked from start to finish.

The characters were so well-developed and relatable. The protagonist’s journey—whether it was overcoming grief, rediscovering love, or finding strength within themselves—felt raw and authentic. The romance was both tender and passionate, with moments that made my heart ache and others that left me smiling. Claudia’s ability to balance emotional depth with moments of levity is one of the things I love most about her writing.

The supporting cast added richness to the story, creating a sense of community and connection that made the world feel alive. The themes of forgiveness and hope were beautifully woven throughout, making the ending all the more satisfying.

While I loved the book, there were moments where the pacing felt a bit slow, especially in the middle. Some plot points were predictable, but they didn’t take away from the overall impact of the story.

Overall, The Sound of Forever is a heartfelt and captivating romance that fans of Claudia Y. Burgoa will adore. If you’re looking for an emotional journey with complex characters and a meaningful love story, this one is definitely worth picking up. A solid 4 stars!

What an amazing book! However, please read The Fault in Forever first. I think that book helps you get a full picture and understanding of Keane. Now at the end of The Fault in Forever I truly disliked Keane and I’m glad that the author was able to redeem his character. Keane was a rock star who was using drugs and not always making the best choices. He was involved with Ophelia and they were expecting a baby when they were in an accident. Ophelia lost the baby and Keane was in a coma, although people were told that he had died. Now on the road to recovery, he’s learning to walk, heal and live a drug free life. The beginning of the book is his 90 days in rehab where he talks a lot about Ophelia. Now that he is out he has decided to rehabilitate himself in a small lake town, near his sponsor while he tries to figure out his life. Next door Julianna and her six year old niece move in. Julianna is going through a rough transition too. Her sister died and she is now responsible for her niece who she is having a hard time connectIng to. Julianna is also discovering things about her sister and her childhood. This is a very emotional book about two people trying to adjust to their new normal. Their friendship and eventual relationship slowly progress as they open up and discuss their lives in these heartfelt deep conversations. If you love realistic love stories that tug at your heartstrings you definitely need to read this book.

I loved experiencing Keane working through his demons and finding his forever with Julianna and her niece Rayne. I felt for Keane as he went through therapy and started to work through his past and then when he moved to Luna Harbor to continue his journey. I felt his pain, sorrow and guilt as he tried to move on and find a new life for himself. Juliana and Rayne were consumed by grief when they met Keane, and I loved watching the three of them grow closer as they healed. Assisting Rayne through her grief enabled him to resume creating music, even though his music had changed. The three of them formed a family and supported each other as they healed. I loved the epilogue.
Claudia Burgoa’s books always have some angst included, but in this one, I loved that the potential issue with Rayne’s paternal family was resolved without drama and allowing Rayne to be part of both her maternal and paternal families. I am left wanting to learn more about Oscar and how he dealt with the breakup of his parents’ marriage and to see Oscar and Juliana’s dad find someone to spend the rest of his life with. I have not yet read a book by Claudia Burgoa that I didn’t greatly enjoy and look forward to more in this series.

Have you ever read a story that made you feel seen?
Claudias writing is not only well-structured, but it’s also thought provoking. Writing that helps you connect with the characters. I absolutely loved how the story was fast paced, but informative. You got to see glimpses of Keane’s healing journal.
This is a story you’ll need a box of tissues for.

Keane, use to pour his life into music, but when that stopped he was at a low point that’s when drugs & liquor became a cocktail. A car accident leaving him in a coma for 5years. Now in Luna Harbor, he's looking back on his life, trying to quiet the noise of Seattle. Ophelia was the one who got away because of his selfishness and wrong doing. The accident, not only landed him in a coma, but also losing his unborn child.

Juliana, one day at work receives a call notifying her that her sister, whom she hasn't seen in years is on her death bed and is leaving her daughter Rayne (whom didn't know existed) with her as the legal guardian. When Juliana finds that Rayne isn’t coping well with her mom‘s death, her brother Oliver suggests taking her to Luna Harbor, their childhood summer home, to seek help.
One day Keane was sitting on his deck when he sees a SUV approach the house next door, who steps out, Juliana.
Keane decides to take a yoga trauma informed class and who’s his instructor.. JULIANA! Her voice alone radiated inside of him. And when she said his name, he felt something within him he couldn’t quite place.
Fate has a way of placing these two together.

I went into this read thinking it was only Keane and Juliana who was suffering and while reading, you see Rayne’s pain. Her silent suffering. This story holds so much depth, love and compassion.
I’m so happy I received this read as an ARC bc Claudia, this story will hold a place in my heart. They say reading is therapeutic, this story was just that. Empathetic and Therapeutic.

4 Stars for this heartbreaking story

Talk about a slow burn! I could see the electricity between Keane and Julianne right from the start ... but it took them forever to see it themselves. Keane and Julianna are two broken souls that try to mend each other and provide Julianna's niece Rayne with the support she needs to grieve her mother. Julianna was so brave to try to make the best life for Rayne ... even though Rayne was resistant to everything she tried. My heart broke for Keane for all he went through and just to end up alone. A great addition to the series.

When Keane wakes up from a coma he was in for 5 years, he realizes all he has lost ... his fiancé, their baby, his career and more. He decides to take the time to heal at Luna Harbor where he can be by himself and reflect on where his life is going. He was not expecting the sad little girl and the beautiful woman to move in next door. Julianna becomes the guardian to her 6-year-old niece when her estranged sister dies. Wanting to get out of her small apartment in the city, she goes to the family cottage at Luna Harbor so she can bond with her niece and have a slower pace of life. She was not expecting the handsome man next door to become the lifeline she didn't realize she needed.
