Emily Cumming Harris (1837-1925) was a vibrant writer of poems, letters and diaries and the painter of exquisite and important botanical works of art. A child of the early New Zealand colony, she had to make her way in challenging times and her determination to have her work noticed--for it to matter--was unending.
