Luca Asher is my brother's ex-best friend, the best contractor in our small town of Lovers, a walking dream when he doesn’t have a shirt on—heck, with it on, too, and he was the first boy I ever loved.
He just doesn’t know that last part.
On the rare occasions I converse with him, I get a comeback for everything. Our banter is my favorite thing. He’s so clever and quick and, again, sexier than any man I’ve ever met.
But none of that changes the fact that he betrayed my brother. My family. Me. And none of those facts would matter except for my one little problem.
I had this plan to save my family's marina, which backfired. Now, my parents have given me a deadline to prove to them it’s still worth saving. If I don’t make it, they'll sell everything, and I’ll lose my dream to keep the place.
They gave me one rule: do not hire that Asher boy.
At this point, I have only one option left to make this happen. Hire Luca and beg him not to tell a single soul about it.
My heart forgave him years ago, but my head knows better than to trust the enemy. And yet, in a matter of weeks, he starts to remind me of the old us, and I find myself falling for him all over again. The idea of me and Luca is … tempting.
Tempting Me is a small-town, steamy, enemies to lovers romance with his ex-best friend's sister, lots of banter, and a secret agreement.
-small town romance -enemies to lovers -secretly working together -brothers ex bestie -great hate banter
hehehe these two were so cute with he banter about how much they hated each other! but then they hook up & shay comes out talking NASTYYY! damn girl!! it was so hot & perfect!!
“I’ve never felt more at home than I do standing right here, right now, with you.”
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was quick and light hearted. I liked how Luca & Shay slowly realised that they had feelings for each other. Their banter and the chemistry was good. However, I was expecting some angst considering the way her family blamed him in the past. But her parents were barely present and when they were finally back, years of conflict was just resolved with one short conversation initiated by Luca which felt weird. And the whole thing about Luca asking Grace out in the beginning was also unnecessary. Still, overall this was a sweet and charming read. It didn't completely blow me away like I expected, but it was a solid 3.5 star read for me.
I loved this secret relationship between Shay and her brother's former best friend, Luca. The tension between them was off the charts as they went from enemies to working together in secret to lovers. They were just so perfectly matched, and her snarky comebacks and eye rolls practically became foreplay between them.
Shay is out of options when it comes to saving The Marina, her family's business. Her father literally forbade her from hiring Luca's construction company to do the job, but with no other contractors around to do the work, she hires him to do the renovations under the secret cover of night. There was a falling out between Luca and her brother, Leo, back in high school, so he is Public Enemy No. 1 as far as her family is concerned. But fixing up the restaurant and its rental cabins isn't the only thing that happens between them at night. Little by little, they begin to form a friendship. Shay has long had a crush on Luca, and it's not long before he's crushing right back on her.
But how can Luca and Shay make a relationship work when her family doesn't know about it? Is it just a summer fling while her parents and brother are out of town? When The Obstacle comes that leads to The Breakup, my heart hurt for Luca and how he always felt relegated to being the secret boyfriend.
Tempting Me is a standalone in The Asher Family series, but the timeline overlaps with Miles and Quinn's story (Loving You), so it was great to see some of those scenes and plot points from Luca's POV. This book had so much sweetness, not only between Luca and Shay, but the friend groups, too. In the previous books, we got to see the girls hanging out at their book club, and now we see the birth of boys' night with Luca, his brothers, and the other guys in town.
I really enjoyed this story, and was so happy to see Luca and Shay get their HEA! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Luca and Shay’s story. Shay has a dream to save her families marina, but she keeps getting let down by contractors, and now she has been given a deadline by her family, which if she does not achieve, they will sell it. Luca is Shay’s brother ex-best friend, and the best contractor in town, and despite being told by her family not to hire that “Asher” boy, she has no option and convinces him to work with her in secret. This is a well written easy to read, slow burn, with family dynamics, friendships, emotions, betrayal, secrets, humor, witty banter, enemies / lovers, trust, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is a small town romance that I completely ate up. The banter was bantering (I live for some good banter!), Luca was perfect in so many ways and I am not one to get sappy but this ending got to me *Chefs kiss*
This can be read as a standalone but I think it may be best to read this in order just to get some background on the other characters. I can wait to read the previous ones or the one following this one.
Tempting Me is the third book in The Asher Family series and I fell in love with Luca and Shay. They have undeniable chemistry and the banter between them was fantastic.
This had a great story line, with the forbidden partnership and enemies to lovers, it was so easy to get lost in the pages. Especially because Luca and Shay had some unresolved feelings and didn’t really hate each other.
All my favorite tropes in one adorable read! My first Jami Roger’s and I was not disappointed… This was the perfect mix of cute, fluffy, romantic and at times cheesy, the simplicity of their setting was perfect!
Tempting Me by Jami Rogers absolutely stole my heart. I loved this book so much I had to force myself to stop reading halfway through—just to make it last longer. (Spoiler: it still only took me two days.) I was completely obsessed with Luca and Shay, and their dynamic had me grinning like a fool and making all the happy reader noises.
Set during the same summer as Loving You, this story gave me everything I wanted—banter, tension, chemistry, and a town full of characters I’ve completely fallen for. The town of Lovers feels like home, and seeing Sadie, Hudson, and the rest of the gang again was the cherry on top.
This is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance featuring a brother’s ex-best friend, a forbidden partnership, and so much emotional depth and found family. Luca and Shay’s secret arrangement had me hooked from page one, and their connection just crackled with every interaction.
Jami Rogers knows exactly how to write small-town romance with heart, spice, and humor. Tempting Me has firmly cemented itself as one of my favorites from her.
“I brought you coffee,” I tell her as I step inside to check out the space. “I wasn’t sure how you took it, so there’s a variety of sugars and cream in my lunch box.” “I drink my coffee black, thanks.” Of course she does. Just like her soul. - The banter between these two had me cackling! You just know when the bickering is that good, they’re destined to fall—hard. And fall they do. But not without facing some serious challenges first before earning that well-deserved HEA. I devoured this in a day because I simply couldn’t put it down! Jami’s writing is addictive in the best way—she has a knack for pulling you in and not letting go. So much fun!

Eeeeeeeek 😍🥹 Luca Asher's book is finally here! I knew there's chemistry between him and Shay, and I was so right!! Thank you so much, Jami, for the ARC 🥹 I frickin love them!!
Luca Asher 🫦 Golden retriever and a Daddy in the sheets 🧎♀️ Sign me up! The banter was hilarious and had me smirking constantly 🥵 The spice, storyline, and characters are phenomenal as always 🥹 There is just something about a Jami Rogers book that has me giggling kicking my feet. Ruby's and Declan's book has me on my seats edge because I know they're going to serve too!
I was utterly captivated by Jami Rogers' "Tempting Me." I had to pause reading this book midway because I enjoyed it immensely and wished for it to endure longer. (Spoiler alert: It only took me two days.) I was completely captivated by Luca and Shay, and their bond had me making all the joyful reader sounds and grinning like a fool.
Regarding the rescue of her family's business, The Marina, Shay has exhausted her options. Since no other contractors are present to finish the job, she engages Luca's construction firm to carry out the renovations at night, despite her father's explicit prohibition against it. Regarding her family, Luca's brother Leo is seen as her greatest adversary due to a conflict that arose between them in high school. During the night, they perform tasks beyond merely organizing the restaurant and its rental cabins. Ultimately, they begin to develop a friendship.
Nevertheless, how can Shay and Luca sustain their relationship while her family remains oblivious to it? With her brother and dad away, is this merely a summer fling? I felt sorrow for Luca since he always seemed like the hidden boyfriend when the issue leading to the split arose.
I really liked this romance set in a small town. I typically don't get emotional, but this conclusion moved me *Chefs kiss*. Luca was perfect in numerous aspects, and the teasing was enjoyable.
While this can be seen independently, I think it could be helpful to read it just to gain more insight into the other characters. I can hold off until I read the ones that precede or follow this one.
Shay has 1 summer to turn The Marina around. They used to be one of the hottest attractions in town but lately business has not been good. She wants to buy The Marina from her parents but they refuse to sell to her unless business picks up. She hires an out of town crew to do some remodeling and they up and quit. Shay is lost and doesn't know what to do.
Luca is the main contractor in their small tourist town. He keeps very busy and he is not happy that Shay hired out of towners. Luca isn't allowed to work for Shay's family though. He was accused of stealing from the business when he was best friends with Shay's brother. He lost the friendship for good after that accusation and what he did to retaliate. Things aren't always as they seem though.
Shay is between a rock and a hard place with her crew quitting so what's a girl to do but hire Luca in secret to work during the night. Luca resists at first but finally gives in. What Shay doesn't expect is the feelings she is catching for him and she is pretty sure Luca may be feeling the same way.
This book has such good banter! The energy between Shay and Luca is palpable as you read and you may or may not scream at Luca to just kiss her already! The setting of this book makes it a perfect summer read and who doesn't love a tadbit morally grey MMC?
Happy release day @authorjamirogers ! I’m so in love with this family and this series, and I can’t wait for everyone to pick up this book!
Tempting Me is a steamy, enemies to lovers, ex-best friend’s sister, small town romance between Shay and Luca.
I really empathized with Shay. She knows what she wants and what her dreams are, and it hurts when those things go invalidated by your loved ones. So I loved how determined she is to make her dreams come true, and how she refuses to give up on people and things she loves, and that comes to include Luca. She would fight to the ends of the earth for him, and I absolutely loved it.
It’s impossible not to fall in love with Luca. He wants the best for his loved ones, and I love how that comes to include Shay. He’s so incredibly protective and possessive with the more time they spend together, and I loved watching him bring her into his life and into his heart. I fell so hard for him the more I read, and I can’t wait for readers to fall just as hard when they pick up this beautiful book.
Thank you so much to @authorjamirogers for having me on your arc team, and for my arc copy! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next🥰
Thank you to The Author Agency for my advance copy of Tempting Me by Jami Rogers in exchange for my honest review! . . This book was amazing! We have Shay who is trying to spruce up the family marina and bring in more business so her parents will let her buy it. She keeps hiring help from out of state and they all quit on her. The one thing her parents said was if Luca Asher worked on the marina they would sell it immediately...so when Luca ends up being the only one who can possibly help her, he does...with his truck hidden...and only working at night so no one sees. . . Luca is her brother's ex-best friend and a guy her family loves to hate after a summer gone awry. Shay finds herself getting closer...and the small town notices (but they keep it a secret). When her parents come back from out of town can she convince them to let her buy the marina or will they catch wind of Luca helping and sell without question? Can Shay keep her mind off of Luca Asher? What would happen if she dared to like him? . . This is the third book in the series and in the beginning I felt a little lost, so it may be better to read the others first for a little more background, but as the story moved forward I was able to catch on quick! This was a solid 4 star read for me!
This Asher Family has such a special place in my heart but I think Luca takes first place. The way he falls so hard for Shay is everything!
If you are a sucker for good banter, like me, then this book is for you! These two had me laughing out loud and enjoying every interaction they had. The chemistry is undeniable and when they finally give in to their feelings the spice was perfect! I was rooting for these two to get it together and get their happily ever after!
The pacing of this book was perfect. It had me hooked from the get go and I couldn’t put it down. If life hadn’t gotten in the way I would have devoured this in one sitting!
I really love how this was set during the same time frame as Loving You. It was so fun to see the timelines match up and get glimpses of them going through some similar things at the same time. This can be read as a standalone but please go back and read the first 2 books first. That way you can fall in love with all the characters just like I have.
I can’t wait for more in the small town of Lovers! Each book in this series is like going to my fictional home, and I can’t wait for a trip back!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Loving this whole series! Excellent small town romance series. You will fall in love with the Asher family. I just binged read three of them this past week. Very well written and good story lines.
Luca and Shay are not friends but it has more to do with family loyalty than actual issues with each other. Luca and Shay's brother used to be best friends but when Shay's family accused Luca of stealing from them it caused an immediate rift between the two families. This has been going on for years but when Shay needs Luca's help...without her family finding out...the two finally have to come to terms with the past. Shay was always attracted to Luca but he has always been off limits. But he supports her vision for taking over the marina unlike anyone else and supports her in her decisions. As the two spend time together, their relationship changes. But of course telling Shay's family is a giant hurdle they need to overcome.
This was a great story. Love the whole Asher family and their relationship with one another. And honestly I loved that Shay was the one to screw up the relationship but Luca was still the bigger person to hunt her down and forgive her before she even had to ask. Swoon!
4.5🌟 stars Tempting Me was a compelling romance, with nice tension between building contractor Luca Asher and his former best friend's sister Shay. It's childhood friends to enemies to lovers in a small vacation-oriented community.
These two had a good nostalgic history of shared good times at the marina and around the lake put to an abrupt end when Shay's family accused Luca of stealing from them. Bad blood and distancing resulted but Shay is now under a time crunch and needs Luca's professional expertise to repair and update the family marina before her parents sell it out from under her care. She knows her parents and brother are dead set against hiring Luca but he truly is the best man for the job. Luca, for all the animosity he's faced, can't turn his back on Shay in her hour of need. All the working together to fix up a place they both love sets the stage for romance to blossom.
A good, easy read with great main characters.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I liked Luca and his blunt truthfulness. His straightforwardness is refreshing and leads to some fun (and awkward) moments with Shay. And I can’t blame him for his hurt over the past and the want to feel like enough as he is. Who doesn’t want to be trusted and liked for all they are.
Shay definitely comes across as a bit childish in spots. Especially in her treatment of Luca. I understand where she’s coming from, trying to hide her crush and follow the wishes of her family. But come on girl! I do feel for her with the way her parents treat her attachment to The Marina. The way that plays out is harsh … but also sweet.
This is my first book by Rogers and I enjoyed it. I found the characters a little immature in some places and I felt like a few places needed a bit more resolution, but I’m definitely interested in more from her.
**part of a series but can mostly read as a stand alone - looks like maybe there's some overlap in the time line to at least one other story**
(I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)
Tempting Me by Jami Rogers is a small town enemies to lovers romance and is the third book in the Asher family series.
Shay and Luca were childhood friends until Shay’s family accused Luca of stealing from them. After years of avoiding each other Shay needs Luca’s help to finish the renovations on the family marina, and she wants him to do it after hours so no one sees him because her family have forbidden her from hiring him. Despite all the animosity he’s faced from her family Luca can’t say no to Shay when she really needs him.
At under 300 pages this was a quick and easy read. I loved the banter between Shay and Luca, they both had a comeback for everything!
I did find it a little odd that after years of angst and being told she can’t hire Luca when Shay’s parents finally make an appearance they don’t seem bothered at all that Luca was working at the marina. The whole issue was just immediately resolved.
Although a standalone I suggest reading in order to fully appreciate all the secondary characters.
- enemies to lovers - Small town romance - Slow burn - Forced proximity - Ex-best friend’s sister
I really enjoy Jami Rogers stories. Her small towns and the wonderful cast of characters is just so comforting to sink into.
This was a mix of the miscommunication trope and enemies to lovers but it was clear from the get go that neither Shay nor Luca really hated the other, it just took a minute for them to admit it to themselves. They fell fast but it didn’t feel like instalove because they still felt that strong bond of friendship and love from when they were young.
The side characters were delightful, and the banter was high. I loved the addition of Guys Night and the reason it came to be especially. I definitely had quite a few chuckles over that scene.
I saw the third act breakup coming from a mile away but despite being heartbreaking to read, it was surprisingly low angst. There was still plenty of humour mixed in the sadness and a few moments that made me go “awww!” The big gestures were pretty adorable too.
There were a few interactions with the next book’s couple and it has me very intrigued. I’m excited to see what’s next for The Asher Family, and the town of Lovers!
Tempting Me by Jami Rogers was such a fun, addictive read with that perfect slow-burn energy I love. Luca and Shay had insane chemistry, and their banter? Had me smiling like a total fool the entire time.
This book really had it all—emotional moments, hilarious scenes, forbidden tension, and a whole town full of characters that feel like one big, chaotic family.
The enemies-to-lovers vibe between Luca and Shay (aka one of my favorite tropes ever) was done so well. You could tell right away they didn’t actually hate each other—it was more like unresolved feelings and years of built-up tension just waiting to explode.
I’m still kind of new to Jami Rogers’ books, but now I definitely need to binge the rest of this series. Even though this is book three, I had no problem jumping right in and getting attached. Her small-town romances are full of spice, heart, and that cozy found-family feeling that makes you never want to leave.
I’m already counting down to whatever comes next for the Asher family and the town of Lovers!
Shay is renovating The Marina. The Marina is a family owned company that offers fun activities on the water in the summer, cabins to rent, and a restaurant and bar. When Shay decided to renovate she went with an outside company because of family issues with the construction company in town. When things go horribly wrong she is stuck without a contractor and they barely get any work done. Shay’s family will sell The Marina if it doesn’t start to turn a profit.
Luca owns the construction company in town and is beside himself when Shay doesn’t ask him to help with the project. He loves The Marina as much as Shay’s family and felt betrayed. When things go sideways for Shay, she turns to Luca for help and he agrees.
The more Shay and Luca work together the closer they get. Will Shay’s family be okay with her hiring Luca?
Tempting Me is a wonderful slow burn, forbidden romance. Shay has liked Luca for years, but that was put on hold when the family issues arose. I couldn’t put this one down. The banter was amazing and I strongly recommend reading Tempting Me!
4.5/5⭐️ Oh boy, Luca definitely screwed up badly when he was younger. While he was wrongly accused, what he did next was not a good move for him. Despite the years that have passed, that period of life unfortunately makes things difficult for him when he finds himself falling for Shay, as he starts working closely with her.
Their chemistry was blazing hot and it was truly refreshing to see how honest Luca is with his feelings. I liked that it didn’t allow for Shay to have any doubts about what he wanted in their new relationship.
But challenges still abound even as their relationship progressed further over the summer. While there was angst in the last act, I loved how Hudson and the others stepped in to give really good advice during the boys’ night.
The ending was absolutely fantastic and I loved how they both chose to demonstrate their strong love for each other with actions, and not just words.
This book gave me goosebumps it was so good. This story is so compelling, and when the dedication says, "For those who came for the banter..." You know it's going to be a good one. I smiled and laughed through so much of this book. I loved that so much of Luca's family was included. I know the series is The Asher Family, but it's not always included.
Im going to be honest. I haven't read the other 2 in this series. But if they were anything like this one, im definitely going to be checking them out.
There wasn't a lot of spice, but what was there was wonderful. Not a lot of description and some scenes would be considered closed-door, but I didn't feel like it took away from this being a romance novel. It flowed with the story nicely.
The plot was spot on. The last couple of chapters were incredible, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I hope you decide to give it a shot as well.
Shay has dreams for her future and isn’t about to let anything stand in her way. So when her parents give her an ultimate regarding the marina she is trying to take over desperate time calls for desperate measures. She will have to work with the one man that her family wants nothing to do with even if that includes a little subterfuge along the way.
Lucas was once close to Shay and her family including her brother who used to be her best friend. Time may have passed but the estrangement between them hasn’t. His first instinct may have been to say no but he can’t resist due to old times sake however the more time he spends with her the more he realizes he doesn’t want what they share to end when the renovation does.
This story is both fun and heartwarming despite the complications they were dealing with due to strain between Lucas and her family. I enjoyed seeing them give into their feelings and realize that what they had was worth fighting for.
An entertaining, secret romance between Luca and his ex-best friends’s little sister. These two use snarky banter as their love language and in the beginning, before they get together, it’s almost non-stop. Luca has been hurt before when he was kept as a secret boyfriend by a summer tourist, so he’s not wild about keeping their growing romance under wraps. He understands some of the pressure Shay’s under to revive her family’s business, The Marina, to avoid her parents selling it so he agrees to keeping their relationship a secret.
The sassy relationship these two have was fun. The story includes involvement from many characters from other books in the series which is fun. It was a little weird for this book to take place concurrently as the timeline of book #2 (Miles & Quinn) in this series, but it clears up the secretive movements of Luca in that book.
The actions of Shay’s family are a little disjointed - that years of animosity was pretty much shrugged off in a single conversation with her parents and Luca was able to accepted it and move forward was unexpected and a little underwhelming.
I’m curious about Ruby and Declan’s story which is up next.
I received a free ARC from the author and The Author Agency; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
I’m so far gone for this girl, I can’t think of a moment in my life that I don’t want to share with her.
Shay Parker wants to renovate The Marina and her contractors keep bailing on her. She doesn’t want to hire her childhood crush Luca Asher. Her family hates him and she doesn’t too. She isn’t amused at first, but when Luca listens to her ideas and encourages her, it gets harder to stay away from him and she questions herself, why she doesn’t like him.
Luca Asher is so swoony! He quickly develops feelings and is a goner. 🤩 Shay needs a little longer, but Luca is a patient guy and waits for her to realize what they could have together. Let me say - right after physical touch, Luca’s love language are grand gestures 🙌🏻. This is a very cute read with nice friendship dynamics, if you enjoy that, give this book a chance!
Thank you Jami Rogers and The Author Agency for the ARC! 🤍
“Holy hell. His words. They possess me. They command me.”
“I’m so far gone for this girl, I can’t think of a moment in my life that I don’t want to share with her.”
I loooooved this book so much!! Shay and Luca are sworn enemies. Shay’s family accused Luca of something and their families never were the same. Luca was Shay’s brothers best friend and they all grew up together. After learning the contractors that were fixing the marina ditched out, Shay decides to hire Luca to help her finish it. Even after her parents explicitly told her NOT to hire him. So they fix it all on the down low and the chemistry slowly starts to build between them until it explodes. A little conflict and a few grand gestures and the swoony epilogue mmm perfection!!
I absolutely adored this book and am excited to back and read the first one!!
Another tremendous, heartfelt story from Jami Rogers! Tempting Me is beautifully written, with engaging characters and a compelling friends-to-lovers dynamic. The "brother’s best friend" trope is done especially well here—strictly off-limits, yet undeniably magnetic.
Shay is determined to restore the family marina, but the workers she hires fall short of expectations. The only person who can meet the high standards she needs? Luca—the one man from her past she's tried to avoid.
Can Shay and Luca leave the past behind and find their own happily ever after? Their chemistry, tension, and emotional growth make this story both satisfying and swoon-worthy.
Highly recommend this book to romance lovers, especially fans of heartfelt, small-town series. Can’t wait to read the next installment in the Asher Family series!
