For a super-wedding, things are relatively uneventful, but during the reception, he learns about the biggest problem with their upcoming destination
The world is ending within the next six months, as prophesied by a time-traveling eldritch demigod!
Who is responsible? Is it one of Paradox's many enemies, a dangerous abomination resurfacing from his past mistakes, or an unstoppable force of nature that has always been on his side?
I could tell you that the author is a middle class, middle age white dude with a generic wife and a generic pet who lives somewhere vaguely rural...but aren't they all? F%$! that noise! There are Author Bios and then there's Mythos.
Welcome to the Mythos of Macronomicon.
Macronomicon is almost three years old now, hatched on the open-mic writing website Royal Road. The pen name burst from the cocoon of blissful ignorance and deposited his first humble contribution into the world of writing, tired and sticky, yet satisfied. Content in the knowledge his work would be warmly received by thousands of potential fans, and more importantly...friends.
The first comment was, "Can you, I don't know, make the main character less stupid?"
That was sobering.
Macronomicon has no actual weight, because he is a pen name, and while his existence is ephemeral, he does have a presence, often stalking the back-channels of Discord like a novelty vampire, waiting to suck nourishing creativity out of unfortunate* fans.
Macronomicon has a talent for brainstorming and stringing together disparate ideas into a cohesive story. That talent has been strengthened and built upon to form the foundation of his writing career. He once outlined the plot (quality notwithstanding) of an entire book from start to finish in a tiny room with nothing but Cheerios, beef jerky, Pepsi and B.O.**
If you wish to hunt for the elusive Macronomicon, you may find him at Royal Road, where he began, or Patreon, where he works*** at distilling new stories from a raw, chunky slurry of ideas.
*Or fortunate, depending on your point of view. The sucking is consensual. **Quality of B.O. also notwithstanding. *** Working is subjective.
So this entire series has been like a drug addicted ferret going for his next score. So much random, weird, funny, and sad all over the place.
For the most part I enjoyed the series, but honestly this book just felt like the author was looking for an excuse to end it with a “happy ending”. Basically hit a giant reset button where all the stuff that happened, didn’t really matter. I personally hate when an author basically invalidates everything at the end. Sure some parts mattered, but ultimately he just did a soft reset so everyone lives happily ever after…
I enjoyed every bite! The wonderful world, with the strangest consequences. I was so engrossed in this book that someone at work stepped too close to me and I thought I was about to get assimilated, so yeah, I was in deep. This really feels like an ending, but ya never know.
Since this is the last book in the series, time for the full review of the series all together.
I really like how well structured all plot points are, that everything ties together nicely, there is no sagging parts where nothing happens or where filler takes up space. Nope, everything is pretty tight and things are really fun.
The exponential growth gets countered by exponential threats and things stay exciting.
My only criticism is that Nat and Heather take the backseat after the first book and it really never improves. Booooooh. Why even have two girlfriends if they just do stuff in the background and Perry only sees them to peck them and then fuck off?? Complete bullshit. Even the kids get more time with Perry! And they are really fun, but I want to see the moms too...
In my opinion, better than his Ravager and stitched worlds series. While books 2 and 3 were a bit slow, the finale was worth all the wait. The weird polygamy dynamic is less of a staple and more of a background noise. The action, wacky situations, and wtf situations are ramped up to a ten. Ill say this is his first series that actually ends with a true epilogue. Macronomicon has a tendency to abandon his stories when the inspiration leaves him, and this is the first of his published works that is finished. Recommended.
Amazing, Great. Ending was satisfying. Only some minor plot points didn't get cleared up, some characters from book 1 seem to have been left behind, though a lot of them do get a mention at least here. Kinda sucks that we see tide influenced Australia, but nowhere else. I want more dungeony series from this author, they do world building great. The ending was not at all what I was expecting.
I am now stuck with finding another compelling series to fill this hole...Now if only the author would finish their other series, that would be fabulous.
Like Perry, we all step into a different dimension occasionally to find something. A big thanks to Macronomicon for creating a world better than most for us to escape to, if only for a short lifetime. This is a seriously fun story. Not many authors can make me laugh out loud, but my wife looked at me funny a few times. Great series, and I look forward to more from Macronomicon.
i'm sad the series ended tried to spread out the last book for a while Perry goes to Australia for a bit after his wedding and finds among other things talking mutant spiders and a supervillain conservationist that felt bad for kangaroos at some point being surrounded by super predators so gave them the ability to use guns for self defense. I wish we got to see what his family did in Australia while he was working the short version wasn't enough and it sounded like a fun plot line
You *really* need to refresh your memory of the series before you dive into this one.
When they start playing with the 5th dimension, things get wild. Australia Man was a fun addition, though I could also take a pass on AOUSes. Kangaroos with firearms is just wild.
An author that writes epic fantasy and actually concludes the story, super novel! While it's only 1/2 the length of the others, it ties everything together well with good pacing, creative twists, and reasonable consequences. Love Ms stories, can't wait to read his next series!
I loved the character development in this series. Having the main character grow so much in power, while at the same time having realistic challenges takes some real talent. A very well written series that skillfully blends magic and technology better than any of the 1,000 or so books that I have read. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author.
I’m normally not a fan of the super hero genre but these books were amazing from start to finish. There are enough reviews that detail the story lines so if you want that, go read a different review. This review is simply a thank you to the author for a wonderful escape into an amazing world.
Superior series that is fast moving and worth re-reading. Progression storyline also including both science fiction and fantasy. Main and supporting characters are interesting and the plot moves quickly prioritizing action and dry humor. Pay off the charm is the book doesn't take itself too seriously.
Ending is pretty cheap. Reminds me of an old star trek episode. 40 minutes of problem with ten minutes of instant solution. The fact that this finishes out the series makes the whole thing a let down.
I originally finished this series on railroad months back and skim through this novel to refresh my memory of the story. It was. I'm like revisiting a t v series that you've already enjoyed like star trek. Just plane good story telling.
Thank you, sir, for your profound writing. It gives me hope, the spark of genius that you weave when crafting the masterpieces that you right give me hope for a better tomorrow.
Loved every entry in this series and this was no exception. Story was engaging and never let up. I appreciate the series was wrapped up nicely and didn’t endlessly stretch out into 20 books like every author nowadays seems to want to do. Highly recommend!
The character writing and action are tied together very well. The fights are interesting and dynamic and the characters' motivations are well explored.
Overall this series was phenomenal! Definitely one of my favorites. The characters are written intelligently and the world is very well detailed. I'll definitely be picking up future works by this author
Blew my mind, with such creativity and attention to detail and brilliant characters, probably one of the most unique books I've ever read and I highly recommend it!
humor is great in this series. A good mount of the stuff you read in the first book will be identical to super minion or remind you of it, which is fine, since super minion is on a indefinite hiatus, but it definitely surprised me.
Unless author decides to somehow continue this, which i doubt considering the rather conclusive conclusion, this was a great finale. Might feel a little too perfect, but I found that tolerable.
Gotta love a series that has a clear arc! And the way Macronomicon concluded this story felt natural and true to the characters in it. All in all, lots of fun and an engaging story to boot!
Well. A story that manages to itch that OP need while also having issues. Such a significant necessary in a genre rife with 100 billion year old swordsman.
