After she finds her grandfather’s dead body in his office, Seraphina Hanson, a twenty-three year old college graduate, inherits the Newport Beach Seagulls, a hockey team she knows absolutely nothing about. Even though she’d rather be spending the rest of her summer eating macaroni and cheese and watching Law and Order: SVU reruns, Seraphina decides to take on the responsibility of owning and running the team on top of dealing with her grandfather’s untimely death. When the police start to suspect the Gulls’ star goaltender, a man Seraphina believes is innocent, she is determined to solve her grandfather’s murder herself.
Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.
This is actually a murder mystery with lots of romantic undertones. Hunky hockey players and their new owner, and a murder investigation are all part of this well written thriller. Seraphina is so empowering as the new owner of the Newport Seagulls hockey team! I loved it!

Seraphina is a college graduate who inherits the Newport Beach Seagulls hockey team after she finds her grandfather's dead body in his office. Seraphina knows nothing about hockey. After talking with her sister, Seraphina decides to take on the responsibility of owning and running the team. The police begin to suspect Seagulls' goaltender, Brandon, of the murder. Brandon is one of the best goalies in the league but is standoffish and brooding. Seraphina and Brandon are attracted to each other and having amazing chemistry. Seraphina believes Brandon is innocent and sets out to prove he is not her grandfather's killer. Can Seraphina prove Brandon's innocence? Who killed Seraphina's grandfather and why? Will Brandon be able to save Seraphina when the killer comes after her? I enjoyed Blood on the Rocks by Heather C Myers. Blood on the Rocks is a great start to the Slapshot Prequel Trilogy. Blood on the Rocks is good book full of murder, intrigue, and suspense. I would recommend getting Blood on the Rocks by Heather C Myers.

This was the first time I’ve read anything by author Heather C. Myers & I’m sad to say that I wasn’t very impressed. Her storyline was good, her knowledge of the game is good but the way she put this book together was really confusing. There were 3 different stories going at once in this prequel & I found jumping to a different characters story every chapter was really annoying. Also I found the grammatical errors & the editing awful. I felt like I was reading an unedited copy of this book, having to go back to reread the same sentence over many times for it to make sense was frustrating to say the least. I’m going to give the other books a chance in hopes that the editing & grammatical errors were caught in those, especially when I paid a fair price for them. Unfortunately I’m not going to recommend this book because it would be hypocritical of me to do it since I wasn’t happy with it.
I picked “Blood on the Rocks”, prequel to the 'Slapshot' series, at random because once in a while I like to try books which fall well outside my wheelhouse. It's set in the world of hockey, a sport I know nothing except that grown men run about wielding sticks and hitting each other. Seraphina Hanson, 23, inherits the Newport Beach Seagulls after her grandfather is murdered in his office. She, like me, knows bugger all about the sport but she's got to run the team or sell it. She opts to run it. The main suspect in the case is her goalie though Seraphina is unwilling to believe he did it (the fact that she is attracted to him may play a part!) Surprisingly, at least to me, I quite liked it even though it really needs a much edit. One sentence stood out because not only is it very odd, it also doesn't make any sense in the context of the chapter:- “I think maybe it would be better if I didn’t resign with the Gulls.” 3 Stars.
Blood on the Rocks is heart wrenching. When you lose someone you love it tears at your heart. When that person is taken from you it is a loss like nothing you have ever felt.
Seraphina's grandfather is killed and it is as if a part of her is killed. She inherited her grandfather's hockey team and believing he did it because he believed in her she takes her place as owner and manager.
Seraphina and her sister learned one thing from her grandfather it was to trust their gut. Even though they are young it has never let them down.
Blood on the Rock is an amazing start to the prequel for this series.

This prequel pretty much lays the groundwork for the series. Nothing steamy, nothing spicy and it gets the job done, if you know what I mean. I love Seraphina. She strongly took over as the team GM for the love of her grandfather. And it was no easy feat considering it’s an all men’s game (& she’s even damned morelovable in her full length love story! Ahoo!).
However, I must point out the more than one typographical errors not just in this novella, but also in the rest of the series. Some errors are forgivable, sure, but some made the sentence made less sense it should’ve been addressed during the proofreading/ editing process. Regardless, this still is a must read, especially those who love reading hockey romance.
Blood on the Rocks is the first book in the Slapshot Prequel series. While this is part of a series, it is a standalone with no cliffhanger.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author managed to describe the main characters Seraphina, Emma, and Madison and the setting well. While this story revolves around hockey, much of this story takes place off the ice. The storyline is average but overall, it was a good read.
I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author including more books about the Seagulls hockey team.
This was the first of the Slapshot Series books. I'm actually reading the prequels after the first couple books, so this story filled in a lot of blanks about what happened with the death of the owner of the Gulls.
Seraphina Hanson finds her grandfather's body and inherited the team under the terms of his will. The story wrapped up the mystery of who committed the murder, and also set in motion the romance between Sera and Brandon, the Gulls' goalie who was suspected of the crime.
I enjoyed the mystery and it kept me guessing until the end. I can't wait for Sera and Bradon's book.
This is the first of three prequel stories to the Slapshot series. It all begins with Seraphina's story. She is a twenty-three year old college student on summer break when she finds her grandfather's body and she inherits the Newport Beach Seagull's hockey team. She decides to spend the rest of her summer solving her grandfather's murder becuase the team's star goalie could not be responsible and learning all about hockey and running a team. A good story to start a new series. Enjoy!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I love this series. This is the book that starts them all. It begins with Seraphina and Katella death with they're grandfather's murder. Sera finds home in his office dead. There are speculation in who killed him from her uncle Alan to Brandon Thorpe. Sera never knew Brandon but gets to learn more about him over time. This is the beginning of a great series depicting players and they're crazy lives.

Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength, erotic and happiness with a Reverse Harem Romance with happily ever after. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

This is Slapshot prequel book one in the Slapshot series and it features Seraphina and Katella Hanson. Seraphina finds her grandfather murdered and this short story is all about finding out who killed him. It’s also about the struggle she’s about to endure as the new owner/manager of a hockey team. A new owner/manager that knows very little about hockey but after reading this short story, I have faith in her. I can’t wait for more of the Slapshot series.
This is a good overall introduction to the series. Having read the other books prior to this one, it fills in the backstory questions I had and lays a firm foundation for the rest of the series. The readers get to see how vulnerable and confused Seraphina is as she is handed the management of the team just months after graduating college. We also get foreshadowing on Brandon Thorpe's importance in her life.

This book will keep you glued to see what happens next. The story is full of suspense, murder mystery, sexy hockey players, the new owner and a whole lot more. The story flows well, it is great to see the characters develop and evolve, and they have amazing chemistry. This is the first book in this Slapshot series and I am hooked and I can't wait to see what happens next with Seraphina, Katella and the whole Newport Seagulls hockey team.
Interesting prequel to the Slapshot and Gulls series. The death of the owner sends shock waves around the organisation, which leads to speculation and rumours. Fuelled by potential suspects, stories of sale and terms of a will leaves the gossip mill open to overdrive and the new owner, young and female has a challenge on her hands. Lots of twists and turns in this who dunnit introduction to the NHL team and players.
Excellent hockey team story that has suspense, intrigue and dedication. Ms. Myers did a good job developing the characters and storyline. The blurb is well written to give readers a glimpse of what's ahead but it's so much more involved and interesting. I received a complementary copy of this book via Booksprout and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Myers.
Seraphina world is rocked when her grandfather dies and she is now the owner of the Newport beach seagulls, brandon the goalie is the prime suspect of the murder and if her heart.Did brandon kill her grandfather, if not whom ,This was a very interesting read and i like it a great deal.

I usually like Heather's Ice hockey books but I found this one a little confusing There where so many story-lines threaded through that at times I was totally confused I think it was supposed to be Seraphina and Brandon's story but am not %100 positive. It may be easier to understand when I read the other books in the series
Seraphina and Brandon have chemistry and a business relationship. When Ken, Seraphina's grandfather is murdered there are few suspects one of which is Brandon. One of Ken's sons is also looked at, but eventually cleared. It was surprising to find out who really killed him. Hockey isn't my favorite sport but seeing it written down and explained was a teaching point. I couldn't put it down.
I have read other books in this series and I enjoyed finding out more about Seraphina and what happened with her grandfather. I liked how she stood by Brandon while trying to find out who committed the murder.

One of the three prequels to the main series, "Blood on the Rocks" is a quick and captivating read. Murder, mystery, hot hockey players and romance, all wrapped-up in a well written story with great characters. It surely wetted my appetite for more!

I enjoyed this prequel giving us Seraphina and Brandon story. The characters are thrown into a tailspin when Brandon is look at for murdering Seraphina’s grandfather she sets out to prove he did not do it. I like the storyline and the characters.

Blood on the Rocks: A Slapshot Prequel (Slapshot Prequel Trilogy Book 1) Heather C. Myers. I read and enjoyed all of the Slapshot Prequels. This one has Seraphina finding her grandfather dead, and she suddenly inherents the Gulls hocky team.

The prequel to Seraphina Hanson and Brandon Thorpe. The story explains how Seraphina inherits the Newport Beach Seagulls hockey team. She is overwhelmed by the death of her grandfather and the running of the Gulls. Brandon becomes a suspect in the murder of her grandfather, but she stands behind his innocence. Entertaining story with strong characters.
I thought that this was a interesting and entertaining look at Seraphina's backstory if you are a fan of the series. If you aren't and really have no intension of reading this series I don't see much point in reading this. This is my independent, impartial review.
A good into tobtge series and some of the other characters. There is murder, mayhem, mystery, intrigue and more that Seraphina will have to deal with as the new owner of the team.
After the death of her grandfather Seraphina inherits a hockey team, the Newport Beach Seagulls. One problem, she knows nothing about running a hockey team. This is a murder mystery with a romance tossed in and a good introduction into the Slapshot series. I look forward to reading the next book.
