".... if only she knew the things I could do to her, what I will do to her… but she’ll beg me first."
Heir to his family's sprawling multimillion-dollar ranch; Jackson Montgomery has always been certain of his future—until the most enticing woman he's ever encountered moves into his aunt and uncle's house. Handsome and capable; he's never had to go far for female attention but this woman; with her feisty spirit and mouthwatering curves, fires his blood in a way no other woman has before. Her hungry gaze tells him she wants him...but she doesn't seem to be taking him seriously! Confusion, anger, and lust war within him as his body yearns to pull her close, but his heart wants to push her away....
"...the things he does to me; I never knew I wanted..."
A New York City native; Laura is a young, sassy, educated woman who plans to spend her life helping other women rise from the ashes of abuse. She craves peace, serenity, and a place she can call home near the one person on earth she loves like a sister.
Life at the ranch seems idyllic until Jackson Montgomery appears. The tall, handsome cowboy seems too good to be true, but he isn’t here to stay. He’s only there for a season, and Laura can feel his dislike, even as his hot gaze devours every inch of her.....
Laura is visiting her cousin in Wyoming. She is a little out of sorts with the down-home family and loving gestures but her awkward moments are smile-inducing.
Jackson is smokin and sweet a true mostly gentleman cowboy. This man has me imagining tall, dark, and country. I like that the characters are midlife and mature.
The verbal sparring or banter between Jackson and Laura is fabulous. The chemistry is sizzling with plenty of laughs and heated moments. Is it hot in here or is it just this story?
The opposites attract part of this story, which is apparent in the city girl's sass and the country man's charm. Um, things start to get steamy but then clearly there is too much taking during the encounter.
Their chemistry is angsty, sweltering, and slow and they are both too stubborn to admit defeat and embrace the enjoyment. However, they finally get sizzling hot in cowboy style and goodness that will scorch your Kindle. Jackson and Laura don’t disappoint most slightly. It is very maturely described but not overly done. But there is enough of it to take this story from smutty to sizzling.
But afterward, as she is embracing her new adventure she brings up and hints at a tragedy in her past. We don’t have the full details yet, but I admire how this strong, sassy female MC is confident and positive despite her history. I truly love that about Laura in this story.
Oh, he is dreamy, charming, and rich who wouldn’t love this cowboy when he isn’t being bossy? Laura is one lucky woman, but their relationship is still very new, and they are still in the honeymoon phase. For all Jackson’s greatness, the dom/sub thing in the bedroom is a lot overdone.
I’m glad he finally put a ring on it for as much as he was tapping that, but the pregnancy thing is overdone but thankfully toward the end of this book. I guess Laura is now a country girl.
The book ends sweetly, and I can’t wait to read the epilogue hopefully they are out of the honeymoon phase. I didn’t expect the religious ending to this story with all the smutty scenes, but I enjoyed the second-chance cowboy romance.
This book was a journey from city girl to country and in love as well as meeeting the one who can challenger her. They banter and flirt a lot, and the books get smutty with a lot of intimacy. But the second chance romance with some memorable moments in the countryside is charming. I gave a four-star rating because it was a lot of intimacy, and I preferred the interactions and banter more than the bedroom scenes. However, Jackson is an absolute thirst trap, and his personality is well done. Laura’s story is well-written, and I loved her feisty attitude. Overall, the book was a great read. If you love country romance with hot cowboys, lots of smutty scenes, and a happy-ever-after ending you will adore this book.
I just finished this novel and I have to say that I really enjoyed it...Jackson is just so sexy! He is the perfect blend of protective Alpha male who knows how to take pleaseure and give it back in spades! I really liked the angst at the beginning and how the two main characters worked through their feelings and the sexy banter between them was just 'chef's kiss'! There were a few small errors in the book so I hope it gets updated but it wasn't bad...this is a new author and I will keep my eye on her. I really hope she releases a book about Jackson's brother Nick whose character really developed in the second half of the book. I felt like the pace was really good and by the middle of the story, I just couldn't put this down! I loved the supporting characters, Jackson's mom is amazing in particular! The sex scenes were interesting and very hot IMO...there is a lot of sex in this book, but its hot and it makes sense and isn't out of place in the story at all. Overall I loved it and I will be reading this one again!
I found this book to be very engaging and hard to put down! I loved the bit of hate to love vibe and how difficult it was for Jackson to get past certain things in order to be with Laura. It was so sexy to see him battle with his overwhelming attraction and to finally cave in to it. The the dual perspectives were great. The whole city girl meets cowboy is interesting but not overdone....I rarely ever remembered that she was from NY, it didn't play a huge role. I loved how they got together and the sexy banter between them...that being said; sexy scenes were very plentiful, diverse, and spicy! The supporting characters in the book were interesting and you will seriously hate Uncle Bud by the end of the book! Jacksons brother Nick intrigued me and he surprises you at the end.....I hope he gets his own story. I have already read this twice and I cannot wait for more from this author.
🌟 When Ranch Legacy Meets Irresistible Temptation 🌟
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Huge thanks to Fiona Wolfe for the gifted 🎁 copy in exchange for my honest review!
Y'all, this book just became my new obsession! Jackson Montgomery is the kind of cowboy hero who'll have you weak in the knees and questioning your life choices about not living on a ranch in Wyoming.
The Setup: Jackson's got his whole life figured out - inherit the family ranch empire, continue the Montgomery legacy, keep doing what Montgomery men do best. Simple, right? Wrong. Enter one curvy, spirited woman staying at his relatives' place, and suddenly Jackson's legendary control is nowhere to be found.
What Worked: Fiona Wolfe absolutely nails the alpha cowboy trope without making Jackson a complete caveman. Yes, he's possessive and dominant (hello, book quote about what he wants to do to her! 🔥), but there's real depth beneath all that swagger. The ranch setting feels authentic - you can practically smell the hay and feel the Montana sun. The family dynamics add layers that elevate this beyond a simple instalust story.
The Steam Factor: Let me just say... keep a fan handy. This is definitely adult contemporary romance with all the heat that implies. Wolfe writes passion scenes that are both scorching and emotionally resonant. If you prefer fade-to-black romance, this isn't your book.
The Emotional Journey: What surprised me most was how invested I became in both characters' growth. There's real vulnerability beneath Jackson's alpha exterior, and our heroine isn't just there to be rescued - she's got her own strength and agency.
Series Potential: This is book one of the Montgomery Ranch Cowboys series, and I'm already plotting how to get my hands on the next installments. The Montgomery family dynamics and the ranch setting offer so much potential for future stories.
Bottom Line: If you love your cowboys dominant, your heroines fierce, and your romance hot enough to melt snow, Jackson Montgomery is waiting to sweep you off your feet. This book hit all my western romance buttons and left me thoroughly satisfied while desperately wanting more.
Perfect for fans of: Maisey Yates, Carolyn Brown, Nicole Helm, and anyone who's ever had cowboy fantasies.
Content warnings: Explicit sexual content, dominant hero, possessive behavior themes
Reading order: This can be read as a standalone, but it's the first in a series.
Can't wait to see which Montgomery brother rides into my heart next! 🤠💕
I enjoyed this story, however I felt like it covered too much. side stories kept on popping up e.g Laura's past, Jackson's brother, Jackson's uncle. which I don't think where fully explored.
There were a few spelling errors which caused me confusion at times but overall I enjoyed the story.
Jackson and Laura are cute together although I thought he was pretty out of line to begin with in the kitchen scene.
This story is a perfect mix of passion, charm, and heartfelt emotion. The hero is a strong, protective cowboy with a tender side, and his chemistry with the heroine is electric. The ranch setting feels authentic, and the supporting characters add warmth. With a captivating storyline and just the right amount of heat, this is a must-read for cowboy romance fans!
