A Love Story is a heart-pounding, emotional journey about family, resilience, and the risks we take for love. Mr. Love! After learning that this read was somewhat connected to Autumn (which I loved by the way), I knew I had to dive into this one. You did not disappoint!
That Miri was a sassy mess! This girl had the confidence of a hundred men and could trash talk like the best of them about her basketball skills. I rooted for her to win as she fought for her dreams while dealing with illness. However, doubt reared its ugly head, and family issues almost derailed her future, before she got started.
This story of friendship, love, loss, and second chances was emotional, yet inspiring. Jae and Winter have gone to hell and back, but their love and friendship never wavered. Their happy ending was years in the making, and it was so satisfying when it came to fruition. Relatable characters and situations made this one easy to sit down and finish in one sitting. Good job! 👍🏾👍🏾
After finishing Autumn, I knew I’d be back for more, but Winter exceeded every single expectation I had. I bought this book immediately after Norian Love’s debut, and now I’m mad at myself for waiting this long to open it — because this is the kind of story you savor and inhale at the same time.
Winter continues the seasonal universe with new characters—Winter, Jae, and Miri—and a narrative that feels grounded, grown, and emotionally layered. What impressed me most wasn’t just the romance (though the second-chance energy between Winter and Jae is absolutely top-tier), but the way Norian Love threads so many heavy themes—grief, illness, ambition, failure, family strain—without making the story feel weighed down. Instead, the book feels deeply human and incredibly warm.
The character development is rich and intentional. Winter’s journey is messy, imperfect, and completely relatable. Her family dynamics feel lived-in and honest, and the emotional beats are delivered with such care. I found myself laughing, tearing up, nodding along, and flipping pages faster than I meant to.
And then… that plot twist? I am still recovering.
By the end, I felt full. Content. Satisfied in a way only a beautifully written story can leave you. Winter is a stunning follow-up to Autumn and a reminder of why Norian Love is becoming a favorite author of mine.
Winter Carter is a force to be reconned with. She is the mother of a sixteen year old basketball phenom who suffers from a terminal illness, a baker, and an entrepreneur. She is able to accomplish all these things with the help of her best friend Jae Carter. Jae is everything you'd adore in a best friend, kind, considerate, and funny. Norian's second installation in the Seasons of Love series introduces a more playful, all-encompassing love. We get to see the friendship blossom into a beautiful romance. The title is fitting, as winter is the time to embrace darkness, and the growth is ushers in. This is the perfect book for the holiday season. The theme of love in all forms, following your dreams, and growing through hardships makes this a warm and comforting read.
Norian Love has done it again! Following up his breakout book Autumn, he blesses us with a new season- Winter. Welcome Winter, Jae, and Miri. All is not fair in love and basketball, as we soon find out. Get ready for this second chance romance geared towards grown folks only. The Plot Twist King never makes any of his novels easy- be prepared to be stunned by an unexpected revelation. This book highlights grieving, infertility, chronic illness, and single parenting.
At the end of this book, after every tear, smile and laugh I’m content, full. Character development was on point and Winter and her family’s story was relatable, real. Their journey was messy and imperfect and I devoured it all in one sitting. This love story was everything and the soundtrack surprised me, def worth a listen.
I am still reeling from the plot twist in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the way this book addressed fairly heavy topics without the story itself feeling heavy. Grief, love, illness, failure, family dynamics, chasing a dream.....there were so many major factors throughout this book and it came together in a beautiful way.
5. Sometimes the best relationships are cultivated over time and space… this rings true for Jaden and Winter. He was her person through and through. And everybody deserves somebody who is going to take the load off
I will admit, this book had a slow start for me. But once it got good, it got really good. There was a moment I was in full tears. The writing is so good, you can’t help but take on the emotions of the characters in the book. Well done!
