After a disastrous break up that ruptures her reputation in the art scene, Bailey is left with only one studio willing to show her work. That is if she follows the curators exact and extravagant instructions and front all the production costs.
As a single dad, Travis has everything under control. Except his son's behavior in school, which has caused such a ruckus that he might have to repeat the year.
When Travis and Bailey share their woes over drinks, they realize they can help each other out. Bailey can teach the kid art therapy to help with his behavior problems and Travis can pay. But as the hippie and uptight dad clash over parenting techniques, tensions rise. In more ways than one. And suddenly, art isn't the only thing making things messy.
Content sexually explicit content, descriptions of panic attacks, and discussion about the sudden death of a partner
Thank you so much to the author for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
After adoring A Much Kneaded Union, I knew I had to read more in this series - I’m yet to read a couple more in this series but I will be getting to them in due course after how much I loved this book!
Snapshot Problems follows Bailey, down on her luck and struggling to make ends meet in her art career, and Travis, a single dad with a seven year old son who’s behaviour is not something to be desired. When Bailey gets an opportunity to curate a gallery in Charlotte, she needs money to commission her pieces… and Travis needs someone to help Travis help regulate his son (Jayson’s) feelings. As Bailey helps Travis out, feelings start to blossom and things start getting more complicated…
I adored Bailey and Travis together. Their build up from being friends and being a back and forth in teasing was great. Especially when it came to the tension of Travis not knowing if what he felt for Bailey was right. The tension between them danced lovely off the pages too!
I also enjoyed the addition of Jayson in the story too. The way his character contributed to Travis’s character development was so cute and how he felt more confident in his parenting the longer the book went on.
As someone who is a massive fan of grumpy x sunshine and small town romances, this ticked all my boxes. It was a cosy, sweet read that was a perfect spring read!
I can’t wait to see the next book (hoping it’s Rosie!! But I’ll be happy with anyone 🥰🥰)!!
If you love small town romances, this series is perfect for you! The author has a way with making cosy romances about amazing characters!
CW/TW: Mentions of panic attacks, sexual content, and discussion of sudden death of a partner.
This is my first book from the author and it was such a fun read that also made me surprisingly emotional towards the end! Right off the bat we see how different Travis & Bailey are - both in personality and where they are in their lives. Travis is a single dad coping with his son's behavioral problems in school and Bailey is navigating a sudden break-up that's left her isolated from the art world she's been entrenched in. She returns home to recuperate and ends up offering art therapy lessons for Travis's son, Jayson. At first Travis is really rude to Bailey - he doesn't trust her "hippy" ideas until he starts seeing positive changes in his son. And as they spend more time together, the obvious attraction between the two grows.
I think what I enjoyed most in this book was watching Travis & Bailey change each other for the better and grow as people. I think it was most obvious to see the effects Bailey had on Travis, but the unwavering support and care Travis had for her was so swoon-worthy. The spicy scenes were very hot (the POLAROIDS!), but overall the book is more focused on watching grumpy x sunshine grow into true love.
I received an ARC from the author, but my thoughts are my own!
This was my first book by K.E. Monteith and it will not be my last. I could not put this book down, read it in a day. I loved Bailey, sometimes the struggling artist can be hard to relate to but she was so much more than that. Bailey was so great with helping everyone around her but had a hard time figuring out her own feelings. Jayson started out a little maddening but what do you expect from a 7 year old. Also when seeing how Travis is coping with being a single father, it’s understandable to have both boys struggling with their emotions. The growth of all of the characters made me fall more in love with this book the further I got into it. I will admit, at the beginning, Travis’s hard-headedness made me want to stop reading but Bailey was the perfect balance. Seeing the family and friend dynamics in this book is so heart-warming. I loved Travis and Baileys story. I will absolutely be reading the rest of the books in this series and look forward to anything new K.E. Monteith puts out.
Thank you to @kemonteith for this advance copy of Snapshot Problems!
Polaroid camera. 2 words. 1 scene 🥵 let’s just say that I now need more recommendations with camera use 😅
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely adored Bailey, Travis, and Jayson! All three characters were so lovable, kind, and caring. They each showed immense growth in their own ways. Bailey was a fantastic support system for both Travis and Jayson and I love that both used the techniques she taught Jayson during their sessions! Travis really stepped up to help his son and in the process his relationship with Bailey was filled with understanding.
Anxiety, panic attacks and therapy were beautifully portrayed by the author. I loved the way Travis helped Bailey process an oncoming panic attack by using what she taught them.
Overall, this was a super fun, light read that can help anyone get out of a reading funk!
Thank you to @kemonteith for sharing an advance copy of Snapshot Problems! This book drew me in with its heartwarming portrayal of relationships and the everyday struggles we all face. Bailey, Travis, and Jayson quickly became characters I rooted for. Each character's journey resonated with me in different ways. Bailey's unwavering support for both Travis and Jayson highlighted the importance of connection and empathy. What truly stood out was the authentic representation of anxiety and therapy. The author skillfully depicted how Travis helped Bailey navigate her panic attacks by using techniques she had taught Jayson. This not only showcased the power of understanding but also emphasized the importance of mental health in our lives.
I had the pleasure to read it as part of an arc review. This was my first time reading a book from the author and I really enjoyed it. The style of writing and the flow of the story literally transported you to be with the characters and the location. It had banter, romance, a little spice and it was wholesome. Bailey and Travis were just perfect for each other and Jayson just made everything that much sweeter. So if you’re looking for a romantic, sweet and funny story, I definitely recommend reading it!
I am so incredibly thankful that I got to be an ARC reader for this book!!! I love how Travis and Bailey were so complimentary towards each other. Her "hippie" ways of doing things really worked well with his grumpiness!! I also really enjoyed the fact that Jayson (Travis's son) is so included in everything!! When Bailey said "my child" I about jumped out of my chair!!! Travis could not have found a better partner than her when it came to someone loving his child!!!
Now, I need to go read the rest of these interconnected standalones in this series because this one was great!!
This was my first book I have had the pleasure of reading written by this author. I'm immediately going to have to find and read ALL of the other books now.. so good! The way the author is capable of making you as the reader feel so included in the story is heartwarming. I felt like I was making art along with them, taking photos, burning pasta sauce and wven relaxing at the pub, drinking and playing Taboo too.
This was my first time reading a book by this author and I loved it! The story was well written and the characters were easy to love. This story has a ton of great tropes from grumpy x sunshine to single Dad and a bunch in between. The spicy scenes are just 🥵🔥 I won't give anything away but I will say I now need a Polaroid camera 😉 I really appreciate the author, K.E. Monteith, for sending me an ARC copy! It was wonderful!!
Bailey and Travis don’t agree on much, but when Travis needs help Bailey agrees. A great story of how opposites attract.
Tropes Interconnected small town series Hallmark after dark/open door Dual POV, first person Tight knit friend group Single dad Grumpy x sunshine Picture Fun Secret relationship
ARC review If you love the grumpy x sunshine and single dad tropes, Snapshot Problems by K.E. Monteith is a must-add to your TBR. When Bailey and Travis cross paths and bond over drinks, their chemistry is undeniable. Bailey offers to help Travis’s son with art therapy, and in return, Travis helps Bailey stay afloat. But their clashing personalities—hippie artist vs. uptight dad—spark plenty of tension and banter, making for a dynamic and engaging read. This book delivers on messy emotions, real-life struggles, and steamy moments, with content warnings for sexually explicit scenes, panic attacks, and discussions of grief. If you enjoy small-town romance with heart, healing, and a dash of chaos, you’ll want to dive into this one.
