A romantic, Christmas wedding at her seaside hotel gives Delilah a chance to shine with her unique gifts. But will her light be snuffed out before the bride and groom say “I do”?

As manager of the Tidewater Inn, Delilah Carter has been planning a spectacular Christmas wedding for her friends at the grand hotel overlooking the ocean. While picking up still more twinkly lights and some last-minute groceries for the reception dinner, a huge truck runs her off the freezing, wet roads into the dark night. Her car stops just short of an enormous tree and the truck speeds off into the night. Delilah escapes with her life and has almost convinced herself the whole thing was an accident, but then she begins to receive threatening phone calls. With the wedding just hours away, she’s distracted and anxious. Then Sheriff Tom Bourne stops by the inn and volunteers to help.

Tom has always had a soft spot for Delilah, and he’s determined to protect her. But he is pulled away by a bizarre Christmas stunt that has the neighborhood reeling, and Delilah is attacked again.

Will Delilah have to cancel the Christmas wedding at Tidewater Inn? And will Tom’s protection be enough to save Delilah from the shadowy figure looming in the background?

I really enjoyed this suspenseful romantic story. It's quite the tale—this bad guy doesn't rest in his efforts. But I especially enjoyed the ending! Tom and Delilah are some side characters I liked in the main series, so it was fun to see them get together.

I enjoyed reading the Hope Beach series and this story was a nice way to revisit Hope Beach, North Carolina and residents. This is a quick Christmas read with lots of suspense and some romance thrown in. Delilah is the manager of Tidewater Inn and is quite busy with menus, cooking and much more. But Delilah tries to be the best person that she can be so she is also working on Elin and Marc's Christmas wedding. She doesn't need someone harassing her with prank phone calls but when she is driven off the road and lands in the ocean, she is really frightened. Who could be after her? Her parents were killed the same way when she was thirteen and she managed to live because of an air bubble in the car. She had an older brother but he was never found after the incident and she was raised in foster care. Sheriff Tom Bourne has a soft spot for Delilah and is determined to find her killer. He investigates everyone that could possibly be after her, including trying to find her brother. Maybe he is still alive. This is a short story that is jam packed with action and suspense and a surprise antagonist and ending. Both Delilah and Tom have a past filled with sadness but rely on their faith in God to direct them. Do they have a future together? Is that where God is leading them? Great read.

I listened to the audiobook. I was surprised at how interested I was in the mystery. Not very Christmasy but this was incredibly short.

Someone on the island wants to hurt Delilah, the manager of Tidewater Inn. Sheriff Tom Bourne wants to get to the bottom of it and protect the woman he’s grown to care for. **

For a novella (which I’m generally less fond of than books), this was pretty good. Suspense and romance and a surprise ending? Nice.

** (Should say a woman for whom he's grown to care. I wish the rule about not ending sentences with a preposition would change. How many people really talk like that? Reminds me of a reply it’s rumored Winston Churchill said when his speech was corrected: "This is the sort of English up with which I will not put) **

Really enjoyed this short Christmas mystery novella. I have not had the pleasure of reading the Tidewater Inn series but it on my to-read list. This story was charming, exciting and had a super sweet surprise at the end. Perfect read for a short Christmas story full of romance and mystery.

A Christmas novella which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I don't like short stories, as they are, by their very nature, rushed.

But this one was a lovely story, and I read it in maybe an hour or so.

All is Bright (2015, Thomas Nelson) is a short novella following the Hope Beach trilogy by Colleen Coble. It’s a standalone contemporary Christian romantic suspense. I have liked Colleen Coble ever since I read The Lightkeeper’s Ball . Her books have consistently been 4 or 5 star reads for me. I think this one rates 4 ½ stars!

The Heroine

Thirty-three year-old Deliah Carter has been the manager of Tidewater Inn for ten years. While she’s en route to the craft store, someone runs her off the road and into the ocean. She manages to escape, but is understandably shaken by the attempt on her life. Deliah has also recently been receiving some strange hang-up calls. Deliah is the epitome of kindness, and there really doesn’t seem to be any reason for her to be targeted.

The Hero

Sheriff Tom Bourne, 37, has admired Deliah for a while. He “had thought about asking her out a few times, but she was way out of his league.” Now he has the opportunity to be her hero, in more than one way.

What I liked:

* Characters from the three Hope Beach books are blended well into this story.

*I like Deliah. She’s very helpful, competent, and she works hard. I can relate to not being able to squeeze in time for extras.

*I really enjoyed the suspenseful resolution. Ms. Coble is great at this!

What I didn’t like:

*At one point, Tom says, “You can tell me to go away if you want, but I’ll keep knocking on your door until you give us a chance.” Tom is a gentleman, so I’m sure that if Deliah were to make it clear that she’s not interested, he would back off. However, I’m objecting to his wording, because it’s important to suit your actions to your words, and I question whether he would/could do that. I think it was intended as a romantic rather than pushy statement, but it pulled me out of the story.

***********************************************

I will be reading more of Colleen Coble’s novels, specifically Wyoming (1998), which is a four-in-one book and Smitten (2011). I would certainly recommend All is Bright to fans of Christian (or clean) romantic suspense. However, if you plan on reading other Colleen Coble books, you might want to wait until you read the Hope Beach series so you can catch the references to the hero/heroine pairs from the first three books.

I definitely preferred Colleen Coble's Hawaiian series or her Alaskan book.

I almost never fall asleep reading books, and I fell asleep twice reading this one. I'll blame that on my surgery pain meds, but it still felt like the author spent a great deal of time with bit characters that were peripheral to the plot. I suspect those characters showed up in other books, and so she just wanted us to meet them again, but there were so many, and they seemed so superfluous. I had read the first story ("All is Calm") in this book at Christmas a year ago, and I even went back to find out who some of these characters were, without success.

Having run into the same issue with a different author (Lauraine Snelling) recently, I've decided, because I'm currently cranky, that I don't like the trend recently of different nearly-stand-alone romance books being intertwined with other books like that. Either make them a clear part of a series and number them, or else let them be true stand-alone books. I don't generally read enough of the romance genre to get all the references. I do enjoy a well-written romance from time to time, but I don't dwell there.

Most of the top positive reviewers commented that Colleen Coble fans would like this, meaning perhaps, that those who aren't as familiar with Colleen Coble are less likely to enjoy it. But I DO consider myself a Colleen Coble fan because of that Hawaiian series, even if I am not a frequent reader of hers. So, to be more accurate, I think frequent readers of Colleen Coble, who were caught up on all her books, would be more likely to enjoy this.

This book was more of a romance and less of a suspenseful mystery. It started off well, but just couldn't keep me awake, although honestly, that may have been a challenge for any book.

Why would a police officer tell a stalking victim, "You can tell me to go away if you want, but I'll keep knocking on your door until you give us a chance."? That sounds too much like stalking itself. It made me wonder if the cop/boyfriend would've been a stalker himself if she'd refused him.

Favorite quote:
"Is that why you do so much for everyone else? You feel you have to prove yourself? People love you for who you are. You don't have to work so hard at it."

I have always loved reading Colleen Coble’s books and this was no exception. We meet Delilah and Tom who are both lonely people heading into Christmas. Delilah masks her loneliness by helping others. Tom masks his by keeping busy with Sheriff work. When Delilah is attacked Tom has the perfect opportunity to stay close to her. As they are trying to discover who is attacking Delilah, we are caught up to date on the lives of the other characters from “The Hope Beach Series”. The only problem I had with the book is that it was too short. It would have been nice to have a little more character development. I realize novellas are short, so that wasn’t a possibility. Overall it was a very book and I would recommend this book to anyone.
I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way

Okay, Christmas is still a little more than two months away, but reading about Christmas for me could be an everyday occurrence. I love Christmas, I love Christmas movies and I love to read Christmas books.

My newest venture into reading a Christmas story was reading All is Bright by Colleen Coble. This is a wonderful novella that tells the story of Delilah Carter, who manages the Tidewater Inn and Tom Bourne, the Sheriff of Hope Beach.

All is Bright begins when Delilah is ran off the road into the freezing waters of the Atlantic. Thankfully some locals saw her car plunge into the water and come to her rescue. So starts the twists and turns of this wonderful novella.

I love being able to pick up a book and read it in one sitting. I did just that with All is Bright. The fact that I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time added to the suspense for me.

Since novellas are shorter than a novel, I sometimes close the book wishing I knew what happened next. Ms. Coble gives the reader a nice closer with the Epilogue which happens three years after the story begins. Thank you for this gift Ms. Coble.

I would highly recommend All is Bright to anyone who loves a quick read, a story set during Christmas or a fan of Colleen Coble. I promise you won't be disappointed.

On a 5-star scale - 4 Stars!!!!

I would like to thank BookLook Bloggers and Net Galley for my e-copy of All is Bright. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done

If you like a big of suspenseful mystery along with some romance then you will like Coleen Coble's books. This novella All is Bright, didn't disappoint except it could have been a novel instead of a novella. However It is a part of the Hope Beach Novels, which I must now read.
Delilah Carter is manages the Tidewater Inn when someone makes an attempt on her life. When Tom Bourne, the local sheriff, looks into the incident the sparks they both have been trying to ignore are ignited.
The story the unfolds will perhaps surprise you as to the perpetrator, but that is what makes a mystery so compelling. Colleen does know how to meld it all together to hold your interest and intrigue to the end.
You will enjoy the book I'm sure and keep you coming back for more of her stories.
I received this book free for an honest review from Thomas Nelson.

For a shorter story this book packs in a lot! In typical Colleen Coble style, the book starts off strong with suspense and intrigue. I have read all of the books in this setting of Tidewater Inn and it was fun to read this story. Delilah is almost killed and the story is trying to figure out who did this and why. Since this is a fairly short book, the ending wraps up nicely, though the romance is rather rushed along.

If you are a Coble fan you need to read this book. If you are new to this setting, this is a stand alone novel, but I recommend you read the other books in the series first.

ALL IS BRIGHT is the newest book in Ms. Coble's series set at Tidewater Inn. Fans will enjoy reconnecting with some previous characters and getting to know Delilah and Tom. It was very sweet the way Tom went out of his way to get the perfect Christmas gift for Delilah. I know Ms. Coble writes romantic suspense, but it still took me by surprise when Delilah was rear-ended and knocked into the ocean. I wondered who was behind it, and why. I never did guess who did it, but I did have some *wrong* ideas. A Very sweet novella, quickly read, but satisfying. Recommended.

Poor Delilah! A sweet lady with a tragic past, Delilah loves to take care of others and couldn't possibly have any enemies. Or could she? Someone seems to be out to get her.
This was a quick, fun, read. If you are looking for a bit of mystery and romance with your Christmas cheer this is the book for you.

Delilah Carter, manager of the Tidewater Inn, has been busy planning a Christmas wedding for her friends, but someone runs her off the road and into the ocean one night. She tries to downplay it as a mere accident afterwards, but she isn't really buying it, and neither is Sheriff Tom Bourne, the man who's been harboring feelings for Delilah in All is Bright: A Hope Beach Christmas Novella by author Colleen Coble.

I've not read any of the Hope Beach novels, and this book includes a lot of characters whose stories I'm sure have already been told. While I figured the brief mentions and appearances of those characters would have been meaningful to me if I'd read the other books, I was only interested in Delilah and Tom's story here.

Even with the darker thread of suspense running through this, much of the story was an easy read for me. Because it's clear that Delilah and Tom have got some background together, the development of their relationship doesn't come off as rushed or as if their strengthening emotions are popping out of nowhere.

Now, the critical point of danger in the story is a rather obvious setup, more convenient than believable. But the best part of the story for me concerns an awesome Christmas gift that warmed my heart along with the characters.

And, yes, the Christmas lights and the homey feel captured on a softly bright evening on the book cover got me to read this novella.

All Is Bright is a novella by Colleen Coble in the Hope Beach series. Delilah Carter is the manager of Tidewater Inn and was planning a Christmas wedding for her friend. However, someone wants her dead. After Delilah was run off the road and received threatening phone calls, Sheriff Tom Bourne stepped in to keep her safe. The readers of All Is Bright will continue to follow Delilah and Tom to discover what happens.

All Is Bright is another fantastic book by Colleen Coble. I engaged with All Is Bright from the first page until the last. I enjoy how Colleen Coble incorporates her religious beliefs so that you can still enjoy this book even if you are not so passionate about religion. I love Colleen Coble's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. All Is Bright is well-written and researched by Colleen Coble. I like Colleen Coble's description of the settings of All Is Bright, which allows me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

The reader of All Is Bright will learn about running a rural boutique, Inn. Also, the readers will understand the role of readers of All Is Bright and will learn about the issues that children have when they are separated after their parents die.

I recommend this book.

Delilah has spent the last several years of her life serving. She knows her past isn't sunshine and lollipops but now that she's a Christian she wants to make up for all of that. It's how she finds herself planning her friends Christmas wedding, while still helping to run the inn. When someone runs her off the road and she nearly dies, she admits to herself that the mysterious phone calls she's received may not be coincidence after all. When Sheriff Tom steps in to hep, the 2 have a hard time ignoring their attraction, but it will take a Christmas miracle for everything to go according to plan
Another series I hadn't read the previous books to, but am currently reading the first book in the series now. Well written and a twist ending will keep you wanting to turn the next page

Delilah's second chance

Delilah Carter had come to Tidewater Inn to escape her past. She'd lost her parents in a terrible car accident and had lost track of her only sibling, Adam. But now it seems someone wanted to harm her, maybe even kill her. Could the local sheriff keep her safe? Who could possibly have a grudge against her? Sheriff Tom Bourne would sooner cut off his right arm than have anything happen to Delilah, who he was beginning to care for. He'd lost his wife to a serious illness and couldn't bear to lose Delilah too. Who was stalking her and why? Nothing made sense. Delilah wondered if her past had caught up with her.

A quick Christmas delight! I really enjoy Colleen Coble's writing and the wholesome characters she brings to life.

This Christmas novella has us back at Tidewater Inn and makes me want to have a cozy, seaside Christmas (without the danger!)

Favorite Quotes:
- She wanted the same thing Vanessa did, a real family, not just a family circle she was lucky enough to be invited into.
- Was this an invitation from God to walk through an unknown door? A tiny sprout unfurled inside and reached for the sunshine of hope. Maybe it was, and she wasn't going to pull it up by the roots. Not this time.

Let me start by saying this. All is Bright reminded me just how bad the dating scene can be and that I am beyond blessed to be married! Poor Delilah had a rough start in life. She lost both her parents and brother at the young age of 13, got passed around in the foster care system, and now someone is trying to unalive her! I absolutely loved this mystery, but the romance side of it was great as well. Sheriff Tom Bourne is so protective of Delilah and would drop everything just to hang out with her. My only complaint is that this short story was short. I loved it so much that I wish it was a novel.

Meh.
I don't know when it was decided religious romances had to be boring and not age-appropriate, but here we are.
Sure the story was cute, but the main characters were 33 and 37, so cute isn't a compliment. Their inner dialogue was so immature I rolled my eyes more than once. Had Coble written a middle school love story the writing as it was would have been fine.
It really is a shame the book was so blah because the whodunit, better developed, would have been really entertaining. And the ending would have been very satisfying with a stronger story.
I know there is an audience for this sort of frufru knight-in-shining armor drivel, but readers deserve better.

I wish more than anything that the author had let us know if Sara and Josh got married finally. Honestly, I was more invested in their story.
The love story that we got a glimpse of in book one (Tidewater Inn), a slight tease of in book 2 (Rosemary Cottage), and a quick finish in books 3 (Seagrass Pier).
But, then the reader reads this book and finds out Sara and Josh still haven’t gotten their “happily ever after.” However, the question remains: “will they get their ‘Happily Ever After?’
I just don’t like cliffhangers at the end of a series.
