cant believe this is my first read of the year but i saw this on an insta ad and here i am after waiting for every 6 hours for new chapters....
anw, it started good tbh! but then the ending felt rushed. and i find it weird that Mason had a scholarship for a qb and ended up a doctor? timeskipjust aint my thing ig
I feel like I stooped to a new low by allowing myself to spend time reading this. but sometimes you need a stupid, cheesy, predictable read. 2 stars bc it was interesting but also very poorly written
if i’m being honest, i don’t even know why i read this book in the first place. was it good? more or less. did i enjoy having to wait six hours for the next chapter? no. and yet i still read it, because it honestly felt just like the fanfictions i used to read on wattpad… 😭
Somewhere between 2.5-3 stars. I saw the plot line in an Instagram ad and was like I have to read this, and got sucked in pretty quickly. Then when the free chapters were gone and the site gave me an option to subscribe or wait 6 hours for the next chapter, I went ahead and subscribed 😂
Upside: the main characters, Mason & Lily, were super likable, a lot of tension and angst really made it a page turner (or scroller, cause you know it’s an app lol). My jaw hit the floor at the little twists & turns throughout.
Downside: Plot holes galore, very cliché style writing and it was very obvious the author knows ZERO about sports. The football game scenes could have been way better had the author did a little research about the sport especially for high school. The likelihood two rival high schools play each other three, let alone four, times in a season AND in the state championship?! Highly unlikely. And for the love of all that is holy, the quarterback is the one who throws the ball. Like how did this get past editors 🤦🏽♀️ Getting offered a full ride to college just by happenstance after a game?!?! Never going to happen. And the volleyball setup was weird too. They played beach volleyball (two players instead of 6)…indoors…in the fall. I’m confused lol. And is where my mother would say, “it’s just Hollywood, Drew, we know it’s fake.” BUT STILL.
I would have loved Oliver and Leah to be explored a little bit more too, they barely had any presence depsite their affair being the cornerstone of Mason and Lily’s meeting. Lastly (since I’m on a roll here), the ending felt rather rushed, and the epilogue left much to be desired. I think Mason would have planned a much better proposal than that.

The book itself is fantastic—I'm really enjoying it so far. Unfortunately, I’m giving it 3 stars due to its limited availability. It's only accessible through the Galatea app, which forces readers to either wait six hours between short chapters or pay to unlock each one individually. It’s incredibly discouraging for someone who just wants to immerse themselves in a good story. If I could buy a physical copy or at least a Kindle edition, I’d give it 5 stars and probably finish it within 48 hours.
Omg this book was so bad. I got sucked in by an Instagram ad that teased me with 4 free chapters that were actually pretty good… and after that I only had access to one chapter every 6 hours?! I persisted. Was it worth it? Not really, no. But once I had committed to waiting for each chapter that way, I could not give up.
This book MUST have been written by AI. Like… it’s just wild how bad it got. The further in, the less consistent and paced the plot was. Don’t read. Don’t read anything on this platform that only gives you access to one chapter every SIX HOURS. I’m sure they are also written by AI.
This is the fast-food of books. The advertisement pulls you in. Turns out to be not as advertised. (I'm looking at you ig ad with a scene that wasn't even in the book). Approached it with low expectations in hopes of a quick distraction read, and it was able to deliver that.
It's OK for what it is. A quick, cheesy read that works for a guilty pleasure once in a while but completely lacked in any substance. If you want an easy read, that may have been written by AI, that will keep you entertained enough, and wrap all loose ends by the last page, this book fits the bill.
Interesting and kind of cute story, but I think it could've had a bit more meat to it. The starting premise did hold my attention, the characters were charming, and some even had more depth than I expected! Although I thought the parents just popping in and out and around felt a bit detached from the story. And also, without spoiling anything, the plot point between her parents felt very random/out of place, and forced by the end. I probably won't read the next one, but it was a relatively chill/sweet read.
Instagram ad made me do it LMFAOOO super cliche and predictable, high school rivals fall in love. Straight to the point writing and a little plot twist for funsies
First off. I just want to say that I do love this book and I’m not even finished reading it. The reason I have it 3 stars is there is (to my knowledge) no way to purchase it outright to own it so the only way I can read it is through the Galatea app and read the free episodes released every 5 hours or purchasing enough points to read it. I would much rather buy the book through kobo or get a physical copy through the author herself.
J’ai été prise dans l’histoire, Mais mon dieu que c’est mal écrit / traduit. Y a parfois des passages entiers que j’ai pas compris tellement c’est mal écrit Et comme d’hab on pas de surprise sur la fin de l’histoire haha
Well like many others I think the Instagram ad is what captured many to read. I was one of the many I believe captured as well. The first half of the story is what attracted me. I was definitely really interested, but what lost me was the last half of the story. It just felt rush and was poorly written. The second half is just what through me off….I guess I’ll give it two stars because I did like the beginning of the story.
Addicting. Was it the best piece of writing I have ever laid my eyes upon? Definitely not. However, it could be!
As a story line I loved most of it. I loved especially the fact that the couple gets together early on in the book and we actually get to bask as their relationship develops and flourishes. It is the first time I found a book like this, and I’m here for it! I was addicted to the story, and read it in 2 days. It was just what I needed!
Now, to become one of the best? The characters need a lot more back story and some aspects of them need better explanations (especially the parent-daughter relationship!) Furthermore, I feel the summer they spend together should be dragged out, almost entailing every day in that month. That would make it feel like a slower more natural build up to their relationship. Then I would just add more events and adversities the couple needs to overcome from school to friends to just growing up, without them breaking up of course! And lastly I would create a bigger context in the beginning of the story so we all feel her pain when she catches Olly and Leah. Lastly, the ending felt super rushed and the epilogue was compl forced, I would much rather have book 2 and 3 depicting their story through university and adult life haha. Also Mason a doctor??? I thought he’d become an NFL superstar.
I’m giving it 3.5✨ because it has been a long time since I’ve been this addicted to the story. But there is definitely room for improvement and I hope to see it if the book ever gets published.
Spoiler - there were parts of this book that annoyed me mainly Lilys mum didn’t really understand why she hated her own daughter so much. She had a son he died as a baby so how could she know what he would turn out like and to be mad that Lily wasn’t doing what she expected. Would have been better story telling if Lily was a twin and the twin boy died during a difficult birth. So the mum had underlying resentment. Lily got over it pretty quickly I would be devastated
Also the synopsis gave the impression that a cheerleader from one school went over to kiss the QB of the other school after catching her boyfriend cheating and they had no prior relationship. Would have been an interesting starting place
However, I did enjoy Lily and Masons story and falling in love. Although I think more background was needed to Lilys life before Mason and her old friends. She didn’t seem that distraught or miss her ex-boyfriend a little cry and she was all better. If they had been dating seriously for two years then surely she would have spent more time upset. And then eventually do the list with mason to try and get over Olly instead of forgetting him in a few hours and going skinny dipping with a stranger. Overall enjoyed parts of the story would love it to be more in-depth
The storyline of this plot, though somewhat “cliche” was so well written to the point where I read most of it all in one night. I read the first couple of chapters earlier when I found it through an Instagram ad and lost it until today, could not put my phone down until I was finished with the book. The characters were great, the love story is great and let’s just say I want a Mason Cooper in my life because holy hell is he a description of the perfect guy! Would definitely recommend it to anyone!!
its been a doom scroll Instagram sort of week - I fell for the ads - I fell for the waiting six hours between chapters - I fell for the very basic but cute characters and their issues - but lordy lordy was this the most basic watt pad writing of all time . it felt like a year 7 creative writing task, and that's by no means a positive comment. yet I can't rate it lower because I did kind of enjoy myself , and hate myself for it at the same time
It could have been so good but I'm kind of suspicious of 1. the covers which look AI generated and 2. the conclusion of the first book, which fell flat for me, and honestly felt like it was written by AI
I found this story on TikTok and honestly enjoyed it allot more than I thought I would. The writing needed a little work but it was easy to follow and I enjoyed the relationship between Lily & Mason.
