The last time Louisa saw Harry Rawlins was the night he proposed to her after prom. After ten years of living thousands of miles away from her small hometown, she runs right back after a humiliating ending to her career. Diner work and the odd shift at the Italian restaurant she lives above has her fighting up from rock bottom. But when the one person she has been hoping to avoid is a regular at the diner, she is faced with her past. And the hopes and dreams that died after she fled.
Harry Rawlins keeps his head down and works his fingers to the bone, if only to keep out of his old man's way. Nothing good comes from getting on his wrong side. It's been ten years since Louisa left. Still, every day she finds her way into his thoughts. His world is tipped upside down on a regular trip into Lewistown to his favorite diner. Distraction is the last thing he needs. And bad turns to worse when he discovers some other guy has her attention. The cards he has precariously stacked, to keep him and his Ma fed and housed, come tumbling down. One after the other.
True North is everything I love in a small town, second chance romance: raw, emotional, and deeply satisfying. From the first page, I was completely swept away by the story of Louisa and Harry. After ten years apart, their reunion is messy, painful, tender, and so incredibly real. Their love never truly faded. It just waited for the right moment to find its way back.
Harry Rawlins might be the most unforgettable hero yet. Hardworking, quietly devoted, and full of grit, he carries the weight of his world on his shoulders but never lets it dim the way he loves. Louisa, fiery and resilient, is the kind of woman you root for from the moment she walks back into town with nothing but her pride and a broken dream. Together, they’re pure fire. Their chemistry is off the charts. But it’s the depth of their emotional connection and mutual respect that had me crying one moment and smiling through tears the next.
The way Alexandra weaves heavy themes like grief, regret, and sacrifice into such a heartwarming, hopeful narrative is truly masterful. You feel every ache, every touch, every longing glance. This story broke my heart and healed it, page by page. And the backdrop of Rosewood Ranch adds its own kind of magic. Honestly, take me there. I never want to leave.
I’ve adored the other books in the series but True North feels like a perfect finale. The Rawlins boys have all captured our hearts but Harry; He raised the bar. This book is a love letter to enduring connection, forgiveness, and the kind of love that never lets go.
Bravo, Alexandra. What a way to end an unforgettable journey.
4.65⭐️ | 3.5🌶 I think this might just be my favourite Rosewood Rach novel. Every single thing Harry and Louisa went through to get to where they are in previous books makes sense now. Oh and my dislike of Harry? Completely out the window. This man. He is what a man should be. He loves hard. Like Lou was his air and without her he was nothing. Lou loved just as hard. I hate what his mom sacrificed but everything worked out. Perfect ending to the series. Thank you to Alex for the arc.
I'm embarrassed to say, but this was my first "cowboy romance" book and well, it certainly won't be my last as I loved this so much. I'd give this more stars if I could.
This is Louisa & Harry's story and it's hella sweet, raunchy, heartbreaking enough for a tear or two, there's so much love between Lou and Harry that I can't even find the right words to describe it. This book is well-written, and it had me hooked from the very start.
I'm also a little glad I read this one first, as the first three books are about Louisa & Harry's kids (well three of them anyway). I wasn't confused as I knew this going in, and didn't find this hard to follow at all. Alexandra why have I not discovered you before? I've now gone and added the other three books in this series to my next reads. Thank you Alexandra Banks for allowing me to arc this :)
True North by @author_alexandrabanks Rosewood Ranch Series Book 4
Wow,what can I say.. Those Rawlins boys definitely take after their father.. Never have truer words been said than ‘Like father like son’ This is the story where it all started. Harry and Louisa.. Been so looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint.. Full of angst, heartbreak, forgiveness and so much more.. Don’t be fooled into thinking Harry Rawlins is the grump you’ve been led to believe. That man is all man with a heart of gold and he definitely met his captain of his ship in Louisa.. Everyone needs a Louisa in their life..the strong willed and supportive other half of this perfect couple.. Absolutely loved their story from start to finish.. I want to now sit on a wraparound porch on Rosewood Ranch and have multiple cowboys to watch over… Thank u so much for this arc.. Can’t wait to read more by this lovely lady..
Someone take me back in time to the early days of Rosewood Ranch, because I never want to leave that place. This book shattered my heart completely and then put it back together piece by piece actually I’ll say Harrison and Louisa shattered me but it’s okay because this book made me adore them even more. Move over Rawlins boys, your daddy is here and he ain’t playing, he set the bar to an all time high! ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ Harrison is a hardworking man who would do absolutely anything and everything for the people he loves and cares for and Louisa is the kind of woman who knows when and how to push him just right and when to love him even more. Together they go through it all, while you are left over here routing for them and cheering them on. The anger, the heartache, the true love, the forgiveness. It seeps into you and doesn’t let you go it makes you hooked and you just can’t put this book down
True North completely stole my heart. This beautifully written second-chance cowboy romance follows Harry and Louisa as they navigate love, loss, and the early days of building Rosewood Ranch. Their story is both tender and powerful—full of emotional depth, grit, and hope. Watching them find their way back to each other while also laying the foundation for a legacy was incredibly moving. Alexandra Banks does a wonderful job of blending romance with rich storytelling and a vivid sense of place. If you love heartfelt romance with strong characters and a hint of western charm, this one’s a must-read.
Omg Alexandra, you did it again. All your books have been 5⭐️ for me. When I read you were writing about the parents (Harry and Louisa) I wasn’t quite sure. But was I wrong and I am so glad to wrong. Superbly written, it kept me wanting to read it until the end. I can’t believe you made me cry though 🤣. Can’t wait for the next one.
This story shattered my heart and put it back together piece by piece.
Move over Rawlins boys, your daddy is here and he set the bar even higher!
Harry is a hardworking man who would do anything for the people he loves and Louisa is the kind of woman who knows when to push him and when to love him even harder. Together they face it all, while you are left cheering them on.
The heartache, the anger, the forgiveness, the love, the devotion you feel it all. It makes it's way into your heart and doesn't let go.
My god where do I begin? True North was an emotional roller coaster that hit close too home in nearly every sense. After meeting three of the four Rawlins’ boys in the previous novels, we now get the origin story of their parents in a refreshing second chance romance for the ages.
Perhaps the best thing about True North is that it isn’t set in the present day, there’s no mobile phones or social media and genuine chivalry still exists. But it is also set at a time where the world is changing and Miss Louisa May is not bound by societal standards (did someone ask for a strong FMC).
I laughed, cried (a little too much - you’ll realise when you get there) and sweated through the spicy times. Alexandra Banks is a master of balancing the spice with the plot, with nothing feeling forced and everything genuinely fitting with the storyline - enter the fencing pliers (that’s all I’m going to say).
Harry and Lou are best friends and have each others best interests at heart at every step of the way, and this is truly one of the most enjoyable reads I have had in a while, there is no second act break up and it is a HEA (don’t come for me saying its a spoiler, there are three other books prior to this one that confirm this is the case). It is also a beautiful and realistic representation of a young couple trying to make their way in the world (if you’re the same age as them and just bought your own farm with your grumpy sunshine farmer named Harry and are stressed our of your brains then you’ll understand - too much of a coincidence if you ask me).
You do not need to have read the first three books to read this one, and please, if there is one book you read this year, let this be it. I cannot wait to see what is in store for Alexandra Banks next!
Alexandra You’ve done it again! By far my favourite cowboy romance series! Beautifully and thoughtfully written with fabulous characters banter & just the right amount of spice. Omg!!! Didn’t see myself falling for yet another Rawlins man.. Guess the joke was on me hahaha Harry (AKA Papa Rawlins) is just everything! He is gorgeous, hard working, charming and full of sass, wit and attitude. Perfectly encapsulating all the best qualities and quirks of his sons we’ve come to know and love in the previous books. Lou is my absolute spirt animal. I love everything about this woman. Mama can hold her own & certainly knows her way around a kitchen! With these two as their parents it’s no wonder the Rawlins brothers are as all amazing as they are! This was Everything you want in a second chance romance. The chemistry between these two is perfection. My heart broke numerous times through out their story & how heartwarming it is to see their mutual support of each other's dreams. I adore these two so so much and have a whole New found love & respect for the magical Rosewood ranch! I love how eloquently incorporated are heavy topics , but in the most palatable and relatable way. I’ve been here from the start and I’m so sad this series has come to an end but look forward to seeing what this author has lined up next! Thank you once again for another amazing ARC in exchange for my honest review.
summary True North is the story where it all started. This book is the origin story. This book was full of forgiveness, love, angst and a grumpy cowboy with his eyes on one woman only. Harry is grumpy but has a complete heart of gold and is obsessed with his woman. This book starts when they are teenagers, something happens and they don’t talk for 10 years. When Louisa comes back to rosewood everything changes and they have to work through forgiveness to give everything another go. This book was so good and i can’t wait to read more of this author
Tropes .Second chance romance .Its always been you .Close nit family .Grumpy sunshine .Soft love triangle .Spicey .He fell first & Has always loved her .High school sweethearts .Set in a ranch in Montana
Quotes .”like i never hated you lou. i damn well love you, woman. always have, always will. you can’t just turn off something that strong. it do .”nothings changed for me. not a damn thing. I still think about her every minute of every godforsaken day. Have since the day we met. Even during the 10 years we were apart, she was never far from my mind” .”i didn’t only find myself. i found what i needed.my true north”
First things first—as a woman who grew up on a farm, I still had to Google what fence pliers looked like for this book because... how?! 😂
I didn’t realize how much I needed Daddy Rawlins’ story until it landed in my hands—and suddenly, I had to read it. It was so satisfying to see where Hudson got his stubborn streak and where Reed’s anxiety stems from.
But truly, Harry and Lou’s story was beautiful. Romantic, raw, and packed with emotion—I lost count of how many times I teared up. The heartbreak, the love, the quiet moments... it all hit so hard in the best way.
The spice? Just the right amount. The sweetness? Off the charts. And getting a glimpse into Harry’s past, especially how much Ma influenced both him and Lou, made it all even more meaningful.
This story is going to live rent-free in my head for a long, long time.
What it’s about… It’s been ten years since Harry last saw Louisa, she fled after Harry proposed to her after prom to chase her. With her tail between her legs Louisa returns to her small hometown after a humiliating end to her career. Those thousands of miles could not lessen the pulling need she had for Harry, but she is not ready to face her past and he’s not ready to face her. Harry has spent ten years trying to get Louisa out of his head and has failed miserably, every day he found her creeping into his thoughts.
Harry has not had an easy life, but he keeps his head down and works hard. Look out to anyone who gets in his way because he will do his damdest to keep him and his Ma housed and fed. His house of cards feels like it is starting to tumble after one of his visits to his favourite diner, when his world is tipped upside down after running into Louisa. This is a distraction that he does not need. But he cannot look the other way after discovering another guy wants her attention.
My thoughts… I wasn’t sure this was a story I wanted to read, until the end of Saving Grace then I was intrigued. But boy was I wrong, Harry and Louisa Rawlins is a story you want to read, I also had Harry all wrong and 🥵 damn. The chemistry between these two is phenomenal, partly because Lousia is trying to deny how much she wants Harry and he is doing his damndest to not spook her with how much he wants her.. That man learnt his lesson and he is adjusting his approach.
There is a scene in the barn which is🔥. Although I did have a split reaction of dammmn that is hot, but also OMG where have those pliers been!?!
I love that the town is in on getting them together and Harry’s mum is not subtle at all with putting the two in each other's path. Truly, fantastic small town antics.
This book rounds out the other three so nicely, we get the origin story behind each of the men calling their women captain and why Harry kept sending his boys to fix the fences when they needed to think. I am hanging out for Law’s story now, we have had snippets of him throughout the series, will he finally come home to the ranch???
The fourth installment in the Rosewood Ranch series is actually it's origin story, and it's an excellent one. True North takes us back to when Harry and Louisa are teens and first dating, and then again to when they reunite after 10 years apart.
This story was both heart wrenching and so wholesome, but also the mouth on Harry Rawlins will make you combust! The things that Harry and Luisa have to endure to finally get their HEA, makes the HEA that much sweeter.
I really enjoyed this origin story! You could easily read this book first and then read the rest of the series and you would have some insight into what makes the Rawlins boys who they are. In fact, if you have read the rest of the Rosewood Ranch books, after reading True North, you will understand exactly how those Rawlins boys got as stubborn and passionate as they are. No wonder they are such grumpy cinnamon rolls - their father sets the standard!
A fabulous way to wrap up the Rosewood Ranch series!
The perfect ending to the series with the couple that started it all. Harry had a rough life growing up on the ranch with his alcoholic father. He wants nothing more than to get away and take his Ma with him. Louisa wants more than a small town life. So she runs when Harry proposed after her senior prom. Ten years later, she's been through culinary school and working on a cooking tv show. When that doesn't work out, she heads back to Montana. Seeing Harry again, all the old feelings rush back. Can they be friends or maybe more? Harry does all he can to prove that his love is still just as strong.
This book was fantastic, and I could NOT stop reading it. I thought it would be weird reading about the Rawlins’ parents, but it shows where their love for family comes from.
Harry was such a sweetie and always put his mother and Louisa first. It was refreshing to see a couple get their second chance and both fight for it. Harry put his all into getting Louisa back while building the life for himself that he wanted.
Louisa was hard for me to like at first, but she grew on me fast when she started cooking with Ma. Louisa was scared of being stuck in her hometown and wanted big dreams, but ultimately realized that she wanted her small town life. Louisa was determined to be the best, and gave herself little room for error. I loved watching Harry help Louisa grow into herself.
This book gave me all the feels and a real view at what life on a cattle ranch is like. I love that Alexandra did not romanticize it, and truly showed what being a cattle rancher entails. This book was perfect from start to finish and will make you want to keep reading!
True North by Alexandra Banks is nothing short of a masterpiece and probably my favorite of this series. As the fourth installment in the Rosewood Ranch series, this story steps back in time to give us the emotional, tender, and downright unforgettable story of Harry and Louisa, who are the mother and father origin story that leads to books 1-3. While it can be read as a standalone, the emotional weight and beauty of True North are amplified if you've followed the journey of their boys through the previous three books.
Set in 1982 Montana, this grumpy/sunshine, second chance romance is everything I didn’t know I needed. Harry Rawlins is a man shaped by hardship; he is tough as nails on the outside, but all heart where it counts. And Louisa? She’s fierce, independent, and driven by a dream to become the next Julia Child. Watching these two find their way back to each other after ten years apart was both gut wrenching and satisfying.
I thought their chemistry was so palpable, like I could just feel how much they loved each other, despite their obstacles, time, and distance. The spice was also so good! Let’s just say Harry’s filthy mouth had me clutching my pearls in the best way possible. And yes… the fencing pliers. You’ll know when you know. 😏
This book broke me and healed me, sometimes within the same chapter. I laughed. I cried. I smiled and giggled and kicked my feet. Rosie, Harry’s mother, stole my heart. She has such unwavering love for Harry and her belief in his future with Louisa made me love her even more. The way she held their love story together in the background? It was really beautiful.
Harry has always loved Louisa. That "he fell first and never stopped" energy radiates through every page. Louisa is the kind of FMC who doesn't back down. She sees Harry’s pain, meets his insecurities head on, and still stands tall. Their love wasn’t easy, but it was real. Raw. Powerful. And deeply earned.
We don't have just tropes and drama. There's no breakup, but just two people determined to make it work through grit, grace, and a whole lot of love. The emotional depth is breathtaking, and Banks balances it with just the right amount of heat, humor, and heart.
If you're craving a cowboy romance with true emotion and a sweet but filthy cowboy, True North is it. And if you've read the rest of the series, this book will hit like a sledgehammer, in the best way possible. The Rawlins family saga has been an incredible ride, and this prequel is the perfect, poignant final piece.
Tropes & Vibes: 🤠 Grumpy/Sunshine 💙 He Fell First & Always Loved Her 🫦 Second Chance Romance/High School Sweethearts 🌶 Perfectly Spicy 🏡 Small Town + Montana Ranch 👨👩👦👦 Close Knit Family 📞 Vintage Vibes (long corded phones)
Alexandra Banks has done it again with True North, the breathtaking fourth installment in the Rosewood Ranch series. This time, we get Louisa and Harry’s story a grumpy/sunshine, second-chance romance set against the rugged beauty of 1982 Montana. And let me tell you, it’s everything you didn’t know you needed in a cowboy romance.
Harry Rawlins is the ultimate cowboy tough, stoic, shaped by hardship, yet full of heart when it matters most. Louisa is his perfect match fierce, independent, and chasing her dream of becoming the next Julia Child. Together, they light up the page with a love story that’s as sweet as it is spicy, heartbreaking yet full of hope.
Their story takes us back to their teenage years, when they first fell in love, and then leaps forward ten years to their unexpected reunion. Louisa returns home, not expecting Harry to still be single or still carry a torch for her. Determined not to fall for him again, she starts dating someone else. But their connection is undeniable, and despite the coldness and distance at first, love has a way of finding its way back. With the help of Harry’s mother and a few determined townspeople, their love story begins to rekindle.
The chemistry between Harry and Louisa is electric, and their journey back to each other is raw, emotional, and deeply satisfying. This isn’t just a romance it’s a story of dreams, second chances, and the kind of love that makes you believe in forever. Watching them support each other, fight for each other, and grow together was truly magical.
If you’re in the mood for a cowboy romance that hits every note True North is the book for you.
Move over, Rawlins boys Daddy Harry just set the bar even higher.
True North is heartfelt, addictive, and one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had in a long time. Highly, highly recommend.
Note: Please read TWs before reading the book. Also, please note that I read this book as a standalone. Not really a spoiler, but from the comments, I was made aware that the other books in the series are centered around the sons of the MCs in this book. This book is the parents' book, so it can be read as a standalone, and I picked this one first.
Let me start off by saying that a lot of books that I have read in a similar genre, I was able to get through them and handle the grief and loss described in those books but for some reason, in this book, around the halfway mark, when I had enough of the amount of losses, I just struggled to move forward and complete the book. I really loved the MCs, especially how strong and smart the FMC was, but for me, getting through the number of losses in this book was heartbreaking, and I just couldn't get myself to read the last half of the book word for word. Personally, if it weren't for just the overload of loss and grief, I would have gotten through the book diligently, and I would have loved it more. There was no other issue per se with the book. In fact, epilogues are one of my favourite parts of a book, and I loved the number of epilogues set in the future (and it seems like slightly introducing the first book in the series about the oldest son) are there.
Was the book good? Yes. Was it heavily loaded with heartbreaking content? For me, yes. Would I read the remaining books in the series given that I read this as a standalone? Personally, I have not been a person who could read books centered around the future generations of main characters from a book I have read especially if the book had spice because for me it feels weird knowing that I was reading such intimate details about the characters and I had also read intimate details about their parents. So for me, it would be a no. But if you are someone who doesn't mind it, I would say give the series a shot especially given what the MCs in this book, the parents, went through to bring four amazing humans to the world!
This poignant and heartwarming book made me smile, sigh and tear up as I read it, just as a great book should do. Harry is the grumpy, growly and steadfast hero of this story. He is protector to his very marrow and a one woman man to boot. Losing Louisa devastated him, but he came to understand that she needed to follow her dreams, especially at the age of seventeen. He holds no resentment for her and has loved only her even though she left him behind a decade ago.
Louisa (Lou) didn’t run from him and their small home town because she didn’t love Harry. Rather she had big dreams and was afraid that she could never reach for those drams in their small home town. She feared that she would feel trapped and resentful just like her mother, No matter how much Harry wanted to follow her, he couldn’t leave his mother behind to deal with his alcoholic and abusive father. Her dreams didn’t work out the way she had hoped, so Louisa returns to her home town, to regroup and start anew.
Louisa didn’t expect Harry to wait for her or to still be single. Her heart still belongs to him, which is why she starts dating someone else right away to stop herself from going to Harry. At first, there is only distance and coldness between them, but his mother and a few other townspeople are determined to get Harry and Louisa back together. I have to say that I love small towns where everybody knows your business, and matchmakers and meddlers thrive. Harry and Louisa have sizzling chemistry, and hearts that have been battered by love and unfulfilled dreams. They are wary of each other, afraid to trust and afraid to give up on their dreams. Thank goodness they finally realize that dreams change and the biggest and best thing they want and need is each other.
This insightful and inspiring book has my full, heartfelt recommendation.
True North was an absolutely phenomenal, 10/10 read!! 🩵 I loved Louisa and Harry so much, and their story was so emotional, passionate, and just perfect. It was very well written, and had delicious spice 🔥 The plot is so gripping, and it will make you feel ALL the emotions. It will also most likely break you into pieces… but don’t worry, it’ll put you back together! 😌
Louisa is a woman who isn’t afraid to put her foot down and set boundaries for herself and I loved her character and personality so much 🤍 Harry does have a mouth on him, but Louisa is just as dirty, and I was 1000% there for it 🔥 Her inner thoughts had me giggling, and I loved her banter with Harry. Her lessons with Ma were so sweet, and I loved their relationship. She cares so deeply, and it shows in everything she does for Harry & Ma 🩵
Harry is the biggest green flag I’ve ever seen, and I don’t know how anyone couldn’t fall head over heels for him 😍 Now, even though Harry is more on the quiet side, his spicy side is not the same 🔥 He has walls up, and for a good reason, but that doesn’t mean he can ignore or deny what he’s feeling when Louisa comes back into his life. The little schemes his Ma was pulling to get them to see each other had me laughing, and their close relationship was so sweet — i love Ma so much 🩵
This was such an amazing read, and it is one I will be thinking about for awhile! The way she came back into his life and how their relationship developed was paced & written perfectly, and their story had me hooked from the first chapter. This book had me bawling my eyes out, laughing, sweating — all the feels!! The spice was spiiiiiiicing, and it was perfectly balanced with the plot! 🤍
If anyone needs me, I’m off to get myself some of Mama Mancini’s chocolate Italian cake! 🏃🏼♀️ (iykyk🤭)
Topics throughout the book are: 🌳 small town 🐄 grumpy x sunshine 🌻 second chance 🌳 Dual POV’s 🐄 soft love triangle 🌻 high school sweethearts

Available now on KU or Amazon, this series is a must read!
This small-town, second-chance romance is the fourth installment in the beloved Rosewood Ranch series, and it might just be the most emotionally rich yet. Alexandra has an incredible gift for weaving complex emotions—grief, regret, forgiveness, and enduring love—into a story that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. I found myself especially moved, as my husband and I are high school sweethearts of 20 years, and this book captured so much of that journey. Alexandra handles heavy themes with grace and depth, creating a heartwarming, poignant masterpiece that stays with you long after the final page.
Thank you Alexandra for the opportunity in receiving this ARC for my honest review!
🤠 Second Chance 💙 It's Always Been You 🐎 Grumpy X Sunshine 🤠 High School Sweethearts 💙 He Falls First 🐎 Cowboy Romance 💙 Small Town
This was my first Alexandra Banks book I've read and I am so glad this is where I started. Everyone says this is the prequel to all the books and it makes me even more excited to read the rest of this series!
Harry and Louisa were the high school Sweethearts that had their struggles and definitely fell apart to fall back together. They have definitely been through it and came out of the mud together. Not just together but better than before.
Harry is a heard working man that is full of grit and carries the world on his shoulders. And his heart belongs to one woman that got away. Louisa is where his heart is, and he won't let the world dim out his love for her.
Louisa is a is full of fire and she isnthe resilient woman you always hear about but rarely see. Louisa comes back into town with nothing but a broken dream and her pride to keep her warm at night. She is the woman that you want nothing more than to cheer her on, so you make your sign and get your voice ready.
Harry and Louisa together were nothing but pure fire 🔥! They had the chemistry that so many people dream of having! Their emotional connection and mutual respect for each other is what brings you to tears.
Alexandra has such a way of weaving a story to bring you to tears. And I am here for it! I'll gladly come with my stock of tissue just so I can be front row for the show!
🔥 Let's Talk About Sex Baby 🥵: 🌶️🌶️.5 /5
Thank you so much to Alexandra Banks for the free copy 🫶🏻. All opinions are my own, honest and voluntary.
Alexandra Banks doesn’t just tell stories—she crafts legacies. True North is the unforgettable origin story that sets the emotional stage for the beloved characters we’ve come to know in her world. It’s friends to lovers, years apart, slow-burn, and completely soul-wrecking in the best way.
This book was everything I hoped for and more. Alexandra Banks writes with so much heart, depth, and emotion—it’s impossible not to fall completely in love with her characters.
True North is the perfect blend of slow burn, cowboy grit, and friends-to-lovers magic. Louisa and Harry’s story broke me open and stitched me back together in the most beautiful way. The years of longing, the missed chances, the raw tension—it’s all there. And when it finally hits? Fireworks.
Louisa is strong, steady, and unforgettable. Harry? A man of few words but every action speaks volumes—especially when he says “I ain’t asking.” Chills. Literal chills.
This isn’t just a love story—it’s a foundation, the emotional cornerstone of a world I’ve already fallen hard for. Seeing where the stories of the kids I’ve come to love truly begin… it made every moment hit ten times harder.
And the writing? Flawless. Lyrical, emotional, and grounded in every beat of the story. I was completely immersed from start to finish.
Also… I will never, ever look at a pair of pliers the same way again.
“Right here”—I point to my chest - “This is where you belong. You need a direction, then I’m your True North. Trust that.”
Alexandra Banks what are you doing to my poor heart?!
True North is book 4 of the Rosewood Ranch series and I just KNEW Harry and Louisa’s love story was going to be absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful.
Harry Rawlins is a man shaped by hardship due to his rough upbringing with an abusive alcoholic father but somehow this man is a heart of gold. Honestly he’s the perfect example of when a mother raises her son right 🙌 and I just adored Rosie, and her love for her son.
And Louisa? She’s fierce, independent, and driven to become the next Julia Child, but when all of a sudden her plans change, she finds herself back in her old small town trying to avoid the rush of intense emotions she once fled from.
I could just feel how much they loved each other, despite their obstacles, time, and distance from one another. And when they both give into their emotions OH…MY…GOD…. the chemistry and spice between these two was everything.
I knew daddy Harry was going to be filthy and I was not disappointed! Those 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️scenes had me clutching my pearls 😂💦
Watching these two find their way back to each other after a decade apart was both gut wrenching and satisfying. I cried, giggled, cried some more. I didn’t want it to end.
I cannot wait to read about Lawson Rawlins in Sassy Love expected to be released October 2025.
I love how Banks developed her character so flawlessly. Truly, to see Lou go from not knowing where she belonged to discovering herself not only content but truly happy being by Harry’s side through thick and thin was an amazing experience! It can be difficult to develop characters seamlessly and I’ve read quite a lot of books so I know it’s not easy, but Banks made it appear effortless!
Let’s talk about the flow of this series for a moment. Banks started this series off with the stories of 3 of the Rawlin’s boys. These boys and their father, Harry, can’t seem to ever get along. Harry rides them hard with little to no consideration and it forms an opinion of Harry that rides true throughout the series. Very rarely does the reader catch a glimpse of kindness coming from Harry’s character. This last book, True North, takes us back to beginning and allows the reader an intimate insight into why Harry is the way he is and it is phenomenal! From Harry’s character flaws all the way to name of the ranch! The wrap up to this series is addicting, full-circle, all encompassing bliss and makes you want to start all over again because you know more now than you did then! I truly couldn’t be happier about this series wrap-up! Beautifully done ❤️

This is the fine book in the Rosewood Ranch series.
Harry Rawlins - Is a family man, he met Louisa and fell in love with her, things happen and people change, they went their separate ways, Louisa moved away and Harry stayed In his home town.
Louisa - Is young with dreams, ones which made her move away from her home town and away from Harry.
Louisa moves back to town and meets Harry again, things aren't smooth sailing for them, there was alot of hurt, but as always love out weighs that hurt.
Harry and Louisa get their second chance, and what a ride their second chance is, friends to lovers to knowing who your true captain is! This last book was one heck of a wild ride!
This is a beautifully written novel. It gets you hook line and sinker. The way this author brought Harry and Louisa's story was beautifully done. One which shows regret, pain, love and how a gentleman should be!
I absolutely ate this book up, I am absolutely gutted this is the last in the Rosewood series, and what a wonderful novel to end this amazing series is to see where it all started! The other 3 novels are about their children and them falling in love with their captains!
This is one of the best cowboy novels I have read and I honestly can't wait to see what else this author brings us!
