Wattle Creek #3

Tangled Desires

Rate this book
A dislike to love, accidental pregnancy, small town romance, where love and loathing become hopelessly tangled, and their deepest desires refuse to be denied.

When feisty, no-nonsense Imogen Whitley crosses paths with the relentless, golden-retriever-enthusiastic Harrison Price, sparks fly—and not the good kind. Imogen can’t stand his cocky attitude and incessant winking, while Harrison finds her constant eye-rolling and sarcastic remarks oddly endearing.

Caught between mutual irritation and undeniable chemistry, neither is willing to back down. Imogen wants to keep her distance, but Harrison’s determination to win her over becomes a game she can’t ignore.

Everything changes when two pink lines appear, and one little ‘oops’ turns their worlds upside down. With secrets from their pasts coming to light and tension between them reaching a boiling point, will they find a way to untangle their desires, or are they destined to remain locked in a battle of wills?

Tangled Desires is book 3 in the Wattle Creek Series. This book is part of interconnected standalones, and while it can be read separately, it is encouraged to read the series in order.

Well I didn’t expect to cry THAT much😭❤️‍🩹 I knew this book would be the best in the series & boy was I correct🤭 this was so worth the wait! This book was fast-paced, sexy, sweet, charming, but also so emotional & heart touching that I ended up uncontrollably crying A LOT towards the end. I loved the way that mental health & trauma were deeply explored instead of simply being mentioned then glossed over. The found family trope was so cute in this! LOVED it🩵

Imogen is a sweetheart but also headstrong, fierce, sassy, feisty, & has a no-bullshit attitude. I loved how patient she was with Harrison & that she refused to let his demons get In between them. Harrison is goofy, dorky, easygoing, fun, flirtatious & incredibly endearing. Harrison stepped up immediately without question, & was such an amazing father/partner🥹

Immy’s & Harrison’s opposite personalities helped to balance each other out so they ended up working really well together. The bickering, push & pull, the way she hated him but he refused to stop chasing her, the tension, chemistry, realistic relationship development, & the way Harrison did his best to worm his way into Immy’s heart were all wonderful & had me hooked! These two were so hot together, but watching them navigate parenthood together was so wholesome!

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: accidental pregnancy, hate to love, boy obsessed, he falls first & hard, forced proximity, Australian small town romance, opposites attract, mental health/trauma

Thank you to Love Notes PR & Elle for the arc🩵

•5 ⭐️ (infinite if it was a thing) •

I would firstly like to thank Elle for the opportunity to Beta read this book, I would then like to extend my thanks to Elle again and Love Notes PR for giving me an ARC as well!

I have now read this book twice and devoured it in no time! I couldn’t put it down! I was hooked from the get go! Imogen and Harrison are just perfection! Might I just say, I think this is my favourite book of the series. It has all my favourite tropes, fantastic emotions and storyline.

- Duel POV 👩‍❤️‍👨
- Accidental Pregnancy 🤰
- Dislike to Love ❤️
- Small Town Romance 🏡
- Mechanic x Hairdresser 🧑‍🔧 💇‍♀️
- Trauma Healing ❤️‍🩹
- Mental Health Rep 💭
- Down Bad MMC 🤭

The characters were amazing! I just adored Immy and Harrison sooo much, and I think they are now my favourites! I really enjoyed seeing the other characters come back as well, I missed them! I loved watching all of their relationships grow as well as the characters growing as individuals! The banter, the laughs, the wholesomeness of the whole book is just so special.

Harrison, oh loooorrrrrrrd! I was so obsessed with him from when I first met him in the other books! I just love his personality, his goofball energy and his love for those closest to him. He is a protector and I really love that as well. Harrison brings Immy relief and that’s the sweetest thing. He is sooo head over heels for this girl and he cares and loves her fiercely. I could talk alllll day about Harrison. The best dad there is. I also really loved seeing a ADHD rep, it means so much.

Imogen!!! I have loved Immy since the start. She just gives off the best energy for me and I really love her. The way she sticks up for not only herself but those she loves is so magical. She took no nonsense and always fought back. She is just so wholesome, calm, understanding, kind, loving and real! She supports Harrison through everything and I just love her. And we can’t forget how amazing she is throughout the pregnancy, she is just a super women!

Elles writing has always been a favourite of mine, and I’m not surprised at how well structured and written this book is! She can write a spicy scene so well as well as an emotional one. I feel this book was the most emotional is the series as well, and I really connect to the characters!

Congratulations Elle, I’m so damn proud 🫶🏻

I had the honour of BETA reading this and oh my lord I had never been happier receiving that email. I knew these two would be my favourite and yep confirming they are my top and this book was phenomenal!

I had been anticipating Harrison and Imogen’s book since the start and woowwwww these two are fire 🔥 I’m actually obsessed with them and love them so much. The banter between them was so good, was on the floor at times 🤭

The accidental pregnancy trope was executed perfectly and it couldn’t have happened to a better couple. Bless Harrison the MMC and his past 🥺 Broke my heart but i’m so happy he is with Imogen and has a baby who saved him 🥹🥰

I seriously couldn’t fault this book at all and they live rent free in my head. If you love the sound of these tropes then you should definitely consider picking this up.

I was lucky enough to be selected for an ARC and boy was it good to be back in Wattle Creek!

Being set in Australia just makes this series so comforting and I absolutely love seeing Aussie slang thrown in 🥰

Oh my Immy & Harrison were a wicked little treat!

Imogen is a hyper independent, sassy and oh so strong woman and I frothed her keeping Harrison on his toes and making him work for it 😏

Harrison my darling boy, my heart 🥹 he’s the perfect mix of protective x golden retriever and his trauma absolutely broke my heart 💔

Immy & Harrison’s story was so relatable, raw and emotional and Elle captured the delicate topics beautifully. Both main characters came from traumatic pasts but their story was centered around opening up to allow vulnerability to move towards healing together and it was so heart wrenching in the best way seeing these two develop together 🥹

The focus on real life struggles really made this story so authentic, raw and beautifully written. Now bring on book number 4 in the Wattle Creek series!

Ok it's been almost a year since I picked up this series so when I started I thought I would have trouble getting into it but it didn't take long for me to remember both Harrison and Imogen from books 1 and 2. Harrison is c0(ky and annoying but also devilishly handsome and charming in the next breath... so of course Imogen can't stand him. They share mutual friends however and so are thrown together constantly.
After caving into the tensions between them one night a baby is thrown into the mix and now then pair have to muddle through their issues with each other and also traumatic pasts with their parents too. Can they survive it all and come out stronger together???

Thank you so much to Elle Mariah for the honour of reading an ARC of Tangled Desires. I think this was my favourite book of the series so far! I liked that it had a little more depth and explored some deeper topics, while still having the cute small town romance feel. The spice was top notch, the banter was great and I loved what all the other characters we already know and love added to this as well. I’m excited to read Michael’s book next!

“This one’s for those who crave the heat, the mess, and the moments that leave you breathless. Get ready for some dirty, fiery love. You’ve been warned. Harrison Price is about to wreck you—in the best possible way.”

Where to begin!! This book is everything and more! Elle knows how to make you fall so deeply in love with her characters 🥹 This is ♾️ stars for me!! I will never get over Harrison and Imogen’s story, it was such a beautiful love story with raw emotions. I don’t think I’ll ever recover but I have no regrets. I adore everything Elle does! She will forever be an auto-buy author for me!! I will be thinking about this for a very very long time! 🩵

Imogen is my new favourite FMC! She’s fiery, independent and a beautiful woman 🥹 she was so relatable with her emotions and I truly loved the way she cared about her loved ones! She deserves the world and more! Immy had me giggling and wanting to cry, despite everything she’s been through she still looked out for those she cared about most, even if she said they meant to her 👀 understanding Immy’s struggles made me connect with her on a whole different level, I’m truly obsessed with her! I loved reading about her journey to motherhood and how she overcame her battles. Elle writes some of the most beautiful FMC’s and I loved seeing the friendship between the girls! I felt like I was there with them, it felt like a family with them altogether 🩵

Harrison is my new book boyfriend!! This was a man obsessed and I’m so here for it! IM OBSESSED WITH HIM!! His caring nature had me gripped from the start, I loved how he treated those around him. He has such a beautiful heart 🥹 His personal story was so emotional but seeing him come out on the other side had my heart melting. I felt like I truly connected with his character, I feel so in love with him from the very beginning 🥹 I loved seeing his POV and how he felt throughout the pregnancy, it’s such a beautiful story overall but oh myyy this man!! He was so protective over Immy and it was so so so sweet!!!! Harrison truly did wreck me, and I have no complaints. I will love this man forever 🩵

I adored the love between the characters but I truly loved how healing and real this story was. As Elle told us - it showed us how broken pieces can create something so beautiful, and this is why I felt so connected to them, they have me in a chokehold. It highlighted the realities of accidental pregnancies and how to face the challenges it brings. It also shows us how two ‘broken’ can find love. This story represents how to heal from childhood trauma. I didn’t want this book to end and I was hooked from the start, I miss these characters already so much 🥹 It was so fun to see how the characters from the previous books are doing now and how much they all care for one another! The mental health representation is this book is everything!! It highlights awareness to multiple conditions that so many people experience, it makes you feel so seen 🥹 Accidental pregnancy is definitely a top trope for me but Elle smashed it! This is definitely my favourite book with this trope! I will never shut up about it, and I will never shut up about this series! Elle only writes 5 stars for me! Now I need to go cry and reread this book immediately 🥹

Thank you so much Elle for creating such a phenomenal story, it had me feeling all sorts of emotions. You write such incredible characters and I’m so grateful to have arc read this! Thank you Love Notes PR too!! 🩵

★★★★. Thank you to the author and Love Notes PR for this ARC! This review will contain MILD spoilers, so read at your own risk! I want to first give a major thanks to the author for adding her trigger warnings right away and then adding in hotline numbers for all triggers that were listed. That was beautifully done and more authors should do this.

This was such a cute small town, found family, he falls first and harder, one night stand, surprise pregnancy with a bunch of “my girl” moments. This was my first time reading this author and I’m pleasantly surprised with how well it was. She added in the perfect amount of angst, happiness, spice, and with some really sad emotional moments.

Harrison and Imogen were a little complex. Harrison always wanted Imogen and had the biggest crush on her so he wasn’t going to stop trying to get his girl. However, his trauma held him back a lot. I won’t go into it, but I’m so happy he got the help he needed and went to therapy for it! I wish we got more on Imogen’s trauma yet I think we didn’t because she healed earlier and has come to terms with it all.

Harrison was so down bad. This man yearned for his girl every chapter. He was doing everything to make her know he was hers and their babies. He was perfect for her. He had the perfect amount of golden retriever vibes with some black cat energy and the protectiveness and obsessiveness AND possessiveness was AMAZING. He researched everything the minute he found out about the baby and made sure to keep a watchful eye!

Imogen I was in different towards. She bothered me with constant crossing the arms and holding Harrison at an arms length with no true reason. She constantly was snapping at him and usually I’m like “slay girl”, but here I just couldn’t find a reason why? She did have a major turn around which I’m glad for. She fell just as hard for Harrison and I loved it. She truly changed herself and him for the better for their son. Her PPD was written really well yet again there should’ve been more. We should’ve gotten her going to therapy since PPD is so looked down on. I am happy she spoke to Harrison right away about it.

For my safety readers, completely safe. He’s been celibate for an unknown amount of time, but there is a line where he says he doesn’t even remember the last time he was with another woman. Imogen is not a virgin, but been a while for her too.

“But somehow, you snuck in. With that stupid grin and a heart so big, it shouldn’t fit in one person. And now? I can’t picture my life without you. You’re chaos, comfort, and everything in between.”

“Imogen, you’re the first person who has ever made me feel good enough. Ever. You showed me what true, deep love really looks like. Messy, maddening, perfect love. You’re my first, and you’re my last. You’re it for me. You and Joseph, this little family of ours? This is all I’ve ever wanted. All I’ll ever want.”

I adored this book! Harrison and Imogen were absolute 🔥

I love the connections and friendships displayed throughout this book. Especially Isla and Immy. I felt like the book did an awesome job at showing character development from beginning to end.

Imogen is just an absolute gem. I love her wit, smart comebacks, and sincerity. She is wholesome, calm, understanding and accepting. Even in the beginning of the book, when she doesn’t even like Harrison, she is defensive and protective about him. The way she supports Harrison is everything you could want in a partner. She is truly phenomenal. Also her during pregnancy and labor? She’s so strong and awe-spiring. Let’s not forget postpartum- so incredibly raw and real. I felt such a connection and her feelings were so valid.

I absolutely love what a goofball Harrison is. He’s silly, fun, and when that protective side comes out - he’s fierce. He’s so gone for Imogen, it’s the sweetest. The way he defends her shows how much she means to him. He has such a heavy past and he carries that trauma but he steps up and gets the help he deserves. My heart broke for him, but it explains so much of who he is and why he is who he is, it just makes him that much better.

The accidental pregnancy trope is done SO WELL in this book. The grace Immy had was memorizing. I absolutely love how the instant Harrison finds out about the pregnancy, he’s ALL IN, there was no hesitation. Harrison overall is just an absolute love.

All in all - the banter, the laughs, the healing, and just wholesomeness of this book is so powerful.

Ugh where do I even start?!
This book was seriously such a warm hug. I absolutely LOVED Imogen and Harrison.

We met them in both Lassoed Love and Branded Hearts and the tension that was already simmering gave us the perfect introduction to their story.

It’s frenemies to lovers with that littleeee hint of “I don’t deserve her”.

This is by far my favourite book from Elle, she has absolutely outdone herself and I’m screaming for these two! Their character development, the tension 🫦, their love for each other is just unmatched.

“𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙬, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙣𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝙞𝙣. 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙥𝙞𝙙 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙗𝙞𝙜, 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙬? 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨, 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣.”

This was accidental pregnancy but without the secret and the way Harrison just took it upon himself to research all of Imogen’s symptoms, their babies growth, the pain she might be experiencing and why was just EVERYTHING 🥹

HIGHLY recommend this read. Support our lil special Aussie authors 🥺🫶🏼

Before I begin I want to thank the author, Ella Mariah, for giving me this ARC.

When I started reading this, I wasn't so sure if I was going to like it. I usually don't read about pregnancy (not surrogacy) because, in general, I don't enjoy it. However, this convinced me that it can be done in a way that I like. I really liked that there was a mix of fluff, angst, and spice.

I do have to say that I had a few things that bothered me. I don't think they mentioned a few that obviously should be mentioned. One, I really don't they outright said how old the characters are. Two, where does this take place? I though at a certain point that this took place in England because of all the "bloody" and other typical British phrases. Maybe I'm the problem and is it mentioned a couple times but that I just forget it. Third, I didn't know when this took place, as in was it summer? winter? fall? The only reason why I found out is because in the end it's briefly mentioned.

I know that all of this sound pretty harsh but I'm just trying to be honest.

Overall I liked it and I'll definitely read the next book.

Arc review for Tangled Desires by Elle Mariah

It’s taken me days to sit down and try get my thoughts and feelings about this book out and into a review but I honestly don’t think anything I could say would do it justice. This book was absolute perfection! I have become so obsessed with Elle’s writing and being a fellow Aussie makes it 100x better 😍🇦🇺

Tangled Desires is book 3 in the Wattle Creek series and follows the story of Harrison and Imogen. I loved the funny little snippets we got of them in Branded Hearts so I was beyond excited for their book, the dynamic they have is super entertaining! Haha

Going into this I wasn’t expecting to get as emotional as I did, seeing such a different and vulnerable side to both MC’s was an unexpected but beautiful surprise. Especially Harrison wow that man is something else! It was so intense seeing behind his happy front that he puts on for everyone else but once he lets Imogen in and they start to get closer it was extremely heartfelt.

As always with these two there were also a lot of funny moments with Imogen’s take no shit attitude and Harrison’s goofiness and outright flirting. They had insane chemistry and eventually just brought out the best in each other. After so much push and pull it was amazing seeing them start their own little family and be the best versions of themselves for their little one. Harrison and Imogen will live in my mind rent free forever these two are my favourite and their story was absolutely phenomenal.

I highly recommend this book and anything by Elle writes. Be sure to check trigger warnings as there are some heavier topics within the story but were written extremely well with a lot of care.

I love a good dislike to lovers romance and then throw in an accidental pregnancy 👌🏼 I absolutely devoured Harrison and Imogen's story.

Their flirty banter was top tier 🔥 so many real world problems were faced in this book and written so well. These two went on a journey both together and individually. We get so many sweet moments as well as the emotional ones too 🥺

Sweet, sexy, emotional, and heartwarming book.

Imogen is a strong and fierce independent sweetheart. She was very patient while Harrison battled with some issues. Harrison is an easygoing, fun, and flirty mechanic. He gave great support to Imogen. Fabulous father and boyfriend.

These two are definitely opposites attract. The banter, the tension of the push and pull, such an amazing story. Realistic relationship representation. I loved it.

**ARC Review**

Can we just take a quick moment to appreciate how good a dislike to lovers book is? And Elle, you did it oh so well 👌 I always knew from Harrison & Imogen's first interaction that they were going to be a fun couple to follow. And this book certainly delievered. We were given the tension and banter but then also given the sweet, emotional parts too. We were also given so many real world struggles with this book making it that more relateable.
Overall, this was a 4 ⭐️ read for me.

"This book isn't just about love; it's about survival, healing, and finding light in the darkest of places. It's about understanding that even the most broken places can create something beautiful."

The tension in this book is strong right from the get go and it certainly does not take long for it to snap. And wow does it happen in a hot way. But my favourite part was definitely the banter going on right after. Harrison was being his typical smooth talking, cocky, tease and Imogen just clapped back in the best way possible. Honestly their banter is always fun to read. But getting to see the softer side to them was an even bigger highlight. They always knew what the other needed and were always there for each other no matter what they were going through. They just made the perfect team and family.

Harrison is a hot, confident, filthy mouthed mechanic that loves to rub Imogen the wrong way. All the while being completely obsessed with her. I mean, come on, the man was obsessed the minute he saw her. I loved that he would do absolutely anything for her and he wanted to make himself better for her and their family. I loved his growth in this book and the way that he was able to so openly discuss his past and traumas with Imogen. Which in the end caused him to open up with everyone in his life and start healing.

Imogen is a fiery, sassy, strong hairdresser that loathes Harrison. And yet she still appreciates him in all his hotness and kind heartedness. She was always un-apologetically herself and used her past hurt as way to fuel her into not making the same mistakes with her family. She was also such a caring and attentive partner to Harrison and was the support he needed to get through his own journey. And then for her to get that same love and care back from him towards the end, just showed why they were so good for each other.

I also love the bit of found family we get in these books through the friend group. They love and support each other so much.

But more than anything, I am so excited for the next book after all the exciting things that were announced at the end of this book. I see we get Michael's book next - I am so intrigued to see who his love interest will be!

Thank you to Elle & the team for sending me an ARC copy of this book! I hope everyone else enjoys it too 😊😊

3.5 ⭐️ my tagged shelves can be spoilers

Small town romance w/ accidental pregnancy, banter, opposites attract, a sassy fmc, and a down bad mmc with troubled past. This is book #3 in the series but as someone who hasn't read the first two, I think the author is right on saying it can be read as a standalone. It feels a little like you're dropped into a movie that actually started 30 minutes ago but it wasn't hard to get a feel for who everyone is and how they're connected pretty quickly.

I liked both Imogene (fmc) and Harrison (mmc) a lot and the banter between them was great. I especially enjoyed their dynamic of him falling hard & fast while she stayed a bit cautious -- it made the inevitable "I love yous" that much sweeter to me. Additionally, mental health rep in romances is always a plus for me!!

For me personally though, I would have liked parts to go a bit deeper or fleshed out more. It felt like a lot of things got surface level attention or were discussed off page and that made me feel less connected than I was hoping. That's the reason for my 3 stars. I think it’ll be loved by fans of the first two books!

Thank you to both the author and LoveNotes PR for the e-ARC. Review is my own, honest opinion.

She’s done it again. This is now my favourite book in the series and I just adore this couple and their story. Which will come as no surprise because it’s two of my favourite things… accidental pregnancy and dislike to lovers.

Every time I open one of Elle’s books it feels like coming home, the Aussie slang and banter is such a highlight for me. I will say, I didn’t expect to get so emotional, but my eyes leaked multiple times at how deep, raw and heartwarming this story was.

I love the way Elle wrote the mental health aspect with these characters and the focus on their healing journeys. They are both complex characters and she didn’t shy away from what can be extremely difficult topics, giving us a very raw, relatable experience.

Harrison is a loveable golden retriever of a man full of grins and flirty banter but behind those grins he’s battling with childhood demons. His journey and the way he stepped up and did the work for himself, for Imogen and for their baby was everything.

⊹ i loved imogen and her take no shit attitude.
⊹ the verbal sparring between them is perfection.

arc review + aesthetic: tangled desires by @ellemariahauthor 🩵

“I wanna spend all of my days with you.”

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

One of the most real and beautifully raw stories I have read in the longest time, and loved every moment with our girl Imogen and Harrison! I’ve loved seeing the progression throughout the series and have been waiting for this! I couldn’t be more eternally grateful to the gorgeous @ellemariahauthor for letting me ARC read this and be on her ARC team!

I loved (and cried) for all the experiences these two had to endure to get to where they are now, and seeing that blossom out between their love and the unexpected timing of life. I laughed, I giggled, I cried and smiled so big all during this! My absolute favourite of the series! 🫶🏻

What to expect:
🇦🇺 Aussie setting (I absolutely love this!)
💇🏼‍♀️ Hairdresser FMC
🛞 Mechanic MMC
🧠 Mental Health illness Rep
☀️ Grumpy x Sunshine / Dislike to Love
🤰Accidental Pregnancy / One Night Stand
🏡 Small town
❤️‍🩹 Trauma Healing

This comes out tomorrow, February 22nd! 🥰

This book is incredible! I was not expecting such a heartfelt, lovely, deep story when I read the title/saw the cover.

Tangled Desires is about a man who has a mega crush on a woman who truly cannot stand him...at first. But one night turns everything upside down, and they find themselves on an interesting, intense, emotional ride! Will these two come together and work together, or will this break them?

This book is emotional, raw, real, gut wrenching, spicy, but DOES have a happy ending! This is a story of resilience, love, chaos, trauma, and found, chosen family. I absolutely adored it!

If you like:
✌🏻Dual POV
🤏🏻Small town
🌦Grumpy/sunshine
🫣Accidental pregnancy
💀Touch her and die
❤️Trauma healing
🥵Spicy🌶
🥰HEA

Then you will love this read!

I highly recommend this book! I actively sought out and bought the other books in this world she created, I loved the writing and story that much! Absolutely worth the read!

This book was EASILY a 5 star read, Infinite stars really! I just don't have the English for how badly I adored this, the characters, the playlist! (being a huge Eminem fan) If you pick this up and I mean you SHOULD you will not regret it. This book has it all banter, love, hate, great friendships, a starved man looking for one woman who he wants so desperately.
Harrison is the most beautiful loyal caring adoring book boyfriend you could ever wish for. Tattooed mechanic (good with his hands hehe) he is soooooo into Imogen right from the start, when all she does is spit venom towards him. It's a true enemies to lovers if I've ever seen it. He's insanely jealous over Immy when he thinks she's going to meet up with some one? he ends up in the exact same bar.
Harrison is "all rough edges, zero filter, and muscles that should come with a warning label." Which girls let's be real is all our type on paper hehe.
Imogen isn't like most women which we KNOW Harrison appreciates.
Harrison and his dirty fiery mouth gets me going every time, "Don't pretend you don't love it. Admit it - you like the way I get under your skin." The way I talk it turns you on, doesn't it.
Harrisons relationship with his family is very strained and he does his best to avoid his mum at all costs. Imogen lost her mother but has a great relationship with her father.
immy and Harrison have mutual friends which means they're always forced to be in the same proximity. Their friends are used to Imogen and Harrison killing each other.
I have a secret love of Australian lingo and banter so this novel was chefs kiss for me.
H & I have a very quick raw fumble and to their utter shock, Immy falls pregnant, which is another favourite trope of mine!
Mental health is represented really well in this book which I know so many people appreciate, it's hard seeing Harrison struggle with his own brain and Immy post-partum. (I really relate) The nickname Mumma he gives Imogen turns me into absolute mush and I'm so jealous it's not me! They are so very passionate, raw and unfiltered, this book has changed me and I will forever read this as a comfort read.
Imogen, Harrison and Elle you forever have my whole heart. X
Favourite quotes - "Keep your f***ing eyes off her, or I'll put you in the ground."
"You say we're broken? Fine. Then I'm broken too. So, what do we do? We fix each other."
"Hey, did you hear that earlier, kid? Your mum loves me. Me. Just an ol' dirtbag from Wattle Creek. "You two are it for me."
"I stare down at my son, this tiny little boy who's got a whole different life ahead of him- one nothing like mine."
"I didn't plan for you, Harrison. Didn't want to. You were loud, annoying, and always in my space. You drove me crazy. But somehow, you snuck in. With that stupid grin and a heart so big, it shouldn't fit in one person."

ARC Review

“How the fuck is someone supposed to grow up when they’re too busy surviving?”

This book was wildly healing for me as a survivor of family violence.

Harrison is our tattooed and emotionally scarred warrior and protector, watching the story of his youth unfold and the steps he was taking to be a cycle breaker for Imogen and their baby, really hit home.
Imogen is a strong, independent girl who takes no shit from anyone. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it, like Harrison she also has a guarded and traumatic past. Together they can rebuild a better life for their family.

I saw so much of myself in Harrison and Imogen and found the entire book relatable. The Australian setting and the use of words like “Pub” and “Missus” made me feel like I was reading about friends, which is a refreshing change after reading 90% American authors. This book was homely and at times walked the edge of “too relatable”, the ending gave it that edge of unrealistic that we need from a fiction read.

I loved this read, I highly recommend taking on the journey to discover the love story of Imogen, Harrison and Baby J.

Thank you Elle for the opportunity to ARC read your third book in the Wattle Creek Series!

Imogen and Harrison have a love/hate relationship. Imogen hates Harrison and Harrison loves to wind Imogen up. But as much as Imogen denies it, the sexual tension between them is undeniable. One night it snaps and soon there are two pink lines. Imogen is determined she can do it alone but Harrison is determined to step up and be a dad- and hopefully win over the woman he’s falling in love in with. But both of them have things in their pasts they need to deal with, Harrison more so than Imogen. When the past comes back to haunt them, will they make it out together?

Oh I think this is my favourite in the series so far! I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers and unexpected pregnancy and this is such a good one!! I don’t usually like golden retrievers but I’m a little bit in love with Harrison. He’s just the perfect guy. Loyal, funny, hot, a little bit broken. Seeing Imogen slowly fall in love with him and seeing him take steps to heal himself just made it such a perfect story. And the heat between them was off the charts!!

This is an ARC review and all opinions are my own. Thank you to Love Notes PR for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it

A really well written raw and emotional love story of Harrison and Imogen and how their childhood parental experiences have shaped them as people and how they navigate their relationship.

I hadn't read the two previous books before reading this, so it could definitely be read as a standalone, however it was so good I will be going back to read the other books in Wattle Creek.

Harrison comes across initially as a cocky, arrogant man with a lot of anger, however through the story we meet a pure golden retriever boyfriend goals.

All the characters that you meet throughout this book are so well intertwined you really get a feel of all their relationships.

I LOVED THIS ONE!!!!!

Harrison was DOWN BAD for Midge! I loved him, I loved her, I loved them! NO NOTES.

Harrison the absolutely broken man that you are made hurt for the little boy inside him and for the grown man that never dealt with his trauma. The way he opened up to Imogen was beautiful and honest. She was his safe space without even knowing and watching him struggle through his emotions was painful but it made me love him so much more! ❤️‍🩹

Imogen, let me start off by saying I LOVED HER, she was this spitfire of a woman but underneath it all she was this sweet venerable woman carrying a lot of her little girl hurts. The way she so was so sure that she would never fall for Harrison was hilarious, she didn’t even realize that man was breaking his way through her walls brick by brick. She was so strong and I wish we got to see her deal with her PPD more but the fact that we didn’t, didn’t take away from her story at all! I love how once she found out how much she was a safe space to Harrison, she made sure that she was ALWAYS there for him, making him feel worth it & deserving, LOVED. ❤️‍🩹

I loved that their love confession wasn’t this big gesture it was just a moment between the two of them, but it was a beautiful moment that they both deserved. 🥹🥰😭

Overall, it was a beautiful book that will most definitely be a reread! 🥹

Harrison, the man that you are! I am thoroughly obsessed. Literal definition of ‘if he wanted to, he would’. And Imogen, you little sassy spitfire I want to be your best friend.

I fell in love with Harrison and Imogen from the first page. I loved everything about their friendship and relationship and how it developed from playful, sarcastic banter to literal obsession with each other and overwhelming protectiveness of each other.

This book had me going through the emotional wringer and I loved every moment. I laughed. I blushed. I was holding my breath. I sobbed. Every emotion was felt on such a deep level because the writing took me there.

The trauma and mental health rep was done brilliantly and as someone that can relate so much to what Imogen goes through, I managed to find some peace and it was so nice to read about it in a book and feel less alone.

I will recommend this book and this whole series by Elle forever. Absolutely incredible.

Tropes:
• accidental pregnancy
• dislike to love
• trauma / mental health
• grumpy x sunshine
• small town romance
• he falls first & harder

This book was actually fast-paced, charming and HEARTBREAKINGLY SWEET!! Im a sucker for a funny/flirty MMC who knows what he wants and is NOT scared to go for it. I loved Imogen because shes so fierce, sarcastic and apologetically herself. I loved all the side characters/Found family trope because they were so relatable & funny.

The way this author explored the family trauma and mental health struggle the characters went through was amazing and had me in tears a few times throughout the book.

The only thing i truly struggled with was with the Aussie slang which threw me for loop for a second but its nothing a little googleing couldnt fix :D

Thank you Love Notes PR & Author Elle Mariah for this amazing opportunity.

4.5/5

What a heartfelt and emotional story. Be ready to devour this read. Both main characters are so likeable. Imogen is sassy, headstrong, and doesn’t take any shit. Whereas Harrison is easy going with a kind of goofy personality but also one as a protector. They are completely opposite from one another. The emotions they both take the reader on from the banter, the bickering, the back and forth, the laughs, the tension and the tears! Definitely get the tissues!

The writing of the author in this book was beautifully done. I felt so connected to the characters. I enjoyed watching their character development and growth throughout their story. Harrison’s just tugged at my heart.

If you enjoy reading about accidental pregnancy, opposites attract, dislike to love, trauma healing, small town feel, and mental health rep then this book is a MUST read!

First I wanna say thank you to Love Notes PR and author Elle Mariah for letting me read book 3 of the wattle creek series. I first got the chance to read this series with book two and immediately fell in love with all the characters. When I found out book three were about Harrison and Imogen I screamed cause them two characters are the ones I wanted to read about the most.

You follow these two characters who both have parental trauma. And two people who love to fight each other. Harrison gives you ADHD representation which I throughly enjoyed having my fiancée having the same thing, seeing the struggles look very similar. Elle did good at representing that.

The chemistry is insane throughout this book and I just kept eating every page up sad it ended but now I just can’t wait for book 4!
