Britain, five minutes into the future. War comes to Tottenham as the Syrian conflict washes back onto our shores, and anarchists of every description bring heavy weaponry onto the streets, arming the local gangs.
But they haven't met Riz and the Blackeyes.
A terror is about to be unleashed on the gangs that they will have never imagined and they are completely unprepared for. A terror from our own side...
As the crisis escalates and violence and atrocity devastate North London, Sergeant Farzana Shaheen and her covert army unit will be tested to breaking point. But can they end the conflict without becoming war criminals themselves?

BATTLE COME DOWN is a searing portrayal of future war, from the high-tech networked command centres to the cockpit of an attack helicopter, and right down to the soldier on the ground.

This is the most destructive book yet of the 4. Riz and the Black Eyes pull out some super heavy machinery which they unleash on a ruthless gang that has taken over a dreary social housing estate - the sort of place police avoid, and where firemen get attacked when they go to put out a fire.

Not only are they pulling out all the armored stops, they have to use devious tactics and strategy to get the better of the wily opposition who are, themselves, heavily armored. Bang Bang gets to sneak into their computer systems with her foxy avatar to wreak havoc, and RFID tags are also used to great effect. Boom!

In this story, I was amazed to see the army cadets brought in to provide backup and support, and they enjoyed themselves thoroughly!

The action moves from East London to Central London, explosions at key locations and the threat of more, much more...

The anarchists at the heart of the trouble are treated with short sharp shrift when found by Riz and the Black Eyes. Expect some stomach-churning revenge and gory details.

This fourth novel is definitely up to the standard of the first three, and I really enjoyed the way the relationship between Riz and Holly develops.

I have read Charlie Flower's books since Blood Honeymoon. He has since gotten signed with a publisher and is currently cranking out some pretty serious books. I think Battle Come Down is probably the best of the RIZ series. WARNING: It's not for the faint of heart. Charlie Flowers is pretty specific, not to mention graphic, in his details. This could easily be picked up and be used as a HOW TO BOOK in the wrong hands. Battle Come Down would be completely horrific if not for the cast of RIZ characters running around. If you are currently not suffering from PTSD, you might be after reading this book. For this military action / dystopia genre, it's really well done.

Charlie Flowers does it again. Riz and Bang-Bang are back, and it's a good to have them. What's great about Flowers' writing is that he can take highly technical ideas and terms and turn them into fast-paced, edge of your seat sentences. The book never slows down and the action is hard and heavy. Great stuff!

"High-octane mayhem that doesn't disappoint"

Riz and Bang Bang in non-stop action yet again with no pause button anywhere in sight to allow you to take a breather, This is a hard-hitting in your face story of modern Britain. "It couldn't happen here" (Enraged - Knightsbridge) "You better believe it" (smouldering - Southall) This is what makes this story remarkable. Anarchy Rules UK and the violence on the streets of London is extreme. What Charlie Flowers does with spine-chilling accuracy is transpose everyday life in Iraq or Syria into the not so leafy suburbs of the capital city. This could well be 'All Your Tomorrows' and it could go to extra-time and penalties, so stay tuned to this channel, Deadline Day has six hours and forty minutes left. As thrillers go, this one motors at high speed.Hold on tight for the ride of your life.

Once again, I really enjoyed this outing with Rizwan and Holly. The machinery and the violence are over the top, but the characters still really engage me and I enjoy the reading.
