Exposed as a fraud, an A-list celebrity must prove that his reputation isn’t built on lies, but it’s difficult when his biggest accuser is his own daughter.
With an Oscar showcased on his shelf, and the nickname Papa Bear for his work with at-risk youth, Chad Gibbon’s life resembles a popcorn movie. But something is missing.
His nickname reminds him of the one thing he can’t be—a father. Until a show-stopper of a TikTok exploded. The girl in the video claims to be his daughter, threatening his hard-earned moniker.
Dimmi Van Der Merwe disappeared from the limelight seventeen years ago after an unexpected pregnancy forced her to give up a life-changing role.
Heartbroken, without her career or boyfriend, Chad Gibbon, she returned home to South Africa.
She leads an unglamorous life as a mother to teenage twins, burying their father and the truth of her past. Until the same TikTok blows up her suburban life.
Thrown into tabloid hell, Dimmi and Chad struggle to navigate the fallout of the video.
Will Dimmi be able to handle the limelight she escaped from years ago and save her daughters from the destruction of her lies? Will Chad save his career and redeem his reputation?
The second book in the A-List series. Can be read as a standalone.
This started out very compelling and hooked my attention immediately. I really liked how the author weaved magic with words and had me so emotionally invested in these characters and their struggles. I enjoyed reading part 1 and think it was a good pre-read before the extended story that is part 2. It paints a different picture of Chad and Dimmi than what starts part 2, and I think readers need that to be completely invested in their story. Part 2 started off with some hot topics, but I think it was well-written and fit the place that these young characters were in during that exciting, whirlwind part of their lives. I did have some suspicions as things developed about why Chad might have abandoned his twins, and I was eager while reading to see if I was correct and how that would effect where the story went. I really liked how the pieces fell into place with him learning about Dimmi and how the girls really were his. The plot twist was completely unexpected, but it fit and made for a beautiful ending. Overall, this was a very entertaining read that held my heart and my attention.
O wow… I am actually without words. Stunned. This book is so good. Page after page filled with drama & tension, love & pain, twists & turns.
The characters felt so real and relatable. They weren’t simply "good" or "bad" but have a mix of strengths, weaknesses, desires, fears, and flaws. The story is well written, you won’t be able to put this book down. I finished it one day. The plot will not be what you expect! This was done so well. I loved it!
