Rate this book
Bael was born into chaos, a prince running from a Caribbean empire thats drenched in blood and betrayal. Calculating, dangerous, but fiercely loyal, Bael has spent years trying to escape his father’s shadow and the violence that shaped him.

Egypt is tough, witty, and unapologetically herself, refusing to bend even when the world seems hell-bent on breaking her.

Drawn together, Bael and Egypt navigate a turbulent connection that’s equal parts toxic and addictive. As their lives intertwine, Bael’s past threatens to pull them under.

In a story steeped in danger, loyalty, and love on the edge, Bael and Egypt’s journey proves that sometimes, survival means facing the darkest parts of yourself—and finding someone willing to walk through the shadows with you.

Damn Shantel! You said this one was dark, and different. Well, not one lie was told. I know how you get down, so I dived in. Whew.... 🤯

Egypt's upbringing was rough. However, she had her brother Terry, and good friend Eddie to lean on, until it was only, she and Eddie. 💔 But the two of them leaned on each other making things work, until the party. When Eddie forced Egypt to attend a party that his boss was throwing, she was less than thrilled to attend, but she did. While there she is approached by this intimidating man, who frightens her a bit, but also makes her a lil moist. 😂 He gives her an unusual proposition that she should turn down, but she doesn't. Let the wild times begin.

Bael grew up with a father who thrived on control, money, violence, vengeance, power, and having others fear him. He believed he was a God, and anyone who crossed him would pay the ultimate price. His son was no exception. Bael was groomed to follow in his father's footsteps, although that is not the life he wanted, as he hated his father! But he had to do what was necessary to stay alive, so following his father's wishes he did. Until he met her.

When Bael met Egypt, I knew this would be a coupling for the ages. Bael was used to people doing what he said with no questions asked, as they feared his wrath. Well, Egypt could give a damn about him being mad! Don't tell me what to do, ask me. Don't yell at me like I'm your damn child, I'm not. She was giving him the business at every turn. As much as he didn't like it, he tolerated it to a degree because he liked her. Egypt thought this man is rude, controlling, possessive, mean, uncaring, and has difficulty interacting with people. Why am I so drawn to him? Am I as crazy as he is? Yeah, sis you are! 😂 Although Bael barged his way into her life with his ultimatums, she allowed it, because she liked him too. 👀

These two went through it, as pieces of Bael's past and present tried to rip them apart and cause them harm. But Bael was not going to let any of that happen. Egypt is the only person that has allowed him to feel, and he will not let her go for nothing! Egypt had a multitude of reasons to run from Bael, but she loved him and his crazy. So, let's ride this out together boo. 🤷🏿‍♀️ Lazaras was pure evil, and at times I really thought that he would do harm to them both, but Bael always had the upper hand.

DeMarcus and Nova making an appearance was a pleasant surprise, and I see that they are still up to their same shenanigans. Virginia's popup to help Bael out in his time of need was surprising, but necessary. Her back story.... 🤯 Thank you Shantel for giving me another set of "really" broken characters to love and enjoy. 👍🏾👍🏾

she don’t miss

I’m mad I devoured this book in one night. I know I have to wait for Shantel to drop something new so that’s why it took me so long to start this book. Now I have to find other books to fill the void and in the past it wasn’t happy bout it🤣

Hood Prince and His Cinderella

This was my first read by Shantel Davis, and I was drawn in immediately. The familiar banter between the characters captivated me from the start. As the plot unfolded, I found myself rooting for even the most questionable characters—a testament to Davis’s skill in creating complexity and depth. However, by the end, I felt like a chunk of information was missing, leaving me with unanswered questions. Hopefully, we’ll see more of Bael in the future!

Bael. My man, my man, my man. 🫣 this why I sit on that lady couch now. I’m so happy Larazus is gone. Between Virginia and Larazus I do see why Bael is the way he is. I’m happy to see Egypt got a back bone towards the end. I think Bael was rubbing off on her. I just knew Bael was gonna get that baby.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This was my first read by this author and the story was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Fast-paced but still detailed enough for you to get a full picture of the characters and the plot. The spice...10\10. Definitely read this book. I think gray romance is becoming my new favorite troupe.

Bael & Egypt - I went into this read blind. This was a wild story, page turner, I really couldn’t wait to see how it all unfolded. The unexpected twists, the secrets and words unspoken … whew I wasn’t ready.

This story was different to me. To understand the ruthlessness of the characters as well as the twists and turns made a very good read.
