I’m a breed all of my own. A dark twist of sin women dream to be dominated by. I’ll fuck you so good you’ll be begging me for more. If you leave a lasting impression, I might see you again. But I doubt it. ~ That piece of work was me. The one who was so sure of himself. The one women knelt before, desperate to have a taste of the pleasure I could bring them. Back then I thought I had it all figured out, that my life couldn’t get any more perfect. Rich. Well known. Good looking.

But something doused the flames of the cocky asshole I had become, something I thought would never happen. Baby Fever. Yeah…that. Whoever said men didn’t get that shit was a damn liar. The infection had spread through my body, right into my blood, overshadowing what I’d spent my entire adult life enjoying. Now I’m in search of one thing. One person who can turn my world upside down and give me what I crave, while letting me stay true to who I am. So…

Dear Ladies,

I’m the man of your dreams and I can prove it. All shapes and sizes are welcome. I’m ready to settle down and start a family. Must be open to a long term relationship. The true kind. One that will last forever (contract required and only voided by me). I’ll show you how a woman is really supposed to be treated. Submissive preferred, but not required. Will train. It’s time to Dom up.

Sincerely, Devlin Black

I stopped reading 'Dom Up' before the end; I found out that in the 2nd book the hero does something I would never forgive him for. Probably the 2nd worse scene in my shelf of books that contain my 'hard limits'.

This book had some really good lines, some lines that didn't make any sense at all and concentrated A LOT on how many women the hero has been with.

So ... I read the blurb for this book and I was so excited to read it!
I mean a Dom, a second chance romance, Baby Fever and THAT AD!
What's not to like? . Right???
I'll tell you what .. or more specifically WHO ?

Victoria

That's right .. the so called "heroine" ... Ughhh ... Where do I even start!!?!!

Whenever she opened her mouth I always felt like:

Don't even get me started on her inner dialogues!! every time I saw her name heading the chapter ..

Honestly, reading her thought's was pure torture! she's all over the place and she ran hot and cold .. hot and cold ... hot and cold ...that by the end of this book I was as confused as she is!!

aaaaaaaaand she spent the whole book playing the "victim" ... let's review some facts shall we??

She was just AWFUL! I HATED HER GUTS!!! ... Just in case you couldn't tell

Now, moving on to the Hero, he wasn't perfect and perhaps if the h wasn't so annoying , I would be more annoyed with him for his behavior .. but in light of the story and how he changed and the God-awful h ... he was great!
The thing I would most criticize about his character is that Dom thing seemed to be more of a bedroom kinky play that his actual personality ... I wish I could explain it better .. I guess I'd say that he switched it ON and OFF as he liked ... and when he's not in Dom mode he's pretty meek ...

I wish he'd had a stronger present and personality in everyday conversations with the h and others as he seemed more Alpha in the bedroom.

OK, so I didn't really like this book BUT I'm going to continue with this series due to the cliffhanger and the fact that I HATE leaving things unfinished!, my eternal hope that the H would take a strong stance against the h for what she's done to him, and the books being so short.

So off to read the next one and as for the h ...

Great story

I loved this book.
I have read books about Dom/sub relationships but some don't get it right.
This author achieved it.
I loved the way the main character Devlin is a bachelor but spending one night with Victoria and he feels his life is missing something.
He gives up booze and women in search of his wife/mother of his children/sub.
He finds Victoria but can Devlin get past the lie/secret she kept from him?
I finished reading it and night the second book, because you are literally on your seat wanting to know how it ended.
Great book, great characters, and great storyline.

Review for Dom Up (Devlin Black Book One) by Alaska Angelini

When I saw the synopsis for this book I thought it looked interesting, sort of a new spin on the whole BDSM scene. Where as normally we see the woman seeking some sort of relationship we find the man ready to settle down and have a family. Part of me was skeptical at first, but dang the author did an amazing job with this one. A little heads up, since it’s a series — this one is a cliffhanger and not just a little one. It’s such a big one that I messaged the author immediately after finishing begging for more. (Yeah, I’m that desperate. I admit I have a problem, I stalk authors.)

We meet both Victoria and Devlin when they are each on blind dates, a bit of confusion and mistaken identity has the pair meeting instead of the people they were suppose to meet. They hit it off and even though Victoria isn’t a submissive, she goes home with Devlin and experiences the most overwhelming sexual encounter of her life — one that will forever change everything.

It’s been two long years since Devlin has seen Victoria, after a night of pleasure, one safe word and everything went to hell for him. She ran and never looked back. He’s decided it’s time to start fresh and has a personal ad placed to find the perfect wife and sub … when he runs into Victoria again he can’t walk away from her and begs for her to give him a chance to prove himself.
Can Victoria overcome the past and find a future with Devlin? Will Devlin continue on the path to change? Or could a secret destroy them both?

I absolutely loved this book, Devlin Black is the epitome of everything that makes up a dominant. He is bossy, demanding, sexy, and bull-headed; no is not in his vocabulary — especially when someone is trying to use that word on him. Victoria is a natural submissive and thrived under Devlin’s domination, but she’d closed herself off to relationships and even with their connection she was scared to trust that Devlin was more than what she had seen.

The characters have a natural chemistry and the author did an amazing job making the reader really feel the push and pull between them. The secondary characters are also quite memorable and add to the story without overshadowing the main characters. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like about this story and I am impatiently waiting for book two!

Dom Up gets FIVE stars for an imaginative spin on the BDSM genre, it’s a serious pleasure to find authors seeking something better than the status quo. The smut… well Devlin wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than FIVE drenched panties and I already told you how he doesn’t like to take no for an answer. If you are looking for a quick hot read with a lot of heart this series is for you. Certified Mommy’s a Book Whore must read.

I read Dom Up because it sounded like a very interesting take on a Dom/Alpha Male. The synopsis of the book hooked me in, and I was glad to find that this book was as intriguing as it sounded.

Devlin Black is a deliciously dark Dom who is hit with a case of baby fever. He's had a pretty rough ride up until this point, but he's ready to find the one and have a family. I have to say that I loved reading his character. He was dark, talked dirty, and was extremely crass. But he also had a heart longing for something more, and that just shined through.

Through Dom Up, you come to find that Devlin can't get his mind off of a certain someone he met almost 2 years before. She's stuck in his mind. That certain someone is Victoria, and she is a gem of a character. This book is told in both character's perspectives and it was fantastic to get to see both sides of their stories. These perspectives also just explained so much about both of their thoughts and actions.

Victoria had a night to remember with Devlin that truly left a lasting impression. Through Dom Up you slowly find out more about her and Devlin and how they came together and ultimately split paths. Reading how their two paths come together again made for a seriously engaging story that I couldn't stop reading. Both of these characters have their trepidations about the other, and this story takes some crazy twists and turns you don't see coming.

It also ends in one helluva cliffhanger that will leave you dying for the next book. The feelings and emotions between Victoria and Devlin spark off the page, and this book will take you on one fantastic ride while you figure out what in the world is going on between them.

This book just hit it out of the park for me, and I loved every word of it!!

I just finished Dom Up and I just loved it. It's your typical BDSM but with a twist. Devlin and Victoria meet on a blind date. Let's just say there was a mix up that neither one wanted to change. It's turns into something more for the both of them but reasons keep them apart. They find each other a couple years later. They are still hot for one another but she is trying to deny each other the pleasure that they can make together but she has secrets that would tear them apart. You will just have to read and see.

This was a quick hot story and I want more!! It ends in a cliffie but that's ok. I'm so there when the next one comes out. This story has so much going for it. Love the characters. Love the setting. Love the plot. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Devlin. So sexy. Broody, dominating playboy. Love how he is trying to get his act together. He had spiraled out of control and is just trying to make a better life for himself. He wants a family, a submissive wife that won't hurt him. I don't blame the guy. Victoria is a good sweet girl. I can understand why she does the things she does. I think that it's gonna turn out just fine. We are definitely going to see more things happen between them. Damn I can already see the sparks flying! Their chemistry was hot and man I just can't wait for more.

I loved the secondary characters too. Branson, Jill, Lorraine, and her mom. They had their story but it blended really well.

I super stoked!! I want more!!

This story captured my attention from page one! The relationship between Devlin and Victoria was super hot and very emotional! I loved this very well written story of a man who finally decides to change and the woman who is afraid to trust him. I am anxiously awaiting more in this wonderful series! I do have to say that this book is a little different from the other books of Alaska Angelini that I have read but still enjoyed it all the same. This does end in a cliffhanger but is totally worth reading and waiting for more!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

I am torn as I review this book because I am in between stars. "I didn't like it" or "it was okay" is what I'm currently feeling and I'll explain why I am giving this 2.5 stars:

- This book was too short and way too rushed. The prologue shows us Victoria and Devlin together but from that it jumps into chapter 1 (YEARS later) except we are NOT told it is years later and as a reader I was confused.
- Secondly, Victoria frustrated me. She sleeps with a man, gets pregnant by him, hides it from him but still feels something for him? We are told she's scared of the person he used to be and doesn't believe he has changed but ummm.. This was a one night stand, why is she judging him when SHE too slept around? She should've given him a chance.
- Third: Devlin is a little over the top in his controlling and the whole wanting to settle down and putting an ad on the paper just pissed me off. You can't just go from A to Z in one chapter.

I feel like the book needed a couple more chapters on character development. As a reader I wanted to understand what drove Victoria to act so stupidly, what made Devlin want to change. I wanted learn more about what HE does for a living since he's a millionaire and I wanted to know what Victoria felt as a single mom. There are just way too many questions left unanswered and for that reason I couldn't enjoy the book. It was an okay read. I am hoping book two answers all my questions because I am interested in seeing what happens especially after that cliffhanger!

Dom Up is a great start to Alaska's new series. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for book 2. This is not your normal BDSM type book. This one is where the man is actually wanting to settle down and start a family. I loved how she took a different path with Dom Up and it just makes it more original. This is why I love reading Alaska's work and can't wait for her books to come out.

It starts off with you meeting Devlin and Victoria 2 years prior to what the book is actually about and how they first met each other by accident. It was a chance meeting and sparks fly. This meeting leads to a night that both will never forget.Once it is over though, Victoria runs and Devlin gets lost in booze and women because he is just so depressed over her leaving and never hearing from her again. Now, 2 years later, Devlin is trying to come out of the bad slump and get his life back together and settle down by meeting someone to start a family with. Then he runs into Victoria, literally lol. We get to find out how there was misunderstandings in the weeks that followed their hot, steamy night together on Victoria's end but we also get to see how Devlin made a complete douche bag out of himself when he thought Victoria didn't call him. She did see him around but in those instances, he really hurt her with his actions. Once all this is out in the open, Devlin does not want to take no for answer and wants her to let him show her he has changed. But Victoria isn't so sure and now her decisions are more important than they have ever been. Can she forget about the past and give herself up to this man and trust him not to hurt her anymore than she already has been??

Great characters and storyline to start off a series and make me want more of Devlin like right now!

AHHH!!! Major cliffhanger!! But totally worth it! Book 1 in this series introduces us to Devlin Black, a self-described cocky, asshole, Dom who will only give you one night where he owns you, unless you make an impression. Which is what Victoria does by accidentally going on a date that was intended for someone else. Devlin and Victoria hit it off instantly and she is the perfect sub.

“Once I got done with you, Victoria, you’d never be the same. I’d hurt you in the most delicious fucking ways imaginable. You’d be begging me for more. And I’d give it to you. As many times as you’d like.”

But one night is all that happens and Dev spends the next few months searching for Victoria with no luck. Two years pass and neither Dev nor Victoria have moved on from their night together. Dev spent the two years drunk and sleeping with any woman who crossed his path while Victoria worked and refused to date let alone trust another man. Over the years Victoria sees Dev, but never speaks to him until he accidentally runs her over. The connection is still there, but Victoria refuses to let Devlin in.

“Although I’d fucking Dom the shit out of you like before. I do want to.”

Devlin ends up with baby fever and sets up an ad to meet the woman who will be the perfect wife, mother, and sub. His best friend and his wife help him find worthy woman. Too bad nobody lived up to Victoria.

“God, I wanted that. I wanted her, just as she was now. Holding a baby. Holding my baby.”

We are literally left in the park when Devlin see Victoria with her baby that he didn’t even know she had. I absolutely cannot wait for the next part of this series!! (4.5 stars)

5 Secretive-Stars! ☆☆☆☆☆ I loved the story of how Victoria and Devlin first met. They are one hot couple, if Victoria would just let him into her life. The twists and turns in the plot had me excited for the next chapter before i was even done with the one i was currently reading. I liked that the story was simple and sweet, and the cliffhanger at the end made me gasp out loud! I must warn readers that it is a slow read at times, but even though that normally pisses me off, here it worked. I got to know all the characters and connected with Victoria right away. Normally stories that revolve around babies annoy me, but again, here it didn't bother me in the least bit. (ツ) i enjoyed this book and cant wait for book 2! PS: Devlin is a hot BDSM loving Dom who melts off women's panties just by looking at them. ;)

I received this as an ARC from the author. This was a 4.5 star for me which means I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it pretty much straight through. I was drawn to the author's books because I tend to like dark erotica and her books generally definitely deliver on that front. This one is not a dark romance and Devlin is Alpha but not as hard or rough as I tend to like a hero-he was a little mushier than I'm used to. This is more of a feel good romance to me so far. It does continue on to another book (which I CANNOT WAIT to read)! If you're looking for a dark romance this is not it but the story moved along really well and I like this author. I will definitely be looking for more from her.

Thanks so much again for the ARC-I appreciate it!

Alaska Angelini had me so immersed in this story after only two pages. Devlin is a Hot Alpha, looking for more. One night with Victoria would change Devlin's life and future, if only he could find her, after she ran. Scared of wanting more, letting someone like Devlin in, would ultimately destroy her if he didn't want her for more. She had no choice but to run. Will he find her, will she let him in, will he giver what she wants, will she tell him her secret?
I give this 5 stars. I love the chemistry between these two characters, the quick banter, stubbornness, and the craving for each other.

Two words:

Victoria sucks.

I mean every ten seconds she was complaining "oh he will never change," oh we can't be together" boohoo. The only reason why this book even has a star is because of Devlin. He obviously wanted to change. The man put out an ad in the newspaper saying it, and all Victoria does is complain about the past. Technically they weren't even in an relationship to begin with, plus SHE left HIM so she can't get mad when he moved on. And the fact that she wouldn't tell him about Ava.... Blew my fucking mind.

Done with this story. Author, write more books with men like Devlin... Less books with women like Victoria.

This was pretty good, although the cliffy ending is a killer!!!

Thank goodness I have the next one loaded up and ready to go.

Devlin is sex on a stick but I find he almost has 2 personas. His "dom" attitude seems to be something he can turn off when required. Not so sure that's a good idea...to bottle up all that manly power. He might just over-heat or something.

Victoria should loosen up a little and confess her secrets. Put on your big girl panties.

Such an intense chemistry

This story is one that is easy to get lost in. I sat down to start book one thinking I’d read a few chapters before going to bed. Now here I am finishing the whole series in one sitting. The story and characters are captivating. My feels had me all over the place. Their passion and just the intensity of their chemistry made me a puddle on the floor. Devlin and his Dom stole my heart immediately he had me on my knees begging for more. Victoria is in this struggle with herself and to watch it unfold was amazing. The story keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat.
