Sacred Vows #1

The Devil's Wife

Rate this book
I made a mistake. Now, the Devil owns me.

I’ve tried to be good. Years ago, I buried all of my wickedness to be loved. I told only the most innocent of lies. I respected the most important of boundaries. And when I stole, I made sure to cover my tracks.

But I messed up. I hacked into the most dangerous organization in Chicago—the Luporini Mafia. Cold and ruthless Salvatore Luporini emerged from the shadows with a hunger to possess me. He claimed he only wanted me for my skills, but every liar knows a half-truth when she sees one.

He offered me a marry him for his protection or let his rival tear me to shreds for my illicit knowledge.

I carved out escape.

Except, Salvatore’s coveted me for too long to give up so easily. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep me under his control and at his side.

So if he insists on keeping me, I won’t be good anymore.

The Devil’s about to learn just how wicked his wife can be.

The Devil’s Wife is the first book of the Sacred Vows series. It is a traditional HEA and can be read as a standalone. It contains dark themes, morally grey characters, graphic violence, and explicit spice.

No OWD and he’s not with anyone else after he starts watching her 🙌

I kinda got lost at some points I’m not sure if it was just me or the writing but I enjoyed the story either way

One thing that annoyed me though is I got her relationship to her exs mother but come ON the guy was cheating on you, using you to get ahead at work, is all around just a POS and at the end the H gives him a job because h asks him to because she made a promise to his mother to take care of him. Idk I’m PETTYY

I genuinely enjoyed this book—it had everything I look for in a mafia romance when it comes to the main characters. The FMC actually had a personality (finally!), and the MMC wasn’t your typical jerk. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Every interaction between them had me swooning, and their dynamic was so refreshing and emotionally satisfying.

That said, the plot itself left me confused more often than not. The mafia angle felt poorly explained—things kept happening without much context, and new characters were dropped into the story with little to no introduction. It made it hard to follow what was going on and why certain events mattered.

Still, despite the chaotic storyline, the leads carried the book. If you’re here for a swoon-worthy romance and great character chemistry, you’ll love this.

Marisol may have made the tiny mistake of finding out that the Mafia has been taking money from the company her boyfriend works for. When she tries to give him the information so he can be promoted, she finds him cheating on her. Now, not only is he not getting the information, she has a target on her back from the Mafia.

Salvatore Luporini has been watching Marisol everyday for months. You could say he is a bit obsessed, but it goes much deeper than that. When Marisol is on her way back to her apartment, it becomes Salvatore's opportunity to capture what he has been obsessing over. She is not getting away from him now that he has her.

I really liked the story and the characters. Marisol doesn't fold like a taco, and she is strong enough to stick up for herself, even in the face of danger. She is Salvatore's weakness, and she owns it. Salvatore was a great obsessive MMC, and we were able to get more background information on him than we did with Marisol, creating a better character imo. Also, when you think of a touch her and 💀 character, he embodies that trope fully.

I think where the story went wrong for me is that their relationship developed so fast. Almost too fast. She was attracted to him from the beginning, but it definitely was like a wildfire, and I wish there was more time for her to develop the feelings/obsession that he had months to develop. The plot was still interesting and spice was still great, but I wish there was a more drawn out portion to her accepting her fate.

⟣Tropes⟢
✅ Touch her and 💀
✅ Curvy FMC
✅ Obsessive/JP MMC
✅ Dual POV’s (first person)
✅ Kidnapped
✅ Insta-Love
✅ No OW/OM drama
✅ FMC not Virgin
✅ Mafia
✅ Stalker
MINE
✅ HEA

Looking for something to read this weekend? I have it right here—a story that hooks you in the first few pages, an FMC that you can resonate with, and a plot that doesn’t have a dull moment. Eve Ciric’s The Devil’s Wife is a mafia romance that includes all this.

Marisol is a hacker who finds herself involved in a situation where she thought she was carefully covering her tracks but didn’t quite. All of this overlaps when she discovers her boyfriend and friend doing something they shouldn’t, leading to her drowning her sorrows in copious amounts of margaritas. With her senses dulled, she gets kidnapped by a mafia boss, Salvatore. Oh, and Salvatore has been shmalking her for quite some time. Salvatore knows everything about Marisol—even when her time of the month arrives.

I love Marisol’s character. Saying she is “sassy” would be a disservice to describe her. She is confidently argumentative and snarky to Salvatore. She speaks what is on her mind. Her internal dialogue is awesome. Salvatore wants her to be his wife, claiming to protect her, though he truly has met his match. He falls hard. And the spice scenes are what kids say, “chef kisses.”

The Devil’s Wife was an enjoyable mafia romance read. I loved the power dynamic between Marisol and Salvatore. However, she’s the only one that can make him break.

Thank you to Author Eve Ciric for the gifted copy of The Devil’s Wife. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I can't believe this is the authors first book. This story turned out to be one of my favourite mafia romances I've read in a long time!

The FMC is great. She's aware of her flaws and wants to be better. Marisol pushes the MMC whenever she can even though she's completely out of her element. The only thing that didn't really make sense to me was when Salvatore tried to push her away. She's immediately like 'I don't believe you don't be an asshole. ' But for someone who has felt unloved for het whole life, that seemed like too much confidence.

The Salvatore is a wonderfully obsessed idiot. He just can't help his obsession so he just goes with it. I would've loved to see more of his stalking prior to them meeting. We're told he's been obsessed for months but we're not shown.

HOLY MOLY!!!!
I'm going to be honest and say I went into this with very little expectations cause "you've read one mafia romance, you've read them all" was kind of my mindset but!!!
Eve!!!! Girl, you killed it!!
The OBSESSION was to DIE for!! Who doesn't love a man who is OBSESSED AND GROVELS!!! And Marisol!! Weak little FMC turned freaking B.A. seriously ate this whole book up in a day's time and that ending had me on the edge of my seat and gasping, AT WORK! I loved it and just can't say enough about it!
And the spice was JUST enough without being overly used.
I also loved that certain scenes weren't heavily in the book there was a good mix of open and closed door scenes!

An amazing mafia debut! I love this trope and this didn't disappoint, with an unusual take on the mafia romance. Marisol is a great hacker, she finds out that the mafia have been taking money from her boyfriend Grant's company. Grant has been using Marisol as he is cheating in her, she now longer wants to help him with her discovery, feeling used, angry and betrayed. But Salvatore Luporini has also been watching and obsessing over Marisol, he takes her wanting her for her skills and for himself.

I found the first part of the book hard to follow at times as you don't get to a build up with Sal's stalking behaviour, which is a shame as it would have added an element of understanding to the book, wherelse your just thrown in the deep end. They marry so quickly, It's almost missed.

The second half of the book is so much better, it's action packed, gripping, steamy, I couldn't put it down! Marisol is a strong female, she comes into her own and is perfect to stand by Sal's side. Together they are a strong force, fighting to gain control with their skill sets. He is a ruthless mafia leader, she an amazing nerd. Not a conventional match but perfect in other way's. I wish they would have had another wedding, to unite them properly. But hoping they are in the next book in the series , and we see more glimpses into them as a couple.
A great book and highly recommend. I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

When Marisol hacks into her boyfriend's company and discovers the Mafia has been hacking into the company to steal from it, she thinks its just what she needs to revive her relationship. Instead, she finds her boyfriend actively cheating on her, and gets kidnapped by Salvatore Luporini. Salvatore has been watching and slowly becoming obsessed with Marisol for months. He planned on enticing her to help him with her hacking skills, but her recent discovery has revealed her to Junior, the particularly unhinged and dangerous son of the Don. Salvatore hopes that keeping Marisol confined will keep her safe, but as Junior continues to push for Marisol, she keeps pushing for freedom. Can Salvatore convince Marisol to stay?

The Devil's Wife is a mafia romance between a morally grey hacker and a mafia boss who's fanatical about her. Marisol is not afraid to do what it takes to get what she wants, and she's not about to roll over for any domineering man. Salvatore is intent on keeping her safe but near him, despite the cost. Sparks fly and the interactions between the two make for an enjoyable, spicy read with plenty of danger.

I read this based on a review off of booktok.

Salvatore & Marisol are two main characters you instantly fall in love with independently. Salvatore has stalker Marisol for years and is obsessed with her. He knows absolutely everything about her and is always willing to put her wants above anything, even at times over her safety. Marisol is a brilliant puzzle loving hacker. To her everything’s a contest and she must win. Marisol has lived a hard life but doesn’t allow it to make her weak. If anything she finds strength from it. The main characters are strong and well developed, however I found the plot and secondary characters excessive making it unnecessarily confusing. If the plot and characters had been edited down slightly this would have made the book much more enjoyable and easier to follow.

Marisol and Salvatore are the main characters. Salvatore is stalker obsessed with Marisol who's a hacker. I really tried to like it but, in a way, it was hard to follow and tended to drag in spots. There were really good parts like when she asked for the eye and Salvatore accepted, he was whipped. I think the issue was while the two main characters were good, the others weren't fleshed out and the reader didn't seem to get why they were there. There was also too many. If the author had narrowed the story line down and eliminated a few characters, it would have flowed much better. Both main characters were strong and determined. Delicious & Dirty Debut with the Devil

Bonus Prologue: Sign up for Eve’s newsletter and you can read the Bonus Prologue and really understand where the obsession started.

From the cover to the book blurb I knew I needed to read The Devil’s Wife. It was a solid delivery of a debut book. Salvatore and Marisol both having a morally grey undertone was a pairing perfection.

They were hot and matched each other’s depraved desires. I gobbled them up.

“If you agree to this, I want you all in.”

I would rate it a 4.25, there were a few details in the story to tighten up and prevent some confusions. I can’t wait to dive deeper into The Butcher’s Wife next.

Marisol is the strong FMC that you’ve been looking for.

To help her boyfriend get a promotion and finally ask her to marry him, Marisol jacks into his company’s database and figures out who’s been stealing contracts from them. Accidentally stumbling on the fact that it’s The Outfit (mafia) that’s the orchestrating it all. When Marisol finds her BF to tell him, and discovers him having ‘alone time’ with a friend, she accidentally runs into the arms of Salvatore ‘Il Diablo’ who has secretly been keeping an eye on her and uses this as his opportunity to finally lay claim on her. Doing this causes major problems throughout the Chicago Outfit and Salvatore has to work to keep Marisol safe from his enemies.

Oh so delicious. These characters took no prisoners and were super fiesty.

Marisol is a hacker who hacked into the wrong place. When Mafia man Salvatore finds her, he had an Ultimatum. Marry him or pay the consequences.

Marisol knew how to get on Salvatore's bad side. She pushed his buttons one too many times and when she tried to defy him and escape, she pulled all her little tricks.

It's their connection that got me the most. I enjoyed that tug of war between them, and boy was it a war. But steamy, romantic and definitely brutal emotionally at least for her. So good!

A true delight to read and I will definitely be looking for more from this author. It was the best.

If you love dark Mafia stories - this one will deliver on all your favourites:
- betrayal
- cheating exes
- stalking
- danger
- and a little unhinged obsession

But it works! The writing rockets the reader into the story of a computer nerd hacker (FMC) and her discovery of valuable information. Our MMC is your A-Grade Mafia-don-alpha-leader who was all kinds of smexy and allure. I wanted more than the teasing of his interest in her, as this would have amplified his stalky-obsessive need and made the steam even hotter. Still - loved that we got such a cool, smart, resourceful and BOSS-girl FMC!

Salvatore, the devil, becomes obsessed with Marisol, a hacker. After Marisol hacks into something from the mob, the wrong people catch breath of her and Sal does what he thinks is right to protect her. He kidnaps her.

This book has spice, action, and a plot you just want to continue jumping into. As you read through the story, there is always something going on to keep you on your toes and to keep you from closing the book.

Sal and Marisol are truly a wonderful couple filled with obsession and love.

Marisol is an aspiring hacker and she uses her skills to find who has been hacking into the company that her boyfriend works for. After finding her boyfriend cheating she is swept up by Salvatore. Salvatore wants Marisol, but also wants to protect her from Junior. The chemistry that sparks between the two of them is incendiary and the fire between them is captivating. Spicy mafia romance, a must read for me.

The Devil's Wife is a lovely dark romance book. The two main characters is made for each other and is what the other person needs to feel like their true self.
I had a fun time reading this book and following Sal and Marisols lovestory. The book is filled with murder, torture, hot times, touch her and die moments, her being a bad ass lady and him trying his best to make her fall as much in love with him as he is with her.

358 pages have never felt like such a chore to get through. Got so over it, didn’t even bother reading the last 50 pages.
The story just kept carrying on with literally nothing happening and the whole time I kept thinking that Junior told Marisol that there’s a rat in Sal’s team and not once did she think about it…. Can’t stand reading about dumb people missing obvious clues.

he got down on his knees TWICE for her!!! this is easily one of the best mafia books i’ve read, one of the best things about this book is that marisol was so fucking strong and didn’t let salvatore make her do things she didn’t want (well besides the kidnapping but you get the point) oh another thing is marisol was so fucking hilarious like she actually had me cracking up she had so much personality and salvatore knew exactly how to handle her even if she didn’t need to be handled

eh. not bad not good.

So I like a lot about this book. There is a “realistic” aspect of the criminal underworld mostly revolving and relying on computers. But somehow the author did not link those two together well until later in the book in my opinion. The smut was fine.
But the title is sort of misleading. We didn’t really see “the devil” until super duper late in the book. If you’re looking for an unhinged mmc, this is not it.

Marisol is a hacker and is trying to find out who is trying to get into the company her boyfriend works at. Salvatore is the head of his Mafia and when Salvatore catches her spying on his Mafia, he gave her an ultimatum, either marry him, or he'll let his rival family know that she's spying on them as well.

I read this on a recommendation of someone else and I am so glad they did! I didn’t plan on spending half a day in bed reading this but I got so wrapped up in it, I had no choice but to sit there and read it all! Marisol was a breath of fresh air to the mafia trope! I absolutely love her hardheadedness! Especially towards the end! Can’t wait to read future books you publish!

I love obsessed man

And let me tell you Sally was so obsessed with Mari and I loved it. It was fast paced Mafia read with lots of twists and turns and I loved their banter and chemistry. Spice was spicy but proper amount and the story was predictable but still interessting to read.

Slow Middle

While I enjoyed this book, the middle kind of dragged for me. The ending made up for it.

I liked having a savy take no crap, not totally helpless kind of MFC paired with an obsessive, kind of deadly golden retriever, touch her, and you die, I'll do anything only for her kind of MMC.

I was rooting for Junior the entire time.

I had such a hard time reading this book. I liked the first 3 chapters, and then it just went down hill real fast.
Nothing about the description of the book actually ended up happening. And more time than not I was left utterly confused by lack of explanation and unnecessarily large character gallery.
If you where to ask me what happened in this book, I would not be able to answer unfortunately.
I really wanted to like this book, it had great potential.

3.5⭐️ Started off a little slow for me but once it got going I couldn’t put it down. I loved how fierce and resourceful Marisol was. It is such a nice change of pace when authors write kick ass heroines. The boys can’t always have all the fun 😉.
