Revelation, the third book in the Iris series by Rebecca Lynn, is a standalone novel filled with humor, friendship, romance and steamy erotica. Release introduced you to Ryann and Jeremy and Redemption continued the adventure of this circle of friends with Ayanna and Jonathan. You’ll love reading the beginning of this sizzling relationship with Mike and Emily in Revelation! Mature readers only.
Attorney, thrill seeker, and Krav Maga master, Emily White is a twenty eight year old powerhouse. However, she has her own dragons to slay while trying to work through the emotions of past relationships. As a disciplined and serious minded woman, she can’t seem to stop thinking about one flirty charming NYPD detective...especially after he makes it clear he’ll be pursuing her full force.
Detective Michael Callahan is fun-loving, brutally honest and one tall handsome slice of heaven. When Emily defeats him in a self-defense class, he discovers no other woman can hold a candle to the petite and curvy lawyer who puts him in his place so effortlessly.
Michael is determined to teach Emily how to open herself up, not only in life but in the bedroom as well. In the midst of their past and present throwing them into dangerous territory, will Michael be able to teach Emily how to show her vulnerability, or will she choose fear over her potential happiness?
Rebecca Lynn is the pen name of two friends who have known each other since their college days. Well read in the romance and erotica genres, they decided to put their heads together and enter the world of writing. Rebecca and Lynn collaborate on plot and characterization, but it is Rebecca who focuses on penning the novels while Lynn works on production and marketing of their books.
Rebecca holds degrees in both English Education and Counseling, and enjoys reading, painting and yoga. She has found a true passion for writing, and currently lives on the East Coast with her husband.
Lynn holds a degree in English Literature with a background in publishing and education. She is now “retired” and enjoys all the spoils of being a stay at home mom. Romance books have been her escape, along with traveling with her husband. She currently lives in Northeast.
I LOVE detective Michael Callahan. Dreamy! He is hot, sexy, funny, and determined to get his woman! Emily is an accomplished, kick ass Lawyer. She's street smart, book smart, and doesn't take any smack from anyone. But I'm still stuck on The Detective. So refreshing to have a hot, fun loving, stable alpha man character after reading hoards of serious, controlling, brooding leading men in romance novels. I could just eat him up! Revelation is the most thorough, complex contemporary romance novel I’ve read in a long while. Thank you, Rebecca Lynn, for writing a complete, stand alone novel over 200 pages long with a real ending!
This third book is my favorite one in the series. I really love Mike the Goofball. The scene with the singing telegram was simply amazing. Mike and Emily really complement each other, opposite do attracts.
Their story also really important, with the issue that Emily stand for, and her work to reach her goal. She's my favorite character, i even like her better that Ayanna, and i adore that pottymouth. Emily small form obviously cant contain her fierceness. And how Mike act and accept her, was just simply amazing. They truly are adorable.
It took certain level badass-ness to be an alpha male, but it took more to be Mike's brand of alpha-male, when he recognize what a fierce creature his woman is. Superb!
Each book in this series just gets better and better. This one is the best to date, but that probably isn't fair to say, as each one has its unique merit and place within the series, and each has a different vibe and feeling to the couple that is being featured. This series is based on an ensemble of friends that are connected in special ways, and they are all hoping to finding love as they work through and fight their insecurities, problems and demons. So I guess I should say that this couple is by far my favorite. Mike and Emily have the right amount of charm, witty banter, lighthearted humor, and amazing chemistry. Mike is the fun loving, flirty, sexy Detective that falls hard (and I mean literally and figuratively, lol) for the diminutive yet spunky, and gorgeous attorney, that exudes confidence in everything in her life except dating and relationships. It is up to the good Detective to break through all her barriers to allow him to love her as she deserves. Emily's self defeating thoughts and behaviors provide much of the angst of this story, and I often just wanted to shake some sense into her; but when past doubts and words have embedded there way into her subconscious, it takes a bit of effort to move past them. God Bless Mike for his persistence and patience, but most importantly his love for all things Em. I really enjoyed this story, and can see how future couples are being set up to continue with this wonderful series; it was also fun getting glimpses of our previous couples and how their lives all flow together. Definitely looking forward to more in this series.
Revelation is the third book in the series. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading Release and Redemption first. Rebecca Lynn are getting better each time with their writing. 4 Krav Maga Stars.
Emily White has had some tough luck with men her best friend at high school was raped by the captain of the football team and Taylor was then an outcast. Emily as well and her trust was hard to give after that. After her ex calling her cold fish in the sack she stayed away from men completely. Understandable to a certain extent. She moves into the same apartment complex as her cousin Jonathan and meets the whole gang as well as Detective Mike Callahan. Throughout the first two books they great banter going. Emily beats Mike to the floor in the self defense class. Emily is sassy, strong and emotionally detached sometimes too much and her negativity really got on my nerves. I liked drunk Emily as she showed her feelings.
Mike Callahan is a ladies man but he loves getting kicks out of Emily and the fact that Emily kicked his arse in the self defense class. They finally give in to one another. In one case Emily felt like she was in Crazy, Stupid, Love and was going to ask Mike if he was also photoshopped. Mike is touchy feely with everyone but that is just his nature. Emily grows on me there is the bedroom scene where she just leaves him cuffed and the sing-o-gram where Papa Pookie Bear (Mike) gets his own back on Ginger Cookie (Emily)
There was a superb plot to the book. I wonder if Mark and Taylor will get their book back in Boston.
I’m giving this a 3 only because I like Mike. Otherwise I’d give it much less. Emily is a horrible person! Judgmental and cruel. She’s quick to project her hatred about ONE relationship on every single male on the planet. Oh, except her cousins.
Throughout this entire book I felt awful for Mike. He put his heart on the line for her. You could see it in his words and actions. All she did was stomp on it at every opportunity. At his most vulnerable moment, she breaks things off with him. Oh yeah, she’s a peach.
There are many things wrong with this character. I did not connect at all and did not find her able to connect to any of the people in her life. Maybe that was the point? She had that brick wall so damn high and thick no one would get in. Why though? I never really understood.
She had one bad relationship in law school. I know he was mentally and verbally abusive. I understand it took her time to retrain her brain to stop believing his words. I know that’s not an easy task.
Before that she dealt with her friend Taylor’s rape in high school. Where she pretty much pushed her friend away in the process. So it’s not just men she doesn’t like or trust. It’s women too. I guess for me I just don’t understand this one at all. I finished the book in case there were things to know for the next story. Otherwise I would have stopped.
Attorney Emily White is a petite fire keg. A Krav-Maga kick asser with strong muscles to match her wit. She has been hurt in the past and will do everything in her power not to be hurt again. Michael Callahan is a tall, dark, and yummy detective who runs in the same circle of friends as Emily but is well known for his sexy womanizing ways. A challenge has Emily taking Mike down on the mats, but there is more fight in these two than a set of Suicides.
This fun and flirty read had a lot of steam and a few frustrations. We loved book 3 of the sexy Iris Series that involves a fantastic group of friends finding love along the way. Mike is such a hilarious character who really tries to get Emily to open up and trust her feelings. Emily is fiery and frustrating to a point, keeping herself safe by pushing Mike away, versus taking the leap and opening her heart to love. We give it 4.5 sighs.
This was the worst of the series so far. It practically screams stereotype and earsplitting bullshit. I cannot count the times I had to roll my eyes and groan at the cheesy and stupid dialogues. The book offers the perfect view of perfect (and I mean PERFECT) people who think they are anything but. Good Thing they realize just how perfect they are during the book. Wow. This was so bad. It serves every cliché there is. Don't know how anyone can actually like this obviously made up perfect world. Nothing about it seems remotely real. At all. Throughout the whole book you just think 'this is all so fake.' It also dragged on for so long I couldn't see the end. And for what? Don't know, don't care!
So no, thank you very much, not ever again will I read a book from this author.
Wow I knew Emily and Mike were going to scorch the pages of this book. This series is about a group of friends/family finding true love in New York city, tackling day to day drama and some not so day to day. These books are great if you have read any of the Rock Chick series you will feel some nostalgia when reading these books. Good stories, hot sex ( more than in RCS) good friends, HEA, standalone reads but has recurring characters from previous books, drama, love and story lines that actually tackle some real life problems. These are characters that you would want as a friend or family member. Good series!!! As good as the first book..
Seriously, my favorite so far of the series. Highly recommend any of these books. You can read them in order or as stand alone. But the story flows better in order. Mike is the man you dream about, and want to find. This group of friends is awesome too, makes you want to move to NY. Well written with a great balance of story, steamy sex, and suspense. The kind of story you could reread over and over. I think I found a new favorite author! p.s. no typos either!!!! buy it! read it!
I somehow didn't realize this was part of a series, but it did not bother me at all - it certainly reads just fine as a standalone while I love the cover, I thought it was too serious for the silliness inside - don't get me wrong, I liked it better that way and the silliness worked for Mike/Emily's story, I was just a little thrown off by the cover loved the whole GC thing and the motorcycle-riding, funny buddy detective? yes, please!
Probably my favorite out of the series so far! Although I really can't wait for Janie and Luke! I loved Mike and Emily. They made me laugh in every chapter, I couldn't get enough.
It was an adorable story that was very realistic. There were moments so cute I almost cried and then there were moments that I wanted to pull my hair out. Ms. Lynn is a great writer and creates great stories.
