Ev Bishop is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author, who believes in the power of fiction to transform lives, knowing we both lose ourselves—and find ourselves!—in good stories.

Best known for her small-town contemporary romance series, River’s Sigh B & B, readers describe her books as “full of humor, love and wisdom,” set in places “where breathtaking scenery and the magic of love are the best medicine for the soul.”

In addition to writing novels—her favorite length of story because she always has so much she wants to fit in!—Ev was a columnist with the Terrace Standard for almost twenty years and is a prolific scribbler of . . . other things. Her articles, essays, short stories, and poems appear in a variety of publications, and she also writes under the pen name Toni Sheridan.

When Ev’s nose isn’t in a book or her fingers aren’t on her keyboard, you’ll find her with her family and dogs or playing outside, usually at the lake or in the middle of a forest somewhere.

She loves any and all garden-related talk and work, cooking (and eating!), and making all sorts of random things—especially out of upcycled or reclaimed items.

This book is part of a series linked by puppies from the same litter and the people who adopted and love them. The characters are loosely connected as they live in the same small Florida town, but you don't need to read the books in order. You don't even need to read all of them, but if you enjoy books about puppies/dogs, and enjoy an easy to read book, you may want to start at the beginning and read them all. Each human is overcoming life issues and the dogs enhance their lives.

Leo has moved from Seattle to Florida to join her sister, planning to run her sister's book shop together. They had decided to adopt siblings from a litter, but Leo's sister has died in an accident before the litter was born. Leo reluctantly decides to take both puppies, already having been paid for.

Puppies are joyful and distracting and before long, they have Leo slowly starting to work through her grief and to get back to work at the book shop. As customers find their way back to the shop, Leo starts to make relationships with them, some even become friendships. With every day that passes, and each human encounter, Leo begins to dig her way out of her deep, all encompassing grief. She learns that other people have also experienced traumatic loss and learns how they cope.

This is a great story about puppy devotion, friendship and love.

Their lifelong dream becomes a reality when Leola (Leo) moves to Florida to help her sister Vria run a bookstore and they agree to adopt two Labrador Retrievers from the same litter.
But then the unthinkable happens, Vrai is killed in a freak accident.
Leo is left with only her memories, lives in an unknown town with no friends, owns a bookstore she has no idea how to run and has adopted two rambunctious puppies.
But she will soon learn that the town of Dragonfly Cove is just the place she was meant to be. With welcoming characters, a bookstore where people like to gather and two adorable puppies who love her, Leo’s heartbreak soon begins to heal.

Thank you, Ev Bishop, for another wonderful tail! This is book #5 in a nine book collaboration of founding members of the Facebook group "My Book Friends." The premise is a nine puppy litter of yellow labrador retrievers finding their forever homes. Each book tells the story of a puppy and their new person(s). Book #5 is about a TWO sweet pups named Loyal and True. This series can be read in sequence or not. They are all just wonderful, heartwarming tails.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

After a few life changes, Leo agrees to move to Florida to help her sister Vrai run her bookstore, Beach Reads. What wasn't a part of the plan was for Vrai to die & Leo to be left in a town where she knows no one with a bookstore to run. Will Leo follow through with their plan of getting Labrador Retriever puppies from Leslie the breeder? How will Leo navigate a new town, a book store & Loyal & True?

In Loyal & True, Leo is torn between gut-wrenching grief and excitement over new relationships she is experiencing. Ev Bishop always pulls me into her stories and I can never put them down. This well written book had me experiencing Leo’s pain as well as how overwhelmed she felt trying to mother both dogs. Then, slowly, Leo finds moments of joy, reopens the bookstore an learns to love again. I really felt like I was there in Dragonfly Cove and loved watching Leo heal.

Leo’s sister died unexpectantly and she follows through with adopting the 2 puppies they had planned on and also keeping their bookstore open. She meets new friends and works through her grief. At times, I felt the grief she felt was repeated too many times. Thank you to the author for the ARC; all opinions are my own.
