Dangerous Deceit

Rate this book
I’ll sensually degrade her until she confesses.

As the face of our mafia’s front company, marriage will complete my image as a model citizen. When a prisoner offers his innocent niece as payment, I make her my wife.

But Vi isn’t innocent. She loves to be degraded, just as much as she loves forced pleasure. On top of that, she’s endlessly loyal to her family.

And I fall for her hard.

As time passes, it becomes clear my wife is hiding her family’s secrets. And once those truths come to light, I’m ordered to execute our enemies. The yakuza always comes first; I will do what’s right for my family.

But what about my wife?

Will I be forced to kill her too?

This review contains out of context quotes that could be considered spoilers for some

'He’s hard and venomous, but he feels like love, like safety, like protection, like a real home, like I can bury myself inside of him and never come out.'

I LOVED THIS.
First, because it was my very Yakuza romance debut (which is wild considering my unhealthy obsession with the mafia) and I really felt like Audrey did a great job at diving into the culture while also respecting culture and traditions.
I mean, I'm not as well-versed with the Yakuza as I am with the Italians and remain an outsider at the end of the day, but being the neuro-spicy cliché I am, I obviously spent hours after on the internet, reading about them. It was great to see that not only does Audrey seem to have done her research but she also had sensitivity readers. It showed.

My second big reason for how much I enjoyed this book was, without a doubt, Kenzo. From the very first second I was obsessed with him and, in turn, his own obsessiveness. He's the perfect mixture of calm, confident, skilled and unhinged, problematic, brutal in my opinion.
And I very much enjoyed his POVs, seeing the world and the FMC through his eyes.
I had suspicions she was up to something too, but I dismissed it because— Because— Well, because she fucking distracted me.

Plus, I am so SO glad about he handled things. He showed the maturity I'd expect of a character with his story while also delivered the toxicity to match it. Not to mention the moments of other wholesomeness that man delivered and have impacted my own standard.

“You should’ve run,” I say. “You shouldn’t have indulged me or your uncle in this marriage, and you shouldn’t have let me take you to our resort so you can have your own room.”

I haven't read the first version of this book and the only other work of Audrey's I've read so far is Skins. So there isn't really any comparing her works, but one thing I definitely noticed was that the writing here felt a little more... accommodating. As in some things were repeated quite a bit, almost to an extend that I personally found unnecessary but surely might be what others seek.

Either way, I am once again impressed by how Audrey's brain works, by how nonchalantly she delivers the darkest sides of humanity and thus creates a story that very much allows me to delulu myself into thinking this could happen to me.

"My little danger queen, running straight toward the fire."

I will absolutely read the next book in the series and hopefully many more of Audrey Rush's work.

Tropes:
* arranged wedding
* FMC with a secret
* mafia anti-hero
* found family

This is a rewrite of Cunning Lies with added content. I didn’t read the original, so I’m approaching this story with fresh eyes.

The book starts off strong, throwing you right into the action. We meet our MMC, Kenzo, a member of the Yakuza. And when I say you’re dropped in the thick of it—I mean it. Kenzo is interrogating someone, and the FMC, Vivian, is also being held in the room. What Vivian doesn’t know is that her uncle has just offered her in an arranged marriage.

Audrey includes a glossary at the front of the book for all the Japanese terms used. While it’s helpful, it’s not strictly necessary, as she does an excellent job of explaining the terms naturally within the story.

Kenzo is a force to be reckoned with—the degradation that comes out of this man's mouth is downright delicious. I do wish Vivian’s strength matched her snark a bit more, but overall, the book was excellent. I’m highly anticipating the other stories in this series and definitely recommend it!

Going into it with the warnings, I'm like, oh, this is going to be a ride. But we already knew going in that Kenzo and Vi were going to get their happy ending. But at times, I'm like, how are they going to come back from that.
The "Uncle" is a piece of shit. I knew something was up with him, when he found when she was a little girl and said You shouldn't be here!" Grrrr, what a ******. I, however, really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading Dice and Lily's story.

“Weren’t you saying you wanted something different lately? Maybe you need a wife.”
“What was I supposed to say? ‘Stop fingering me in front of everyone?’”
“You want to keep playing this game?”
“Why aren’t you running?”

Great, dark, arranged marriage yakuza romance.

Loved the relationship development between Kenzo & Vi. The degradation and praise were so good! And the public scenes 🔥 I need Kenzo in my life…

The plot kept me hooked and there were multiple plot twists I didn’t see coming. There were some parts that were slower paced, giving more time to character and relationship development while some parts were faster with more action. The story never felt dull or rushed.

I’ve read multiple mafia romances before but I believe this was the first yakuza romance I’ve read. Loved the cultural aspect with different ceremonies, language etc.

Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Kenzo is a walking red flag. 🚩 she annoyed me a few times in the beginning because there’s no way she thought they could fool this man lol other than that audrey’s writing flows beautifully and the story picks up quickly.

Other than the SA and the blind loyalty to her family...I liked it. Loved Kenzo and his dirty degrading words more tho.

Vi's loyalty to her 'Uncle Jay' is lost with me. Family family blah blah blah

Kenzo...I love him. I want someone like him (since he only has eyes for Vi)

Is Cherry gay? Make her gay. I like Cherry, wish we saw more of her.

Dangerous Deceit
Vi is a con artist. Kenzo is in the yakuza. Vi's mission is to get intel on deals the yakuza is about to make. Kenzo's mission is to find out why Vi is in his life (what she's up to) but that doesn't mean he can't play with her.

~ “You like being exposed like this?” he murmurs. “My pretty little virgin getting her purity ripped out of her like a fucking whore.”
“I—” I choke out, but it’s so hard to talk. Hard to think. “I can’t—”
“I don’t give a fuck about what you think I want,” he says, his tone growing into a howl. “I don’t want a virgin. I don’t want your coyness. I want you. We aren’t leaving this balcony until you come so hard you can’t breathe.”

~ “You want me to choke you while I tongue fuck your p***y, baby?”
“Beg me,” I demand.
“Please,” she whines, but her voice is low. “I want you. Please—”
“That’s not good enough, sl*t.”
“Please,” she whines. “Choke me while you tongue- fuck me. Please—”
The words come out before I can stop them: “And who am I to you?”
“My husband.”

~ When Vi sets her sights, she doesn’t let go until she has it. I admire that. That’s my woman. My wife.

~ “You’re so pathetic,” he says. “You need to get off so badly you’re fucking your own hand. What a greedy little cunt.”
“I bet it’s a conditioned response,” he whispers coarsely. “Any time I walk past, you smell my dick, and you get wet for me, don’t you?
“Promise me you’ll never fuck another man again,” he repeats. “In this life. In the next. I want you all to myself.”
“The longer you stay, the harder it is for me to think. And I swear to god, if another man touches you and I’m not there to stop it, I won’t eat. I won’t sleep. I won’t stop until I have his head on a spike. And if I have to, I will strangle your uncle until he tells me the name of every man who has ever laid a hand on you, and I will gut them all like pigs, just to make sure you’re safe.”
“I promise, Kenzo! I promise you’re the only person who will touch me for the rest of my life!”

~ “You didn’t have to kill him for me.”
“Actually, I did,” he says. “I’m not going to apologize for what I did, Vi. He hurt you, and I refused to let that go.”

~ Uncle Jay is my family, but Kenzo is my home.

Okay I'll stop before I copy and paste every word Kenzo has said. Fuck I love that man's mouth.
I still don't know who was watching when Kenzo live streamed their little torture session (sexual + forced orgasms - Chapter 34).

“Kenzo is the biggest red flag of them all, but I’m still here.”

4⭐️ This is the first book I’ve read of the yakuza mafia genre. So it was very exciting to see how different styles of mafia play out and I really enjoyed the cultural aspect to it with different language and ceremony.

Their initial interactions felt a bit clunky to me. They’re both so distrustful of each other yet their infatuation blinds them. Which is an intriguing dynamic and but felt a little ingenuine at times. I think this also impacted the plot pacing. They pick it up and put it back down several times which repeated a lot in the first half of the book.

I like his brand of spice. There’s some interesting scenes that get played out which I was here for. I also had this really nice vivid imagery of his yakuza tattoos which I really want to see IRL. I was here for the degrad moments and his depraved lines. Sinful and spicy!

The plot twists in the end were quite well played and I didn’t predict them which is always a nice experience as an avid reader. Great book overall. Looking forward to the next in the series.

OMG! This is my first time reading an Audrey Rush book that wasn’t HORROR erotic, and I’m absolutely blown away! I love a sexy mafia arranged marriage, and this is also my first time reading one based around the Yakuza, and I’m a sucker for a dangerous man, with dark thick hair, and curved manhood!

I thought Kent was going to steal my heart and keep it for himself, but Kenzo might have to fight for it! Vi is one lucky B!!

Kenzo and Vi’s relationship was raw, intense, messy, and beautiful. I held on to every word, emotion, feeling, and sexual desire between these two until the HEA end. I’m in a serious book hangover, yet I want More of these two love birds ❤️

Mrs. Rush I love you and I cant wait for Dice and Lily. I have a feeling I’ll want to be ‘bound and gaged’ by these men by the time the series is done 😂

I received this an ARC and my review is my own!

I love Audrey rush, she is one author I will automatically click on without reading the blurb. This is the first time I’ve read a Japanese Mafia book and I really enjoyed it, it’s not as dark as some of Audrey’s writing but that didn’t stop me devouring this in a day. I can’t wait to read more from the Vegas Yakuza series!

I was nervous going into this book because my reading of Audrey Rush is typically dark, twisted and psychological
But this book took my by surprise, put me in a chokehold in anticipation of the other books

Vi lost her family young and her “uncle jay” and Patrick have taken care of her teaching her all their con games

Kenzo is part of the Japanese Mafia world in Las Vegas
When her uncle gives her to Kenzo to settle a debt no one could imagine the outcome

Ready for book 2!!!

"Blood on the floor. Music in my chest.
Does it amuse me or bore me?"

This book was not the usual horror I am used to from Audrey and I still loved it. Audrey's writing just works for me. I enjoy it. I enjoy the characters, the red flags, the romance. This book was based on Yakuza, I don't know much about them. This was the first book I read about it. I devoured this story in one go. Kenzo and Vi were a rollercoaster ride and I did not want to get off. Well done Audrey! The maffia romance besties are going to devour this one.

It’s so easy to fall in love with Kenzo. The man can do it all, and then some. Most mafia men will put their woman before anything else, even above the mafia. But not Kenzo, and he lets Vi know it.

Vi has quite the messed up family, thankfully they all get what they deserve in the end. Vi also gets an amazing family with Kenzo and his relatives.

📖 Genre: Dark Mafia Romance / Forced Marriage / Psychological Thriller

🖋 Author: Audrey Rush

⭐️ Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

🔥 Tropes: Arranged Marriage, Mafia Boss x Captive Bride, Degradation & Power Play, Enemies-to-Lovers, Dark Secrets & Betrayal

If you like your mafia romances dark, intense, and laced with deception, Dangerous Deceit delivers all that and more. Audrey Rush doesn’t hold back, this book is filled with raw tension, toxic attraction, and moral dilemmas that hit hard.

Kenzo is a ruthless yakuza boss who needs the perfect "good citizen" image to solidify his empire. What better way than marriage? So when a desperate prisoner offers up his "innocent" niece as payment, Kenzo takes the deal.

The only problem?
Vi isn’t so innocent.
She’s fiercely loyal to her family, willing to hide deadly secrets, and to Kenzo’s absolute fascination, she thrives on his dark, degrading dominance.
What starts as a marriage of convenience quickly turns into an obsession. But as Vi’s secrets unravel, Kenzo is forced to choose between his loyalty to the yakuza and the woman he’s claimed as his own. Will he be able to protect her, or will she end up on his kill list?

Kenzo is cold, calculated, and completely in control. He doesn’t just run the yakuza, he embodies it. Every move is strategic, every decision made with ruthless precision.

So when his public image needs an upgrade, he does what any mafia boss would do, he buys a wife.
Vi isn’t given a choice. She’s forced into marriage, used as a bargaining chip in a world where love is a weakness, and loyalty is everything.

But Kenzo quickly learns two things about his new bride:
1. She isn’t the delicate, innocent woman she pretends to be.
2. She likes being controlled, punished, and utterly wrecked.

Their relationship is a battle of wills, a twisted dance of power and pleasure until Kenzo discovers Vi is hiding something.
She’s protecting someone. Lying to him. And in his world, betrayal has only one punishment: death.
Kenzo is ordered to eliminate his enemies. The problem? Vi might be one of them.

Now, he’s faced with an impossible choice:
Kill the woman he’s grown to love?
Or betray the only family he’s ever known?

What I Loved: Dark, Gritty, and Utterly Addictive
✅ Kenzo’s Deliciously Ruthless Mindset – He’s the ultimate antihero—vicious, controlling, and absolutely obsessed with owning Vi, body and soul. But beneath the icy exterior, he’s fighting battles of his own. His internal war between love and loyalty is what makes him such a compelling character.
✅ Vi’s Unbreakable Spirit – Despite being forced into marriage, Vi refuses to fully submit—at least, not in the way Kenzo expects. She’s strong, cunning, and fiercely protective of the people she loves. Her secrets run deep, and watching Kenzo unravel them was intoxicating.
✅ The Tension & Power Play – If you love high-stakes push-and-pull dynamics, this book delivers in spades. Their relationship is volatile, built on a foundation of lust, danger, and deception. The mind games, the punishments, the reluctant trust—it’s all so addictive.
✅ The Moral Dilemma – Kenzo is a killer, bound to the yakuza's code. Vi is loyal to her family—even if it means betraying her husband. The looming question of who will betray whom first keeps you on edge until the very last moment.
✅ The Steam (🔥🔥🔥🔥) – Let’s just say… this book does NOT hold back. If you love your dark romances intense, explicit, and a little bit twisted, Kenzo and Vi’s scenes are next-level addictive.

What Could Have Been Better?
The Ending Could Have Hit Harder – While I loved the final twist, I felt like the resolution wrapped up a little too quickly compared to the slow-burning suspense of the rest of the book.

Final Verdict: Read This If You Love…
✔️ Dark, Twisted Mafia Romances with an Edge

✔️ Morally Gray Heroes Who Struggle Between Duty & Desire

✔️ Psychological Power Play & Degradation Kink

✔️ Forced Marriage Turned Obsessive Love

✔️ A Hero Who Will Either Kill Her or Die for Her

Dangerous Deceit is a book that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. It’s dark, seductive, and full of psychological mind games that will leave you breathless.

Kenzo and Vi’s story is one of lust, lies, and loyalty pushed to the breaking point. If you love mafia romances that blend passion with peril, this is one you don’t want to miss.

⚠️ But be warned: this book isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s raw, dark, and filled with themes that might push boundaries. But if you’re up for a romance that’s as ruthless as it is irresistible, Dangerous Deceit is absolutely worth the ride.

This is a mafia romance, specifically a Yakuza centered, arranged marriage. This is a re-release of this novel. It's book 1 in the Vegas Yakuza Series. It's a standalone in a interconnected series. The characters are connected but each book could be read individually. There obviously is a big nod to Japanese traditions and people throughout the series. There are triggers and a lot of violence. I suggest getting familiar with the Japanese terms used in the book.

The two main characters in this novel are Kenzo and Vi. They're book living in Las Vegas. Kenzo is hardcore Yakuza mafia. Kenzo does what needs need to be done for the mafia family without question. Kenzo is presented an arrangement to marry Vi. Loyalty is everything to the Yakuza.

Vi also does what she thinks is best for her family, which is her uncle and cousin. Vi's family are longtime conmen. Vi is a survivor, though. Neither Kenzo or Vi thought beyond the arrangement. Vi is conveniently put in the middle between her family and Kenzo. What happens if choosing wrong will cost not just your life but others? It's hard to know your enemies from your family, at a certain point.

Kenzo is definitely a villain. He does a lot of really bad and terrible things to Vi. At the same time Vi can't help but be turned on. Kenzo is very dominant and in control. It could also be because Vi has been so manipulated. Regardless, both Vi and Kenzo both have their roles to play in their own families, and that definitely puts them on opposite sides at times. Will Vi ever find her way out of either family? Better yet, does Vi want to?

This a little different because it's basically Japanese mafia in the US. All the while still battling the original Yakuza in Japan. The book is 372 pages, not terribly long. It is very spicy. Our two characters have copious amounts of sex out in the open. There's also strip clubs, illegal hustles, violence, and backstabbing. I don’t know if I can ever get over the torture scene between Vi and Kenzo. That was rough. A lot of "family" dynamics. Family doesn't mean blood in this book. Family means who you choose. You better pick correctly, or the Yakuza will get too creative in your demise and disposal.

“Is everything about you a lie?”

I was not prepared for the way this book was going to suck me in and keep me HOOKED.

An arranged marriage between a “con artist” and a Yakuza member, Dangerous Deceit , was a delightful mix of plot with some gore and amazing spicy scenes that had me fanning my face!!

This book starts off pretty strong with an immediate attraction on Kenzo’s side for our FMC, Vi (Vivian). One look at her and he knew he was a goner for her. However, not willing to take the bait easily of a potential wife, he tests her and decides that she’s what he wants. He doesn’t want that “shy” portrayal she’s giving, he wants her sass and everything that she tries to hide.

Kenzo said “my wife” approximately 51 times throughout the entire book and every. single. time. I SWOONED for this man!!!

I loved how he instantly became overprotective over Vivian and sought out her safety, even from those who she loved and were supposed to protect her.

Vivian went through SO much, that I believe a lot of it was forgotten as a coping mechanism/defense mechanism.

Patrick and ‘Uncle’ Jay were literal pieces of human garbage .

Discovering what Vi had to go through under their ‘care’ brought me so many tears and the fact Kenzo avenged her in various ways, made me happy she found someone like Kenzo, even if he’s not a good guy either.

Even though this all began as a deception towards the Yakuza, the emotional toll that both main characters had in this book made me love it anymore. Yes, there was instant attraction, but you could tell Kenzo genuinely cared about Vivian. This gave his character such contrast because how can he do what he does for a living and then be this sweet, attentive, husband??? Like where can I get one!!

”Promise me you’ll never f—k another man again,” he repeats. “In this life. In the next. I want you all to myself.”

YALL, I LITERALLY CANT.

Seriously, if you’re looking to dive into some Yakuza reads, I think this is the perfect beginning to start with. Not only is it raw with emotion, but it has that ✨ special touch✨ only Audrey is able to provide.

The ending to this story was just want I needed and I can definitely see myself reading this again.

📍 ARC Review

Hello hello my girly girls!

Today I come with the review for my first 5 star of the year.

Let me start with I already knew this book would be perfect for me as soon as I saw it was by Audrey Rush.

This author is amazing at making smut, but at the same time doesn't let go of intrigue, suspense or expectations depending on the book. The first book I read by this author was a horror/erotica(“My Girl”); something I had never tried reading before but ended up completely loving it. Seeing that she would be publishing a new dark romance and Yakuza( a mafia I had never read before), this ARC just fell right into my lap and is perfect.

From the first page I fell for the MMC, a morally gray character and an incredible loyalty to his family and if we talk about the FMC she’s...How to put it in words? Like a rose. Delicate, sensitive and beautiful, but with thorns that sting you if you don't notice. A perfect combination in my opinion.

Yes there were certain parts in the book where the FMC had certain existential doubts, that while I was reading I was provoked to say “Girl WAKE UP” but being part of the plot they made it perfect.

One point that I didn't expect is that for a dark mafia romance it had the right amount of darkness, not too much but not too little. If you are starting in this genre I think it would be a good book, but always read the warnings because what might be soft for me might be the opposite for someone else.

📍 Do I recommend it?

Of course I do!

if you're looking for a book with very explicit spicy, degradation and excellent Dirty Talk, plus a driven mobster with a lot of loyalty and a picky sense of music, this is the perfect book for you.

Vivian's (Vi) uncle is prisoner to the Yakuza and ends up offering her into an arranged marriage with Kenzo (MMC). He realizes that she isn't as innocent as he thought, she's hiding things from him.

Even though they are enemies they had intense chemistry. It was this strong connection that caused her to second guess betraying her husband. Kenzo was aware that if she is the enemy then she has to go as the Yakuza always comes first.

Holy spice, these two were on fire!! Kenzo's dirty talk and dominance and how she wanted to be submissive to him.

I love how Kenzo was OTT protective and obsessed with her, he couldn't get enough and would unalive anyone that hurt her. She was brave and had a kind heart. Even though her uncle expected her to betray her husband, she still wanted to do the right thing. I felt bad for the things that happened to her in the past.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to find out what's happening between the rival families!

Overall: 4.25 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25

I have read many of Audrey Rush’s books and I still never have any idea where she's going to go…which I LOVE! I read a lot and because of that I can almost always predict the storyline, but I can never seem to do that with her books and I love it.

I didn't know anything about the Yakuza before this book but it is very much like any other mafia type book. I thought the book was a good balance of mafia and romance (and of course spice). I also loved that Kenzo and his family may not be perfect, but they all actually loved and respected each other. It was a nice change of pace, because so many of her characters don’t have loving and supporting people in their life. It worked well in contrast to Vi. I do wish I knew more of Kenzo's back story or maybe got into his head a little more. Also at times I wanted to slap Vi!! I was so upset at her BUT I'm glad I pushed through. Kenzo is still my favorite out of the two.

I feel like she always leaves me wanting more at the end of each chapter, so I just have to keep reading, this book was no different. I finished this book in about 2 days because I just couldn't put it down and needed to know what was going to happen. The spicy scenes are fabulous with all that wonderful dirty degradation she’s so good at. I think she was setting up some fun characters throughout this book as well and I can’t wait to hear their stories! (Please let there be some sapphic smut in the future, or maybe FMF, Cherry is giving sexy bi dom and I’m in love)

Great read as always, love her books!

This was my second book of 2025, my second dark romance I've read by Audrey and my second ARC… they say good things come in three's and they didn't lie with this book, this was sooo damn goooood 😍

The book follows Kenzo a Yakuza gang member living in Vegas and Vi the seemingly innocent niece of a prisioner who offers her up in an arranged marriage to pay his debt. But Vi isn’t innocent, she loves to be degraded 😈 and as time passes, it becomes clear she is hiding her family’s secrets, and once those truths come to light Kenzo will have have some important decisions to make.

Dangerous Deceit is a dark mafia romance, it starts as a slow burn and then all of a sudden I was reading it like BAM Kenzo you bad, bad man 🥵

There is plenty of "who did this to you" and "my wife" and good lord I was lapping that shit uppppp 🧎🏻‍♀️the spice is on point, the praise, the degration, the mirror room with the mirror chair O.M.G the book is also quite dark at points and honestly I could not put it down, it had twists and turns and I was literally shouting at the pages in frustration at times because I worked something out and I was like no no noooooo 😱

Previously I had mostly read erotic horror by Audrey, like Skins, My Girl and Morsel but 1000% check this one out it will be different to her previous books you may be more familiar with but I promise you now, you will not be disappointed and you will be left wanting more of our favourite gang member Kenzo that's for sure 🙂‍↔️🖤

Dangerous Deceit is different from what I am familiar with when it comes to my past reads by Audrey Rush, but I cannot say that I was disappointed.

Kenzo is the adopted son of the head of Yakuza, the book starts with him doing what he does best, interrogation. His future bride Vi draws his attention when she is brought into the room he is working in,, not as a visitor but as a captive. Little does Vi know, this will be the first unofficial meeting with the man her uncle has arranged for her to marry. While it is a given that Kenzo is a dangerous man, it soon become apparent that there is more to Vi that meets the eye.

Kenzo and Vi find themselves in an insta-lust situation. Kenzo knows he is not supposed to get attached to this his wife, because there is a chance she is not to be trusted, but the more time he spends with her the more she digs her way into his heart. While I admire Vi’s loyalty to there family, there were so many times I wanted to shaker her and make the see what was going on around her, thankfully she gets it together by the end.

I really enjoyed this book, Audrey does a wonderful job pulling together the story and in eluding cultural representations that apply to the characters involved. Everything flowed so well together and it was very difficult to put the book down, which is whyI was up until 3:30 in the morning finishing the book up. I cannot wait to read what comes next in this series!

I always get a little nervous every time I start an Audrey Rush book because, surely, it’s unrealistic to think you’re going to love every book someone writes. Eventually you’ll come across a character you never connect with or suffer an ending that was the opposite of everything you wanted. So I go in with cautious optimism with each one knowing this could be the one and I’ll have to be genuinely critical of my fave for once. I’m happy to confirm that Dangerous Deceit was not the one!

It’s funny to me to say that Kenzo was one of the softer, more caring MMCs I’ve read from Audrey especially since he himself says several times he’s not a good guy. And as a Yakuza member, how could he be? He has his charms though and they worked on me as much as they did Vi. I loved him for his honesty and his transparency with her even when she didn’t always see it clearly right away.

Vi wasn't so bad herself. Her loyalty was admirable even if ill placed. However the desire to be really loved and for family is relatable though so you can’t fault her too much.

All in all, a great read that left me entirely satisfied. I’m glad it was my first read of the year, starting off on a winner feels like a good omen.

I freakin loved this story!!!! I hard 180 from previous Audrey Rush reads for me and hawt dayum did this one deliver. Don’t be silly, of course there is still plenty of blood and gore and the degradation is hot AF! Right from page one we are thrown into this organized crime world full speed ahead and it never slows down. Kenzo is phenomenal. He is a true force. His demeanor is fierce. Loyalty to the Yakuza and his family, limitless. All is very well written. I really like his internal struggles and unapologetic behavior. Oh, and his filthy mouth, sizzling, panty, melting hot. A true red flag by all accounts and yet incredibly desirable.
“The longer you stay, the harder it is for me to think. And I swear to God, if another man touches you and I’m not there to stop it, I won’t eat it. I won’t sleep. I won’t stop until I have his head on a spike.“
I truly loved the way, the relationship between Kenzo and Vi evolved. Guarded and apprehensive yet unable to ignore the intense pull and undeniable chemistry, passion wins over all. Super intense and I loved it. The plot unravels with a few twists and is just great. I’m hoping for more from the side characters who are all well developed and equally intriguing. If you like a spicy, violent, dark mafia romance then this is definitely for you especially written by Audrey Rush.
