"To everyone who knows her, Beth’s life seems perfect. She is beautiful, has a successful, rich husband, two great kids in good colleges. Her home is amazing, and she entertains clients, friends and family without a hitch. But Beth has uncovered some secrets, big secrets her family has been keeping for decades. She finds herself at a crossroads; should she tell the secrets to everyone, possibly destroying her family, or should she keep them to herself, knowing it would ruin her happiness forever.
Follow Beth as she discovers for the first time in her life that she has choices, and embarks on a journey within herself to find out what she wants, and who she is. Will Grace and her intuitive little dog help Beth to find her own path? Or will she do as she has always done, put a smile on her face and go along with those who have held her in their power?"

I would very much like to give Telling Secrets a 3.5. I enjoyed the story. There were unexpected twists and turns, Beth was a likable, and more importantly relatable character. Beth's husband was in my naughty book right from the beginning and I was glad to see his appearances diminish as the book went on.
In places the writing was a bit verbose, and some of the dialogue seemed unnatural and repetitive. There were some sentences that didn't either advance the plot or add to understanding the current situation.
Overall, Telling Secrets is an enjoyable read and I would definitely like to read more from the author. I would also recommend the book to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction.
this is a fairly quick read - enough plot twists to keep you interested. Beth is a middle aged housewife that has spent her married life kowtowing to her husband and sacrificing herself to please her family. Everything changes when Beth finds herself in a high-risk pregnancy. Without giving anything away - Beth finds herself living in a small town in Canada where she can for once decide what makes her happy and what to do with her life. This family has secrets that soon come to light and once they do everyone becomes changed. I would read more by Peg Hubbard when a new book presents itself.
This was a good book and I loved the characters. As you journey through Beth's life you feel her joy, sadness, longings, friendships, struggles and betrayal. The twist at the end of the book was unexpected and even brought tears to my eyes. Very good ending. The part in the book with Grace as she is teaching Beth to meditate and feel the energy was a little slow and is why I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5. I loved Beth's family and how they rallied around her. I would recommend this book to friends.
