As a supporting character in the novel, Ye Leyao’s biggest dream is to save up money and flee with his family of antagonists when they hit rock bottom. if you like gossip, this webnovel is for you 🫵
oml what a ride!!!!! there is so much tea in here 😏🍵 i'm talking lying, cheating, stealing, spying, cheating on twins, cheating with your stepmom/dad (both happened); take your pick! there was a lot of cheating tho, and yeah sex sells ig, but it does get kinda formulaic.
the last 20% was a real tearjerker tho. looking at the title, i did NOT expect to be sniffling into a tissue at midnight in the dark, thanks 😀👍
the characters are amazinggg i love love love song zhehan and li siyuan, their clapbacks are legendary!!! 🙌
the romance is sweet, but the pacing was really strange 🥴 and there isn't enough depth. same for the characters - there are so many?!! so some of them aren't as well developed 😭

The first 2/3 of this is a laughfest then bam you're hit with a gut-wrenching, tear-jerking back story. Fortunately, everything ends happily so the book leaves you with a light, satisfied feeling.
Most of the plot revolves around Leyao who gains the ability to know future events, and his family who suddenly gain the ability to hear his thoughts. There isn't any plot, just them eavesdropping on his thoughts and since most of his thoughts revolve around the scandals and gossip of those around him, there is always a gleeful and schadenfreude entertainment to be had. All of them collectively are essentially just eating juicy melons for most of the story.
It is a little strange if you think about how little actual dialogue goes on between characters in this story, but the mental exchanges are so funny they leave you grinning and forgetting those small details despite the oddity.
One reason this half-hearted storyline works is because Leyao has zero malice. His mind is almost childlike in how he enjoys the entertainment and his family only love him more for it and enjoy with him in a similar manner.

English Title: After the Secrets of the Passerby Were Leaked, He Was Cherished by the Entire Family of Antagonists
What a crazy title for a novel! I think I half picked up this story out of curiosity for the name.
Our main character Ye Leyao transmigrated into a world that's the intersection of multiple novels. He's the adopted son of the prestigious Huo business family, and because he's read all the novels, he knows alllll the gossip. The twist here is that somehow everyone in the Huo family plus our ML Qin Yan, who's an accredited actor as well as the heir to another prominent business family, can hear his thoughts. So while Ye Leyao is eating melons and observing all the juicy drama happen around him by himself (or so he thinks), really he's sharing it with his family and Qin Yan. Through his knowledge, he also helps his family out of some serious binds.
There is a LOT of drama and gossip to be had. Some of it is found in other business families that the Huo family has ties to, some of it is with extended family, and a lot of it is with other celebrities. Ye Leyao is trying to make it as an actor himself, and one of the shows he does as a regular is called Let's Go Traveling Together. But in every single episode, there's a lot of gossip that gets revealed about at least a couple of the celebrity participants. As the online netizens commented, it should really be called Let's Eat Melons Together instead XP
Initially it was fun to read, but after a while, it definitely started feeling quite formulaic and I got a bit bored. Then the author ended the story in a weird direction by trying to explain Ye Leyao's origins and how he ended up transmigrating into this world, and that part I didn't like and ended up skimming through instead. The story ends with a bunch of extra chapters about the bajillion side couples, which I also skipped.
One thing that really confused me is that the Huo family and the ML are supposed to be the antagonists in this world. I don't see why. They're all super nice and normal characters and don't do any bad things like you would expect for antagonists. I actually completely forgot about this part of the novel title until the end, when the author brings it up as part of the explanation for the transmigration. To me this is a big question mark, especially since it's part of the novel title but never explained.
The pacing of the romance was also really weird. You see the relationship between the two main characters slowly get better, but it's not a focus of the story for the first 2/3 of the story. Then it suddenly ramps up super quickly, and they literally get together in front of the cameras while filming one of the episodes of the variety show.
Ye Leyao and the whole Huo family cracked me up with how much they love to follow the gossip. Ye Leyao reminded me of a hunting dog on the trail for new gossip, and the Huo family are the hunters following him eagerly looking for the next big scoop. Literally any time our MC found a name familiar, the whole family perks their ears up and starts listening to him very attentively. For the recording of the variety show, his parents even follow along for some of the episodes in the staff car so they can witness the drama in real time XP
The premise is very silly . Would any of this actually fly in the real world? Probably not. The thought that celebrities are willing to admit their dirty laundry or seriously have a falling out with each other in front of cameras is laughable, especially given what I've seen about the Chinese entertainment industry. But it's super entertaining in novel form.
Some of the scandals are really out there. It definitely felt like the author had a lot of fun making everything up. Here are some of the crazier examples:
Right off the bat, as soon as the story starts, the MC's second brother brings back his pregnant lover Su RUi. The brother is super in love with Su Rui, but little does he know that Su Rui is pregnant with another man's child and is only using the brother for money.
There's a family with 3 kids where none of the 3 kids are the dad's. Instead the mother has been sleeping around with various lovers and they're the actual fathers of her kids.
There's an actor who's married to one of his super fans, a woman who's supported him for many years financially and emotionally, but turns out he's gay and has cheated on her with multiple men, including a male sponsor
An artist is dating twin siblings, a brother and sister, simultaneously and gets confronted by both together at an art exhibit he's hosting.
The son and heir of another business family is sleeping with his stepmother. The dad has no clue and is super embarrassed when the truth comes out in front of everyone.

I thought it was just a silly story with a lot of gossip and face-slapping. I never thought that I would cry with this novel, I’m baffled, I did not see the plot going the way it went. I mean more than half of the story was about catching gossip so it got quite repetitive and then in the last 1/3 the story took an unexpected turn.
Ye Leyao and Qing Yao, really cute. They truly loved each other and Leyao spent 4 timelines just to be able to be with his hubby 😭. When they first got together it didn’t make much sense since it was quite sudden, like their interactions were not that intimate or romantic but you could still tell they enjoyed each other’s company but when you get to the last 1/3 of the story it makes more sense why the got together quickly. They subconsciously felt familiar and their feelings were there from the start
I genuinely loved the Huo family, even tho L1 was not related to them and wasn’t even a human, all the Huo’s loved him like their own, that’s Mama and Papa Huo’s child. It did sadden me how second brother, Huo Yan blamed himself so much that he lost his mind in one lifetime and even though he didn’t remember he still wanted to protect his brother.
As for the supporting characters, I liked all of them, they all had really unique personalities and stories which made them more easy to remember so props to the author for that. It would have been nice if we could have gone more in depth with them, they were quite superficial but had definite personalities so I guess it’s ok.
My only complaint is about the characters making fun and being mean to the girl, bulimia is a real and life threatening disorder and is not something people should take lightly, a lot of people struggle with it and have long term complications because of it. So I truly hated how the author treated this issue.

This is a really hateful novel...
Immediately after reading the synopsis/ description, I just LOL and and knew that I HAD to read this novel. My choice was definitely right. I loved the gossip/ melons that was aplenty in the novel. The description of MC and his family, as well as various side characters, rushing to the gossip scene reminded me of some Chinese Instagram reels where people were rushing to the arguing scene despite getting an IV drip or a haircut. The mental image for these scenes were hilarious.
I guess the novel was also fairly new as I noted that it mentioned a viral reel in 2023 - I just turned ~18~ this year / 我今年刚满十八岁.
While I was reading the novel, I was thinking that it's so suitable for readers like me who love gossip and face-slapping. After about 3/4 of the novel, I was thinking how the love between MC and ML was so sweet and innocent, which is rare for BL novels (as there's usually 3rd and 4th base). I thought the novel was rom-com. I WAS WRONG. The novel just did a 180° and changed into tragedy and I was crying quite a fair bit. MC and ML also had further progression in their love to a homerun.
The extras... I'm a little on the fence. At some point I'm thinking ugh, it's too length. At another, I'm thinking but I really like that some of the side couples were expanded/ introduced.
overall, this gossip, scandal, and face-slapping heavy novel, which is packed with humor and satisfactory punishments for antagonist, was really to my liking. There was quite a fair bit of fluff and sweetness between MC and ML, and between a few side couples. There's quite a lot of characters introduced with some only appearing for 3-4 chapters. It is noteworthy that the MC and his group of friends/ family are so OP that the antagonists are really weak and lame, only intended to be laughed at for their stupidity and useless schemes.

A fun, mostly-fluff easy read of a novel. The tone is light and comedic, the main character is a precious cinnamon roll, and the side characters are very entertaining. The romance is light on drama and has no false misunderstandings, very sweet, though towards the end there is a bit of heart-wrenching. The only thing that stops this novel from being a 4-star for me is that is sags in the middle -- there is a bit TOO much "let's show up to a random event because a big drama is occurring here that we have no need to help or hinder, only show up and watch". The various mini-dramas work better when Leyao is attempting to fix the "bad end" of someone he cares about, much less so when a new character is already fixing things themselves and the Huo family is just there to be entertained.
Rating: 3.5 stars, rounding down as always -- cute and fluffy, but drags a bit too long.

This was HILARIOUS. Like the rest of Ye Leyao's family, I was 100% on board with following him around to watch the gossip! The shocking reveals, the faceslaps, and the constant internal commentary made this such a fun read! I couldn't stop laughing or gasping with each event!
I'm a bit mixed at the plot twist near the end, because I was here for time, not expecting such sadness, but it was an overall great book if you want to eat melons lol.
I also liked how the extras tied up all of the other couples as well.

The story goes better than expected. The plot has a few twist near the end. Even the side characters make me fall for them. In low key, I could say Mc is an over powered character with his thoughts being heard by his family and ML. I give 5 stars for those gossipy stories inside the novel for alone, hee hee, since I’m also that type of gossip lover like Mc and his family :)

Hilarious. The drama is literally everywhere in the best way possible and the MC runs around to watch it with the whole family following. I spent so much time laughing I could have lived with another 100 chapters of the melon eating fun. The end gets somewhat serious, but it's handed well enough it comes across as a somewhat bittersweet changed to sweet sendoff.
