The son of a servant, Yan Bubu was destined from the moment he was born to serve Young Master Feng Chen for life.
Said young master, Feng Chen, was as cold and piercing as a bullet fired at absolute zero. The thick layer of ice that seemed to encase him kept everyone at a distance.
But Yan Bubu only had eyes for Feng Chen. He offered up his only toy. “Here, Big Brother.”
“Who’s your big brother?” Feng Chen looked down and asked coldly.
Yan Bubu sucked on his thumb and smiled. “Big Brother is so silly. Of course it’s you!”
Feng Chen didn’t like this sticky little follower, even if Yan Bubu looked at him like he was the sun and called him ‘big brother’ in the sweetest tone.
Yet when the world ended, 12 year old Feng Chen took the young Yan Bubu along as he made his escape.
Earthquakes. Floods. Extreme temperatures. Epidemics. Mutated flora and fauna.
Two children alone guarded an empty city, facing this brand new world and the dangers lurking around every corner together.
During those years where they struggled to survive, Feng Chen never once thought of abandoning Yan Bubu.
Yan Bubu was his everything.

This might be one of my favorite apocalypse danmei I've read so far. This is also a sentinel-guide world, which I rarely come across in a danmei but it's quite engaging, to be honest. It's also pretty interesting that the novel started right when the apocalypse happened and we closely follow the 6-year old MC and 12-year old ML trying to stay alive, with almost half the novel dedicated on these kids growing up and enduring every traumatic events happening in the midst of the apocalypse. It's fascinating the author really took their time with the MC and ML being kids and carefully established the relationship dynamic between the two. They are just children with no one to rely on but each other to survive and we can vividly feel that from the start.
I also loved that fact that I was really emotionally invested not only with the MC and ML, but the side characters as well. I was very concerned with their survival and felt devastated with every unfortunate situations befalling them. I also liked every relationship dynamic in this novel, especially among the MC, ML, their quantum beasts, their military dads and their friends. This novel is a roller coaster ride. There are times when my eyes are swollen from crying so much, but a few chapters later, I would be laughing so hard from the banter. I really would loved to read more from this author.
I couldn’t put this book down these past few days! It’s so addictive, thrilling and heartbreaking.
The story of Yan Bubu and Feng Chen will shred you to pieces whilst still leaving you wanting more.
It’s 237 chapters long but it feels like it’s so short. Every character is so interesting and you end up loving them all - the winners are undeniably Binunu and Sasaka though.
Binunu has to be the GREATEST quantum beast to ever exist.
This was also my first time reading a sentinel-guide origin story and I’m definitely keen to read more of this trope.
Totally recommend this novel for its captivating story. It’s well written and the author has a number of great stories under their belt to support them.
The plot isn't special but most characters have enough screen time and development, plot also doesn't have that many holes. Happy ending~
Translation is unfortunately not great because it was MTL. The extra chapters weren't translated too... but better than reading directly in Chinese, reading speed will be 5x slower...
