A public rejection ignited a nightmare, but it also led me to Ryker, the ruthless, possessive wolf leader Fate truly chose for me. His promise won’t ever be broken, forged by merging our two souls.
Now the real enemy emerges from the shadows wearing a trusted face, causing the sting of betrayal to run deeper than my new found family has ever known.
With each sunrise, new secrets tighten around us until breathing itself feels like war.
Time is running out, and to save the wolves and witches, and the man willing to tear the world apart for me, I have to dig up the full truth—no matter the cost.
Because Fate always collects …and this war may demand everything we have left.
Wicked Fate is a steamy, high-stakes shifter romance packed with: • fated mates & a morally-gray, “who-did-this-to-you” pack leader • a fierce heroine who never stays down • found-family bonds, deadly secrets, and edge-of-your-seat action
Come for the growls—stay for the ride-or-die love story.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.
I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes. I am so pleased that you stopped by my page! Please feel free to follow or contact me at the following pages -
In general, this series was pretty annoying. I didn’t enjoy the characters and got tired of the predictable pacing - argument, makeup, be attacked, argument, makeup, be attacked - over and over and over. With that being said I did finish all 3 books with a serious amount of speed reading. This may appeal to a true YA audience but for me it was a dud.
the story line is good, but i am tired of alpha Mates not being able to control their actions/reactions, always pissing on rheir mate to mark territory.. its annoying.then the mfc being treated incapable. and always yielding and forgiving
I devoured the first two books, and let me tell you, I devoured this one too. It was a lot of fun and adventurous. I loved getting a lot of things wrapped up, and I am excited for Briar's story.
Even though this one dealt with far more information and trying to get to the end quickly, it was fast-paced and had a couple spicy scenes and some romance. I would have loved even more banter and to slow some parts of the story down to really dive into the world. But even saying that, I had a good time reading it and would recommend the entire series. Book 1 was my favorite from the series.
It was extremely easy remembering what happened from the first two books with the intro chapters here, adding a little bit of recap in a clever way. I loved that because my memory is terrible.
This book was almost a DNF for me. The first book was good, second was meh, and this one was a struggle. There was almost no story building plot. Just violence, killing, arguing and sleeping. The few things that WERE story building were thrown in haphazardly and not fleshed out enough. The Fae heritage, the faked mate bond, what powers each witch actually has, Embers ability to sense shadows, why witch power "drowns" her to the point she cant move, Ashlyn's powers that saved them time and time again, the royals and what they actually MEAN to the shifters, besides apparently being their power source (again with no details) and many more. It was just thrown in and then written like the reader already had all the information and should have been able to keep up. Then there were parts that were thrown in for virtually no reason and could have been skipped. The doctor who was supposed to heal her, someone named Zoya appears out of nowhere for 2 pages and then disappears again with zero explanation who they are and more.
The utter lack of awareness in this book also killed me. In book one everyone was so cunning and thought things out. In this book, everything is done with ZERO planning. Examples? Raven is discovered to be a traitor, and what do they do? Start having a convo about other things and then act absolutely bewildered that she ran away. Or when they run onto the vampire property to rescue the witches. They literally have the "what do we do now" convo outside the enterance. NO conversation before that to plan what to do. Yes, lets wait til were discovered, are in the middle of enemy territory, injured and then just stand around and discuss what to do. Then go in circles "discovering" and "revealing" facts that had ALREADY been discovered and revealed.
Actually, the repetition of discoveries, betrayals, secrets and general convos was so exhausting. It screamed poor editing. Like they rewrote the story in some places and just forgot to exit out the other discovery, because each time, the characters were blown away.
WHERE did the strong, confident Alpha Ryker go in this book?? He is just gone. He is extremely jealous, protective, guilt ridden, lovesick, and plan stupid with decision making. Dont get me wrong, I looooove those things when written right, but this was like a 180 character change for him. I dunno if the author was trying to make it come across as he is softer and more caring now that he has a mate bond, but it didnt come off that way unfortunately. Same goes for Ember. In book one and some of two, she is this strong female Alpha who wont take any crap from anyone, is extremely protective of her sister and ready to do anything to survive. Then she suddenly starts second guessing herself every chance she possibly can, even though reality is smacking you in the face, says she never wanted to be an alpha, merges with Rykers pack without even talking to Briar, is basically scared of her own shadow, is attacked and hurt in ways she would have easily gotten out of in previous books. Also, how she immediately caves to whatever Ryker says and feels. This especially irked me with the "warm man". She constantly says she feels a bond similar to a pack bond with him, he seems familiar to her, she feels safe with him, acknowledges that hes protected them in battle before, and clearly wants to talk to you to fill in all the questions you have. Yet Rykers now ridiculous jealously makes him ignore all of that and say "im going to k*ll him", claim hers an enemy and wants to hurt her. So whats she do? Follow along and suddenly believe the same.
Also, I have literally ZERO care about Xander because he was talked about so little. Even though hes a main pack member. At one point I actually had to go back and find his name because i couldnt think of his name. The drama and angst in this book was so childish and overdramatic as well. For example- the tweaked mate bond, WHY are Sun/Ryker acting sour towards at Reid/Ember. They had nothing to do with it, but yes, lets keep up the hate for nothing. Gage makes a joke to lighten the mood and you threaten to take his head off.
Overall, I powered though this book because i have a problem with DNFing books, especially when its the last book of a series and im already half way through. Had i know it was going to be so different than book one and part of two, I probably wouldnt have even started the series. 13yr old.me who devoured YA books and ignored all plot holes, character changes, etc would have looooved this book though haha. I wont be reading Briar's story even though the premise sounds awesome. I dont want to be tricked again.
Briar had been found. The Shae pack had found her but kept her hidden for safety. They were together again, and all Ember wanted was to take her sister and run. It was Briar who stopped her, refusing to run anymore. Things continued to get worst as they sought out witches that might help with the cloaking spell. Ember and Ryker are at odds. She may have been drawn to Ryker bur Reid had been her mate. Then she discovers Ryker had allowed a witch to spell him, lock down his emotions in order to fight without compassion. This soon causes a rift between the few wolves left in the Grimstone pack and Ryker, their alpha. During a particularly overwhelming battle with the shadows the Shae and Blackwood packs join them, and the battle was turned when Cissi, the witch from the Blackwood pack, lends a hand. Somehow one shadow had been left behind. After uncloaking it, they realized it had been the vampires not wolves who had begun the war and devastated the Sinclair pack. Why? How were they able to cloak themselves and why did they smell life wolves. Raven’s betrayal blindsided them all but hit Kendrick the hardest. He thought they were mates. A new character has entered to fray, one with power, knowledge of Ember’s newfound magic and the reason behind the vampire wars. Who is he? What, if any, is his connection to Ember? As the battles continue there are other unexpected allies that will come forward. In this final tale of the “Betrayed Fate” trilogy the suspense, drama and mysteries are like threads that weave throughout the storyline, trusts have been broken, mistakes will litter the pages, romantic interludes will flow and ebb, misunderstandings and poor choices will lead to mistrust among them, while secrets continue to build up. Finally, will what is left of the packs be able to set aside their differences and mistrust long enough to target the enemy at the center, ending the war that rages around them before there are no wolves left to fight? Questions asked, with answers sought will wend slowly thought out the story. The drama and emotional upheaval kept me on my toes, since a number of times I was second guesting myself as to who to believe, whose plan would help or hinder, and the romance between Ryker and Ember broke my heart, watching them both struggle with insecurities. The characters are beautifully flawed. There isn’t much rest between action sequences so when they broke away from battle, I was lulled into thinking our heroes would get a break. All the way up to the end this was an edge of your seat book. In the final stretch, love is at the heart of this series, misguided, betrayed, redemption, true mates and the love that binds family and packs together. This is a story that had me up all night finishing it because I never seemed to find a good stopping point. I recommend this series for those who love paranormal romance, no easy answers, mystery and a lot of conflict. As always, I enjoyed Jen L Grey’s storytelling. I received an advanced readers copy for my opinion.
This trilogy was okay. I actually wonder if I'd like it more if I hadn't read Briar's story first. It's well written, had distinctive characters, but it did drag in parts.
The traitor reveal at the end of book 2 was actually a surprise—which I loved.
Ryker, was a character I thought I'd grow to love but that never happened. He's an impulsive man-baby with Alpha power. So, basically, he sucks. He yells and gets angry when questioned or orders are not followed and then even after they found out the deal with him he STILL kept trying to use the implanted spell/magic. He completely disregarded his pack's objections/aversion/hurt/anger to the fact he did it at all behind their backs but by continuing to use it, after everyone makes their thoughts and feeling known to him, because he thinks he knows better shows he's not a good friend or leader.
Honestly, the real hero is Adara. Without her, they wouldn't have come out on top and the villains would have won. Lastly, yeah, Raven helped direct to where they needed to go and then killed a critical character which officially ended the battle, all while fatally injured, but... for real? Too little too late. I don't feel bad she died. Sorry for that spoiler but it needed to be said because the scene is played out like she earned redemption and/or sympathy in the moment. F*** that noise. If I felt bad for anyone in the moment it's that Kendrick loved her and he was losing her.
So, fun, quick reads. Not too deep and only dragged slightly in the third book. If you can overlook a giant, and I mean colossal, man-baby then give this trilogy a read.
Jen L. Grey can always be counted on to deliver action packed stories with romances that really tug your heartstrings. Wicked Fate, the final book in the Rejected Fate trilogy, did not disappoint. The second book, Cursed Magic, left us with a stunning cliffhanger. This book picks up immediately after the shadows are revealed to be vampires, the pack's supposed allies. After this stunner, the hits just keep coming. There are so many plot twists you will get dizzy. Everything comes together into a grand finale that lasts the entire book. Mysteries are finally revealed, the known dead are found alive, and Ember and Briar's ancestors have some surprising secrets that finally come to light.
I could not put this book down. I was already hooked on the series, but this book made me fall even more in love with Ember, Ryker, and all the secondary characters. I loved all the chase scenes - how many cars got trashed? I lost count - and the political intrigue was riveting. So many factions came together in the big final battle! The ending was amazing and perfectly wrapped up all the unanswered questions. The end was bittersweet but very fulfilling. So many people had lost their lives needlessly in the war, but the book ended on a hopeful note for the future and set the stage for more stories of the pack members. I can't wait to see where Jen goes with Briar in the next book, Bonded to the Fallen Shadow King!
I read an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wicked Fate is the final book in Jen's Rejected Fate Trilogy, and it was freaking awesome! This is it! I've been riveted by the mystery that has expanded the entire series. Now I finally have the answers I've been looking for. There was one big reveal right after another. While I had my guesses, I never really expected this. Jen really did throw me with this one.
The plot was compelling. Betrayal, suspense, romance, big reveals—what more could I have asked for? I was deeply invested in this series from the start. I loved the characters and desperately wanted to know where it all led. So it's no surprise that I was hanging on to every word. I never could have guessed the reason behind everything. Like, what? There were plenty more twists besides that one that kept my jaw dropped. This book had tons of action that kept my heart pumping. Talk about chaos. This series did pack an emotional punch, but everything ended well enough. Wicked Fate was fantastic and a good ending to the series. This was a great series and made me even more excited for Jen's next series, which is connected to this universe. Ember's little sister Briar is getting her own series, and I can't wait.
Ember, Ryker, and the others are back and let me say you won't want to miss this. This one picks up where the last one left off and let me say this one does not disappoint. Ember has learned some truths about the vampires and the one they thought they could has betrayed them. With each page a new twist pops up, another battle to be fought, but when they learn the truth about the why they come up with a plan to defeat the enemy. As things come to head and she learns about herself and what she is, things become more complicated and when the final battle comes to ahead who will survive, and who will be left standing. What a read, this book gives it all. Emotions, action-packed, heartbreaking, a few laughs, but a whole lot of intense moments that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very end. This author gives her all and will keep you coming back for more. Can't wait to what she has next.
A great conclusion to this trilogy! Ember and Ryker’s story comes to an end. With the identity of those really behind the shadows, the betrayal cuts deep. Now, they have to figure out a way to stop their enemies for good. Filled with twists and turns, there are more secrets than we could have imagined! Like Ember. Turns out there is a type of magic in her that she had no idea about. And the one to the deliver the news is a big surprise! And with that delivery comes the truth to why everything has happened in the first place. We also get the truth about the true mate bonds for Ember. There were a lot of revelations in this story for sure! Filled with action and romance and lots of supernatural magic, this was a great way to end Ember and Ryker’s story. They have come so far and they deserve that well earned happy ending.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love pretty much everything Jen L. Grey writes, so it's no surprise I loved this too!
Wicked Fate is a great ending to the Rejected Fate trilogy. All of those pesky unanswered questions get resolved, there's a ton of action and of course drama and suspense.
This book gets a little more brutal as the battle between the "shadows" our heroes comes to several dramatic fight scenes, with the shifters and allies coming together to face the enemy once and for all. (Sorry to be vague, I don't want to give any spoilers!)
As Ryker and Ember's bond grows deeper, their chemistry sizzles and I loved every moment of it. There's just something about a sexy alpha shifter that does it for me!
And the truth behind Ember's lineage? Yeah, you're gonna love it! And it leads perfectly into the next series. I can't wait!
Wicked Fate is the conclusion to Ryker and Embers story.
This trilogy of love, loss, found family, fated mates, witches, enemies only one Ember can see, and seriously so much more. I could go on but I won’t bc you have to read it!
Jen has a way of sucking you into a world, when reading her books. There is no pausing once started it’s just not an option, especially in this one!
Ryker and Embers find new challenges in Wicked Fates, but also find answers to questions that have been haunting them throughout the first two books. New characters are introduced adding to even more nail biting plot twists.
Seriously get ready for a powerful conclusion and a surprise ending. I’m not going to lie I wish there was more! Jen’s books always seem to go so fast. I think that’s what makes her and an incredible author.
This book is a thrilling, fast-paced adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The writing is beautifully crafted, blending slow-building romance with unexpected spicy moments that add depth to the characters' relationships. The plot is filled with intriguing secrets and betrayals, with twists and turns that continually surprised me—there were definitely revelations I didn’t see coming!
I have absolutely loved this entire series, and this installment was particularly eye-opening as Ember and Ryker uncovered so many hidden truths. However, my favorite character has to be Gage. His sense of humor is such a refreshing contrast to the intense drama and adds a unique charm to the story. Overall, this book is an exhilarating ride that masterfully balances action, romance, and humor.
I honestly don’t understand all the five-star reviews for this series. Books two and three felt repetitive and dragged. The same pattern kept happening: people getting attacked, then recovering, then attacked again, then recovering again. It got boring and hard to read because there wasn’t any real progression.
The premise had so much potential, but it wasn’t well developed. The plot never really went anywhere, and by the time we reached the end it felt rushed and poorly thought through. The answers just fell into the characters’ laps, and the missions that were supposed to drive the story ended up feeling pointless.
Overall, it was a real disappointment after such a promising start.
I read this book on a whim not knowing too much what it was about. This will be a review of the whole series, I read them all in one sitting. Overall I felt like this series should have been one book edited down a bit so it wouldn't be too long. It felt like it was broken into 3 as a money grab and not because the story required it
I didn't love it. I feel the author failed to make me connect with any of the characters. They all felt kind of flat to me overall. I wasn't invested in them. It felt like the author killed off a bunch of people just for the shock value.
Overall, it was an ok story. It started out strong which I liked, but it could have easily been one book. There were a few things mentioned early on in the book that were not quite wrapped up, or brought to in the end, and reltionships/people introduced, that could have been explored more. As for the MMC and MFC, oof, I started to get frustrated with the stubbornness and repetition of their arguments. Supporting characters I really liked and wanted to know more of them. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Worldbuilding⭐️⭐️⭐️ Characters⭐️⭐️ Spice🔥🔥
I really do love a story/series with plenty of twists and turns and unexpected plot elements. This series did not disappoint. From tragic betrayals to fated mate discovery it had it all! The growth of the relationship between Ryker and Ember was satisfying to say the least when they realize that no matter what love does overcome all. Definitely a good read!
Okay, this series has the action love in a book!! I will not give anything away! What is a love story with action, adventure and mystery!!!!
This series should be on a must read series this spring and summer. I had so much going on with evenrs going on in my home all weekend. I still made time to read this. I didn't want to out it down so I would take "reading breaks". 😆 So good!
I finished this whole series in 4-5 days! I read Bonded to the Fallen Shadow King first and as soon as I started this series, I knew it was a prequel! Everything I googled said it wasn’t but then I get to the end and boom, it’s right there haha. I loved the series and how Ember was constantly finding out that she had more strength than she thought she did! I can’t wait for more of Briar’s story!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I forgot that book 3 was available, but I needed to read this to get closure. I was not a fan of the Vampire Queen, and it turns out I was right to fight against her.
Many people died as a result of this vampire’s hubris. Her ending is appropriate…
The fae connection was interesting and I was happy that it made itself known in interesting ways.
Briar has her story next, but frankly I’m tired of the death. I won’t be reading anymore…
The first book wasn’t bad, I held thru the last two books to see if it would turn things around & finish the storyline. A lot of repetition, miscommunication-get attacked- finally talk- make up again. And I read a lot of romantasy that’s not an uncommon plot line haha but in this series it felt draining.
This obviously appeals to some people if you look at other ratings, but this writing/author is not for me. I honestly wanted to DNF but I made it thru to get the ending.
For as much as I loved these books and these characters I kind of felt like this ending didn't do these characters justice. So much happens in the last 50 pages that our only resolution for these characters is 3 pages?! THREE. These characters didn't KISS til book 2 and you're going to tell me all that slow burn and I only get 3 pages post war?! I liked the story liked the twist but I wanted more of a glimpse into their life post war.
Truly disappointing… conflict… no resolution… conflict… stupid dramatic argument … suppose to be a strong alpha that now is submitting for love ? Come on!
The ending is so anti climatic… the start to the follow up series at end of ! NOPE HARD PASS
I wanted to much more development of these characters and we were left short handed.
The plot is good, the storey line has the potential but the author just could not bring it together.
Wicked Fate by Jen L. Grey delivers all the paranormal goodness: a fierce heroine, a growly, possessive wolf alpha hi, Ryker, and betrayal that hurts so good. With sizzling chemistry and twists that keep you gasping, this wolf pack romance is pure, can't-put-it-down magic.
If you love your love stories dark, intense, and dripping with tension, add this to your TBR ASAP!
4.5⭐️ Fantastic end to the series. Full of action, betrayal, twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I couldn’t put this down. More secrets arise before everything is revealed, unexpected allies are made and an epic final battle, I loved every minute of this. I couldn’t have ask for a better ending for this series.
ALL good things must come to an END. IT was a rollercoaster full of emotions, heartbreak, and betrayal. A conclusion to this trilogy. I think Jen left some open door questions on purpose for the next spinoff series with the sister this time. I loved this trilogy. My only pet Peeve was how the villain died. IT DESERVED BETTER!!! a slow painful death if you asked me. It was to fast and to easy.
Yeah that was not really worth it. MMC was incredibly annoying about touching her or being jealous of the fae. FMC started getting annoying with that too. It was don’t touch to the max and not in a good way. The writing again not great. So many cliff hanger chapters as a transition to the next one. I did like Raven and Briar.
Jen L Grey has done it again! This trilogy will keep you up and submerged in the story right up to the end. This is a must read. The main characters are strong, intelligent and won't let anything stop them. I'm hoping there will be other books to go along with the rest of the pack.
