Finding Forgiveness: Holding On to Hope and Grace

Rate this book
In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves caught up in the chaos of daily life, neglecting the most important relationship we’ll ever have – the one with ourselves, but when we follow in the footsteps of our master, Jesus, His mercy and grace fill our families, our neighbors, our faith communities, and our workplaces. The truth is, it’s hard to forgive. Past hurts and pain make it challenging to release some of our emotions. Living a life that reflects Christ-like relationships isn’t always easy and doesn’t happen overnight. Finding forgiveness in ourselves and those around us can be challenging. As Christians, we are commanded to forgive others. We’ve all met these people, their personality has a magnetic quality. After an interaction with them, you walk away feeling lighter. We wonder if the difference between them and the difference in ourselves is that they live with a driven purpose, something that we all wish to have in life.

Forgiveness can begin once we admit our failures. If we cannot do that much, we can neither give nor receive forgiveness. We cannot receive forgiveness without acknowledging our need for it, and we cannot extend forgiveness without admitting that because of our imperfect condition, we have no right to withhold forgiveness from anyone else. Forgiveness is non-negotiable for Christians; it is the essence of our faith. There’s no denying that forgiveness requires us to give up attitudes and actions that are important to us. Forgiveness is an act of obedience, not a tool of manipulation. It is a way of cleaning up the grudges and resentments that damage us. Finding Forgiveness. Holding On to Hope and Grace looks into the heart of forgiveness, trust, reconciliation, and how forgiving can transform our lives. We forgive by faith, out of obedience. Since forgiveness goes against our nature, we must forgive by faith, whether we feel like it or not. We must trust God to do the work that needs to be done in us so that our forgiveness will be complete.
