Hi, I'm Hallie!
I like, and want, to do a lot of things, so I create lots of very different characters and live vicariously through them.
I don't like having to stop what I'm reading and look up word definitions or pronunciations- I feel like it ruins the reading experience. Which is why, you'll likely notice, my books are easy to breeze through- because I truly believe that reading should be enjoyable, fun, and relaxing!

Have fun visiting Olympia College and meeting my chaotic little friends! We hope you'll stick around to see where Book 2 in The Ambrosia Project takes them!

SPOILER ALERT: you have been warned

The book started out slow for me, and it wasn't until around 45-50% that I really got invested. The characters were all really different, and I can't be the only one who really hates Zach. The mythos part really doesn't get brought up until the very end of the book, which was kind of sad because that's what really drew me in. The idea of making it a reality TV show with these characters was really smart and I liked that. Amber, Damon, Zach, HJ, Kai, and Dawn were all pretty great characters and their backstories and reasons for doing the show were both similar and different to their fellow cast members but with their own spins on it.

However, Damon, being 24-25 and Amber's little sister being 15-16 and what happened on the pages around 70% and brought up onwards was pretty nasty. I understand that Hades abducted Persephone to the underworld when she was in her late teens-early twenties, but the fact that Damon (Hades) even let the idea of talking to Fleur (Persephone) at any capacity, much less thinking romantic thoughts about her, was pretty disturbing to read.

That being said, you've been warned about some of the content in the book. Read at your own risk.

4.5 🌟

Before I begin I want to thank the author, Hallie Parker, for giving me this ARC.

I really liked this one. I honestly had no idea what was going on in the beginning because I thought it would really be focused on the whole gods part of it. I was theorizing in my notes who could be which Greek god. Then came the whole reality TV show aspect, and I was obsessed. The writing is one of my favorite things about this. The combination of written-out scenes and transcripts of the interviews was such an interesting thing to do, and I loved it. I really liked all the foreboding elements and the little details. The characters feel so realistic.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this and I'll definitely read the next book because I have to know how it will continue!

This was a super fun read! I thought the concept was fascinating and unique. I was immediately intrigued after reading the "Incoming Students Letter" at the very beginning of the book. The story and characters pulled me in and I wanted to know what would happen next.

There are 6 main characters (Zach, Hanna June, Kai, Amber, Damon and Dawn), which seems like a lot but it was so easy to follow each characters' story and not get anyone mixed up. All 6 have been accepted into a program at Olympia College in South Carolina. They will star in a reality TV series and in exchange, the studio pays for their college tuition and other fees. The show "The Olympians" showcases different students as they experience life while attending the college. They have to complete interviews, and then have cameras follow them around. They know they've been accepted into the program, but they don't know why they were specifically chosen, and this is the mystery that starts to unfold.

Damon and Kai were my favourite characters. Damon is the anti-social grouch who makes it known that he doesn't want to be there. Kai is the chill, hopeless romantic who consistently embarrasses himself.

I really enjoyed this book and will definitely keep reading the series. I won't have to wait long as the second book in the Ambrosia Project series is set to be released in the Spring!

thank you to the author and sunnybabepr for an ARC!!

this is part of the Ambrosia Project Series.

the beginning portion of the book was definitely fun to read, especially since it was the incoming students' letter.

I really like how it was set up. interviews with 6 students who are at the Olympia College in South Carolina for a reality TV show. in order to have their tuition paid, they must be b interviewed just about daily for the reality tv show. there are 6 characters who we read about in the book: Zach, Hanna June (HJ), Kai, Amber, Damon, and Dawn. you slowly learn more and more about each character, and the storyline and plot definitely pick up more toward the end. I loved how easy it was to follow along. you were able to distinguish which chapter was for which character.

while attending the college, they will be thrown in complete interviews and have their daily lives recorded quite often. it does seem like a lot now the characters get or are getting very annoyed about that.
the reasons they were chosen are jot discussed which confuses them.

I do plan on reading the others in the series as well. this was such an interesting book!

Set in a university setting 6 individuals are brought together under the premise of involvement in a tv program for scholarship in college.

These individuals are unaware of what ties them to each other at first, these facts unravel as the book goes on.

I'll admit new adult fiction is a genre i haven't read for some time and took some getting used to. After i got my bearings i was thrown into the world and multiple POV of 6 young adults in college doing young adult things with fade to black scenes, but everything is not quite what is seems. Mixing in a couple references to ancient greece and Greek Mythology. The Clandestine Dawning of the Gods has left me wanting to follow the story almost immediately. It has drawn me in and now i must wait for the next installment of this series coming later this year.

This book is definitely targeted to young adult readers and late teens, in saying that adults will also enjoy this as much as i have!

I really really liked this book!!

The whole aspect of college students who participate in a tv show following their daily lives unknowingly knowing that they are Greek gods intrigued me so much!

The interview snippets in this book engrossed me in this book even more! Page after page I couldn’t put the book down. I just wanted to keep on reading! There are so many secrets in this book that I can’t wait to see uncovered in the next book!

I absolutely loved reading about these characters and loved seeing bits and pieces that hinted at which Greek gods each of them were. I personally think that Hallie Parker portrayed each character perfectly! My favourite character definitely is Damon, his demeanor made me giggle quite a bit.😂

Also just beware that there is cheating in this book. As a person who doesn’t like the trope at all I just had to put it out there. I completely understand why it has to be in this book because it showcases a certain character better and also gives more context to which Greek god the person is. Although the trope is in this book it didn’t ruin the whole book for me. Another thing I have to mention is the age gap between Damon and Fleur, although they aren’t even nearly romantically involved I just wish Fleur was made a bit older to better their dynamic and the story.

I enjoyed this book so much and was totally engrossed in it. I would absolutely recommend reading this book if you like reading about the Greek gods (especially in a newer setting in a way I haven’t seen done before)!🤭

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book! I need it asap!!

Thank you so much to the author and Sunny Babe PR for and e-arc of this book 🫶

The Clandestine Dawning of the Gods by Hallie Parker is an introduction to a contemporary mythology-fantasy series. This is book 1 in The Ambrosia Project series.

The book follows six college students. They are all awarded scholarships to star in a reality TV show. The TV show showcases them as they experience life while attending Olympia College. But the question is why them?

This was an interesting read. About every second chapter is written in interview format which I loved. I see a few people say it takes you out of the story but I didn't feel that way. It is a good introduction to the characters and it was my favourite part of the story. We also get to see all six characters POV's. These chapters alternates with the interviews. My least favourite character is Zach, no surprise there. I can relate the most to Amber. Damon is definitely a favourite and I really want to know what his deal is. Although the age thing that pop's up is a bit cringe. Kai and Dawn I don’t know enough about yet. It feels like their story and character still needs to develop. I am excited to learn more about Hanna June as her story has only begone. There is definitely more behind the face she is putting on for the world.

I am interested to see where the story goes and who knows what. The epilogue was intriguing although I am completely confused. There is not any mythology in the book except for one mention but I am looking forward to continuing the series.

Some of the trope are Sunshine X Grumpy BFF's, Estranged Half Brothers, Greek Gods & Goddesses, Collage Campus Setting and Realty TV stars.

Thank you Sunny Babe PR and Hallie Parker for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review .

really interesting Greek Olympian Gods retelling

Okay so this was absolutely fantastic. I love the whole premise of the reality show following these characters around even though it took me a long time to like HJ at all and Zach is actually the absolute worst. It was fun trying to figure out which Olympian each character was representing, some were obvious but others I’m still not sure about. Damon was my favorite character until the thing with Fleur started and now I’m mostly repulsed by him. Just read your trigger warnings first and that’s all I’m gonna say about that. Amber needs to like seriously rethink her priorities and Kai definitely deserves better than the way she treats him. Dawn is almost too patient, like it kind of very slightly annoyed me how patient she is and how she *always* knows the right things to say or do. Like she’s too perfect but not in an obnoxiously perky way like HJ. The twist in the epilogue had me so mad and I really can’t wait to read book two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

The Clandestine Dawning of the Gods by Hallie Parker is a wild, reality-TV-style take on Greek mythology, and it definitely delivers on the drama. Think Keeping Up with the Kardashians meets Jersey Shore, but with a mythological twist. It’s messy, chaotic, and kind of addicting—once you start, it’s hard to look away.

The storytelling style was a bit confusing at times, but it actually worked well given the reality show format. The characters are larger-than-life, the dynamics are explosive, and while there were a few minor plot holes, they didn’t take away too much from the entertainment factor.

That said, one aspect that really didn’t sit right with me was the flirtation between Damon (a 25-year-old grad student) and Amber’s 15/16-year-old adoptive sister. Nothing happened, but the implications were uncomfortable.

Overall, if you love messy, dramatic stories with a binge-worthy quality, this one might be worth checking out!

Big thanks to Sunny Babe PR and Hallie Parker for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this book and its six main characters. I'm a lover of all things Greek mythology, so the mix with reality TV and college students hooked me quickly! I think the main characters are similar enough to their Greek counterparts without being overly stereotypical, which, in my opinion, can make or break a loose retelling of Greek gods.

This next part does contain a slight spoiler:
I don't know how I feel about where the Damon and Fleur storyline seems to be going. With Damon obviously being Hades and Amber being who I can only assume is Demeter, that would make Fleur Persephone, since Amber is practically Fleur's mother in a way. So with Hades and Persephone being married in Greek mythology, and Fleur being underage in the book and lowk flirting with Damon, it threw me off. But obviously, this is all just speculation and assumption.

But overall, I do plan on reading the next book upon its release!

I absolutely ate this up.

As a fan of both Reality TV & Greek Mythology this book found its target audience!!

I had such a fun time pinning each character to the god they represented, from chapter one!

I loved that this was a Greek Myth riff set in modern day. & That there was an 'unknown' aspect to it. The characters are relatable to young adults, and to fans of Greek Myth. It shows their struggle as a college student and with familial struggles.

I really enjoyed the switch up between novel style writing and interview style. It kept my brain engaged throughout the whole book.

If you're not familiar with Greek Mythology the hints might not be as obvious, but for me each new aspect of the character's life introduced was a wonderful "Easter egg".

I am extremely curious where the rest of the series is going!!

Hallie Parker has 100% sucked me into this world and I'm sooooo excited to keep learning more about the "reality stars".

this was an interesting book. it felt very predictable but at the same time i couldn’t really understand what was going on.

i came from an insta reel about the characters being gods but not realizing so i immediately guessed who was with greek god and goddess.

i did like learning about the six main characters and their lives and how he all reacted with being reality stars. it was pretty interesting with them being different ages and college students with different backgrounds.

i really hate zack (i think he’s zeus). i do like hj(definitely hera) but i mainly just feel bad for her. i love kai (poseidon) and amber (demeter) and dawn (only one im not sure of) damon (hades) kinda gives me a weird vibe, and his friendship with fleur (persephone) really weird.

overall it was pretty ok cause i do enjoy greek mythology. i liked the college aspect of it all. some moments were pretty funny and i like the friendship they have with each other.

Thanks Sunny Babe PR for this arc!

TCDotG is a fresh new take on Greek mythology, following 6 college students on a reality show, following their everyday lives as they go about their academic careers at Olympia College.

This was a pretty fun read, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. If you are delving into mythology-based stories, this is an easy one to get into and it's pretty easy to tell who is supposed to be who, with some names and parallels to their pantheon equivalent are pretty on the nose (not a bad thing)!

Overall, the structure of the book does take a little getting used to, alternating between different character POVs and smaller chapters in the structure of a script to show off a conversation in an interview. Once you're in a flow, it gets easier to follow.

If you are looking for something a little out of the norm, this may just be the book for you!

ARC Review ✨️

♡Modern day take on Greek Mythology♡

This story turned out a lot better than I expected it to honestly. The author managed to combine Greek mythology with reality TV and somehow made it work. We got 6 POVs, and yet it was still super easy to follow along.

Our 6 main characters received a letter that they got accepted to Olympia College. They're going to star in a reality TV show. They understand the catch with the reality show, but what they don't understand yet is why they were specifically chosen.

As the story unfolds, we begin to see just why each individual was selected, and it was really enjoyable to see it all play out. I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come next for our characters!

Tropes:
✨️Greek gods
✨️Small town
✨️College
✨️Greek mythology mixed with reality TV

Thanks so much to the author and Sunny Babe PR for the ARC!

A very interesting story that has the Greek Gods reincarnated(?) as college students attending Olympia University. Each of the six MCs are recruited by Kronos to be part of a scholarship program that requires them to be on a reality tv show documenting their college life. They all have baggage and they slowly come to accept one another and form some friendships along the way.
The students are unaware of who they are, but as the book progresses they start to find out odd things about Kronos and their situation.

The book is definitely the first in a series and ends without finding out an awful lot - except the fact that four new students are joining the show. I found it quite enjoyable with chapters including interviews as well as ones being told from each of the MCs point of views. I'm excited to find out what happens next!

This book was totally different to what I expected and honestly it isn’t a book I would usually enjoy, but I read it in two days because I was really sucked in.
The premise is really interesting and all of the characters are so different, I enjoyed trying to figure out the Greek gods they were meant to be as I find Greek mythology interesting.
I felt like this was almost like the first few episodes of a tv series, where you are just learning about the characters, you have just started to like or dislike people, you have just started to root for your favourites and that the plot has just started to develop.
I am definitely going to read the next book to see how the story develops, I want to know if my guesses about which gods people were are correct.
Overall this was an interesting book, it isn’t like anything I have ever read before and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Thank you to Sunny Babe PR for gifting me this ARC!!!

Six college students are signed up for a reality TV Show around their daily lives all for their college scholarship. None of them know why they have been chosen.
With six main Characters it feels like there’s a lot of people but it’s actually easy reading and not hard to follow at all.

I absolutely loved the writing style and story telling it worked so well with the TV show aspect of it. My favourite character was definitely Damon I love me a grumpy man.

The cliffhanger ending has me begging for more honestly I’m so excited to see where Hallie takes the next book.
Definitely worth checking out if you like Greek mythology but want a different kind of re-telling it’s chaotic and dramatic but so worth the read 🖤

Thank you SunnybabrPr for the ARC of this book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️(3.5/5 stars.)

liked it, but I feel like it needed something. I really like the concept, but almost felt like there was too much dialogue/interviews. I understand that was part of the story, but it felt like the plot wasn't the focus.
I absolutely loved the characters and really was invested in their lives. I know in the beginning it outlines that the reader knows these students are gods, but I had a hard time wrapping my mind around it. Maybe I don’t know much about Greek mythology, but I almost feel like a list of gods and their traits in the beginning would be helpful, so we can try to connect those gods. Like I got Zeus right away, but the rest I was a little confused by.

The book definitely picked up as it went on but I found the dialogue/interview dragged. I’ll probably still read the rest of the series because as I said I really liked the characters. But I just wanted more.

I actually want this to be a three and a half star read. Unfortunately the app won't let me. This was an interesting read the structure is different from my normal reads The author does an interesting job integrating six POVs and establishing character development I do have to say it was not my cup of tea but I can see why I'm at so many people have enjoyed it I prefer more plot driven novels that are fast-paced and twisty. This novel was an easy and chill read for me I can see it being very a successful.

"I knew Olympia was where I was meant to be."

I would absolutely watch this TV show!
I loved getting to know all of the characters (and maybe hating one of them 👀) so much. The drama was perfect, the undercurrent of mystery had me hooked, and the way they all interacted was just brilliant.

"For what it's worth, I would've loved you so hard." killed me, I cried!

That ending?? I can't wait for the next book, I have so many questions!

Greek mythology meets reality TV meets college campus.

Like your basic reality TV with cast interviews, there are chapters set up in interview style. Also, like your basic reality TV show, there is ruckus and mayhem. The closest explanation without giving too much away would be Jersey Shore but the Greek god edition.

This writing style was not expected but definitely kept my attention.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

this book was a fascinating and interesting read. the whole concept of six gods and goddesses going to college not knowing they are gods was great. seeing the the little hints and details of each character showing their goddesses and gods traits was fun to depict through out the book. and then to add on top they are on a reality tv show. the book adds a twist with including interview style which i’ve come to love. definitely excited to see the rest of this series play out.

This book was an interesting read, it took me a while to get into the book but after page 200 of the book, you start getting hooked by the characters and events unfolding.

Book ends on a cliffhanger and there seems to be a lot of details that need clarification, I hope we get more info and insight into the characters.

Hallie Parker's "The Clandestine Dawning of the Gods" cleverly blends modern college life with Greek mythology. Six students unknowingly embody gods in a reality TV show. Engaging characters and subtle clues about their divine origins create intrigue. The narrative builds suspense, promising deeper secrets and making it a compelling start to "The Ambrosia Project."
