This book concludes Brielle and Leo's story and has a happily ever after.
This has been a great series, one that I will definitely reread. Well written the addictive storyline is intense and several times I was on the edge of my seat biting my nails. The incredible world building is so descriptive that you can easily visualise yourself there and the characters Brielle and Leo are just awesome. Action packed, the battle of good versus evil is hard going and heartbreaking, there’s change and tough choices to be made but the author does wrap things up nicely and ends this with a hea. All in all a fantastic YA urban fantasy read!
Note: I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for honest review.
It's a five for me! It is well written and with addictive plot and storylines. Let me tell you I sacrifices my sleep to finish both of the first two books and this ARC in one night! Such a page turner and I just can't wait to see what happened next. Well written world building that doesn't feel like too much info dumping and badass female MC with good character development!
Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot to say on the final instalment of the series.
I found that I lost more interest with each book, this one felt very long to me and didn’t hold as much grab as the last one. I felt like they were fighting the same villain (which they were) throughout the whole series and it got boring.
It was completely predictable that she became a demon. It basically served nothing. Only to get her phoenix back but there was no story about her so it felt pointless. I still like Leo is a good character, by far the most flushed out, but in this book he got a little annoying.
Honestly the end really annoyed me. I know it’s meant to finalise the end but if anything, it left so much open that there needs to be another book/novella to close it.
Overall, not my favourite, I’m a little disappointed but some books aren’t for everyone. Glad I finished the series though.

This was such a great book and a great wrap up of the series. Throughout the book Perez maintains perspective from Leo and Brielle. The way she does it helps to maintain continuity and gives the reader an overall understanding of the big picture. There were several times throughout the book my heart was in my stomach because of how intense some of the story line is. But that just goes to show how Perez draws her readers in and truly brings her characters to life. The intimacy between Leo and Brielle has kept me on edge throughout the series. I was excited to see them *finally* be able to consummate their relationship! It never felt cheapened, rather it was so sweet because they have come so far as individuals and a couple. So to see them able to enjoy the physical aspect of their relationship made my heart happy! I loved how Perez continued to build on the relationships of characters introduced earlier in the series and was able to demonstrate that people are not meant to do life alone. Rather, everyone needs someone in their corner whether they are ready to admit it or not. I felt as though Brielle truly grew through out the three books. She came to understand that what she previously perceived as being weak was just her trying to prove herself. She realized that to truly be strong she needed to embrace her flaws and allow the people around her to build her up and support her when she needed it the most. This is aptly named “The Lost Phoenix” in respect to Brielle’s Phoenix that seems to have gone MIA. But she absolutely comes through in the end when Brielle needs her the most.

The Lost Phoenix is the third and final book in The Nightcaster Chronicles by R.L. Perez and the direct sequel to The Fallen Demon.
With Leo taken to the underworld by Lilith, Brielle's only goal is to save him from Lilith. To do this she will have to travel to hell and reconnect with Nix, but this is not without consequences. As a witch, it's impossible to enter Hell, so Brielle makes a sweeping decision that requires Jorge's help. What are the consequences for Brielle? Will she be able to free Leo from Lilith's hands?
Meanwhile, Leo is trapped in the underworld and under Lilith's command. He is tasked with torturing disobedient souls, and in doing so he meets old acquaintances. Lilith's only goal is to break Leo and have him for herself. But is Leo actually happy in hell? How will the torture affect his mental state? Will he ever be able to get out of the underworld again?
Just like in the first book The Cursed Witch Brielle plays the biggest part in the story, but despite Leo is in the underworld he also has an important role in this story. In the book's description, R.L. Perez warns for strong sexual content and sexual abuse. Although the story does not have extensive sex scenes, this is still regularly mentioned in the story. However, this is certainly not the most common factor in the story and does not disturb reading.
While in the previous parts you kept getting to know new characters, this was not the case in The Lost Phoenix. However, several characters from the previous make their appearance again in this book. As Brielle seemed to be more in control of her powers, she makes a choice that will change all of this. This allows Brielle to develop even further on a magical level. In this part, Leo is growing in this area too, but maybe not in the way you would expect it to be.
As in the previous books, this book is full of adventure, mystery and love. What I really liked is that in this story you get to know Lilith better. And although she may be a very evil person, I could also empathize with her in this story. It is very nice that you get a look at the other side at the end of the series, this makes that the story feels complete to me.
R.L. Perez completely pulled me into the story, and I couldn't stop reading until the book was finished. This is really a story that grabs hold of you and won't let go. Personally, this book is my absolute favorite in the series and I cannot believe that this is already the last part. I would love to read more about Leo and Brielle and secretly hope to meet them again in a next book by R.L. Perez. I am very curious about what the future will bring and I will definitely keep an eye on her newsletter.
Keep in mind this is the third book in a series and the books need to be read in order for the plot to make sense. The Lost Phoenix picks up a few months after the second book ends, with Leo now bound to evil Lilith and Brielle desperate to do anything to save Leo from the fate he calmly walked into.
So while this is very interesting in regards to the complicated world building and magic, I was expecting a little more in the romance department (which is completely my fault mind you- this is not a paranormal romance like I keep trying to push it into). This is the third book in the series, the first two two Leo was having sex with his blood donor and just when I think there will be a Leo-Brielle romantic interlude in the middle of the second book, it was ripped out from beneath my (and their) feet. And then here is the third book and Leo is sleeping with Lilith and killing innocent women, all the while Brielle is being super angsty and murdery to get back to Leo. WTF? This is not the HEA I was looking for from this series, instead this was another book full of angst and heartbreak and it made me kinda sad that the characters were totally different people than I have come to root for and expect. Keep in mind that the book does end with a real HEA but it was not what I hoped for, but I am sure others will love how everything wrapped up.
Overall this was a very interesting series, full of action, hard choices, magical creatures, world building, time travel, and the battle between good and evil. If you like complicated characters and no clear line between what is right and what needs to happen, then I highly recommend this series for you to jump into.
Yikes I'm terrible at describing things but here's what I thought, this book really was explosive. I absolutely loved it, but at the same time it completely crushed me. Without saying too much because I don't want to spoil anything, but that ending was extremely unexpected. That's the last thing I ever thought would happen, this series has been exciting and intense from beginning to end. The characters are incredibly written that I found it hard to put this down, everyone had something unique and interesting to add to the story. The storyline itself was strongly written, it was brutal and filled with so much action that it never felt like I got bored. Every chapter pulled me into this world deeper, I grew attatched to many of the characters. Leo was my favourite, but Nyx was definitely my second favourite. Both of these characters had such an intriguing background, I never wanted the book to end. The narrator did an amazing job of bringing emotion to this story, making it come to life in my head. This was the first series I bought in ebook, it got me into R.L Perez's writing. Her style is nothing short of spectacular, her characters have sass and attitude. Her female leads are far from helpless, but once in a while need saving. This is what I love most, as well as the switching perspectives between main characters. This series is a must listen to or read for anyone who loves magic, vampire's, werewolves and twists you'll never see coming. It has it all and so much more.
Narrator did a good job! She fit the characters well, and the recording had a good quality. A good listen!
Interesting story; I dreaded Leo’s POV chapters because of his huge, idiotic choice in the last book, but I enjoyed the read. Entertaining overall premise with some cool magical ideas, and I like that Brielle kicks booty. She’s doing everything she can to save Leo from yucky Lilith; unfortunately, she doesn’t exactly think things through before acting, so that puts her in more dangerous situations. I was right to dread Leo’s chapters; Leo being forced to do really gross things with and for Lilith, was not something enjoyable to read. I felt Leo resigned himself too easily, but I did like the parts without Lilith involved. I do like the connection between Leo and Brielle; except for how blasé Brielle was about everything Leo went through, but they do have a sweet chemistry. I would’ve liked a bit more action and more to the ending, but I enjoyed this whole series. A fun, entertaining premise overall!
THE FINAL BOOK! Ugh... After book 2's cliffhanger, I was spent. I could not wait for book 3 to come out. When the author reached out to me and told me book 3 was available I jumped on the opportunity to read it! Then life hit and I was just able to finish it last night. Ooooh, goodness am I glad I did.
Torment, anguish, heartbreak, betrayal, all things this book makes you feel. I was screaming in anger one moment then crying the next. The two MC definitely go through a lot throughout this series... Will it be enough?
Please check out the Lost Phoenix released TODAY! I highly suggest checking out my review of The Cursed Witch (book 1) and reading this series. You won't regret it. 🧡
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This final story in Brielle and Leo's arc really took me by surprise. I thought I had the resolution pegged, but Perez swooped in with a masterful twist that made this trilogy go from good to GREAT! I absolutely loved the ending, although I'm also a little sad for what happened with Nyx. All in all, this story manages to bring out a fantastic bitter-sweet ending to what turned out to be quite an epic dark paranormal adventure. While the romance is still front and center, the greater world politics, which started coming out more strongly in the previous volume, really took the limelight in this volume, creating a really interesting balancing act between the major plot points.
The characters' choices really resonated for me and I absolutely love how Brielle and Leo face off all their difficulties together, becoming stronger in the process.
Though the series starts out as YA I would call this book New Adult because of a sex scene. While it isn't horribly graphic or anything, I would recommend it for a little older audience.
What a great ending to the series. Brielle and Leo go through so much in this book it is really heartbreaking. They both find that they have to break in order to become the best version of themselves; the one that will help the other survive. They are both very selfless and sacrifice much for each other. I was also pleased to see Nix playing a larger role in this installment. Though I loved the ending, I am also left slightly unsatisfied with it. I would like to see a short follow up on them or something in the future.
Oh my! There are so many twists and turns throughout this book. It had me glued to it as I had to see what happens. Brielle has grown so much throughout this series and by the time we get to this book we see how strong and caring she is. I love the personalities of her and Leo. They match so perfectly. They were stunningly developed and have that spark that is felt as you read. There is humor at times that add that little bit of relief. You can feel their pain and anguish, their happiness and love. The series is addictive and I am so greatly pleased that I read this series. It has you on the edge of your seat. The ending was mind blowing as I didn’t expect it to end the way it did. This is an absolute must read and it doesn’t disappoint.
I enjoyed the plot, but I'm giving it 3 stars mostly because of the main female character, Brielle. I really liked her in the first book- she was fearless and always fought for what was right- but in this one she was selfish and whiny. I get that she's still a teenager, but the way she treated her family because of the secrets they kept (even though all she does is keep secrets) and her single-minded focus on getting her sort of boyfriend back made me really dislike her. Plus, I didn't think she had much of a role in the final battle, considering she's one of the central protagonists. Leo deserved better.
This book had me hooked from the start, I needed to know how it was going to end and was caught up in every plot twist that arose. Some parts broke my heart, some parts brought me life and overall I would recommend the series to YA fantasy lovers.
Brielle grew as a character, shedding off her younger personality traits and fulling growing into a strong, capable warrior while strengthening all the relationships in her life.
This series has sacrifice, love, death and everything needed to make a great story come to life.
In The Lost Phoenix (Nightcaster Chronicles#3) by R.L. Perez, the final book of the series,Brielle is determined to rescue the man she loves, Leo, from the Underworld. Leo is trapped because because of a bargain made with Lilith. In the end Brielle and Leo must choose between survival.. and defeating their worst enemy. I received this book as part of a boxset from BookFunnel and definitely recommend these books, individually or through the boxset, for 16+. There may be some triggers for some. These books are available on Amazon.
In book three Leo & Brielle must battle the evil Lilith who is not only keeping them apart but also threatens Brielle’s phoenix & the mortal world. This book was fast paced with plenty of action. As with the other books in the series, I found myself confused with the “rules” or realities of this fantasy world & would have benefited from more explanations or background information. Otherwise a great ending to the Nightcaster series. This was an imaginative supernatural thriller great for YA
I was so happy we got to see Izzy more in this one, I love her character. I’m not sure why but I wasn’t a fan of Brielle this time. Her character felt different and it made some moments hard to get into. This might sound silly but I love Lilith’s craziness in the end, the way she described her face was just wow but still also great. The ending is super sweet and I thought it was just a great way to end the series.
Real enjoyed the story. It contains sex scenes, some violence but has no course language. The narrator is great, each character their own unique voice, adding to the story. I would listen to Sample before getting book. As people‘s tastes very. I enjoyed the story, and hoping the story doesn’t end there. Hoping for new adventures.
Similarly, as with book 2, I found myself wishing this was longer, that we spent some more time with the characters and the plot. I felt like we didn't get to know anyone further and the action was just boom boom boom. I overall liked the series, I really liked the concept and the story.
Well, I certainly was NOT expecting the story to end how it did! I’m amazed!! The development of the relationship between Brielle and Leo is so well done but the development of ‘something’ between Jorge and Izzy is lovely too. Yet again a well written, exciting story.
While Brielle and Leo are separated in this one their attempts to reunite have devastating consequences. Each of them go through many transformations. Story is steady paced. A bit of a twist for the ending.
This is a great series! I loved reading this series and I really would like to see it continue. I don't like that she made Leo a mortal and that Brielle is a vampire. It made me sad.
Overall the series was good but the repetitiveness of the spells starting with the same 2 lines really started to become a hindrance to me enjoying the story itself
This binge-worthy series had me up really late. It was very fast paced and atmospheric. Perez is a talented author, and I definitely hope she writes more books! I loved getting to know Leo and Brielle and the other characters. Personally,I am really glad I read this series. If you enjoy Vampires and Shapeshifters definitely give this series a try!***I received a free copy for a honesty review.***
