Meg Ripley is an author of steamy shifter romances. A Seattle native who’s relocated to New England, she can often be found whipping up her next tale curled up in a local coffee house with a cappuccino and her laptop.
Hot and steamy collection of shifter romances, exploring love, resilience, connection, rediscovery, family, and second chances. Each tale features strong, mature characters finding their second chance at life and love, woven into a world of shifters, proving that it’s never too late to find your place or your person. Bear's Midlife Midwife:
Story: Liz, a strong and independent woman, is living her life after a divorce and starting a new career path as a midwife and Reiki healer. One night, Tyler, a bear shifter and the beta of his clan, urgently seeks her help when his sister-in-law faces complications during childbirth. Liz assists and witnesses the birth of a bear cub instead of a human baby, discovering the secret of the shapeshifting bear people. The clan wants to keep their existence hidden, and some members become a threat to Liz's life. Tyler, feeling responsible for Liz's safety, becomes her bodyguard and they grow closer while living together under the same roof. However, Tyler pushes her away, carrying the weight of his past and resisting their bond. Despite their attraction and the undeniable connection between them, they both struggle to accept their fate and embark on a relationship. As danger looms, Tyler must protect Liz from those who want to silence her, and Liz must learn to open her heart and overcome the challenges they face together.
Audio: The pacing of the narrator, D.C. Cole, was fine, good annunciation, though sometimes words seemed to go soft at the end. The narrator did a good job with voicing different male voices, but I rarely am happy when a male narrator is used to voice female characters' dialogue and this was no exception.
Bear's Midlife Baby:
Story: Jenna (h45) moves to a new town after a breakup to start a new life and open her own business. On New Year's Eve, she meets Chase (H35) and they have a passionate night together, but the next morning, Jenna leaves before Chase returns, assuming he's not interested in her. To her surprise, Jenna discovers that she's pregnant, and even more shockingly, she learns that Chase is a bear shifter. When she meets Chase again for a business meeting, she mistakenly believes he's involved with another woman and decides to keep her pregnancy a secret. Meanwhile, Chase is determined to pursue a relationship with Jenna and build his dream brewery, but his ex keeps interfering. Misunderstandings and insecurities threaten to keep them apart, and Jenna worries about the pregnancy and Chase being a shifter. Lovely OWYM shifter, fated mates, secret baby romance with plenty of heat and relationship angst.
Audio: The pacing of the narrator was fine, good annunciation, though sometimes words seemed to go soft at times. The narrator, D.C. Cole, did a good job with voicing different male voices, but I prefer when a female narrator is used to voice female characters' dialogue, and this was no exception.
Bear's Midlife Matchmaker:
Story: Newly divorced and navigating life as an empty nester, Carrie (h) is ready for a fresh start and she's swapped the bustle of city life for the charm of small-town Carlton, Oregon. Audio: Narrator D.C. Cole does a great job with Dean and other male voices, and a good job with Rebecca's voice - I personally prefer a female narrator is used to voice female voices. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.
Bear's Midlife Psychic:
Story: Kelly (h) never expected her quiet life as a psychic medium to lead to anything extraordinary. But when firefighter and single father, to teenagers Chloe and Parker, Hugh (H) seeks her help to uncover the truth about a deadly fire, Kelly’s world is turned upside down. Narration: ★★★★ ½ 4.5/5 Overall: ★★★★ 4/5 Spice Rating: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ ½ 3.5/5
Okay, let’s start with the vibe — fated mates, shifters, midlife heroines who know exactly who they are (or are figuring it out on their own terms), and lots of second chances? YES PLEASE. This series grabbed me right away with its charm, sass, and finally some grown-up romance that doesn’t revolve around twenty-somethings in fake coffee shops. Also: bear shifters. A lot of bear shifters. And one spicy dragon.
This 11-book collection follows a cast of fiercely independent, over-forty heroines who stumble into the world of shifters, fate, and unexpected love. Each book features a different couple (yay, no cliffhangers!) with cozy small-town vibes, supernatural surprises, and that beloved fated-mates connection. You’ll meet midwives, witches, psychics, matchmakers, and more. Some are diving back into dating post-divorce, others find themselves pregnant after a one-night stand, and all of them are trying to balance their very real lives with their very new magical ones.
Standout Book: Cursed Midlife Bear One Night Stand + Surprise Pregnancy + a multigenerational curse = SO much emotional weight and tension. This one just hits different. The stakes feel higher, the romance is sweeter (and hotter), and the supernatural twist is so well done. Absolutely 5 stars for this one.
D.C. Cole? Honestly, crushed it. His range between male and female characters was surprisingly solid, and he has a way of delivering emotional beats that actually land. His voice is warm, clear, and feels age-appropriate for the storylines.
Would I Recommend It? Absolutely—especially if you’re tired of stories where women “peak” in their 20s. These stories feel like cozy paranormal romance with a shot of whiskey. Binge-worthy, comforting, with just enough spice to make things interesting. If you like shifter romance and midlife empowerment? Download this one.

For book 1, Bear's Midlife Midwife, these are my thoughts: Tyler stays away from his home mostly because he feels guilty. Liz is changing herself and her whole life and ready to be happy and content. She doesn't realize that helping Tyler will change her life. I like both main characters but as usual they each earn a thump or two to their heads for being stubborn and uncommunicative. I like the family. The writing style is good. I prefer more than one voice on my audiobooks but did not let this take away from my enjoyment. I've listened to the audio twice and read the story once. I truly enjoy this series. It has great world building.
Bear's Midlife Baby: I like that Jenna, the older woman, was strong and independent. I like that she was ambitious and hardworking. I like that Chase wanted more out of his life. Their attraction was immediate and intense. The miscommunication was dragged out, but when it came out, the timing felt right. The angst is mid level. The steam is nicely done. The spice is fairly low level. The story is interesting. 4.5 Stars
Bear's Midlife Matchmaker: I love that Carrie has moved to a new city and decided to start over but keeping her existing business and expanding it with clients from the new town. She is brave. She is strong. She becomes a risk taker. It is realistic that she has anxious episodes thinking she is an imposter in her career. I love how Pax knows he wants to settle down. I feel the emotion in his uncertainty about finding the right person. I love his connection to his clan and to his skills both as a logger and as a skilled carpenter or wood worker. I love how he and Carrie connect immediately. They suffer from that age old affliction of does he? Does she? I love their journey. The writing style is easy and comforting. The audio version is soothing. This book and its audio is well done all the way around.

Narration Review- the narrator has a really nice acting style and does both male and female voices very well. Definitely clear and easy to understand. Story review- this is a solid collection and very much worth spending a credit on. There are eleven books in which the main romantic characters are both over the age of forty and are fated mates. All of the books are very good, with characters who are easy to relate to (especially if, like me, you are over forty, and believe me, it’s wonderful to have representation). The book that really stands out to me is CURSED MIDLIFE BEAR. That is a five-star book with the tropes of One Night Stand and Surprise Pregnancy. The characters must figure out how to break a multi-generational curse to save their baby’s future. I liked that one especially, but I enjoyed all of the books in this collection.

This is an awesome collection of midlife sexy shifter romances with strong female leads and the alpha males who love them. Meg Ripley constructs wonderful tales of love, family, hardships and triumphs. Each of the stories are standalone and don’t need to be read/listened to in any particular order. The narrator D.C. Cole as always does an excellent job voicing the different characters and bringing them to life. I have read/listened to a lot of books by this author and highly recommend reading her books.

Fated Over Forty follows a clan of bear shifters that find their mates later in life. There's plenty of drama, danger, action, adventure, sexy bear shifters, strong sassy women, steam fated mates, and HEA. The audiobook for this collection is done very well and is narrated by D.C. Cole. I love listening to his soothing voice as he narrates this audiobook.

I enjoyed this series a lot! I have gotten into "midlife" stories lately since I can identify with them more. I love a good second chance story. Each book has the right amount of sweetness with a tasty bit of spice to go with it. It has all of the elements to a good story, heat between lovers, a touch of danger and happy endings. I look forward to reading more from Meg Ripley!
Terrible! The writing style is very pg-13, very few spice scenes, and written from a weird pov, like 3rd person. Grammatical and factual errors. I made it to the end of book 2 before I DNF'D this series. I appreciate the authors attempt to write for a mature audience, but the writing style needs a LOT of improvement! Very short stories tho if you like that. each book seems to be under 20 chapters.
First i love that fact that the MC in these stories are above the age of 40. Hearing stories where life doesn't end because they reached 40 and are forgotten lol. warmed my heart. Then on top of that you add the fantasy aspect with shifters and witches OMG yes this was so entertaining.

Not only are these books cohesive within the world building but they are great standalone books. Each book though in the series and within its created world but each has a level of detachment so the reader isn't completely lost if they go out of order or cherry pick them. I recommend Meg's books all the time.

I received a copy of the audiobook upon leaving an honest review.
There are a lot of books but I must say that if shifters and fated mates is your jam, then this is a home run! It’s easy going, sweet stories of nice MCs.
There are definitely varied scores above the line but overall it’s a solid 4!
Fated over Forty: The Complete Series Collection, if you are going to listen to this collection give yourself about 10 days as it is about 54 hours long. I enjoyed listening to the eleven different stories in this great collection. They are all worth listening to as each couple couple in their 40's work towards their happy ending. I enjoyed listening to D.C. Cole narrate these stories.
I’ve enjoyed reading this series but having it come to life in audio and all in one place, it’s perfect. Each story keeps you interested and the narrator does an amazing job of giving each character their own voice.
This series is da bomb! once I started reading, I couldn't stop. The guys were all handsome in their own way. The women were diverse and strong in their own right.
Being over forty lends some drama when finding a mate. Some surprises in small packages complicate the process. Quite a collection related to the Thompson clan
