People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
I've read other books of this series and really liked them, but this one just didn't work for me. The story could have been interesting, but I was put off by the characters.
Diane was awkward. Here we have this 26 year old virgin, who we keep on hearing is super shy (I didn't believe it based on her actions), kind of pushover and gorgeous as a Victoria Secret Model (but, of course she doesn't know that even after modeling lingerie in a catwalk and being offered modeling contracts). She was such a book character! Not one of her conversations ringed real!
The author did a poor job with the guys. To the point as sometimes being confused if I was reading Drake's or Lucas' POV, they didn't seem to have different personalities. I didn't feel the connection between them. One of the brothers wasn't too sure about whether he should be with her, but suddenly in another awkward conversation she tells them that she is a virgin and the next thing it comes from his mouth is:
“You’re going to be ours forever. My life truly begins now with you, Diane.”
Wow, I didn't know a 35 year old could lose his mind when hearing the word virginity. It was laughable!
yep, little inconsistencies were scattered throughout and the increased use of the "C*nt" word is rather detracting to the overall story. Still very much enjoyed the plot.
This started out similar to Sage’s Story in that the story began in Pearl with a woman already living there. It seemed that we got more background this time on the men so I was able to understand them better and connect more with all the characters and not just Diane. I have to wonder if we will ever know Diane’s sisters’ story, that could be interesting too even if it does mean going back in time a bit.
The bedroom scenes were smokin hot and it was funny reading about the men’s reactions to Diane coming out of her shell. Especially when you could clearly see how painful Diane’s shyness was for her. In fact, I was surprised at the ended of the book because I honestly thought that Diane’s fear would get the best of her but I am glad she got to fight back, bet her men are too 🙂
We don’t really get to touch base with the other citizens of Pearl that we are familiar with but then I could see that they didn’t fit into the story line either so maybe in her book about Pearl, Texas.
Thank you, Dixie Lynn Dwyer for writing such an awesome series, where the women get to fight back against their fears, and those that mean to hurt them and for bringing light to those issues that confront a lot of women in this day and age.
It was meh. The story is the same formula as the others. One shy virgin. Who is very beautiful. Who has a traumatic past with three. Three gorgeous hot experienced, very experienced men. Lucas at first was very standoffish. And very how would I put it. Hard. Maybe. But just what a way to go from one extreme to the other tottally different extreme. Where he is very very much in love and all that it entails. Just here the story was actually off. I know I'm ranting here and there but this book well this story was just the same.
Ms. Dwyer knows how to write a book. Like Diane, I am kind of a hermit with poor self-esteem. At times, I doubt other people when they say good things about me. I so got this character. I see myself there.....I just wish I had three studs to make me feel good about myself as Mark, Drake and Luke did for Diane. I thought it was cute that they would buy lingerie for her before they made their attentions known. And the message in the clock is swoon worthy. 5 Hearts!
The best part of this story were the guys. I really liked the previous stories in the series but this one is almost like it was written by someone else. Diane annoyed the living crap out of me. The story was completely unbelievable and ridiculous and irritating that she was so wishy washy, didn't want to give up anything but expected them to drop their lives for her. And the lying to them. Ugh! She didn't deserve their time
I'm so conflicted about this one. Ugh! I couldn't wait to read sexy Agent Mark Santos story. Yes, he remained drool-worthy. It was Diane I couldn't get past. Lordt!!!! I understand we all have our insecurities, but she took it too a whole other level. She was so annoying with it. However, we got our HEA so I'm happy...I suppose.
I really enjoyed reading Diane's story. In my opinion it is one of Ms. Dwyer's better stories, but then, I do not think any of her books are bad. I think there are a lot of women who can relate to Diane's shyness and insecurity, and would love for three dominant handsome men sweep them off their feet. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
