I really found this to be a very boring book. I ended up skipping through pages to see if it would get any better but it didn't. I had issues with the story line as well. True that Jun catfished Tianna by using someone else's name and photo. However, also true that all of the conversations they had by which she made a connection with him were really from and about him. Unbelievable to me that she would choose to pick up and fly half way around the world to meet the guy, when he never gave her any indication that he wanted her to visit. She also made no provisions for herself as to a place to stay. How does anyone just assume they can show up on someone else's doorstep unannounced and that person will provide them with accommodations for an unspecified period of time. She may have been hoping for a romantic connection, but seriously this is foolishness beyond permission for a supposedly mature adult single female. Also since this is a Provence in the PRC I'm pretty sure they have stringent regulations about non nationals entering the country. Then she has the nerve to be upset with him about the name and photo, but still decides to stay with his family and accept their hospitality, while supposedly being furious with him. Why didn't she just leave, forget the guy and stay in a hotel? She ended up telling his family anyway so it's not like she was really concerned about hurting their feelings.
Tianna’s reaction was overbearing. She kept talking about the connection that her and Li Wei had and how it was due to their conversation. But it seems to me that Jun was right, she only liked Li Wei’s face. Which she made clear at he anger towards Jun because he didn’t have the face she expected. If it was the connection she liked why should the face matter after he explained the first time. It felt like the 70% of the book was about her being upset at this one fact as everything else about what she liked about him hadn’t change. Also, it was rather repetitive and when it came to the love making I was left disappointed as well.
I truly enjoyed the story. However, author Jade Moon needs a new editor. I would be interested to provide my services, but I have no professional credentials. Just proofreading courses at my local college.
I wish the author Jade Moon the best of luck with finding a proper or educated proofreading for future projects.
Side note: I do plan on continuing the series collection.
I literally just watched “Love Hard” starring Jimmy O. Yang. This story seems to have all the same elements. Even the Asian guy catfishing and surprise pop up visit. Since I’d already watched the movie there was no reason to finish the book.
This is my first book by Jade Moon, and it was a good read. 👍 I say to my fellow romance readers read this book for yourself and determine how you feel about it.
