Introductory statistics courses are notorious for their ability to confound their students. Seemingly out of nowhere, students are bombarded with formulas and equations that appear to have no rhyme or reason.
In this guide, I have attempted to distill some of the most important of these and provide full justification for their use. This guide is not a substitute for a full-fledged statistics textbook but it may make these textbooks more usable. Incorporating select images from the open source textbook Open Intro Statistics, I have provided a week by week summary of the topics for the standard introductory statistics course.
This guide is based on my ten years' experience of teaching statistics at the Community College of Vermont, I hope it will make courses in statistics, basic knowledge of which is essential to successfully participating in our information age, less of an ordeal.
