The beginning of a new life …and the end of another.
When a man’s body is discovered at a wedding in rural Lincolnshire, the celebrations come to a premature end. The day, for better or for worse, would be a day nobody would ever forget.
Detective Inspector George Larson is enjoying the sea air with his wife when the call comes through. Grace, his childhood sweetheart, has been reduced to little more than a smiling shell by a terrible mental disease. And as he leaves her at the care home to attend the crime scene, forty years of memories play like old reruns in his mind.
The victim, Ryan Eva is wearing a suit, yet nobody recognises him. And with eighty-five witnesses to process, family secrets to uncover, and the media to satiate, George finds himself at the beginning of the hardest investigation of his career. But when a second body is discovered two days later, the stakes begin to rise. Four suspects, each with an alibi for at least one of the murders give George cause for suspecting a conspiracy.
How deep do the family secrets run? Is history repeating itself? And will the bride and groom live happily ever after? Until Death Do Us Part is the third book in the bestselling Deadly Wolds crime series from the million-selling author, Jack Cartwright, the author of the Wild Fens Mystery series, and the DCI Cook Mysteries.
Fans of Jack Cartwright also enjoy books by J.M. Dalgliesh, Simon McCleave, LJ Ross, Val McDermid, and Ann Cleeves.
I enjoyed this British crime thriller because it demonstrated the difficulties behind catching a killer and those thought processes. The characters suited the plot and the plot had plenty of twists, turns and surprises.
There were some touching moments between George and Grace as well as beautiful descriptions of the Wolds.
A body is found during a wedding...
This was a well-written story about people and their behaviour in the midst of murder. It was engaging, disturbing and worth reading.
This is one of those stories that you want to go on and on. It shows the difficulties police officers have piecing together the clues to bring the right person or persons to justice. There are also some lovely scenes between George and Grace that will thaw even the coldest heart. Beautiful and moving. Get those tissues out. The best book of this series thus far. Beyond entertaining - it's great! Very Highly Recommended.
George and his team coming together, although for some reason I can't take to Ivy. Plenty of twists and turns as I've come to expect from this author, and I cannot always figure out who the real baddie is, as I can with some other authors. The object of the story, so says "Jessica Fletcher"!! Love the descriptions of my home county, another brilliant episode, can't wait for the next one.
George and Ivy are like a father daughter relationship however, they don’t always see eye to eye on everything. A wedding is interrupted by a body is found and the bride is distraught. It turns out to be her brother who has just been let out of prison after an assault. With George saying they have to prove people innocent they find the killer. Another interesting read.
Well that was an emotional rush. You can't start to read this if you have things that need doing, because you just won't be able to put this book down once started. Yet again the way that Jack Cartwright writes as you gripped in anticipation of what's coming next. Book 3 in the Deadly Wolds Murder Mysteries is equally as captivating as the first 2. Now, just need to pop the kettle on before getting into the next in the series.
Continuing detective stories of George and Ivy and there merry band which has now been increased by three. Although it fairly zipped along, at times the unorthodox methods by George threw up more questions than answers but it turned out good in the end. Great shame about Grace!! Thoroughly recommend the whole series and looking forward to the next book.
Loved this story. So many clues to unravel as DI George Larson and his team try to figure out who committed murder at a wedding. PC's Byrne and Campbell are finally becoming good detectives. The poignancy of the decline of George's wife Grace from dementia tugs at the heart strings. An altogether intriguing story.
I didn't care for this book. I thought I had read one of the books earlier from this series and I may have and just not noted it in my goodreads account. So... 2.5 stars for me and no intention to read more from this series Striking out quite a bit lately from Kindle Unlimited and won't renew.
Very good addition to the series...a dead body is found in a pond at a wedding venue. Sorting through 80 guests will take time and DI Larson needs more hands on deck. Enter 2 new members of the team. Then a man who saw the dead mans room being broken into is found dead. Who is murdering these men and why. Also a very emotional ending...no spoilers
So many mistakes within the text, I find it really annoying and I have to say I'm not getting any finder of the main characters. Have already purchased the next but that will be the last unless there is a vast improvement.
Full of characters and multiple twists and terms, multiple motives, opportunities and pressures to succeed and all the while the central characters battle with their own faults and demons! An excellent read.
George Larsen at his irascible best! A great storyline blending with a team that has been appointed with trainees weho may - or may not - be suitable. A suitable poignant underlying story continues throughout the book. Looking forward to No. 4. Julian Tremayne, Cromer, Norfolk
Great read and so well written! I don’t do spoilers so I will recommend this series highly! A quick note to Jack Cartwright you absolutely broke me in the last pages !
Struggled through to chapter 25. George and Ivy are such boring characters. Did not enjoy any of this series, gave up half way through the 2nd book. Will not be reading any more.
