Elena M. Reyes is the epitome of a Floridian and if she could live in her beloved flip-flops, she would.

As a small child, she was always intrigued by all forms of art: whether it was dancing to island rhythms, or painting with any medium she could get her hands on. Her passion for reading over the years has amassed her with hours of pleasure, but it wasn't until she stumbled upon fanfiction that her thirst to write overtook her world.

She’s a short and sassy Latina with an adorable pup, a kiddo that keeps her on her toes, and a husband who claims she’ll cause him to go bald prematurely. Lol

Oh Janice, Janice, Janice...

This book is a spiral into madness. Janice is the epitome of crazy in this short, deliciously twisted novella from the Marked Series by Elena M. Reyes.

If you are a fan of this series then you have been waiting for the lovely Elena Reyes to allow us a peek into the psychosis of Janice; the ever determined, obsessed, intoxicating and maniacal ex-lover of Talan and supreme threat to Maya his new love. Janice is a ticking time bomb. And in this novel we get an intimate view into her deranged way of life. But we get something else as well. We are introduced to a Janice that is vulnerable, fearful and lonely. A Janice that despite the fascinating train wreck that she is you can't help but feel a sliver of sympathy for. You can't help but want to fix her, help her, and put the pieces of her shattered heart back together.

Reyes makes the reader both cower in fear and reach out in compassion when it comes to Janice. She provides the reader with a painful story that allows them to connect with Janice in a way that was absent in the first two books of the series. We saw her as a monster, a mean spirited individual full of spite and jealously. But in this book we see a frightened and exposed woman trying to hold on to the tethers of what at one time filled her heart with happiness. We see someone who is defenseless against their own mental anguish; and it is that confession of her soul that will leave your mind reeling with mixed emotions and yearning for more of this character's story. Great addition to the Marked series that both compliments and intensifies the story.

5 broken stars! Tragic, beautiful and amazing

Wow, we finally delve into the inner workings of Janice. And what a ride it is…...she’s a serious piece of work, but I loved getting into her mind!! I’m in love with this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!! I’m pretty sure I’m obsessed with this serious, if I can be completely honest!!!

5 Crazy-ass stars!
**Please note you MUST read Marking Him, and Marking Her before you read this or you will have NO idea what is going on.**
If you have already read them, then you already know what a crazy fuck Janice is! She is the girl you love to hate, and finally you get to hear a bit of the story in her POV. Let me tell you, getting inside Janice's head is one hell of a trip. I have yet to experience anything like it before in all the books that I have read in my lifetime. With that being said, you finally get to understand a bit as to why she is the way she is, and I actually began to *feel* for her character, instead of just wanting to punch her in her face like I did in the past. She's damaged in so many ways, and you are able to feel her pain. She is unstable, but at the same time unwilling to get the help she so desperately needs. Her character is far more complex than you could ever have imagined she would be, and Elena M. Reyes did an impeccable job in showing all sides of this character and her story.

Janice's craziness runs much deeper than we all thought, and she is taking things to the extreme. Her love for Talan is consuming every fiber of her being, and is downright controlling her. She blames Maya for Talan not returning her feelings of love and is prepared to get him back in her life by any means necessary. In her mind, the only way to do this is rid the world of Maya.

The introduction of some new characters really throws a twist into this series, and I cannot wait to see where things go from here. Just when you begin to learn about the new characters…*BAM* The End. I was left with even more questions than answers but the time I finished reading, and I am left NEEDING more!

Well played Ms. Reyes… well played!

Janice's Story
If you haven't read the first two books in this series, Marking Her (Marked Series #1) and Marking Him (Marked Series #2) I would highly recommend that you do do before diving into Scars.
This is a short read, but not lacking because of it. In this book we finally get a look into the crazy that is Janice, the psycho ex of Talan's and very real threat to Maya. When I realized that this story was about Janice I wasn't sure how to feel, having met her in the previous installments I wanted to throw some punches at her myself, though at the same time I was curious to see if this book would explain more about who Janice is and why she is the way she is. This story shows the unstable, crazy mind of a woman who clearly has lost touch with reality. She is obsessed with Talan and can't accept the fact that he has moved on, which only serves to fuel her madness, jealousy and rage, hellbent on getting the revenge that she craves and believes is justly hers to exact. We do learn about Janice's sad past, and get a real look into why she has abandonment issues, having been abandoned by everyone she ever loved. This includes Talan. We learn about the woman behind the desperation and craziness and are even able to sympathize with her to a degree. It definitely left me with mixed emotions. This story is most certainly a journey of emotions, questions, and finally some answers. I would say more but don't want to leave any spoilers. This is an awesome addition to the Marked series, and I can't wait to find out what is to come.

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

What can I say? Batshit is clearly the new black this season. I loved Marking Her and Marking Him which brought us Talan, Maya and of course Janice. We have only ever had a tiny peek into what she's really like, but never did I expect her to be this crazy!

The woman takes psychotic adds her own unique twist to it and then serves it up while it's all piping hot.

Janice loves Talan, but of course he doesn't feel the same for her and there is nothing more dangerous than a woman scorned. She wants him and isn't afraid to go out and get him, but there is just one teeny tiny problem standing between her and her goal, the love of his life, Maya.

Janice cannot comprehend how Talan doesn't want her, and she thinks that by removing Maya on a permanent basis she will take her place in both his heart and bed.

We also get to see why Janice is like this, and I do feel for her, she is clearly hurting and feels that no one wants her as she is so badly damaged. There is a small glimmer of light that shines brightly in her life but all too quickly is extinguished, sending her on a catastrophic course of events that no one could stop and that I don't think even she saw things ending the way it did.

What does please me is that this wasn't rushed and crammed into one book and we are obviously going to see the rest of this story unfolds in another book.

A great read that had me eager to turn the pages and find out what was going to happen next.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book does have strong language and sexual scenes.

This was another good book by Elena. This book allowed us to see more of the psyche of Janice, the person you come to hate in the mark series. Although the book was a decent book and went along with the Marked Series, it was about a person that I don't like.

Janice thinks she is in love with Talan. She has had to deal with loss of her twin sister and the abandonment of her parents. This trial has broken something within her. She is only dealing with life day by day, looking for a way out, when she meets Talan for the first time. He is like a breath of fresh air for her. He makes her laugh for the first time in years. She falls completely head over heels for him. When he doesn't reciprocate the feelings, Janice falls deeper into the depression that is her life. Talan is seeing Maya. He is completely in love with her. Janice feels that if Maya was out of the picture, Talan would love her instead. She becomes set on getting rid of Maya. Does she follow through with her plans?

Although I don't like Janice, I am curious to see what happens next with her and the other characters of the marked series. I cant wait for the next book to come out so I can see where Elena takes it next.

Janice from the Marking Her and Marking Him series is back in this short read by Elena Reyes. She has felt abandoned, thrown away, and invisible by the people in her life. But now Janice has turned that love in pure hatred and seeks to destroy those who she thinks wronged her namely Talen.
Will she succeed in her quest to destroy Maya, Talens new love?
Will she finally realize she needs help before she goes off the deep end and its too late?

First of make sure you have read Marking Her and Marking first or you will be lost reading this book.
Wow Janice is a certifiable nut and it clearly shows in this book. She has such a fixation on Talen and the fact that he has moved on from her with his new love Maya.
I honestly went into reading this trying to give Janice the benefit of the doubt but halfway thru I changed my mind.
Janice no longer has a firm grip on reality and it clearly shows.
Elena did an awesome job writing Janice's story and after the way the book ended I'm looking forward to the next book in this five star series.
We also get introduced to a few new characters that I'm interested in seeing and getting to know them more in upcoming books.

I was given a copy of Scars for an honest review and it doesn't disappoint. Elena has done it yet again. While this is book 2.5 it could have easily been book three in the Marking series, this book is all about resident Witch ( just switch the W for a B ) Janice. In Marking Him and Marking Her Janice has caused all kinds of trouble for Talon and his Bitty. I was very pissed at Janice and Elena for obvious reasons, but after reading Scars, I finally get some understanding into who Janice is and why she's such a witch to everyone. There is a reason and purpose behind it. I can admit I wasn't ready to read Janice's story at all, but I'm glad I did. Scars gives us everything Elena has given in each book she's written to date. She opens this book with a semi hot sexual moment between Janice and Jamie one of the two guys she will be involved with. i promise all the hype is worth it. I don't want to give anything away, just go get your copy and read for yourself. I absolutely love Elena and these wonderful characters she has given us and Im waiting patiently for whats to come in the future from her.

Oh poor little Janice... The funny thing is that when I've read about pyshco Janice in the first 2 Marked books, I honestly thought of her, well my image of her was more crack whorish, elevator didn't quite go all the way to the top, type of girl.. In this little novella we actually learn to not really like her, but somewhat understand her a little better. We learn that a very traumatic event takes place in her teenage years, were I guess she feels invisible and unlovable until she drops in And later on starts to work at the tatt shop. We see the early stage of a maybe friendship with her and Talan and basically the start for her obsession with Talan and I guess by association Maya, whom she wants, well basically, make disappear so that her crappy unbalance life becomes somewhat better.. We meet new characters within this novella, they somehow care deeply for Janice, but in her own malice she can't seem to grasped that 100%, to some degree yes but not totally..

Totally worth the read, but if you have done so you will need to read the first 2 books first in order for this to make sense.

In Marking Him and Marking Her, the previous books in the Marked series, we loved to hate Janice. I will not spoil the book for you guys, I will stop that comment there.

Elena takes us on a journey into the mind of mentally ill woman, that, at the moment lives in her own reality, one that has put at risk her life and the lives of other people.

Then there is Jaime, a club owner that is attached to a person that uses him to ease her pain, could he be the knight marked with tattoos for Janice. To know that, yes you guessed it, one click it, I swear you will not be disappointed, the series is amazing and this book is so good.

Lets talk a bit about Elena's writing. The way she portrays the mind of Janice is spot on with her mental issues. Is a very hard thing to do, and she did impeccably, also with a compassion that makes you delve so deep into the story, you want to cuddle and get help for the characters. I am telling you Elena is amazing at what she does and kudos to her because it is not a type of story that is easy to outline and write. 5 stars it is from me people, MUST BUY!!!

Well where do I start? This book is a sequel of Marking Him and Marking her. Here we find out the deep dark secrets that make up the character we know as and hate as Janice.
In this book you see the ups, downs and twist that Janice has gone through her whole life. The loses and the people that were suppose to love her the most abandon her. In her brain Talan was hers because he was nice to her and they slept together couple times she forms a relationship from nothing with him. The trigger for her completely losing it this time was her feeling like another person she loved was abandoning her. Her not taking and skipping medicine and frequently has her on a downward spiral that her actions may land her permantly behind bars.
Elena definitely nailed it with this character she just has this way on making you love her, hate her, and feel sorry for her all at the same time. We'll played!!! Can't wait till next book in series and meeting new characters that were introduced in this book. I would totally recommend this book to anyone!

PSA: If you have not read Marking Him or Marking Her you will be utterly lost in more ways than one. One reason is because they are awesome books and another because you won’t understand where Janice came about.
This book had me screaming at my kindle because of how crazy things are going for Janice. She is a little, can we say, loco. I can understand some of the reasoning behind it but still she has lost it. You know her form the first two books as the girl who used to work for Talan and who she fell in love with. The only thing is that Talan doesn’t love her in return.
I don’t want to go in great detail of the book because I wouldn’t shut up until you knew the ending. I have a big mouth sometimes. About the ending though I need more Mrs. Elena M. Reyes. Like soon.
I am giving this book 4.5 hearts. You need to read all of this book to appreciate the writing of this author. She is great.

I understand that this is part of series (I did not read Marking Him or Marking Her). I must admit I was lost not knowing the characters - however, the book is like an accident that you can't take your eyes away from. In a good way! Once I started I lost some sleep having to finish it and then having finished I lost some sleep hoping that there aren't but knowing that there are nut jobs in the real world like Janice.

Janice is a down and out crazy woman. She needs help in so many ways that I don't think there is any way to honestly help her. She needs to be locked away in a padded room! Did she or did she not do some horrible things. I am going to have to go back and read the first two books to see what happened that led her down her current path of insanity and her obsession with Talon.

I would highly recommend reading the series in order, but if the first two are anything like this short read then prepare to have your mind messed with.

4.5 Bat Shit Crazy Stars

Oh my, This was o so crazzzzyy!! I loved it...It's different to to usual boring normal reads out there. It gives my mind a little twist just thinking of mental patients not taking their meds....Anything can happen!

Janice is mentally unstable due to an traumatic event that not only shaped her youth but is destroying her future. She's grasping at her infatuation & desperate feelings towards Talan the man of her dreams who does not return her feelings. Talan is in love with Maya & this drives Janice to be even more crazy and destructive due to her jealousy and rage.

Jaime is just incredible he loves Janice and is concerned for her and tries to anchor her and to do what's right but she keeps pushing him away not returning his feelings & refusing to let go of Talan.

Will she finally get the help that she needs? & how far will she go before asking for help??

Janice is back in book 3 of the Marked Series by Elena M. Reyes. With her mental health in a state of disrepair, and her love for Talan unwavering, will Janice take dangerous measures to ensure she has her man? Will she get the help she so desperately needs before she explodes?

This was 'motherfucking' awesome! I read r this in one sitting, not wanting to put my kindle down, or leave it at a chapter. Every chapter ending was a cliffhanger. I got sucked in and spat back out at the end. The writing itself was phenomenal. The storyline all clicked into place. Getting into the mind of a disturbed young woman had me clutching something almost all the way through. I can't wait for more books from Elena, it's always an pleasure to read her fantastic work!

Aimed at audiences of 18+ with strong language, sexual content and minor violence.

Janice Janice Janice. I will admit I was not thrilled when I realized this was going to be about her, but I am glad I read it. It was interesting taking a step into her crazy mind and see all she has been through. I would consider this a quick read, but it did take me a bit to get into the beginning(as I said I wasn't really thrilled it was about her). I look forward to hearing how things turn out with her and if she can get the help she obviously needs. Since it seems she has an entwined history with Talon and Lance I hope at some point we get to see them again. Whether they make peace with each other or she just gets a chance to change for the better an apologize. No matter what I look forward to more in this series!

I have read some crazy bitches in my day but this chick, she takes the damn cake!! I loved every damn minute of her crazy!!!!

Janice, oh dear, we get the full unedited glimpse into who she is. She is on demented and sick person. Well, I mean we see how crazy she is in book 1 and 2 but when you actually see it first hand you want to run to her with a straight jacket and walk her into a padded room.

This girl is destruction to the millionth power. Her instability has her leaving a trail of chaos. She does't want help, doesn't need it all she sees is one thing.. TALAN!!

This girl leaves us wondering what in the hell is going to happen next.

Elena took crazy to a whole new level. Here's to the craziest chick in a book to date.

This story is about Janice and all of her crazy glorious self.
In the previous books we saw a alot of Janice and her crazy.
Now in Scars, we see who Janice really is and her mind frame.
While I will say I disliked Janices' character in the other books, well this one changed my feelings on her.
Elena did a brilliant job in changing my mind. Poor Janice is a very sick girl and needs alot of help. I felt really bad for her. We are introduced to a few new characters & I can say I know I will be hot on Luke ;-)

While reading Marking Him & Marking Her, I hated Janice. She was on my crap list. After reading Scars, my heart is breaking for her. She needs love so much. I think deep down that is all she really wants. This girl has been through something else (that we do not know all the details to yet, sneaky Elena) but from what I just read, I wanna give her a big ol' crazy girl hug! You have done it Elena, I do kinda like #CrazyBombshell now. and #CrazyIsTheNewCool totally!

FOUR Stars- I received an ARC for an honest review of Scars (Marked, #2.5) by Elena M. Reyes
I thought the timing of this book was perfect, answering questions about Janice's crazy mind and her point of view. It also confirmed how far gone she really was. This is a quick read into Janice's crazy world. It explains a lot and should not be skipped.

Poor Janice. All throughout her story that is all I kept thinking. How much she needed to get help and how completely off her rocker she was along the way. To have no one in her life that would fight for her. My heart really broke for her as I read her story.

**Some spoilers read with caution

I have to say, up to this point I thought Janice was an evil psycho bitch. Reading this book through her eyes takes you from hating her to feeling so bad for her. She is a wounded soul with severe abandonment and mental health issues. Her whole world fell apart as a teenager when her sister died and her parents, so emotionally distraught, weren’t there for her. She spirals in and out of sanity with highs and lows. Major delusions of a relationship with Talon that is one sided and completely in her head. She wakes up one morning and realizes that it had been months since she’d run out of her meds but just continues to fall further down the dark hole of despair. Feeling completely at the end of her rope she puts a plan in motion to get rid of Maya. This takes us to the ending of book 2 with the attack on Maya and Janice literally waking up out of a dark spell to realize what she’s done. My heart actually hurts for her. Mental health is a real issue. I hope in the next book we will find her getting the help she needs and finally moving on from her obsession with Talon.
I love how Elena can draw you into her characters so much so that you feel for even the evilest of her characters. Can’t wait for the next one.

Oh holy hell! This is all about Janice, this girl…..smh. In the first two books we get glimpses of our girl but she has had a sordid past and some other issues to go right along with it. She is the girl we all love to hate….but dayum, I feel so bad for her. So, we all know she is hung up on Talan and currently hates Maya because she stole Talan from her. But the leaps and bounds she goes through to tear these two apart is incredible. And she has a support system that wants to help her be better.

I dressed like a whore.
Acted like a b*tch.
Innocent could never be used to describe me.

We get to dive into Janice’s world and how she rationalizes what she does and did! She has scars but does an incredible job at hiding them….until…..Maya. It’s definitely an interesting glimpse into her life and give us so much more to go on than just the crazy girl who thinks she loves Talan. There is SOOOOOOO MUCH MORE! I feel more complete with the series at this point knowing just where Janice is coming from and how she justifies her behavior. It’s INTENSE!!!!

Losing him to her wouldn’t be the end of my world, just the intermission into my next chapter.

I can’t wait to get started with Marked to get my fix! I’m addicted!!!! Bravo Elena M. Reyes, you rocked my world!

Holy Crap! I do not know where to start with this Scars!

JANICE? Really, Can the chick not get a damn clue? How many times do you have to be turned away before you actually accept the damn answer that Talan has given you so many times before! NO!
I want to throw something at this crazy persons head so she can freaking realize this already.

There were quite a few times that I hid my face behind the cover of my kindle because I was afraid of what she was going to do!

Jamie tries to center her, but in my eyes she is broken beyond repair!

I cannot wait for the next installment!

You’ve done it again Elena.
