Emalyn When tragedy struck and claimed my best friend, I found myself at Westmoore University. I had no intentions of forming attachments in friendships or relationships. The Deviants broke through the icy walls of my heart. Before I knew it, everything I knew about my life and the world changed.
The Deviants Being an heir to the Power Triad comes with a long list of perks, if you find your mate by the time you turn 18. Exiled. That’s the only thing we all had in common, until a hardcore introvert had us enamored.
Cain No one really knows me. They think that I’m nothing more than a myth. I’ve ruled the UnderWorld in peace for centuries. Everything changed when I was called upon to rescue a mortal girl who tuned my world upside down.
This is the first book in the Lost Fates Duet. This is a why choose with shifter undertones suitable for readers 18+. This book contains dark themes and potential triggers.
Part one of completed duet. Interesting fantasy, pnr, reverse harem, lost heritage, shifters, magic. This is awkwardly written especially in the beginning, but soon becomes entertaining and funny in parts. After losing her best friend in a car accident, our Human heroine is depressed until the friend's father convinces her to transfer to a new college. Her mother is neglectful and emotionally absent. There she meets three shifter males all of whom have been exiled because they couldn't find their mates. A relationship ensues lasting several years despite her being human. Suddenly they are all swept into a magical mate trial. Secrets unfold and evil abounds. This was hard to rate though because it has terrible editing, misused words and punctuation mar the story and continuity errors add to the confusion.
I whipped through this book so quickly, I for the life of me could not put it down. I loved the storyline but I didn’t like how much it jumped around and how little details seemed to slip. I wish we knew more about the organization and why they all of a sudden appeared. You hinted at things once and then chapters later bam here’s what it was. There wasn’t much leading up to it or in the middle of it. At times I was confused why some things were being brought up and never spoken about again. Aside from these things I loved the storyline I just wish it was better laid out. I can’t wait to see what’s going on in the next book
2 stars for the story idea. If you’re 10, this will be perfect for you.
Good story idea, that’s all folks. Exceptionally simplistic writing, no mystery whatsoever, it’s like fantasy meets famous five. A damn good re-write is needed, contractions, grammar and just some plain old edge of the seat goings on. Really, all the characters come across as simplistic morons.
The concept seemed cool, but unfortunately, the writing was not for me. The transitions between POVs were abrupt, and there was more telling rather than showing. I also did not like Dax as a person 😭😭
