Rate this book
Curvy Kyla takes herself out to her cabin in order to focus on her artwork and have some all important “me-time”. Little does she know, there is huge danger in the deep woods that surround her cabin and an unarmed female such as Kyla is fair game for the criminals and wild beasts that lie within the territory.

Enter the mysterious and incredibly attractive Aaron. A huge musclebound man with the ability to transform into an even bigger dark bear. He tells her the only way she will survive out here is if he can take care of her and protect her.

That is, to take care of her in more ways then just one...

THIS WAS A FREE DOWNLOAD!!!
This enchanting love story between Kyla and Aaron was sweet, humorous and romantic right from the beginning. It has a small outside conflict that must be dealt with but other than that it was pretty smooth. This was a terrific fast paced short quick read. This would be a great lunchtime read, to take your mind off stressful situations. I hope that the next book has more depth and is longer. This could be a terrific series. I recommend this book!

Short and sweet beginnings

This was a quick and romantic read that I couldn't put down. I also really liked the new twist on how the Werebears were created. It was definitely a unique new beginning compared to other shifter stories.

The romance which was the biggest and best part of the story was so sweet I adored the little banter they had going on. You could really see the chemistry between these two. It was also really nice to see that it wasn't insta love (insta lust maybe). They really took the time to get to know one another and the rest of the family.

Kyla was a warm hearted artist who was just seeking some peace and quiet. I thought she was a really sweet character and the perfect match for Aaron. She knew how to handle herself in a fight and wasn't afraid to stand up for or to her bear shifter.

Aaron was a sweetie that could easily melt anyone's heart. He had a playful nature about him and love to make his girl smile. He was however all alpha and as such loved to play rough.

This is a must read for any shifter fans out there! I cannot wait to finish this trilogy.

~!~ Overall a nice story, it just fell a little short ~!~

3.5 stars
I really wanted to love this short novella. I love shifter alpha male romances, but this fell a little short for me. The storyline is good, but it's 100% predictable. The h is a strong woman, but I couldn't help but think that some of her decisions made her a very stupid woman. Also, I know this is a very short story, so things have to move quickly, but I still felt that the romance was just too fast. The good news is that it concludes with a nice HEA ending.

Series: Bear Protector #1
Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance, Short-story
Received from: Amazon purchase
Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content and violence
Grammar/editing: A – near perfect

This is the first book in the Bear Protector trilogy. They do need to be read in order.

A nice, fast-paced, short story. A BBW, paranormal, love story. It was a good escape from the boredom of life. I liked Kyla, but I loved Aaron. Aaron is a gentle giant with jewel-like green eyes. He’s possessive, protective, and passionate. The alpha of his den of were-bears, he is contemplative and intelligent.

There were parts that were a little rushed. For example, Kyla’s rambling when she is told that Aaron is a bear. There were so many thoughts possible and the whole spaghetti pot was thrown against the wall. This could have been mitigated by the two of them joking afterwards about her saying every thought that went through her head or by making it a more internal conversation for her.

An excellent first publication. Ms. Burrows will do well in the literary world.

Despite this books flaws it kept me interested. Here are some issues I had with it. 1) the dialogue seems unbelievable in places. I'm not sure any guy would tell a chick she makes his heart beat faster. Really?. 2) The author summarizes a lot. Which means it'll be like "we had a great three days". It just seems so cut short. 3) The romance between them (them falling in love in 2.2 seconds) also seems unbelievable and a little creepy. And finally 4) you know in horror movies when the main character makes the stupidest decisions? That's what this character, Kyla, does toward the end. At one point I burst out laughing at her stupidity. BUT despite all that it kept me entertained and enthralled until the end.

Don't get me wrong, I liked it but it was super-insta-love. The h is already saying she's in love with the H the next day of meeting him. And she's sleeping with him that same day! Um, woah! The h is also A-Okay with finding out the H (and his family) is a werebear because she just knew from the second she encountered the black bear with green eyes and H showing up he was a shifter. Usually with knowledge like that you need time to digest it, not oh its fine- what you want for breakfast.

So besides insta-loving, tiny grammar errors and rush ending. This was a good read. I will be getting the next two books in series.

Got this as a free read from Amazon. Shifter storyline that contains humor, romance and action. Book was fast-paced in the development of Aaron and Kyla's relationship. I did feel Kyla was a little juvenile at times. Definitely different than other shifter books I have read. Wanted to love it but it was just an okay read.

OK, not great

I finished this novella, which is more than I can say about the last one I tried to read. The story is one of those instalust stories and is pretty superficial. There's no depth to it. But the editing is clean, the storytelling adequate, the plot unoriginal and predictable. By the way, no one uses a .38 pistol for shooting anything more than 10 yards away.

I thought this was short but very cute. Although I thought Kyla and Aaron fell in love a little too fast but I mean he did save her life which I suspected. I love that Kyla just came out with what she was thinking about him being the bear. I also enjoyed the little glimpse of how Aaron got created into a bear. I'm excited to start the next book.

Not a bad story, no jumping around just evenly flowed from one scene to the next. Not really a cliffhanger but its like one.

The cheese factor was strong with this book, as were the tropes. Ugh.

Cute, quick story. I have read the tiger series and thought I would give a bear story a try. I didn't mind it, thought it was a cute sweet story, but I do like the tiger stories better.
