Christina Sol is an award-winning author who writes what she loves to read — romance books filled with heart, heat, and suspense.

An avid reader from the get-go, Christina was obsessed with The Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High, Christopher Pike, and all things V. C. Andrews. Her love for romance started with the Sunfire books, a YA historical romance series. Caroline by Willo Davis Roberts was her favorite of the series, and a copy of the 1984 novel is one of her most treasured possessions. Then she discovered Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. And never looked back. She’s still a voracious reader and enjoys all genres of romance, but leans toward romantic suspense and dark romance.

She lives in the inland Pacific Northwest with her husband and two kids. When she’s not writing, reading, or knitting, she’s watching football or fueling her planner, sticker, and washi-tape obsession.

SPOILERS!

I rounded it out to 3 stars because for once a suspense story had equal amounts of romance in it which doesn't happen often, and I also enjoyed their friends-to-lovers romance and that it had a smart & strong FMC for once.

That said though, what did not work for me is that for 8 years the MCs were colleagues and close friends and there was no attraction between them so I don't get how we go from that to suddenly they can't keep their hands off each other & are in love? What ever happened to slowly building on that? Why not have them secreting lusting on the other and afraid to ruin there friendship or something? And 8 years? Uhm....no.

And to top it off, they both got to be with OP? Nope. Doesn't work in fictional romances. Once MCs meet, there should not be any OP because all it does is destroy this whole "you are my one and only" and "it's always been you" nonsense. Please people, I know it's fictional romance but get real. Your readers don't want that shit and anyone who says they do is just plain lying to you.

Safety:

OW - There is one OW who is attempting to hit on MMC but he shuts it down.
OM - None
Cheating - None
Manhos - Not really. MMC said he never had any serious relationship but that sometime around the time FMC came to work for him, he picked up an OW and had sleepover with her that didn't turn well for him because he had PTSD and tried to choke her so he says he doesn't do sleepovers anymore incase he hurts anyone. (FMC the exception of course).

FMC said she was in a 2 year relationship with OM but it ended badly and she has had 2 flings since then and a ONS shortly after she started working for MMC.

HFN. They move in together and no discussion about marriage or kids.

*I received this book as an ARC*

Tropes:
Small Town
Workplace Romance
Boss/Employee
Friends to Lovers

This book was a little difficult for me to get into at first, but only because I haven’t read a lot of hacker heroine romance. BUT! Once I got hooked, I was HOOKED. Bean & Gavin were a wonderful story and I absolutely loved the passion. I can’t wait to read the rest of the Hudson Security series!!

Suspense was meh. I liked both the characters, it's friends to lovers but even though they've known each other for 8 years, it feels very insta love. They go from 0 to 100 real fast.

Safety - They are friends/co-workers/he's her boss. Both date and sleep with op and there's brief mention of exes in passing. A client ow hits on H but he turns her down. No ow/om drama.

Gavin & Bean are everything!! These two have been friends and colleagues for years, never anything more. But even the idea that Bean could be in trouble? Oh all bets are off. She’s no longer just Gavin’s friend. I loved watching the dynamics shift between them and watching them acknowledge how they feel. I was cackling at how involved the rest of Hudson Security is in their relationship! I loved seeing Bean come out of her shell and find that balance between work and play, and I loved how sweet Gavin was–such a different side from the gruff leader we usually see. Swoon. I love him. I absolutely devoured this one and loved getting to be back on Hudson Island, and I cannot wait for more!!

I loved Out of the Shadows, an incredible romantic thriller by Christina Sol, the first book in her new Hudson Security series. Who does not love a boss/employee romantic thriller with a happily ever after ending? Christina Sol is a must-read author for me. It was an incredible story, and I loved reading every moment on every page. I was hooked from the first page, and it was impossible to put it down. Out of the Shadows was an amazing story, and I highly recommend it if you love a romantic thriller. I can honestly say that Out of the Shadows is one of the most enjoyable romantic thrillers that I have read recently. Christina Sol provided her readers with the amazing characters that I loved, who feel like close friends! Her characters in Out of the Shadows are so believable and charming, they share great chemistry, lots of laughs, and steamy romance. I love how she developed the story line and the characters. Out of the Shadows is the story of Sabrina “Bean” Ventura, IT specialist/hacker for Hudson Security, and Gavin Frazier, head of Hudson Security. Bean and Gavin are friends as well as employee/boss. Gavin and Bean are attracted to one another but have never crossed the line. The Hudson Security teams work together with Bean directing them to rescue a kidnapped child. As Gavin and Bean continue to spend time working together, things begin to change between them. They each realize that they have feelings for one another, and things heat up between them. I love the chemistry between Bean and Gavin, how the sparks fly when they are near one another and that it so much more than chemistry, it was love. Mysterious events happening involving the Hudson Security team and the kidnapping victims family. I love everything that Gavin and his team do to investigate what is going on and keep Bean safe. I love everything that Gavin does for Bean to keep her safe. I love how Bean shares with Gavin her childhood and everything that happened in her life. They shared things with one another that they had not shared with anyone before. I love Gavin and Bean’s love story, and how Bean shows her vulnerable side to Gavin. Then an unexpected plot twist changes things between them, putting Bean’s lives in danger. Loved how Gavin and his team were able to determine who was behind the mysterious events and where Bean was so that could rescue her. It kept me on the edge of my seat how they were going to solve who was behind it. I love all the changes that both Bean and Gavin are willing to make in their lives because of their love for one another. One of my favorite parts of Out of the Shadows is the epilogue that and how it wraps up their love story. I love Gavin’s feelings about Bean’s 49ers sweatshirt. I also love the bonus epilogue and how it went above and beyond a happily ever after, especially with Bean and Gavin playing video games. I love the characters in Out of the Shadows, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between the characters and the team member, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. I love the relationship between Gavin and his team. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? Out of the Shadows is filled with all those things that I love in a romantic thriller, incredible characters, amazing story, poignant and bittersweet moments, and surprise plot twists. Christina Sol did not disappoint in her delivery of those things. I love how she resolved the surprise plot twist; it was truly a heartwarming moment. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series which is Xander’s story. Highly recommend this workplace love story. I received an advanced copy from the author.

A delicious balance of romance and action will keep you actively engaged in Christina Sol's newest novel Out of the Shadows, which is also the first in a new series. The comfort of a small pacific coast island town is the central setting for this romantic suspense the evocatively brings to life the beauty of the outdoors in the hustle and bustle of a high stress job. Sol's writing is engaging and clear bringing to life this fast paced friends to lovers romance. Sol's characters are interesting and relatable making this workplace romance believable and swoon worthy. I have found Sol's work to be sweetly romantic and heart thumping action resulting in a plot driven novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Out of the Shadows is a workplace romance that brings Bean, a computer and hacker genius, and Gavin, an active owner Hudson Security, together giving them the opportunity to see the other in a new light. From the first page of this novel the outside plot and action is actively working to bring these two together. The fast paced nature of this novel works well as these friends fall quickly into a tension filled chemistry that will lead them to take a chance love. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop out of an already mutual respect and trust for the other. It was charmingly sweet to see these two find an attraction to the other that they have never really examined. I love the trust and understanding that is already a strong foundation of their relationship and how that develops into a care and consideration for the other's well being. Their romance is so much fun, and I loved seeing both of them experience the hobbies and interest the other has and finding this common ground where they can share these joys with each other.

Christina Sol will deliver is you are looking for a fast paced romance full of action. I would highly recommend this novel and this is a perfect entry point into Sol's romances and world!

Thank you so much to Grey Promotions for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is such a brilliant read.
Bean is the lead hacker/computer specialist at Hudson Security and her job is everything but working non stop puts her health at risk. When Gavin, the head at Hudson Security, sees Bean injured his protective side comes out and he takes care of her.
Soon their feelings for each other start to change but neither will admit it.
I loved how they were together but solving their current case needs all their attention.
Plenty of twists and turns with so much suspense but can they solve the case before it gets too close to them.
A must read with a brilliant ending.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

And just like that, another book devoured in three hours!

Ever since I discovered Christina Sol in July 2024, I’ve been eagerly anticipating Gavin’s story. He’s a character we’ve slowly gotten to know throughout the other series, and from the very beginning, there was something about him that intrigued me. He always had this quiet intensity, this air of mystery, and I just *knew* his story would be something special. Secretly, I had been hoping he would end up with Bean—and what a surprise (and a joy) to see that it actually happened!

I absolutely loved the romance between these two. The way they balance each other out, how they challenge and support one another—it felt so natural, so inevitable. Their chemistry was undeniable, and the emotional depth of their relationship made every moment between them even more powerful.

The suspense in this book was another highlight. It kept me hooked from start to finish, making me second-guess every little detail as I tried to unravel the mystery. Every twist and turn had me on edge, and I loved how it added another layer of intensity to the story.

And of course, seeing familiar faces from the other series was such a treat. The brief appearance of Roxie, in particular, made me *so* happy—her book remains one of my absolute favorites, so any glimpse of her is a win for me!

If I had one tiny regret, it’s that I’m starting this series from the very beginning rather than jumping in just before the final book, like I did with my first Christina Sol series. There was something exciting about discovering a world that was already in full motion, piecing things together bit by bit. But honestly, this journey is just as thrilling, and I can’t wait to see where this series takes me next!

With Out of the Shadows Christina kicks of a new series set in a pacific coastal town. This time it's the Hudson Security team whom we'll get to know and see get their happy endings.

Gavin is the head of Hudson Security, he started the team wanting to help people without having to stick to all the rules and being able to step outside of the box to get things done. He's surrounded by great people some whom he's known from his former career, some who joined his team later after being thoroughly vetted. One of those is Bean...

Sabrina or Bean as she's nicknamed is Hudson Security's IT-specialist aka hacker. She's a real genius and can find and do anything computer wise. She knows she's the best there is and unfortunately that also means she's got a hard time delegating her work load. When it gets to be too much and she has an accident at work, it finally opens her eyes. She did not only scare herself but also Gavin, as suddenly he starts seeing her totally differently. They've always felt one another attractive but being boss/employee and good friends have never done anything with it.

Intermixed with the romance in this book is also some suspense. While working on a kidnapping case of a little boy, things aren't what they seem and it's a race against the clock to keep the boy and his family safe.

This was a great start to a new series and as it's a spin-off we get to see cameo's of character from the previous Hudson Island series. It was great to see how both Gavin and Bean were willing to try each others hobbies, Gavin being an outdoorsy person took Bean for hikes while he tried to play the computer games she likes so much. The only thing that did strike me a bit as odd was the fact that Gavin and Bean went from friends to being super attracted to eachother so super quickly. The turn around was a bit too sudden for me.

But all in all Out of the Shadows is a super opening for this series and I'm definitely looking forward to read the next book which will be Xander. I can't wait to see what Christina's got in store for us there.

Gavin and Bean 🥹🥰 These two were always meant for each other, no matter how much they tried to stay away 🤭 Thank you so much, Christina, for the ARC 🥹💙

Gavin Frazier 🧎‍♀️ When I first met him in Shattered Secrets, I was in awe of the Head of Hudson Security! Tall, handsome, intelligent, successful, ex military, obsessed, protective, charming, touch her and d*e, calm, composed, seductive, dirty mouth, grumpy with anyone that's not Bean 🥹 and loves the family he has built at Hudson Security. There was always a mysterious vibe surrounding Gavin, and all I wanted to do was get a look into his life. He and Bean have been close friends for the past 8 years, and he's always felt something for her that he refused to name, because firstly they work together and he didn't want to ruin their friendship. But all his rules went out the window, when he saw that bruise on her face 😭

Sabrina Ventura 🥹 aka Bean! Badass does not even cover the aura this woman exudes! She's the hacker and head of communications at Hudson Security. Beautiful, genius, feisty, strong, mysterious, protective, possessive, shy, introverted, rich, humble, and stubborn 😂 She's been overworking herself in recent months and it all comes to a head, when she faints in her office, bruises her face and has a mild concussion. The immediate protective instincts she got to witness from Gavin 😩 Bean is the luckiest woman! The first thing he asked her "Who did this to you?!" Sir!! 🧎‍♀️ I know, Bean and I were both on our knees! She drives this man up the damn wall with a smirk, and I know she will do it all over again!

The banter was insanely good! They made me cackle, giggle, and smirk from chapter one. The chemistry is undeniable, and I have no clue how they held out for 8 years 😩 The writing, characters, spice, and storyline are magnificent as always, Christina 🥹 Gavin and Bean are FREAKS alright 🤭 What a brilliant start to your new series and I can't wait to read Xanders story because ma'am 🧎‍♀️🥵

Out of the Shadows is the first book in the Hudson Security series featuring a friends-to-lovers, workplace romance between Gavin, the founder of Hudson Security, and Bean, an incredibly skilled hacker who helps Gavin and his team behind the scenes. While it can definitely be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the Hudson Island series first.

After bingeing Hudson Island, I knew I'd love Gavin and Bean together and their romance did not disappoint! These two are EVERYTHING. The chemistry. The banter. Everything about them was just perfect. So many of their interactions had me grinning. And the best part? No third-act breakup 🙌🏻

They’ve known each other for years but romance was never part of the equation. Work is their number one priority until one day, that begins to change and I loved that they didn’t overcomplicate it. Yes, they both have things to work through but the way their relationship evolved just felt so natural.

Bean is incredibly relatable with her lack of social skills, love of caffeine and dislike of the outdoors. She’s sassy and a major workaholic so it was great seeing her step out of her comfort zone and start to develop a work-life balance.
Gavin may seem intense but he’s so sweet and patient with Bean. I loved how protective he is and how she basically has to tell him to stop overreacting so she can do her job 😂

This was an excellent blend of romance and suspense. I don't want to spoil anything but the mystery had me hooked from start to finish.

If you enjoy small-town, romantic suspense with danger, sizzling romance and entertaining side characters, you should definitely pick this up. I loved everyone at Hudson Security and can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Many thanks to Grey’s Promotions for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A return to Hudson Island for the start of a new series beginning with Out of the Shadows, a fantastic workplace romance as Gavin Frazier notices the woman who has been under nose for years running his cyber department. Sabrina aka Bean was a brilliant hacker but was also a workaholic with little life outside the office, her one weakness, a penchant for expensive shoes. There had been no hint of anything between them until Gavin mistakenly thought Bean had been assaulted triggering all his protective instincts. But it’s not Bean who’s in danger when attempts on Gavin’s life begin to escalate.

I loved Sabrina and Gavin were both more mature characters in their thirties and instead of the typical tomboy cyber geek, Bean was very much a girly girl who hated anything outdoorsy much to Gavin’s chagrin fostering a determination in him to make her take the time to smell the roses…… well trees in her case. Nothing says I love you better than a pair of Louboutin stilettos even if they came with a pair of hiking boots. Their romance was fast paced with very little angst, this pair knew they wanted each other so didn’t waste any time agonising over any imaginary issues and I loved the edge of humour their being together brought with their colleagues teasing reactions to their relationship but they were more than just workmates, they were family as proven by said teasing. The suspense element of the story was gripping as the case they had just solved turned out to be more complex than originally thought. With a great flow and plenty of twists and turns, the suspense and danger built before reaching a dramatic conclusion which has left this reader eagerly anticipating a return to Hudson Security for the next book in the series.

This book was the perfect fast paced and suspenseful read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Written in third person with two POVs, Out of the Shadows follows Gavin, an ex special forces turned founder of a highly successful security company and Bean, Hudson Security’s extremely intelligent IT specialist.
Gavin and Bean have been friends for years and always had a deeper understanding of each other. Until one day, Gavin comes in to Bean’s office and sees her with a massive bruise on her face and a flip switches.
We get the always riveting “Who did this to you” line, followed by Gavin’s sudden urge to protect Bean with his life.
The story follows our two friends as they navigate their feelings for each other while also solving one of their biggest cases to date. Who is the true target and will both Gavin and Bean make it out safely?

Overall this book was captivating from the beginning. Its fast pace and continuous action kept my attention and Gavin and Bean were such a fun couple. I loved the little humour moments of Xander being scandalized when catching them and cyber making the video montage of them in the woods.
I will say I wish there was more backstory on Gavin and Bean. For being friends for years they’re both still very closed off and I feel like there could definitely be some more communication between them.
I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for something quick and fun that also keeps you on the edge of your seat.

💻 Out of Shadows by Christina Sol – A Thrilling Romantic Suspense 💻

⭐️ 4/5 Stars

Bean is a tech genius, a wild hacker, and the IT mastermind behind Hudson Security. She’s worked alongside the ever-bossy yet controlled Gavin Frazier for years, but their relationship has always been strictly professional—until one charity gala changes everything. Suddenly, the sparks between them are undeniable, and Gavin starts seeing Bean in a whole new light.

I loved how fiercely independent Bean is, with her chaotic diet of energy drinks and junk food, while Gavin tries (and mostly fails) to introduce some order into her life. He’s patient, protective, and just the right amount of grumpy to her sunshine-with-an-edge. Their slow shift from coworkers to something more felt natural, and watching Gavin adapt to Bean’s world was chef’s kiss.

But beyond the romance, the suspense is just as gripping. When a past mission comes back to haunt Hudson Security, things get intense fast. Twists, danger, and high-stakes action keep the tension high, making this book impossible to put down.

Final Thoughts: If you love romantic suspense with a strong, quirky heroine and a protective hero, Out of Shadows delivers both action and heart. Christina Sol balances sizzling chemistry with thrilling intrigue, making this a must-read for fans of workplace romance, hacker heroines, and a little danger thrown into the mix! 🔥

I enjoyed this book, the first I’ve read by author Christina Sol. The story started out with a lot of intensity and grabbed me immediately. The action and suspense waned pretty quickly after that first burst though and then things stayed pretty quiet for a while. The author did a good job of setting up the new series and introducing all the characters populating it. I didn’t feel like I was being overwhelmed with names. And I liked the relationship between the two main characters, Gavin and Bean. (Though I was not a fan of her nickname.) I was a little annoyed with the author for describing Bean as a beautiful, curvy woman though. Only because Bean is also described as struggling with being a workaholic who doesn’t get out and hasn’t exercised in ages, and consumes only coffee, energy drinks and prepackaged junk food. Those two just don’t go together. And I really would have liked to get a little more back story on Gavin. All we’re told is that he was a former soldier and now runs a successful business. I was curious how he transitioned from the military to an elite security agency, and at a relatively young age. There was a bit of suspense and action peppered through the latter half of the book, but there wasn’t nearly as much as I’d hoped for. All in all though the writing was solid, the relationship (though it moved very quickly) was refreshing for its honesty and the characters were interesting. I’d be willing to give the next book in the series a read. Recommended.

We back on Hudson Island for the first book in the new series about the members of Hudson Security. We start off with the founder/owner of Hudson Security Gavin and his IT specialist/hacker "Bean" - and what a way to kick off the new series.

Gavin and Bean have a work/friend relationship, but when Bean passes out and knocks her face in the fall and Gavin see's her with the doctor, sporting a back eye, he assumes she was attacked. Obviously, Bean tells him the truth but this becomes defining moment for them, as they both realise the feelings they have for each other go way beyond that of work colleagues or friends.

If only life was that easy, Gavin and Bean don't waste to much time getting together and with their steamy chemistry, you get some scorching hot action. There were some fun moments as other members of Hudson Security suffer from "bad timing". Events don't just get hot between Gavin and Bean, there's a threat out there seemingly connected to a kidnapping case Hudson Security were recently involved in.

Gavin and Bean's journey is a steamy one, they share some intense personnel moments, take each other out of their comfort zones and yet switch back into work mode at the drop of a hat. There's some hectic twists and turns as the threat closes in which will keep you on the edge of your seat. I'm excited to read more of this series.

Gavin and Bean have worked closely together for more than 8 years and have become close friends. When workaholic Bean pushes herself past exhaustion she passes out and knocks her face on her desk which not only scares her, she’s injured. When Gavin sees her with a black eye all his protective instincts kick in and he sees her as his to protect.

In the blink of an eye their relationship changes and they each see each other in a new light and mutual attraction does more than simmer to the surface. When Bean attends a black tie gala with Gavin, he’s blown away by his gorgeous friend and employee.

I loved the reactions by all the Hudson team when they catch wind of the brewing romance between Bean and Gavin. Good natured teasing and chop busting takes place. This found family is tight knit and supportive.

This story brings a fast paced romance to life while the Hudson Security team work to solve who was behind the brutal kidnapping and torture of a client’s 3 year old son. Suspense, sass, romance and sizzling moments kept my attention from start to finish. I’m a big fan of this series and am eager for Xander’s book later this year.

I received a free ARC from the author and Grey’s PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

We find ourselves back in Hudson Bay for a closer look at the members of Hudson Security in this series. Galvin and Sabrina "Bean" have been right under each others noses for the past eight years. She is his secret weapon, hiding out behind the scenes, being their eyes and keeping them safe when out on missions.

When our workaholic computer specialist finds herself having some health issues, she begrudgingly sees the doctor. When the boss walks in to find the doctor looking her over and noticed the shiner that is quickly coming to the surface, a switch goes off inside him. Hello, Mr. protective alpha boss. Suddenly there are feelings of what ifs, could it be possible, what if we cross that line. Watching the move from boss/employee to the possibility of something more was fun.

There are some threats still out there after the recovery of the little boy. Are they after Galvin or is something else going on? But when they set their sights on Bean, all bets are off. It's time to get their girl back. Can Bean hold her own until they find her?

A fantastic read and great start to a new series. Excited to see what happens next on Hudson Island.

🌶️

This is the 1st in a new series and it is based on the Hudson Security team.
Gavin is 1 of the owners of this group and Sabrina 'Bean' is their top IT specialist aka Hacker.
I loved how it started already in action of how Bean is managing all technical stuff whole Gavin and team are rescuing a client. But do be prepared because I was not prepared for what they discover. It was heartbreaking.
Gavin & Bean have had strong friendship in the 8 yrs working together. It wasn't until she fainted and hurt herself, that Gavin got all possessive and protective. Something started shifting between the 2. They did kind of hold back at 1st but not for long and I really liked that. They have so much chemistry and we do get a scene or 2 but I think they would have been even more great if there was but more Spicy times.
The whole found family and fantastic banter added to this great book.
There is suspense in trying to find culprits that are now targeting Gavin & Bean. I definitely knew 1 of the suspects but didn't think of the other.
I really enjoyed this. If you like, suspense, action, drama, lots of cool tech stuff, hilarious banter, found family, love then don't miss this one.

I must admit I had a really difficult time getting into this book. Sabrina (Bean) is a computer hack, the best. She lives for her job. She doesn’t really take care of herself by eating healthy food or gettIng exercise. Her life is work and playing computer games. She works for Gavin who is the head of Hudson security. Sabrina had two fainting spells and the last one cause her to fall and hit her face on the side of a desk. This really sparks things because Gavin becomes worried and concerned about her and takes her to his home to feed and watch over. Now Sabrina and Gavin live near each other because their houses are on some sort of compound. Suddenly after 9 years of working together sparks are flying and there is an attraction. I liked the mystery and the suspense elements of the story more than their romance. There was banter and it was great, there was even some spice. I just thought Sabrina seemed more like a young twenty year old than a mature woman and whereas Gavin appeared to be a comfortable self assured man and I didn’t think they complimented each other. I do want to read the next book in this series. The story and the retrieval of their “package” is great and well worth the read.

I haven’t read a romance thriller before, didn’t even know they were a thing until now. The story at first was hard to get into but after like chapter four I was in. This is the first book in the Hudson Security series as well as my first book by Christina Sol. Her writing style was different from others, for example the way she writes her characters; he made them seem real (if that makes sense). Like it didn’t seem like I was reading a story. My favorite thing about a book is when it can make you feel something. Like in romance books, I love when I am feeling butterflies for the girl and I am like screaming at the book for her to forgive him. This book did the exact same but this time with the twist and suspense through out. It will for sure keep you on your toes. I feel like I say this in almost every review but I am excited for book two! The connection between Bean and Gavin is unmatched and adorable in my opinion. I really enjoyed the change of pace this book had at versus the other books I have read in the past.

Thank you to Grey's Promotions and Christina Sol for letting me read this book early with an ARC.

4.5 ⭐

Sabrina “Bean” is an IT Specialist for Hudson Security, which we’ve gotten a look at in the Hudson Island series. Gavin started Hudson Security when he had gotten out of the army, still wanting to help people.

I have loved Bean from the moment she was introduced in the Hudson Island series. She’s fiery, sassy and a work alcoholic and a total genius. She never thought she’d fall in love with her boss, yet here we are, in love with Gavin Frazier. Gavin is her boss and has a quiet intensity about him that I love!

They balance each other out perfectly, challenge each other and support one another. The way Gavin went all protective, alpha male when Bean had gotten hurt made me so giddy. It was a turning point in their relationship.

I enjoyed the cameos of the characters from the Hudson Island series ❤️I loved the plot, characters, and suspense! I was hooked from the very beginning, every twist and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat. And I can’t wait for the next book!

I really enjoyed Out of the Shadows by Christina Sol! The third-person perspective took me a bit by surprise, especially since I’ve been reading so many first-person narratives lately, but it ended up being a refreshing change. The story’s suspense kept me hooked from start to finish—there’s just enough mystery woven into the romance to keep things interesting and unpredictable. I love a good balance of tension and attraction, and this book definitely delivered.

In Out of the Shadows, Sabrina “Bean” Ventura is one of the world’s most skilled hackers, working from the shadows to protect her team at Hudson Security. Gavin Frazier, the head of Hudson Security, is a man with one priority: protecting those under his care. Bean and Gavin have worked together for years, but find themselves drawn to each other after an issue at work. I've not read Christina's work before, but I understand that Gavin (and possibly Bean?) have been introduced in the Hudson Island series previously.

I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the series and following others from Hudson Security!

The first one in this series and a great start to it. I always love a suspenseful romance story read and I truly enjoyed the chemistry between all of the characters that definitely had something that lifted the story but of course I also liked how the relationship between Gavin & Bean evolved. Definitely excited to see what comes next in this series!

Gavin & Bean have been working together for years at Hudson Security. While Gavin runs the place alongside his team, Bean is one of the best hackers in the world. As they just closed on an assignement, it seems that it may not be totally over yet as new elements are discovered. But as Bean isn't feeling well, Gavin seems to be seeing her in a new light, even though he doesn't seem to be wanting to cross that line between them, their relationship evolves and feelings are starting to show. But as their case is becoming more deadly, danger might be lurking closer than they think. Will they solve the case and will everyone come out of it unscathed?...

I loved Gavin and Bean's story and felt it was a great way to kick off the Hudson Security series. I have read some of the previous books, but not all, that have mentioned a lot of the characters in this book. Because of that, I wish their friendship was explored a bit more in this book because the transition from just friends to a whole lot more was a bit sudden. Not quite insta-love but close to it.
Regardless, their chemistry is on pointe and so much fun to watch. And the way it was revealed to others made me laugh out loud! I enjoyed the alpha-ness of former military/security MMCs for their fierceness but also their honestly and their protectiveness. While Bean is a very strong woman with a killer job...have never had a FMC hacker in a book before...she definitely deserved an equally strong man who boosted her up while also watching her back.
Christina Sol did a phenomenal job, top to bottom, with both the storyline and the characters, main and secondary. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Sabrina or Bean was a crack hacker that worked for Hudson Security. She was a genius who didn’t have much of a childhood and wasn’t great in social settings. Gavin was the head of Hudson Security and his team had recently rescued a young boy who had been kidnapped. Since the man that had hired him to find his boy gave Gavin some good business, the man insisted Gavin go to a charity event as another person wanted to talk to him about security. I felt sorry for Bean as she ended going with him. There were some scary moments in the car going to the event and leaving.

I loved watching Gavin and Bean fall in love. It was interesting watching the team trying to figure out who was still after the family that they rescued the boy. Ms Sol did a great job with her twists and turns so I didn’t know what was going to happen next. There were also some funny scenes in the book. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

This book is one I couldn’t put down! From start to finish, I couldn’t get enough of Sabrina (Bean) and Hudson. They have known each other for years, acted as strictly colleagues and friends, but the moment she is hurt and in trouble, Hudson’s alpha protector side takes control. That side is possessive and not about to stay friend zoned. I love the banter, the snark and the realization that they have deeper feelings between them than just friendship. They certainly have super hot chemistry, an intense connection and make a great team, and not just at work. I love that Hudson shows Sabrina his softer, tender side too, while she lets herself be vulnerable and more open. The secrets, the danger and suspense, as well as the plot twists make this book an enthralling and thoroughly enjoyable read. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This spicy and enthralling book has my full recommendation.

Out of the Shadows is the first book in Sol’s new series, Hudson Security and it definitely a book to read. This is a boss/employee, friends to lovers with a fast-paced, intense storyline and a charming cast of characters. There’s chemistry, believable scenarios, lots of laughs, found family, and steamy romance. Gavin’s gruff and alpha tendencies make him a perfect protector hero and yet with Bean he’s comforting, sweet, and her safe place. Bean keeps to the background, all about work, no time for outside friends and niceties. She’s smart as a whip and a control freak. I loved watching her come out of her introverted shell, try new things, learn to let go, and find her inner strength with Gavin’s coaxing and confidence in her. I enjoyed watching Bean help Gavin find a balance between work and play. They compliment each other perfectly as a couple. This is a fantastic start to the series and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I definitely recommend.

Gavin runs a security business with Bean as his tech support/ hacker. When Bean gets hurt due to being overworked, Gavin realizes the extent of his feelings for her.

Christina Sol never lets me down!

I am a huge romantic suspense fan and I have loved all of Christina’s books. She does a great job with the case aspect of the book, driving up the suspense & intrigue with each chapter.

As a huge Arrow fan, I love how Felicity Smoak coded Bean is! Her character was super fun, from how much caffeine & junk food she ate to her distaste for the outdoors. I enjoyed the progression of her & Gavin’s relationship, but also, the found family in this book is amazing! I laughed at how much Gavin’s team teased him. I can’t wait to learn more about all the others on the team!
