How do I get on the ARC list for this?😭 Honey has been edging me the last two books about how Egon is the biggest, strongest, sweetest, loneliest orc in this fantasy world. I need him bad. April 3 cannot come soon enough y’all.
I've enjoyed the whole series so far but this book has been my favorite thus far of the whole series. Their has been something magnetic about Egon's personality his quiet strength and his hardened control that keeps you wondering what happened to you what forged the Warrior you are? This book did not disappoint. Egon's did not have the upbringing of his brothers. His was a harsher colder reality where he never fit in was in a constant state of vigilance and who found and protected a small human female. He loved her as a child and tried to keep her safe at all costs even the cost of his own life and happiness. Egon never thought to see her again. Lyric is a fierce and determined female. She been abandoned and had to rebuild her life more than once being an orphan In Kel' Vara will either kill you or make you stronger. Once as a child she had a protector someone she loved fiercely, but he disappeared never to be seen again. She hoped she prayed but 10 long hard years pasted and just as she was rebuilding her out of the mists Egon returns. Their reunion is filled with shock, surprise and hard truths about the time they've been apart. Both have lived harsh lives but could never forget each other. as their relationship repairs old wounds and new hope and love grows, evil is lurking and becoming stronger in each passing book. New details of horrifying plans of mad warriors and ancient magic being corrupted abound. Can Lyric and Egon repair their broken hearts, find the love , sense of purpose and home in each other or will it be ripped away from them? You need to read and find out ! I loved it and you will too! Highly recommend🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖
Not the story I was expecting and wanting. I wanted to see more of Egon’s angst in trying to accept that he was worthy of being loved. I skipped most of the story. 😢

I went into this thinking it could be a win, and I wasn’t disappointed. That being said, there were a few areas that hindered my experience and kept it from reaching 5 stars. So let’s go over those real quick before we get to the good stuff, shall we?
⚖️ Shortcomings • What probably bugged me most was the very noticeable repetition of the line “her fingers tracing the scar that ran from his temple to his jaw.” It lost its impact after being repeated too often.
• Some questionable wording choices, for example phrases like “the juncture between her thighs” felt more distracting than sensual.
• At about 40%, Egon starts calling Lyric “little bee.” Thankfully, it didn’t last, because cringey nicknames are not my thing. I’m mentioning it because it took away from my experience rather than adding to it.
• There were a few times I found myself confused, as if I had missed something. I’m not sure if it was me or the writing, but since it happened more than once, I suspect it had to do with the way certain passages were written.
• And finally, Goodreads lists this as erotica, which it definitely is not. There are four-ish intimate scenes: one short and light, two essentially closed-door, and only one explicit. In my experience I've found smut isn't particularly HP strongest writing quality. For the most part it starts with a kiss, then the kiss is deepened, some touching is added, that's usually when the clothes come off, and then the FMC is climaxing, and the scene is over. If you're asking my opinion HP, I would prefer you take your time with these scenes, draw them out a little more because you rub us of all the feels by cutting to the end like that. I digress... That fact that this isn't erotica wasn’t a problem for me, but I wanted to mention it because the classification doesn’t fit.
Now for the good stuff! Here’s everything I loved about this book:
✨ What I Loved This book gave me everything I look for in a romance. Dual POV, slow burn, emotional depth, scarred and vulnerable characters with a past, healing, found family, a big protective hero who is also gentle and self-sacrificing, and an independent heroine with a good head on her shoulders.
• Heartfelt Moments & Emotional Depth: The romance had a beautiful vulnerability, and the love between Egon and Lyric felt earned and deeply moving. Egon’s protectiveness and sacrifices showed just how much she meant to him.
• Their Backstory: Learning about their past added so much weight to their relationship. It gave real meaning and made their present connection feel rich and believable.
• Favorite Quote: “It wasn’t rejection,” he said. “It was the only way I knew to love you.” That line broke my heart in the best way.
• Side Characters & Found Family: Samha, the little boy, was absolutely adorable. I love children in books, and I loved how he idolized Egon rather than fearing him. Samha brought out a tender side to Egon that melted my heart. Amara, the goddess, though only present for a short time, was a hoot and brought much-appreciated humor to the page.
• Sweet Highlight: The memory of sneaking onto the merchant’s roof to “name the stars” touched me deeply:
“Do you remember the night we snuck onto the merchant’s roof?” she asked, her voice barely audible above the crackling fire. His eyes gleamed in the firelight. “To watch the summer stars.” “You knew all their names.” “I made most of them up,” he admitted with a soft chuckle. She smiled despite herself. “I believed every word.”
Egon’s only wish was to see Lyric happy, and that sweetness shone through and made me swoon.
💭 Final Thoughts The Orc’s Bonded Bride wasn’t perfect, but the heartfelt moments, emotional resonance, and themes of found family completely won me over. Egon was a protective, self-sacrificing hero with scars that only deepened the impact of his love for Lyric. The story balanced sweetness, tenderness, and even some much-appreciated humor. While the writing had a few shortcomings, the emotions at its core made this a story worth reading.
This was really cute but the background story is what really shines IMO! (Thought below).
PLOT: This book follows the third orc brother, Egon. Huge, scarred and grappling with loneliness and his difficult past, he sets out on a scouting mission to help his brothers and get away from the pain he feels at seeing their happiness. On his journey he finds Lyric, a friend from his past and their friendship rekindles into a deep love. With danger on the horizon and their worlds being threatened they journey together to help prevent the end.
THOUGHTS I HAD WHILE READING:
- this was REALLY cute. I really liked Egon's character. He's someone who's had a very traumatic and dangerous childhood that left him feeling alone and unworthy. His brothers love and accept him but he still feels like an outsider and while he's happy for them having found mates, it just reminds him of how alone he feels. I really like how we got a sense of past him from lyrics perspective, of how he used to be angry and quick to explode but he's mellowed into calm and a protective nature. He was just a total cinnamon roll lead.
- Lyric was ok but I kind of wanted more from her character you know? I have no idea what she looks like (is she tall, short, long hair short hair, skinny, buxom etc.) and the bits we see of her past are very general. All we really know is she's always been alone, has green eyes, she was a servant for a bit and inherited a cottage from the beekeeper lady and settled in the village she found along the way. We don't really get a sense of her as a person outside of her chores. I did like her visions and all that but we don't get a sense of if this is something she's used to, if it's happened before, is that special or unusual etc.
- the story is what really shines for me here. The threat of a king trying to take over and making mindless beasts who do his bidding. The villagers having to come together to face their prejudices. Different factions interacting and seeing the changes certain members are going through and questioning their loyalties. Two lonely souls coming together for a second chance at love, It was all really well done and I'm excited to see how the other books expand on this.
- maybe I'm just filthy but I wished the smut was wayyyyy more dirty and detailed. Like we're told he's huge by orc standards but the smut is very general. No trouble "taking him" or detailed scenes and it could have been SO much hotter with that element added. It's more of the thrust a few times, she comes it's over kind of a deal which is fine but I prefer more smut in my orc romance and kind of wanted to see the "beast" come out more.
I enjoyed this newest book in the Five Kingdoms series and the chance to get to know Egon better as well as the occasional scene with his brothers Wulf and Lothar. I enjoyed getting to know Lyric in this book and thought her and Egon made a nice couple and was glad with how things worked out for them. While this book can be read as a standalone since they each focus on a new couple but they are better when read as a series since they all connect and have another storyline in the background that continues as the series progresses. I am looking forward to reading Ulric & Jessamin's story in The Orc's Princess Bride: An Orc Fantasy Romance.
While I did like this couple, the overarching plot is what really saved this book, in my opinion. They did have some nice moments, but at the same time, I feel like something was missing—something I can’t quite put my finger on. I do like the fact that they met when they were younger, and this was kind of like a second-chance meeting. However, I wish we had gotten a point of view or a flashback of how they bonded when they were younger, rather than just being told about it. I think that would have helped us connect to the characters better and bond with them more deeply, as we would have experienced those moments with them and felt their emotions. Even if it was just two or three chapters about how they met, then him promising to fight to protect her, then trying to find her three years later, and everything she went through during that time—would have been short chapters that could’ve shown their journey and emotions in the past, which would have in turn showed us how strong their bond was and how it has matured now.
Here are some quotes that I thought were absolutely cute:
“You undo me, Lyric,” he murmured, his voice raw with need. “Everything I thought I knew—about myself, about the world—it’s all changed since I found you again.”
“You’re the home I never knew I needed.” “And I love you,” he echoed, his voice low and rough. “You’re the light that guides me.”
Now, I know what I said about the plot being the saving grace for this book, but there were cute moments like these two quotes that really show the sweetness in their relationship. She was his home. and he was hers. I just wish we had more of it.
As for the upcoming books, the next one is finally King Ulric's book, and I'm very excited about that. Since I started reading this series, I’ve been obsessed with the kind of arranged marriage and how they're actually falling for each other. I really want to see what happens next. I'm also curious about what's going on with Khorrek—the orc who tried to kidnap Jana, then let her go, and is now conflicted about blindly following King Lasserren's plan for domination, basically enslaving all the orcs. I also wonder why Jana is so important that his choice to be on their side—or not—could change the entire future.

The Orc’s Bonded Bride is the third book of the Five Kingdoms series that will entice the reader into joining in on the sweet, emotional, dramatic journey of it’s lead characters Egon and Lyric. Egon had become restless as he’d watched his brother’s Wulf and Lothar find their mates, and happiness. He wants the same but knows with his many scars any female would run the other way rather than mate with him, finding the Orc warrior unworthy. To ease the frustration and sleeplessness that plagues him a decision to leave for three months and try to uncover High King Lasseran’s plans for the five kingdoms was made.
From slum rat in Kel’Vara to beekeeper on a small plot of land in Norhaven Lyric had come a long way from the pain of her past. In some ways she’d been fortunate to have found the solace she now lived in, though memories would always creep back in at times of the one person who had meant so much to her, and then left.
Soon Egon’s travels bring him to a small village nestled in a valley and as he draws closer a scent on the breeze reaches into his soul, and when he sees the face of the woman who belongs to it… Lyric, the girl he’d known a decade ago in Kel’Vara now a woman.
Loved this second chance fantasy romance that was filled with beautiful writing, well crafted characters, spicy passion, political intrigue, vulnerabilities, mate bonding, revelations, and action, which infused this captivating adventure of two souls finding each other again, amid the turmoil of a mad king’s march towards war. A very satisfying story was well told, and I am looking forward to what comes next.

“She’d built a life from nothing, just as he had. Perhaps that was why they fit together—they were both familiar with broken pieces.”
Compelling, action packed story with believable characters that make you root for their happiness together. Egon, a scarred warrior Orc is on a mission to find out the nefarious King Lasseran’s plans by tracking Lothar through the Sentinel Mountains. He finds Lyric instead. They had grown up together on the rough streets of Kel’Vara. After they were separated, each have had a difficult road to travel. But now each have something good and truly meaningful in their lives - she a cabin bequeathed to her and he has found his brothers and their mates. But deep inside, they are deeply lonely and wish for a love of their own. And they both deserve happiness and are honorable and true not only to each other but to their families and friends.
But trouble is brewing as King Lesseran’s influence is now reaching Lyric’s small town. Lyric and the town she has grown to love are in terrible danger and she needs Egon more than ever. Would love to read Samha’s story when he is an adult. Awesome story in every way and can’t wait for the next book in this series!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
The MMC Egon is happy both his brothers have been blessed to find their mates but watching their joy is hard when he believes it is not something he will ever be blessed with. He’s a warrior, too big, too scary, too scared, too broken. Who would ever look at him with love and acceptance.
The FMC Lyric is a blast from the past, a chance encounter when Egon is a fact finding mission and they cross paths. Past and present meet, old hurts and betrayals are aired and it’s time to heal. Not everything is as it seems and maybe old connections were more than they were ready to accept at that age.
I was really looking forward to this book because I really wanted Egon to get his happily ever after, I like the ‘side plot’ of this book, the overall challenge the orcs are facing but I felt some of Egon and Lyric’s past was surface level. It could have gone deeper to give us more connection and I felt some of the writing became repetitive in sections. A little disappointing but still a good story and didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of these Orc men and what the future might hold. Just not my favourite of the series which is a shame because I love a misunderstood gentle giant MMC trope.
I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Egon and Lyric. Egon was large and scarred; burdened and haunted by his past and upbringing, broken and undeserving of a mate despite his loneliness- no matter if he brother is convinced otherwise. Lyric also had a hard path, and though she finally found a place of peace for herself, and were among kind people, she kept her distance emotionally and physically. Peace doesn't always last, and neither do safe havens. But she was very lonely.
I loved that these two shared a past rather than meeting as strangers. But sad for how they'd been forced apart. Though they were happy (and shocked) to see each other again, their reunion was also blanketed with pain but what had happened to them both and neither really knowing what had become of the other.
I really enjoyed the rekindling of their relationship and them slowly opening up. I was completely hooked. And the underlying danger and suspense made things exciting. 5 stars.
This is the story of Lyric and Egon, two characters who find each other after years apart and are able to reconnect and see past their differences in a world where Egon is viewed as little more than a beast by many and also how he views himself until Lyric helps him to see that she and others disagree.
Egon and Lyric must work together to help protect the people of her village and the greater world from destruction by the real villains and figure out the curse on the orcs.
Honey does an excellent job of weaving the plot and character development together. I read the book in one sitting. Another excellent chapter in the tale. This story can be read as a stand alone but it would be best if read in order as it builds on the preceding storyline. I am already anxiously awaiting the next book in the saga!!.

This is book three of a series. It is standalone with a wonderful HEA for Egon and Lyric. With a bonus of a very intense, interesting back story. I liked that both have a shared past, a second chance . Both in a way were broken, although Egon was more than broken. The old gods know what they are doing . I loved that Lyric saw Egon. Not his scars, but him. I liked the flow/ pace of the story. Well thought out with just the right amount of steam to the romance. Intense action throughout. The worldbuilding was very good. You can envision the village and cottage Lyric lived in. Her undying faith in Egon. His protectiveness of her. I also liked that past characters are mentioned. Wulf and Kari, Lothar and Jana Ulric and Jessamine.

Another amazing story . This is the third book in The Five Kingdoms realm series and what a doozy it is. Our main characters are unique. Egon and Lyric's story is without a doubt a miracle come true.
Egon is an male who feels unworthy. His life hasn't been the easiest and disrupted in many ways. This would make anyone feel jaded.
Lyric too has had a difficult life and her calm quiet existence is disrupted when a familiar face appears. The moment shatters her heart. Anger and fear are her only solace. Life threw them both a curveball and second chances seem unattainable.
This heart wrenching story hits all the right buttons. Honey knows exactly what her readers want and it's in this story in abundance.
Lyric always knew what was in her heart and so did Egon.....swoon 💜🔥💜.

There are books that pull you into the story so strongly that you can hear, see, and smell everything the author describes. This book is definitely one of them. Lyric and Egon were torn apart when they were young, not knowing what had happened to each other. Now, life comes full circle, and fate leads Egon directly to Lyric's cottage. There are evil forces at work, and they are caught up in it. This plot is so captivating and intense. The chemistry between Egon and Lyric ignites like dry leaves in the heat. It's an excellent book—it ends on a soft cliffhanger but ultimately concludes with Lyric and Egon's happily ever after.

This is an exciting orc fantasy romance. While each book features a different couple, there’s a lot of overarching plot that would be missed if you read these out of order, especially in this installment.
Egon, a scarred warrior orc and the MMC, is tired of being surrounded by his happily mated brothers. He sets out alone to investigate the dangerous plot threatening the peace of the kingdom. What he doesn’t expect is to run into Lyric, the human FMC, and his childhood friend.
Their second-chance romance is sweet and satisfying as they work together to unravel the dark forces at play.
A fun, spicy fantasy that ends with a bit of a cliffhanger leading into book 4, The Orc’s Princess Bride, scheduled for release in late July 2025.
Spice: 4/5 Plot:4/5 Writing: 4.5/5 My Enjoyment: 4/5
This was the story I have been waiting for or the three brothers. Egon is the scarred hero that is to big and to scarred and had a bad childhood. But he had some bright years it seems this story shows us his past that we wouldn’t have found out any other way. Lyric is a sweet but strong girl that is just perfect for Egon. They shared not only a past but the same type even though they had different experiences. I love how we are still getting pieces to the big picture with each book. The bad guy and his monster army. Khorrek is one of the pieces I want to look more into. I bet he has a very interesting story we need to have.
Lyric has weathered so much and now it's paying off. Her small plot of land has fruit trees, a large garden and her bee hives. She has everything she needs, right? Egon was orphaned young, ran the streets and protected other kids like him. Until he had to make a choice that tore them apart. As adults they have decided to be content with their lot in life, until they meet again. Now they must face danger, action, intrigue, secrets and politics, all while fighting for their second chance. Richly described characters and locations to guide the reader where Honey wants you to go. Great plot twists to keep you guessing. And steam.
Lyric and Egon have both found homes, but both feel like outcasts due to their pasts. They lived together as orphans, with the slightly older Egon being Lyric's protector. When they are separated, they never expect to cross paths again.
When they do cross paths, they both realize not only did they have a place to belong, but that they could find someone who could accept their pasts and move on with more in life than just getting by.
There is a lot of sweetness to the story, despite the fact that they are also battling a sinister force. The people they interact with are full of joy that makes the reader smile.
Book 3, this book focuses on Egon who is the third brother of the mc’s in book 1 and book 2. He believes he is too broken to ever find someone to love him and all his sharp edges. However, as he leaves his home and family to investigate more on the upcoming war and the enemy he stumbles upon Lyric. Lyric is someone from his past.
The book is all about second chances in life for both of them AND yes there is spicy moments. But if you want to skip that part you can without it affecting the plot. War is coming and I do hope none of the side characters are lost 😞
A sweet second-chance romance! I love this delightful romance entwined in an adventure of epic proportions! Moments of gripping action keep me waiting with bated breath until our favorites are out of danger. At first glance, Lyric and Egon would appear to be a mis-matched couple, but appearances can be deceiving. I love seeing their lost relationship rekindle into something vibrant and sure to be long-lasting. An excellent story, but the adventure is not over yet. Expect more in this world. I can’t wait!
The Five Kingdoms is such a wonderful place to visit, and add in the storylines and the HRA and I am always going to be sold. This story follows the a background storyline, but you could do it as a read alone also. Lyric being a beekeeper, is a genius choice for a profession and not often you read about the H being a beekeeper! Egon finally meeting his past love and them overcoming their past to go ahead for the future was so good to read!
I love this Author and this book just goes to show why!.

I love this series, but this one is my favorite! We got a look at Egon before, how he was tortured and felt different from his brothers, but this explains all of it. Good, bad, and ugly. This was different, deeper than the others but I loved it! It made me feel every emotion. If you love stories with found family, redemption, love, action, and a little magic, you need to read this! I do suggest reading the series in order though, to get the full story.

Third book in the series which is bringing the Five Kingdoms closer to war and some very dangerous warriors.
Egon left his brothers to try to find out what was going on. While traveling he finds Lyric whom he tried to protect when they were younger. He had to leave her so that she would be taken in and educated by a nobleman. He was not allowed to say goodby and she thought he had abandoned her. She was happy to see him but also still upset by his leaving. Over time they worked things out and worked together to learn about the bad guys. The story had a happy ending, but left me anxious for the next book.
Egon finally gets his mate and it was a great story. Egon and Lyric knew each other growing up. He protected and took care of her but then because of a decision they ended up going different paths but now they found each other again. I enjoyed how she saw past his scars to who he really was. The coming troubles play a part in the story and I am looking forward to see how that plays out. I liked the people in the villages and it would be nice to see them turn up again. It was a great story and I'm looking forward to more.
-A heartfelt second-chance romance set in a rich fantasy world. Lyric, a beekeeper, and Egon, her long-lost love, reunite amidst danger and adventure. Their journey is filled with action, steam, and emotional depth, making their bond feel genuine. A captivating orc romance with a perfect blend of tenderness and excitement. A wonderful setting.

Egon may be the biggest and strongest Orc, but his heart is the loneliest. Giving himself a mission to find out the mystery of the newest threat to his life, he rediscovers a lost love. Lyric was the one he protected and cared for the most and finding her in a place he never expected led to a second chance for a new hope. Featuring political machinations, secrets revealed and spicy passion, this third story in the series is sure to please.
Once again, this is another good one from Honey Phillips. Though it *could* be read as a standalone, I advise reading it in order. The flow is good, and the tension is just right… still building up to the big bad showdown. I found myself really rooting for the MCs…especially the MMC - he’s a gentle giant.

Egon is such a strong Orc and still feels so unworthy. Knowing all he did to try to protect Lyric in his past makes you love him even more. Their whole journey is such a revelation and we can see the pieces falling together and the stage is set. The old gods are at work shifting pieces on the chessboard so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Loved this story and this couple.
This author never disappoints! She pulls you into her worlds and doesn't let go until she's ready. Egon and Lyric grew up in an u forgiving city. When he left, she thought he had simply left her also. When they find each other years later, she discovers how wrong she's been all these years. Their connection from the past is still there and more. They also discover that she has a role in the war that is in their near future.
