On her sixteenth birthday, Cassandra is told by her fae guardians that she will soon meet her soulmate. When Eluned, beautiful and adventurous, arrives at the estate soon after, Cassy knows she must be the one. After keeping her fae connections hidden all her life, it is a relief to find someone to share them with and she takes Eluned into the sunken library of the Tuatha. But the library doesn't like intruders, and dark fate awaits humans who set foot there.

This is a short story in the Fae Queens' War universe, but has been written to be read as a standalone tale. The main character, Cassandra, is a younger version of the main character in Seeking the Light (upcoming FQW book 1). This story is free to newsletter subscribers , however this version contains an additional scene of an older Cassandra at a different fae library. This is a snippet from Seeking the Light and also features Jon, a cyborg empath and Cassy's boss with whom she is definitely not in love.
