Introduction Bound by Dreams is the fifth installment in the "Cauld Ane" series and wow has it been a long while since I have read these books here. But it was so wonderful to return to this world that this author has created. Now I do want to clarify that these books are also under a different author name, I guess the author decided to switch fully to her other pen name, but I don't like the covers so I am sticking with these, they just seem to resonate better with the stories themselves if I am being honest. So this story was so wonderful. It did have a couple of plot holes in the romance itself so there were parts that felt a bit rushed but overall was a solid fated mates romance. Its also one of those PNR's that doesn't fully feel like a PNR. It has a more contemporary feel to it with slight supernatural elements mixed in.
Summary Charlotte Whitmore is a aspiring actress, she has just left a bad relationship and ready to take on someone fresh and new. When she meets a fellow actor, it seems to just work and feel normal again. But when she starts to hear a voice in her dreams, which is of the infamous drummist in a Irish band that she has been fangirling most of her adult life she thinks he can't be real. Until he enters her life and claims that they are mates. Niall knows that Charlotte is his mate, but he must first woo her and convince her they are worth taking a chance on. What starts as a steady friendship turns into something more, but Charlotte's past will come to bite them and soon they will be caught up in a family drama and secrets that neither of them imagined...
My Outlook This story was so fantastic and highly entertaining. I am so happy that a fellow blogger was able to introduce me to these books here. So thank you Sophia Rose if you are reading this :P So I really loved this one because its literally our couple finding each other from their dreams. I love a good dream walker romance and this author handled this element so well. I do want to address my main issue with the story first before we get to the really solid workings of the book here. What I really struggled with was the heroine, she was a bit flakey when it came to relationships. Yes she is starting to date this fellow actor, but there isn't much spark just a nice attraction. But then her fated mate comes into her life, and they have been sharing dreams and she knows that there is more between them so what does she do? FRIEND ZONE HIM like girl you have been fan girling this man all of your adult life, your dream man comes into your life and wants to be with you forever and you friendzone him. It was just weird and then suddenly she was like lets mate haha There were just some of these relationship plot holes that didn't quite match up with the story. But once they got into the relationship than the rest of the story was super solid which is why its a solid 4 star read. Because even with my issue with the heroine being a bit flakey in the beginning, she does make up for it throughout the rest of the story. Now the hero was just delectable, I just loved him all the way through. We also have a bit of a mystery being introduced into this one and I can't wait to get into the next book so we can see who the 3rd sister is. Definitely intrigued to see where the author is taking this one.
I know I say it with every book I read from this author...but I loved it!!!!
I swear I am as addicted to this series as I am to her Dogs of Fire series and that's saying a lot as I wasn't sure this would be a something that would appeal to me.
Charlie is awesome. Life is not going as she planned. Her job sucks and her best friend moved across the ocean - and she's afraid to fly! You have to love her friendship with "Gary" it is so fun to read about. They laugh, cry and yell but through it all they are there for each other. Niall is still dealing with his unresolved issues with his brother Max but the bright spot is that he found his mate - he is meeting her in dreams. Once he finds out who she is and where she's at ... off he goes! What follows is a story that connects all our characters, has a suspenseful story happening in the US and introduces us to another part of the Cauld Ane history. I loved that Niall and Charlotte had something in common that none of the other couples had....it made me love him even more. I seriously wanted to keep reading....even when there was nothing more to read.
Sometimes after the first couple of books in a series I lose interest. Either the author doesn't introduce anything new and you feel like you're reading the same book over and over again or it just becomes unbelievable. That is not the case with Tracey's Cauld Ane Series. Yes, you do need to read the others before embarking on number five just so you don't miss key information about past events. There is just enough backstory to not bore you and new information and events that leave you wondering what's going to happen next.
I really enjoyed this book!!! Loved the romance between Charlotte and Niall!!! Loved how protective they both are of each other. I liked how protective Charlotte was over her sister. It was so crazy to find out Charlotte had a different mother and father and was full sisters with Pepper . And I am ready to read the next book in the series and finish this book series. Loved the suspense too in the book.
A great paranormal romance. Charlotte Whitmore meets Niall MacMillan in her dreams although she imagines it is just because she has a crush on him as the drummer in her favorite band. When she eventually can communicate with him through her dreams, he comes for her as he knows she is his fated mate.
Very confusing. Apparently this is a series & I missed that. It was hard following all the family & there is more coming. So I’m out of here. Just too much mystery family heritage for me to go into.
It was a slow start, but it picked up. I liked the first three books better so I'm hoping this next one has a better plot, it seems like it so I just got it.
Being a huge fan of Tracey Jane Jackson's Cauld Ane series, I bit my nails waiting for the release of BOUND BY DREAMS. Niall and Max MacMillan have become two of my favorite Caulde Ane characters. Max found his Grace back in BOUND BY SONG (an incredibly well done book, by the way) and I hoped for an equally passionate match for sensitive Niall. Well, I got that and much more.
Charlotte Whitmore is an aspiring actress who's returned home to Portland, Oregon after finding nothing but disappointment in Hollywood. Her personal life is in as rough shape as her career. After dating a famous actor who turned out to be an abuser, she's trying her luck with online dating, though her heart isn't in it. Her strange and troubling dreams don't help. She's been plagued by them since childhood, but lately they've begun to feature Niall MacMillan, drummer for Fallen Crown. He's been Charlotte's secret crush for a long time.
Okay. We know where this is going--Charlotte unwilling to believe that Niall is her fated mate, and Niall tripping over himself to overcome her doubts and defenses. Further complications arise when Charlotte's sister gets into serious difficulties related to a much older boyfriend, and Charlotte discovers a whopper of a secret about her own paternity. The implications of the latter will impact not only Charlotte but the whole race of Cauld Ane as well.
As usual, Jackson does a wonderful job building believable characters. Niall is much more cerebral than the other Caulde Ane men we've met. He's got the alpha qualities, sure, but he's a thinker also. He's not as raw and impulsive as his brother. He considers possible outcomes before he acts, which makes him a good match for Charlotte, who, despite her profession, is as level headed as they come. The relationship is a long, slow simmer rather than the boiling over we've seen in the other books. This requires a little more patience on the part of the reader, but it also allows time for the sub-plots to fully develop. This is a positive on two fronts. First, the situation concerning Charlotte's sister needs a slow build to reach the emotional height that it deserves without overwhelming the main story. Second, the subject of Charlotte's origins raises complicated questions that lead the entire series in a new direction.
The risk that come with packing so much into one book is that it makes heavy demands on the pacing. That's especially true in BOUND BY DREAMS, because it takes a while before Niall and Charlotte meet. Not long after they do, the sister story line blows up big time. That settled, Niall and Charlotte barely make it to Scotland before the implications of her paternity become something bigger. What ends up happening is that the conclusion of BOUND BY DREAMS becomes less of a smooth "wrapping up" centered around Niall and Charlotte's relationship and more of a lead-in to what comes next.
Despite the bumpy pacing, BOUND BY DREAMS is entertaining and full of tension. One things for sure, there are exciting times ahead for us Caulde Ane groupies.

This is book #5 in the Cauld Ane series and it is just as fun, exciting and new as the first book. I love the fact that the author can keep this series feeling new, can still keep the reader on the edge of their seats and makes them crave the next one in the series! Tracey has an amazing storyline going and each book is different than the last. She does do a small recap in each book, but it is best to start reading this series from the beginning to completely understand the whole plot and to fall in love with each character as you read about them. Each book I change my mind about which character is my favorite, because each book that details them as the main story more makes you want to love them even more - it's hard to pick a favorite when you want to love them all the same! I really enjoyed Niall from the previous books, and was excited about hearing more about his story, and I was not disappointed at all ~ his was really and truly one of my favorites! I love that his mate was Charlotte and that there wasn't just them falling in love, but that there was a subplot and a sub-sub plot (lol). Tracey didn't disappoint on the storyline and kept the reader guessing about what was going to happen next.
Author Tracey Jane Jackson takes the reader and places them right into the center of her stories. The reader becomes invested in the lives of the characters and feels like they are true friends right from the start of the book. She is able to make the reader feel like they are in the castle in Scotland or hanging out in Oregon with the vivid details that she paints for the reader. I enjoy learning more about the locations as well as the characters and there is nothing different about this book - she does everything just as well - if not better.
I highly recommend that you add all of this series to your TBR list! You will not be disappointed and after this one ends you will be on the edge of your seat wondering what could possibly happen next! The drama, angst and surprises are more than the reader bargains for, but not at all a negative - it's just the amount of twists and turns the book takes leaves you reeling and thinking about the book long after you have finished reading it. It is one of those mouth hanging open, eyes popped out of your head reads - yeah, it's that good!! Sit back and get started, you won't want to put it down for even a second! Enjoy ~

Note to my clean read and Christian friends: This book has plenty of profanity, sensuality, and sexual situations.
Okay, I really had high expectations after reading Max and Grace's story. I enjoyed the character of Niall in book #3 and continued to be a fan in book #4. I was very excited to find he had his own story...BUT...
The book started building a decent story foundation. We find Grace's friend Charlotte struggling with past abuse and a mediocre career situation, performing as a Disney princess actress and longing for a more attractive , steady, and higher paying position. When she is turned down for a prime part, Charlotte decides to move home and start over. Her mother is suffering from a divorce and trying to be more appealing than she should be. Her teenage sister is dating an adult male who has more sinister intentions than little sister realizes. Charlotte tries to "mother" her little sister, get her career going and tries to find companionship through online dating. In the middle of all of this we enter Charlotte's dreams of Niall. Charlotte thinks she dreams of Niall because she has always been a fan of his band, Fallen Crowns. What she doesn't realize is that in her dreams she is actually communicating with her "mate" (Niall) and he is trying to find her. Once Niall finds Charlotte however, her character seems to change to mercurcial, and the story line becomes choppier as the story progresses. The danger doesn't seem to get resolved and leaves you wanting for closure or at least answers. I like the basis for the book: the Cauld Ane legend and history and power struggles, and I know Ms. Jackson can build interesting characters, but in this book everything seemed choppy (as if she was making things up as she wrote the book) and then it fell flat. The dialogue did not always flow smoothly either, and much of it seemed to be filled with profanity and not integrity.
Needless to say I was disappointed with this story and maybe more because I had higher expectations for it. Will I read another Cauld Ane book? Maybe, simply because I have enjoyed some of the other books. Will I recommend this one to my GR friends? Not so much.
What if the man of your dreams proclaimed himself to be in love with you? But he is not just any man. No, he is Niall MacMillan the world famous drummer with Fallen Crown a Scottish Rock Band! This is the fifth book in the Cauld Ane series by Tracey Jane Jackson and it tells the story of a would be actress and her immortal dream man! In Bound by Dreams, Ms. Jackson unwraps an immortal world, a world that that has coexisted with mankind since the beginning of time. Her characters are so real, that as you read their story you will feel like you know them!
He is drawn into her dream, but it seems more than a dream. She is his lifemate! He has found her in his dreams after centuries of searching. Now he just has to find out where in the world she is. Something she says makes Niall realizes that she is the best friend of his brother’s mate. He can find her! But is he too late? Will she accept him, give him a chance? In her dreams, there is another that haunts her.
Charlotte cannot believe that she is dreaming of the man she has CRUSHED on for years. When he shows up telling her he wants to get to know her, date her, what’s a girl to do? There is no way Niall MacMillan could possibly be interested in her! Niall is persistent and continues to be there, not taking no for an answer. Danger is lurking and Niall will have to pull on all of his gifts as an immortal to protect and keep Charlotte safe.
Secrets are unraveled and questions are answered in this outstanding novel. The introduction of the Kalt Einn race is a perfect tie with inferences made in previous books. Cannot wait to read more to find out where Ms. Jackson is taking her characters next!
Hero: Niall MacMillan 5 stars Heroine: Charlotte Whitmore 5 stars Steam: 5 stars Plot: 5 stars Cliffhanger: No

I have been waiting for Bound by Dreams and Niall's story for awhile and have to say that I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed it!
Charlotte is an aspiring actress who was having no luck in California and decided to move back home. Niall knows that his mate is living in the U.S. but has not clue who she is or where she lives. Charlotte has a unique gift that pulled Niall into her dreams while he's awake and he was able to finally find her. The huge plus? His new sister-in-law, Grace, happens to be her best friend.
Niall heads to the U.S. and has a hard time getting close to Charlotte at first. She had a bad encounter with her ex-boyfriend and has a hard time trusting men. But Niall is so patient and, even though it kills him, he's willing to be friends first. He gets her to see that not only can she trust him but also that he's not going anywhere.
Like Bound by Song, this was also on the emotional side but there is a bit of action and some tough topics that were brought into the story line. The mystery and plot twists were unexpected and I never saw any of them coming. You are definitely kept on your toes.
One theme that seems to happen in all the books in this series is that all our heroines are feisty little firecrackers and I love it! They know that their mates are all alpha males but they refuse to sit back and do nothing when it comes to helping their family and friends who are in need.
The Cauld Ane series just keeps getting better and better! I can't wait to see where the next book takes us!
And of course I can't forget my casting!
Content: Depending on the reader... Sketchy Clean. Mild to moderate language. Mild to moderate innuendos. Fade to black.
Once again Tracey has hit one of the park with this book, number five of her Cauld Ane Series . I loved the book. Niall and Charlotte's story had me pulled into the book and I couldn't put it down! I was finding that the Scottish brogue was rolling off my tongue and I was actually hearing Nialll talk while reading the book. I wanted him to be living and breathing for sure! The book was a fast read and totally one I enjoyed. I've always loved Tracey's books and some how missed reading number four of the series. I wouldn't have known it though as all of her books are totally easy to pick up the stories as stand alone books, but the series is great to read in order as then you feel like you are back with old friends when the characters from past books are brought into the stories. I have to say that I do totally enjoy Tracey's Cauld Ane Series and recommend it highly!

I first became addicted to the Cauld Ane when it was the clean version. It was exciting. It was unique. The story building was amazing. Then Piper Davenport spiced up the story. It was just enough to create a whole new addiction.
Niall MacMillan has been alone a long time. On top of that he feels as if he can not trust his brother, his bandmate, his best friend. Niall is lost and alone except in his dreams.
Charlotte Whitmore has been experiencing weird dreams for as long as she can remember. She is sharing dreams with a sad and lonely Scotsman. Dreams are one thing. Reality is a totally different thing. Charlotte refuses to believe that Niall is her destiny, her mate.
Niall has his work cut out for him. A quick trip to the United States isn't going to be enough. Just telling Charlotte the truth will have her running. He has to woo her and convince her that she is the one for him. And when an unknown enemy steps into the picture anything can happen.
True romance and finding love is weaved throughout the story. The relationship between Niall and Charlotte slowly builds allowing the reader to enjoy the road to love. The uniqueness of the Cauld Ane always adds a uniqueness to the characters. Add in the thrill of suspense and you have a story worth reading again and again. I know when this series is complete I will be having a wonderful binge read.
I am in love with the Cauld Ane Series. Each book is unique but keeps the core values that make each male character so strong and captivating.
In this fifth installment, we dive deeper into Naill feelings. Naill has been alone for a long time and more recently discovered his brother has been lying to him for years. This has really shaken Naill.
Charlotte an aspiring actress whose career isn't going how she planned it. Add to that a past trauma involving a high profile actor and now she is having weird dreams and hearing a single voice. It adds up to our heroine feeling like she is losing it.
When Naill heads to the states for a quick trip and meets his mate Charlotte he quickly learns winning her heart won't be easy. But Naill is willing to do whatever it takes to make his mate his own even if that means waiting and be patient.
I fell in love with Naill from the first moment he was introduced and getting to know him in this book only sealed that affection. He is kind, patient, and loving. He is everything a hero should be. Charlotte is wonderful as she is feisty. Together they are a wonderful couple.
I thought for sure by the fifth book I would lose interest but Piper ha a way of writing that brings her audience something new with each book. She has captivated me with this series and I am excited to continue my journey with her and these immortal Vikings.
Charlotte is best friends with Grace, and Niall is the brother of Grace's mate, Max (from Bound by Song). Charlotte is also a long time fan of Max and Niall's band, Fallen Crown. Charlotte is an aspiring actress, who's not quite making it in LA. She decides to move back home to Vancouver, WA to be with her family. She also thinks she's going crazy, because she keeps hearing voices. And having strange dreams. And those feelings of crazy just get stranger when her dreams manifest themselves..... in the form of Niall, the famous drummer of her favorite band. I was drawn into this book right from the beginning. Charlie is my favorite kind of heroine.... kickass, no nonsense, take no crap. She rocks! And Niall! Totally swoon-worthy! He is gentle, and patient with Charlie, even when it goes against his wishes! Add in International intrigue, long lost family, mysterious strangers, and family drama, this book had it all! I've loved all of the Cauld Ane books so far, and each one has been better than the last! Each story can stand on its own, but there is an underlying drama that continues from book to book. This series is definitely on my recommend list for anyone that likes paranormal romance and is looking for something a little different. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Bound By Dreams is book 5 in the Cauld Ane series and is about Niall and Charlotte. I love this series, and though they can technically be read as standalones, I highly recommend reading all of them to have a good grasp on the storyline and all the wonderful characters.
Niall is the drummer for the popular Scottish rock band Fallen Crown. When he was in the states helping his brother Max, he felt the presence of his true mate but didn't have time to look for her then. He has been reaching out to her when he "feels" her, but he can't get her to respond.
Charlotte is an actress and was living in Los Angeles until recently coming back home to Vancouver, Washington. She has been hearing a voice talking to her every once in a while, but thinks it's caused by the stress of her acting career coming to a quick halt, along with all her personal stress. Then she starts dreaming that she's seeing and talking to her teenage fantasy man, Niall MacMillan. What she doesn't realize is that she is his mate and she's actually pulling him into her dreams.
What follows is another great romance in the Cauld Ane series that also brings about more secrets, new "gifts" for the women, and introduces us to another group of characters. I'll admit I was a bit upset that this story was kinda left on a cliffhanger, but it just made me that much more excited for the next book. Bring it on!

I said I was going to read this one slower to savor it, but yeah that didn't happen. I have loved Niall since he was first introduced and I have been really excited to read his book. He was definitely the peace keeper in his previous appearances until he and Max have a big falling out. Now he is angry and has no interest in "making up" with his brother, however that is very hard to do when he discovers his mate is none other than his brother's wife/mate's best friend. I love that Charlotte is a no nonsense kinda girl and it's absolutely hilarious to watch how they communicate to each other and she thinks she is going crazy. She keeps hearing his voice in her head and in her dreams and literally thinks she is going nuts. She has had a big crush on Niall for a really long time and because her best friend, Grace just married his brother she thinks at first that is why. She goes through quite a few hilarious moments. Once again Ms. Jackson has brought us something fresh and new and still keeping us guessing to the very end. Can I just be bound too??? This whole series is beyond amazing!! There are quite a few twists that I did not see coming and am super excited to see what happens next. Another 5+++ AMAZEBALLS stars!!
I went back and forth on the rating for this book, for me it landed about a 3.5 star rating. I love the author and I love this series. This book was my least favorite in the series. I love Niall and have been waiting for his story; however, I really didn’t connect with Charlotte. I love peaking in on the other characters I’ve come to love and the series is still one of my favorite. While part of a series, each book is a full story of the couple the book focuses on, which I really love – I don’t care for reading a series with cliff hangers where you HAVE to read the next one or you don’t get a full story – just a personal preference. This is the only book in the series where I felt like it wasn’t complete. To get the full story of Charlotte and Niall I feel like I have to read the next book – not a hardship as I would read it anyway since I love all the other books in the series. Overall this was still a good read for me but not the fantastic read I’m used to from the author. I’d still highly recommend the series to other readers!
I received a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review of the book.
This fifth book in the series continues the ongoing tale of the Cauld Ane with the other Macmillan brother Niall and his fated mate Charlotte, who happens to be the best friend of Niall’s sister-in-law. The trajectory of their relationship is a slower build which is surprising given that she’s already 25 when Niall finds her. Once again the continuity of the mythology is a off as in the first three books the women were indisputably pulled to their mates immediately and in these last two books both women resisted for quite a while.
Once we finally get the main characters together the intrigue in the story begins. Warning here, this book ends on an obvious cliffhanger unlike previous books. While the main romantic relationship is solidly established the storyline re Charlotte and another character’s background is up in the air. Some pieces of the puzzle the reader will put together quickly...much more quickly than the characters in the book which makes no sense...these people aren’t idiots. Other pieces we don’t have yet. The next book is really going to have a lot of ‘splainin to do!
Tracey Jane Jackson did it again, I said I was going to take my time reading it. That did not happen. Charlotte is an amazing character, she kicks butt. The way Niall and Charlotte can communicate is amazing and funny. Charlotte thought she was going crazy. She kept hearing niall's voice in her head at different times. As soon as she would fall asleep she would bring Niall in to her dreams and talk with him, she could also see what he was seeing. Niall found that strange he didn't know how she was doing it or how it was possible. charlotte went on a date and the guy drugged her drinks and tried to take her, without success. Niall came and saved the day. After that Niall and Charlotte were un separable, There love blossomed quickly. Then Vandi Charlotte's younger sister was kidnapped. That's when all hell broke lose. Then the man from Charlotte's dream appeared in the mist of all this mess. So much stuff happens in this story its unbelievable, I loved it and can't wait for the next book to come out.
We first met Charlotte Whitmore in Bound by Song, the fourth entry in the Cauld Ane series. The best friend of Grace, book four's heroine, Charlotte is an aspiring actress struggling to make it in Los Angeles. Frustrated by her floundering career, she returns home to the Pacific Northwest to try and make a new start. The only thing making it difficult are dreams that continue to intensify....they just seem so real.
Drummer Niall McMillan knows that the woman in his dreams is his destiny; the one true mate fated for every Cauld Ane. Discovering that she is his new sister-in-law's best friend only makes it easier for him to track her down. When he shows up on Charlotte's doorstep, she can't believe that the famed rock star she has had a crush on for years is actually there to see her...and he has a crazy story. Can Niall convince Charlotte that her dreams are real and that they are meant to be together forever? Add in some crazy twists that I never saw coming, and you have another fabulous story from Piper Davenport! 5 stars!
