Jake Stone has always been an outsider, even in his hometown. As the misfit son of the town drunk and a descendant of Fortune’s mysterious founders, he’s spent his whole life not living up to expectations. So when Apple Woodman comes poking her pert little nose around his business, trying to sniff out juicy bits for a book she’s writing on the town’s history, he decides he’s had enough. He’ll give her the answers, at a price: one piece of clothing for every question. If the town’s good girl librarian wants the dirt on this bad boy then she’s going to have to bare all to get it.
Nothing is going to stop Apple from achieving her dream of being a published author, not even surly Jake Stone. She’s got a hefty advance to make good on and a looming deadline, and the last bit of crucial information she needs is being held hostage by the infuriating man. But Apple believes in equality between the sexes and she’s not going to be the only one playing along—he’s going to have to take it all off too. They’re only clothes; it’s not like they’re baring their hearts. Right?

If you're looking for a funny, heartwarming series then Fortune Colorado is the one for you. I'm so loving it. The second book in the series, Talking Dirty is even better then the first. I couldn't put it down.
Talking Dirty (love the title) is about Jake Stone, talk about a man with secrets. Even those that are the closest to him don't know them, and Apple Woodman. I love Apple, she is so funny and loves or at least likes, all those around her.
These two have been close to each other for what seems like forever but have never been more then just friends. They are both blind to what's in front of them. Or at least Jake is. As much as he wants to be with Apple he's keeping secrets (right or wrong) about why he can't be with her. When you read the story you'll understand more. I don't want to ruin anything for you.
The only negative I have about the story is that at times I felt that Apple handled things childishly. She reacted very badly when she should have understood that what happened before she came into Jake's life (their romantic relationship, not friendship) wasn't something he did personally to her.
Other then that, the story is wonderful and very funny at times. It's also touching too. Made me tear up more then once. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Francamente.

What’s it About?Librarian Apple Woodman is determined to publish her book on the history of her hometown of Fortune, unfortunately she needs information about the founders only their descendant Jake Stone can provide. And he’s not providing it. Jake wants to keep his family secrets buried but with Apple being so persistent Jake has no choice but to answer her questions, but his cooperation comes with a price. For every question Apple asks she has to take off an article of clothing. He thinks it’s the perfect plan to get her off his back, until she not only agrees but turns the tables on him. If she has to strip, so does he.
Describe the hero in five words: Secretive. Charming. Lonely. Selfless. Caring. Did you like him? Yes. Why? Despite being an outsider in a town he grew up in, Jake never turned down an opportunity to help those in need. He was a good guy that had more than a few skeletons in his family closet but did his best to be a good person. He was so selfless when it came to those family secrets that he was willing to give up any chance of happiness just so he wouldn’t burden anyone with those secrets. I admired that about him, especially when his family secrets came tumbling out.
Describe the heroine in five words: Intelligent. Determined. Snarky. Selfish. Childish. Did you like her? For the first half of the story yes but by the end absolutely not. Why? I genuinely liked Apple in the beginning. She was smart, a librarian (Yay book lovers), and she loved her hometown something fierce. She didn’t let Jake always have the last word and I always love that in a heroine. However, I found her one track baby mind to be annoying to say the least. I got that she wanted to have kids but to put that as the end all, be all goal over someone else’s very real fears and concerns made her fifty kinds of selfish and mean. On top of that, once she found out the reason behind Jake’s distant behavior (Which was a very real, heartbreaking one), she made it seem like it was NOTHING and that her dreams of having a baby were more important than his concerns. I just could not like her after that. She was unfair to Jake and downright mean. Yet, at the end HE apologizes to HER. For what I’m still not sure because he didn’t do anything wrong. That he kept his family history from her, uh yeah I would to. That’s not something you just blurt out after sex. By the end of the book I wanted to slap this girl.
How convincing were the main characters as a couple? Again, the first half I had no problem with. Jake and Apple had some serious chemistry and the town of Fortune sounded interesting enough even if the residents can be a little bland now and again. It was the second half that ruined the connection I was building with Jake and Apple. The way she behaved and her single mindedness was over the top and threw me out of the story and I couldn’t get back into it.
Is there a “Scooby Gang” worth mentioning? Jake has two friends, Aiden and Sean. Aiden is Apple’s cousin and the two are very close which tends to divide Aiden’s loyalties. Jake is his best friend but Apple is his cousin. These two were interesting and sometimes provided the comedy that was needed when things got too serious.
How “Lost” did you get in the story? I thought Talking Dirty was going to be an easy going contemporary romance but Jake’s history made it a bit more than that. I liked the direction it was headed and had it not been for Apple’s incredibly selfish attitude I would have enjoyed this book immensely because of the seriousness of Jake’s story. I also found the ending to be unbelievable in terms of conflict resolution. It was a little too tidy for me.
Click It or Skip It? Skip It. Apple was a complete turn off for me. Her one track mind and selfish attitude just killed my enjoyment of the last part of the book. Jake should not have been the one to apologize for something he couldn’t help. A good plot is important but when one of the main characters is like Apple it ruins the whole thing. I would definitely pick up another book by this author though since I did like the overall plot, as well as Jake, Aiden, and Sean.
It's been awhile since I've read anything by this author, and I felt like I remembered enjoying her work in the past so I decided to pick this one up. Not a terrible read, but not my favorite either. It was kind of cheesy in places and the dialog when they were getting down and dirty felt off. Also, I feel like there was a tiny little thing that was never resolved. Nothing important to the story line, but something mentioned more than once. Overall I just kind of feel "meh" about this and I don't really care enough to check out more of the series.
Thank you to Avon and Edelweiss for the advanced copy in exchange for my unbiased review
What could possibly go wrong with a game of strip questions? Two people might find each other in a way they never knew. Apple is writing a book and Jake has the answers, but he won't budge on answering so Apple can finish her book before deadline. These two have known each other since they were kids so why is Jake being a jerk? There are secrets and Jake promised to keep them from Apple, but the more time they spend together will he tell her what she needs to know or keep the secrets? Jennifer's writing is well though out and flows flawlessly. She brings you characters that you want to be while reading her story to see if there will be a happy ending. She brings suspense as well plus some humor. She brings you the hawt guys and the sexy curvy girls with sexy girlfriends. I cried and laughed while Apple and Jake entertained me and that's how it's suppose to be when an author writes, he/she draws you in till the end. Great job Jennifer can't wait to read more about Fortune, Colorado and the rest of the Bachelors. **Reviewed for Sweet and Spicy Reads, ARC provided in return for honest Review**
Jake and Apple have known each other since they were three years old. And over the years there has been a love-hate relationship brewing. Now years later Apple finds that Jake holds the key to making her dreams come true but the man is just as infuriating as he was as a teen. Why can't he just tell her what she needs to know for her book and move on.
Jake has always had a thing for Apple and the older she gets the hard it is for him to resist. So when Apple comes to Jake needing information about his family history for a book she is writing, Jake decides to throw caution to the wind. He never thought she would take him up on his offer.
Years of walls start to crumble when the two find that their seems to be more love than hate under it all. Now if they can only keep the town gossips from going wild with their imagination and if Jake can still have Apple without telling her his family's biggest secret of all.
I really liked Jake... the town's golden bachelor, that ever girl in town wants a piece of and Apple the town librarian and daughter of the town hippie. These two are sweet yet steaming together and their banter from being life long frenimies is a lot of fun.
It's been a while since I read the first book in the series where I was first introduced to Jack and Apple. They've never been anything but friends, but they sure know how to push each others buttons. I was really surprised that no one in town realized that all of their bickering was actually them fighting their feelings and all that chemistry between them. Things start to change between them when her quest for Jake to give her his family's history turns into a game of strip questions. Apple is a forever kind of girl who dreams of the perfect husband and lots of babies, while Jake is known for jumping from one girl to the next. Apple is the only woman who has ever made him want more, but his family secrets may cost him the woman he loves. There was fun and laughter, hot and sexy moments, and lots of feels in this one. I enjoyed coming back to Fortune, Colorado and the Bachelors of Fortune.

Fortune, Colorado is a place that I'll have to visit more often. Ms. Seasons gifts readers with standout performances, unique characters and a town that is as mysterious as it is endearing. My favorite character is Apple like her name, she can be tart, sweet and full of surprises, but she never strays far from being true to herself. Jake is the keeper of many secrets and unpleasant memories. His spirit may be troubled but his bad boy rep disguises a man with a lot of love to give. Talking Dirty throws out some serious shade in order for an important point to be made. Jake and Apple refreshing blend of emotions that master naughty, inspiring and funny.
Such a beautiful story! Jake and Apple drive each other crazy and they have for 20 years. But she needs his help to write her book and he's not about to miss out on time spent with her. Jake is a great character, he's a playboy who loves his family and friends and Apple most of all. Apple is a shy librarian who longs for a family. Such a great read!
I've been waiting a long time for this one and maybe my expectations were too high. This was just an ok read for me. Definitely not as good as the first Fortune book. Apple and Jake were great characters but it seemed to take too long for their story to develop.
Liked the premise but I wasn't engaged by the characters, perhaps because the pacing was very slow. I also found some of the dialogue quite cheesy. I also wasn't really interested in knowing so much about the book Apple was writing. This was a DNF for me.
