Hot but full of missed opportunities for some good relationship development.
The moments were there, it’s just long enough to have at least a couple of them, but they got passed over in favor of the characters’ internal agonizing.

I revived an ARC for this and first time reading both of these authors.
The writing is well done and makes me want to read more from both of these authors especially the Masked Men Series. The spice woah the spice so well done and hot! Mellie and her men *fans self*. Love the plot of her being able to finally live out her fantasies and the way her men did it. I'm always here for a good friends to lovers and add in why choose and mm and I'm definitely here for it.

No lie, the author/mom notes in front of these make me laugh. I kinda love the dichotomy of a mom-side saying "absolutely don't do this thing" and an author-side saying "yeah, absolutely get your freak on with this thing". Anyway. Be safe and don't do the thing, but totally feel free to read about the thing.

Masked men. Primal play. Why choose. Friends to lovers. It had the bones of something feral and it was a fun time but I can’t lie— like most novellas, it fell a little short for me. The relationship development opportunities for these characters could have made for something so much
more.
Instead it kind of skimmed the surface and rushed through what could’ve been something really good.
Still, if you're in the mood for something quick, spicy and devoid of anything substantial, you’ll probably like it.

I loved this super spicy Valentine’s Day themed read! I breezed through it so fast, not wanting to put it down, and HAVING to know what happened next. Jaye has such a brilliant way of building each character so differently and making you fall for each of them for their differences.

I’ve been really enjoying this Masked Men series by Jaye Pratt, and this installment was co-written with Samantha Barrett, another author I enjoy. Since this one revolves around Valentine’s Day, I made sure to read it around that time (or at least close to it), which made it even more fun going in.
Unfortunately, this one wasn’t my favorite. I’m not sure if that was because I listened to it on audio, since I usually read these but it just never fully hit for me.
The premise was cute and fun, but there were a few too many moments where I wanted more depth and intensity, and it ended up feeling a bit lackluster. The three male characters blended together at times to the point where I occasionally struggled to distinguish who was who. I did really enjoy that two of them were already boyfriends, that’s always an element I love to see!
If I remember correctly, there’s really only one full moment where they’re all together, and I wish that discovery had happened earlier so we could’ve gotten an even more epic, scorching epilogue. We do get one, but it just didn’t quite land for me this time.
That said, even though this one was just an okay read for me, there are still strong elements here that might be exactly what someone else is looking for so I wouldn’t completely pass it up.

Apparently, you black out the memory of signing up for a LOVE ISLAND MEETS SAW kinda dating show until they email you and go: “Congrats, you’re in!” And instead of running for the hills? You show up, overshare everything, and confess you’ve got a monster crush on all your besties and a thing for sexy anonymous masked men.
At that moment, I paused, raised my hand, and screamed into the void:
“OH HEYOOO, IT’S ME—RYN—WHERE DO I SIGN UP FOR THIS SHOW!?”

The writing? Unfiltered, chaotic good, like Jaye Pratt dumped glitter and chaos in a blender and hit “max speed.” I laughed, I screamed, I re-read spicy scenes with squinty eyes and a hand over my mouth. Imagine getting chased by pink-glow masked men and instead of running, you’re like… “Yesss, take me against the wall.”

Friends to Lovers is such a great trope. I know it isn't as dramatic as some of the others, and I do believe friends can just be friends, but, man it is such a great foundation for more when that is what both (or in this case all four) want. The value of friendship over s€x is a beautiful piece of respect... but once these men let go... they let go. And sigh all the dreamy sighs. Similar to Are You Scared this isn't dark, so if you are looking for mask play and a bit of primal, but nothing too wild, this is a fun series to explore.

I really liked this one. I went it to it, looking for spicy, and I definitely got that. I liked Millie, but it was a little weird that she didn't even question it when she figured out it was Storm, Zayne, and Julius behind the masks. The boys were just great, period. You could feel the love they had for each other.

in the first 10 pages of this book, one of the guys is described as having a “sexy snail trail” instead of a “sexy happy trail” and that right there is basically all you need to know about how sexy the book is in all.
and by that, i mean not at all. don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of sex. it’s basically all sex. but none of it is sexy. there’s no sensuality or sexual tension or buildup. and this isn’t about “kink vs vanilla” or whatever, which seems to be a weird focus in the beginning of the book. it’s just the fact that like…every sex scene starts with maybe a page of chasing and then two paragraphs of sex and then everyone’s coming and it’s the best sex in the world. it’s just so quick and repetitive and boring.
all four of these characters have the same inner voice and inner monologue. they’re functionally indistinguishable from one another. and they all talk and think like 16 year olds. now don’t get me wrong, i’m no prude, nor am i averse to cursing. but you know how teenagers all of a sudden start throwing curse words into every sentence for no reason? that’s how this book feels. even when nothing is happening, their internal monologues all read like basically “i dunno what the fuck i want for breakfast. there’s orange juice in my fridge but i hate that shit.” (no, that’s not a direct quote, but it’s the vibe of basically the entire book.)
the most interesting thing that this book touches on is that mellie seems to be a little repressed and shy about her sexual interests. and this book could’ve done something really fun by dragging that out and making it the focus, making her confront her desires and come to terms with the fact that they want her to explore these things. we get one sentence of one of the guys (i finished this book 5 minutes ago and i’ve already forgotten who it was) saying something about her not being ashamed of what she wants, but aside from that, there’s really nothing else about this even though it could’ve been a really fun back-and-forth about this.
the one thing that i actually liked about this book is that at least these characters are all best friends and clearly care about each other very deeply and have done so for as long as they’ve known each other. it adds a level of concern for one another that is sometimes lacking from these short “sexy” novellas that manages to leave them feeling particularly cold and disinterested, and this book doesn’t do that.
