I absolutely loved the cover of this Love Inspired book. That's why I chose to read the book. It's the first time I've read a story by this author . A goodreads friend recommended Glenna Kaye to me and I will be reading more of her books in the future.
Cory Hawk and Paris Perslow have known each other since elementary school. The two came from different backgrounds. Paris came from a privileged life with parents that were loving and excepted socially. Cody came from the other side of town. Though he had a good mother who loved him, his father was an alcoholic and physically abusive to both Cody and his mom. Even though they had nothing in common the two kids were friends and Cody was very protective of Paris.
Years later Cody ran away from home but before he did he confessed to Paris his love for her and asked her to go with him. She refused to go with him and he left town without her angry and bitter. Now years later he's back in town. A Family situation has bought him home again. Paris , who would have been married if her fiancee hadn't been killed in an automobile accident, has moved on with her life. Till the two run into each other and the story begins to unfold. Years have passed . Things have changed in both Cody and Paris' life. Can they go back to where they left off or is it too late to reclaim what they once had?
I enjoyed the characters in this story. They were Christians but not without their share of mistakes and personality hang ups. Pride sometimes got in the way too. I was very much drawn into the story and enjoyed the spirit of Christmas though out the pages.
For all readers who enjoy Christian fiction or contemporary romance. For those who enjoy Love Inspired Romances, this book is a must for you. I hope you will make it a part of your Christmas reading schedule.
I borrowed an ebook copy from hoopla. I was not asked to write a review. All opinions expressed and shared here are my own.

"Forgiveness and finding peace with oneself are key themes. The character development is strong, especially with Cody, in this enjoyable read" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

Cody Hawk has a bad boy reputation in Canyon Springs. But, the reputation is not his doing, he is only a bad boy because his father and stepbrothers were and he is included by default. When he returns home to help his mom out while his dad is in the hospital he finds himself working on a Christmas Gala project that his mom had promised to do but now she spends so much time at the hospital she can't.

Upon his return he runs into Paris Perslow, the now grown up girl, he has loved since grammar school. He assumes she has married and moved on. However, her father is still protective of her and wants Cody to stay away. While Paris is pursued by other men she only has eyes for Cody and together they begin to rely on God to keep them sane and happy.

Through much interference they find their way and life comes together to make everyone happy.

The entire town seems to be against them. Her father has threatened him to stay away from his daughter. Will they get a second chance at love? A nice little romance.

Love to last! Cody Hawk took up for little Paris Perslow when they were children and has always loved her. But Cody was from the "wrong side of the tracks" and Paris was among the privileged in Canyon Springs, Arizona. You will enjoy the story of what happens when Cody returns to Canyon Springs twelve years later!

Canyon Springs, AZ
Book 7

In what may very well be the final book taking place in this wonderful fictional town, the author weaves a story together about two friends who find more than friendship in spite of their parents' There was a lot of great conflict in this story. Even though Cody's father has had a stroke, there is still a lot of tension left over from his father's sour disposition and fits of rage where he abused his mother and son. Meanwhile, there is plenty of tension between both Paris and her father - and Cody. Paris' father doesn't think Cody's good enough for his daughter and orders them to stay away from each other.

*Small spoiler below*
Even though the author tries to redeem Mr. Perslow and his actions/attitudes, I just could not like this many in the end. What he did to Cody during the gala was just beyond comprehensible. I think he needed to be forgiven, but not quite so quickly...

The romance was very special. The book was pretty light on the Christmas theme, making it a good book to read any time of the year...

A heartwarming story about two young people reunited over unfortunate circumstances. Paris Perslow is from a privileged family and Cody Hawk is is the bad boy who was forced to leave the woman he loved behind.

Cody returns to the small town of Canyon Springs, Arizona to face his ailing father and try to come to a sense of peace with his past.

Even after 12 years the townsfolk still are disapproving and gossip. But Cody asks the Father our God for his guidance. He's determined to have a second chance at love and forgive himself as well as forgive others.

A great way to start off your holidays with Love Inspired Romance with a bit of FAITH too!

Mix an upcoming Christmas with Cody Hawk, a handsome bad boy come back home because of his father's stroke and Paris Preslow, the town beauty and rich girl with bad blood between her dad and his (for reasons not disclosed until later) and sprinkle with "first love" dust. Shake vigorously for a heartwarming tale with the Christmas spirit.

Bad boy Cody and privileged girl Paris meet again when Cody returns to Canyon Springs after his father has a stroke. They loved each other, of a kind, when they were teenagers. But Cody left with a big chip on his shoulder - which is still there. This book tackles lots of issues with honesty, so hold on.

I enjoy reading Love Inspired books. High Country Holiday by Glynna Kaye is a very good book. Cody Hawk moves back to his home town and runs into his old girlfriend. Lots of history between the two. Cody got a reputation for being a bad boy. Can he make up for his past with his ex-girlfriend, family and friends. A good book. A must read.
