Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

That’s me reading Kim Lawrence’s new book, One Night with Morelli!!!
You see, it had me all over the place………..I just couldn’t get these two MC’s!! They were just so off the wall from the usual M&B characters.

Let’s see it I am able to make some sense here…..

Draco Morelli is a gorgeous Italian millionaire..
 photo Phoenix72012_DavidGandy2_zps86da0441.jpg
and yes, he’s a ruthless guy, alpha-male but he has this side to him that is totally endearing. He’s a fabulous father to his teenage daughter (such a lovable secondary character), he’s never mean to his horrible slutty ex-wife..in fact he stays friends with her for the daughter’s sake, he’s not jaded and cynical despite past relationships with women..and yes, he doesn’t do relationships or love…now, he only does photo tumblr_mpqgmr7p5O1ri5s7go1_250_zps83183f7f.gif
You are getting the idea that I like Draco???

Now about Eve Curtis….she’s like this gorgeous and sexy redhead photo 7da3447e9c9c275e01d518172d48af2d_zps47ed9b57.jpg but wait, she thinks that she’s not!!!! How that is possible for someone who is totally independent and owner of a sexy underwear designer company just blows my mind…yes, sexy underwear…something like Victoria’s Secret… photo vs-multiwaybra_zps677bf342.jpg But then she doesn’t trust men…look what happened to her mother!!! Falling pregnant with Eve when she worked for some rich sod, who told her to get an abortion, she’s now marrying her new boss because she’s pregnant. You kind of understand Eve’s idea of men….not for her…but wait that does not mean she’s a lesbian….not even close!!! Because when she starts noticing, really noticing sexy Draco….everything she thought just flies out the window!!!

She can’t understand why she has all these feelings for Draco…
 photo images5_zpsc673b0de.jpg
what, are you stupid girl!!! He’s the perfect man…oh yes, sorry Eve, you do not do love, relationships, men…..because you have a lot of men issues!!!!
 photo tumblr_m6e1hsOF611rq8y0mo1_500_zps0c2480ef.gif

Of course they get together!!!!

He’s sexy, not pushy and domineering……and it helps that he’s hot in bed..he’s Italian after all!!
 photo tumblr_lwwj8ae2QD1r96gqpo1_500_zpsb0d2ac09.jpg

Swept off her feet…..but boy does Draco have to work at the relationship!! This is not an instant love at first sight…no no….this is a get to know each other and fall in love forever!!!
 photo images_zps322c6bf1.jpg

Let me think….

Did I enjoy Draco & Eve’s love story???
Surprisingly I did……………okay, there was a bit of long-winded inner monologues, yes, no….but somehow the characters were very endearing…..and I adored the epilogue.
WISHING YOU HAPPY TIMES DRACO & EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good start and ending . Shame about the middle .
Liked the dad, daughter relationship . Liked Draco, but Eve was all over the place, to the point of getting on my nerves.

This had so much potential.

Extra sexy, alpha romero and NICE GUY hunk falls for uptight, virginal lingerie designer/budding biz tycoon.

The plot was fun; the characters, especially the oh-so yummy hero, were relatively fresh, but the execution stunk.

Way too many threads left dangling. I read on online version that excluded the epilogue which was needed badly. Tracked it down, and the epilogue helped a little, but still too many fragments dangled.

This book really had potential. A 5 star charmer H that fights against his attraction to the h. She falls into the Miss CrankyPants on more than one occasion, but redeems herself with some banter.

Alex is the Romance Fox's review is much better.

Wow, an exhausting read for me. The constant perspective changes from H to h was at times very hard to keep up with. I enjoyed the father/daughter relationship immensely and liked Draco primarily for that reason. Eve, not so much.

Couldn't even finish. Full of lengthy descriptions and monologues and almost zero dialogue!

One Night with Morelli by Kim Lawrence is a well written romance with commitment phobic characters. Draco Morelli and Eve Curtis both are commitment phobic and have to deal with their own distrusts regarding the opposite sex to find an HEA. If looked closely both the characters are quite similar deep within and they both have their pasts to blame for making them what they are today. This was the main obstacle in their romance and it took a lot of time for them to finally sort out their issues.

The romance was steamy and hot and very enjoyable because the characters share an awesome chemistry. The plot was solid, the dialogues enjoyable and it was a good package overall.

Overall, One Night with Morelli by Kim Lawrence is a well written romance which would be loved by the author’s fans.Read More

I really enjoyed this book. The way Eve and Draco meet for the first time pulled me into the story. Afterwards the two seemed to always bump into one another. The romance was slow and sweet. Draco's daughter was very mature for her age. It was sweet the way she tried to set Eve and her father up. She wanted her father to have someone special in his life. Draco was a wonderful father. It was nice to read a book with a healthy dad, daughter relationship. The romance was good between Eve, and Draco. This was just a all around good book.

Her writing is confusing. Constant switching between his and hers thoughts/pov without any prior indication is like unending whiplash.
Both characters are weak, with no any depth to them and no growth. He is conceited and she is selfish. The best portrayal writer gave of hero's 13yr old daughter. I found her the most interesting and charismatic out of all of them

I would've given it three stars but the baby explosion was just a bit too much. I did like the characters though.

Reread, same thoughts and rating. In between 3 and 4 stars. Parts were tops and parts were lame; H was consistently good and h bounced around; some dialogue was great and some was, well, missing, replaced by characters thinking. KL usually writes super dialogue and what was there was good but there was not enough.

KL loves to insert an unexpected pregnancy into her romances, often to add angst, other times for no good reason. There is a surprise pregnancy here that adds nothing, doesn’t muddy the waters or add any tension. Story would have been stronger without it.

Several plot points trailed off into HP misty oblivion, such as h’s underwear business, that could have been built up a bit to enrich story.

There was either a small continuity problem or my mind skipped out. I wondered about 2/3 through whether story was set in Australia because h got a big customer there and when she got back from wedding her PA talked about jet lag. And there’s a mention of moving to Australia early on. Since h drove to the wedding I thought maybe she had jet lag from flying from England to Australia. Figured out on reread, she lives in UK, just returned from Australia.

Re-reread. Like better this time but author’s books tend to a formula: h meets H, insta-mega-lust, usually with heaping spoonfuls of arguing and willful denial of anything more than lust. Crisis, pregnancy, ILY and HEA. Sometimes crisis is the pregnancy but usually the pregnancy is a plot point, an excuse and a way for h and H to be together.

Warning: one night will never be enough...

Draco Morelli: ruthless businessman, adoring father and wary ex-husband. This gorgeous Italian only ever signs up for temporary flings with glamorous women who know the rules of the game. Until he is blindsided by the one woman in all of London not interested in a relationship with him....

Eve Curtis: dedicated workaholic, loyal friend and self-professed singleton. Determined to remain independent, Eve has been happy keeping men at a safe distance. Until now. Because when Draco sweeps her off her feet and into his bedroom, he opens her eyes to a whole new world of sin and seduction!

3.5

Would have been a solid 4 stars if Draco hadn't had a moment of jealous asshattery towards the end. Up the that point he was a darn good H. A good father, not bitter &/or damaged from his ex (in fact was decent & surprisingly understanding of his flighty, selfish ex-wife), a definite alpha but not a bully one, and he thought Eve's slight stutter was sexy!

I know these books HAVE to have a misunderstanding and a bit of drama but honestly, this book didn't need it.

"Tensions and tempers run high in Lawrence’s drama-filled tale set in upper-crust English society. The shrewish heroine and passionate, practical hero engage in title-worthy spars and electrifying make-ups that keep adrenaline flowing and pages turning" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

Super quick romance read for a challenge.

Kim Lawrence always a nice m&b author. Typically I enjoy her books. I'm very tired so must admit I'm sure I slept read this as I blinked and it was over but that happens with these short romances

Still it was good if a little quick.
