Pregnancy Pains & Mystic Chains

Rate this book
Whoever said "pregnancy is magical" clearly never had to deal with actual magic while pregnant. Trust me, trying to cast spells when your center of gravity has its own zip code is no picnic. But here I am, attempting to save Maine from supernatural disaster while growing three tiny demigods.

Just as I was getting used to my new life of pickle-flavored ice cream and floating prenatal yoga (literally), my nemesis Lyra decides it's the perfect time to unleash chaos. Now I'm stuck on doctor-ordered bedrest, which is as useful as an umbrella in a hurricane when you're a witch with a penchant for trouble.

While my divine baby daddy Aidon and our ragtag magical crew are trying to stop Lyra's latest scheme, I'm left battling heartburn and trying not to turn my well-meaning visitors into toads. (Hormone-induced magic is real, folks, and it's not pretty.)

But when Lyra manages to lure me out with promises of peanut butter-dipped jalapenos and vengeance, I realize this isn't just about my swollen ankles anymore. With more problems emerging and magic surging, I'm in a race against time, contractions, and cosmic forces I barely understand.

Turns out, being a midlife, pregnant witch in the middle of a magical showdown is the ultimate multitasking challenge. Good thing I've got stretch marks and an attitude to prove I'm up for it.

Watch out, Lyra. This magical mama is about to show you why you should never underestimate a witch with pregnancy brain and a score to settle.

Pregnancy may be magical for some, but let me tell you—Pregnancy Pains & Mystic Chains by Brenda Trim flips that concept on its head and turns it into a full-blown chaotic, hilarious, magical rollercoaster. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to try and save the world while pregnant with three demigods, this is the book that shows you all the real magic behind the experience—spoiler alert: it involves pickle-flavored ice cream, floating yoga, and a whole lot of pregnancy hormones (and believe me, those hormones make magic go haywire).

Our heroine, who is just trying to stay afloat (literally and figuratively), is both endearing and utterly badass. She’s on bed rest (which, let’s be honest, is like asking a witch to sit still while the world crumbles), but that doesn’t stop her from being a force to be reckoned with. With her nemesis Lyra causing chaos left and right, the stakes are higher than ever, and the sheer ridiculousness of trying to keep up with it all while dealing with heartburn, swollen ankles, and uncontrollable magic had me laughing out loud. Hormone-induced magic? I’m here for it.

And then there’s Aidon, the divine baby daddy, who is trying his best to save the day while his pregnant witch partner navigates pregnancy brain and supernatural messes. I absolutely adore their dynamic—the banter, the way they’ve got each other’s backs even in the craziest of situations—it’s so real, so fun, and you can really feel the love and the chaos. It’s the perfect mix of heart and hilarity.

What I really loved about this book, though, is how real everything feels. Sure, there’s magic and demigods and supernatural drama, but at the core of it, it’s a story about a woman juggling it all—her magical duties, her growing family, and the ever-looming threat of Lyra. And let’s face it: being a midlife witch on bed rest with a serious magical problem to solve is the ultimate test of multitasking. But I’m here for it. This book is so unapologetically fun, and the character growth—especially with our heroine—has me so invested in this series. The sass, the humor, the way she turns challenges into opportunities for magical revenge? Priceless.

Pregnancy Pains & Mystic Chains is a hilarious, heartwarming, and magical adventure that proves you can be a badass witch, a loving partner, and a soon-to-be mom all while facing down dark magic and keeping your cool. If you’ve been following this series, this book is a perfect continuation of all the magic, humor, and heart you’ve come to love. If you haven’t picked it up yet, well, what are you waiting for? Get ready for a wild ride filled with humor, heart, and way too much peanut butter-dipped jalapeños. Trust me, you’ll love every second of it!.

Passionately Perky Patience

As previously shared, Phoebe is a powerful Pleiades witch, whom you can read the history of her ascension in the previous books. Phoebe and Aiden, along with their house of wonderful family and friends such as her Mom, Mollie, her grandmother Nana (who is 90 and sprightly), Stella her best friend and Layla, Tseki, Selene, Murtagh, and Mythia (a fairy), all take on various magical maladies including some not-so-positive antagonists only this time, Phoebe is heavily pregnant with what might be powerful demigods or...we shall see!

Besides some interesting cravings, exhilarating exercise and lots of magical mischief, our team of empowered, effective entities take on more drama from our current antagonist, Lyra who lures our powerful Pleiades into another magical malady drawing Phoebe out of the needed bed rest. Probably a saving grace that Aiden and the team are there to help with the chaos.

Opportunities to excel, perhaps even stumble, are part of this journey. Be prepared for lots of humor, family interaction, magical mayhem, and unusual treats. Every character is vital for this adventure of malleable magic, manageable mayhem and miraculous miracles. Possibly even some ideas on managing concerns and multitasking.

Oh boy (and girl...and another boy), the mysterious tattoo that has appeared on Phoebe's very pregnant belly is not only an unknown ancient symbol, but it tends to glow brightly enough to light up an entire house. In other words, not easy to hide. There are stories coming in of strange happenings in the magical field and even the Underworld is in an uproar.

This book has it all: magical unborn triplets with a few gods on the father's side, a secret society with homicidal tendencies, a prophecy that everyone interprets differently, a group of family and friends who will do anything to protect Phoebe and her babies. It does, of course, end on a cliffhanger, but that is nothing new.

I loved this story and how everyone rallied to unravel the mystery. Even Phoebe's son Jean-Marc gets in on the action. I can't wait to find out how everyone fares one these babies are born. It is going to be a hoot when they reach the 'terrible twos'! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Omg. Phoebe is about to pop her triplet demigod babies out soon. Things are going crazy all over the place and other women who are preggers are having problems too. After Phoebe and the gang looking into it, they find out that extremely old magic is at work. Clio, Aidon, Stella, Nana, Tarja, Molly, Nina, Selene, Layla, Tseki, Murtagh, and the gang all have to work together to stop the big problem this time around. The book is exciting, crazy in all senses of the word, and outright freaky. I chewed on my nails, ranted, muttered curses, punched my pillow, giggled, lolled, and pretty much went through a lot of other emotions on a super duper supernatural roller coaster ride of epic proportions that was another apocalypse that needed to be prevented. The things that happen in this book had me freaking out for about three hours afterwards going through all of the ramifications. Plus, learning more about the babies was just wow. Boy, they are powerful. (Super understatement!) I can’t wait to see what happens next! Things look like they are about to go even crazier.

Come along for the best ride... This is a keeper!!!! If you haven't read any of this series yet...

I love everything Brenda Trim....never a dull moment...Just when you think you have everything all figured out...her characters switch direction on a dime. New factions and players crop up adding to the thrill that is unique to her books. You won't be disappointed until you binge like I did and find out that you have to wait 3 months for book 17....whyyyyyy😭🤣 (crying real tears , hanging on the cliff in Elvis Town, USA). I Need it Now!!! Start reading...you won't be disappointed! )you notice I said not one thing about the content right...lol... anticipation 😜 is the best stone to build with...be blessed!

Phoebe is ordered to bedrest with the triplets, and that leaves Aidon and crew to try to stop Lyra's latest evil scheme. Read to find out they do it without the Pleiades (Phoebe) or if she manages to help in spite of being on bed rest!
Brenda Trim is a wonderful author who never disappoints. She writes amazing paranormal tales that are touched with action, fun, non-stop snark and sarcasm. Can’t wait to see what happens next with the crew in Maine!.

Phoebe’s Challenge . . .

Phoebe has been put on bed rest with the triplets, which means that Aidon and her family and friends need to step in to stop Lyra's latest evil scheme. Phoebe is sort of like a time bomb we are all waiting to see explode. And bed rest doesn’t work well with her. Will she step up and face off with Lyra despite her current condition? Everybody, find shelter! This is a case of chaos on steroids! And probably the most fun you’ll have all week!

This pregnancy is truly magical, but is not easy carrying three magical children. Of course we get another crazy adventure in this wonderful world. The story is an amazing midlife tale that hooked me from the start and I had to finish it before I could put it down. Fantastic Story! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers! I Recommend!.

tough times as pregnancy trauma collides with powers old and new.

it's a real trip - in more ways than one.

trying to keep the babies and the realms safe might be even more of a challenge than feared

I really enjoy the people connections and disconnects in these stories, as much as the magics make things dramatic and intriguing.

Oh Baby!... er Demigod Babies! Plus powerful tattoos, an enemy that won't quit and an order for bedrest that just can't be filled.... what a pregnancy!

This book had me all over the emotional plane. At times, I was fully immersed in the story, like a silent observer and I desperately wanted to be included in on the adventure.

Thanks Brenda Trim for the great read. You ROCK!

Pregnancy Woes

Phoebe has a lot to deal with her magical pregnancy and now having to be on bedrest. Aiden and the crew are hard at work as well, and the obstacles within this story keep ramping up. It kept me interested the entire time, and I could not get enough of this story.

I love this series and am excited to be back in this magical and exciting world. Phoebe is still heavily pregnant and is on bed rest leaving everyone else to figure out what Lyra’s up to this time. There’s mystery, there’s a prophecy, there’s curses and there’s a lot of excitement as the author draws us in with another hilarious and magical adventure.

If you thought being pregnant was hard, try being pregnant with not one, not two, but three demigods. Oh, and I have to save Maine from the impending supernatural disaster that is headed this way. Another great addition to the series!.

Wow!

This was definitely a story to remember, a battle well-fought, and harmony restored. It was filled with witches and magic, demons and destruction, pure vs. evil, balance vs. control.

Pregnancy at its Finest

This is the best book yet! Tons of action, wild magic and family love! It kept me on the edge of my seat. I was actually angry when the book ended in a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next book to come out!

Another wonderful story from Brenda Trim.

We are back in Maine with a very pregnant Phoebe who is trying to save Maine from the supernatural. Phoebe is a Pleiades witch and she is trying to take care of her family and trying to fight bad supernatural beings. Full of action and adventure nothing slows Phoebe down from trying to protect her family and friends not even being heavily pregnant with triplets.
Full of hilarity and kicking butt. I highly recommend the series and this book.

The author does an excellent job keeping you reading and she creates wonderful characters.
Highly recommend!
