Wickedly Ever After #1

Claimed by the Ash Prince

Rate this book
Her kingdom is at war, and she’s being forced to marry. But Lelia is a princess who doesn’t want to get married. After using her powers of ice to be a general nuisance to ward off any potential match, she must face the consequences when her parents force her into an arranged marriage to help save her kingdom.

Rollo, the Ash Prince, is a super hot, battle-hardened warrior with the power to wield fire. Because of Lelia’s reputation for being a free-spirit, Rollo is the only man brave enough to claim her hand.

Leila is utterly shocked when she learns of the sexy and sinful customs of her new home. As she gets to know Rollo, she is thrilled, yet hesitant, to learn about his erotic desires. Even with his incredible wealth and power, she realizes he craves control. And he wants to exert that control over her mind and body.

It's up to Lelia to choose how much power she's willing to relinquish to find love.

Claimed by the Ash Prince is a Snow Queen retelling with a forced marriage trope featuring a possessive and aggressive, touch-her-or-die love interest.

I had the honour of reading an ARC of Claimed by the Ash prince. I loved the storyline, the flow, the characters. The development of forced proximity to pure obsession was *chefs kiss*. This story packed a punch with the spice 🌶️🔥

This was a great, fast paced novella and I look forward to more stories by Charlie. The reason for the rating is purely because I needed more. I need to know more about life after the ball.

*received as an ARC*

This has been a short yet fun read! It is very easily readable in one or two sittings (which is what I did) and for whomever is searching a quick spicy adventure, this might be a good book for you!

Personally, I would've wished for more development on the theme and plot line. Yes, it is a spicy erotic novella, but if you start a book with some overarching plotline, it should atleast somewhat be followed. Instead it mostly served as an entry point for the characters and a reason they're actually ending up together, which is fine, but a bit of a missed opportunity in my opinion.
Same goes for the fantasy aspect in terms of powers. Both are very rarely used, more mentioned than anything else, and it could've very well been a somewhat historical novella without the fantasy aspect. I had hoped on more involvement of it.

The spicy scenes where a joy to read, I did like their dynamic and especially the overarching kind of corruption vibe. It is well-writtenly kinky, not too short but on the point when it comes to those aspects of the book.

It was nice to read something fast paced for a change and it was quite easily to fall into the pull of the characters who more and more grew obsessive towards one another. :D
Just personally, for me, I would've loved to have a bit more plot with it and maybe a few more pages to be able to add in a bit more depth.

3.5 Stars ✨

The book felt overly complex, with too many elements to execute effectively. The magical aspects were underdeveloped sadly. Take me on a griffin ride, don't just say you're taking riding lessons. Or use your magical ability of ice making in a spicy/fun way. I did, however, find the intense scenes enjoyable, and they left me eager for more adventurous moments.

This was a generous 3 stars for me.

The story follows Princess Leila as she is trying to be on her best behavior for a last ditch arranged marriage to save her kingdom. I liked the overall plot of this book, i thought it had a lot of potential. However it was kind of lacking in climax, there was no real issue in the story that the couple has to face. I feel there was just some build up or angst that was missing for me.
With that said, there was spice that was really good. But I also didn't feel connected to the characters at all. I liked that this was short, but it probably could've stood to be a bit longer.
Last, I just don't understand what magic had to do with the story at all? It seemed to serve no purpose except to exist.

Would I recommend, probably not.

I received an ARC for this book and I was not sure what to expect. The spice is spicy. It includes BDSM elements and power play without being too complex or overly detailed. A few times while reading, I got lost in the language used. There was a lack of world building so I found myself getting confused on where a scene was taking place, especially in the beginning. But it has good bones to be a great spicy novella with a few changes. Overall I would give it a 3.75 out of 5 stars.

I was given an ARC of this book .. and boy am I so thankful for that ! I DEVOURED this book in a couple hours. I could not put it down. It’s the kind of novella that has you wishing it was a whole 200 more pages because you don’t want to stop reading it. It is not a typical book that I would reach for(I’m a dark romance girly) and this book had me questioning as to why because this is hot and very interesting and yummy.

The spice was magnificent and placed into the plot of the story. And let me tell you .. the spice is spicing 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and is very hot. The characters are relatable and easy to fall in love with. The storyline was easy to follow and very well written. I cannot wait for more from Charlie Morgan !!

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book! I am glad I found a new author to love too! I devoured this book in a few hours.

RECEIVED AS AN ARC . This was a fun fast paced read. The spice was well written and played a big role in the plot. I liked Leia's character growth from prudish and closed off, to excepting her sexual desires and open to being vulnerable. I like also that she kept her sass through the growth. I would enjoy a little more world building and maybe some external conflict but over all it was an enjoyable read. I can see this being a good read for people that may come from a repressive background to find validation in their own sexual desires. I am looking forward to more from this series.

Princess Leila of Lorrania has lived a life of defying royal conventions. She has terrorized potential suitors with her acid wit and icy magic, hoping that she can delay marriage and live alone. But when war looms over her kingdom, her father takes the extreme measure—she is to be wedded to the Ash Prince Rollo, a warlord with a reputation for cruelty. Their marriage is the key to achieving an alliance that would rescue Lorrania.

Thrown abruptly into the raw, unorthodox existence of Rollo's court, Leila is forced to deal with culture shock, politicking, and a prince as maddening as he is beguiling. She must deal with court politics, wars of will, and her own forbidden desires, while deciding if she'll yield her pride for her people—or something much closer to her heart.
Leila is obstinate, obstinately independent, and unwillingly willing to be used in her father's political gamble. She is biting, often using sarcasm as a shield, and won't be controlled. But there is vulnerability in her defiance—a fear of losing herself, of being used and discarded. As we read further into the novel, we can see she is conflicted between duty and want, rebellion and acquiescence.

Leila is always torn between obedience to her kingdom and liberty. She fights lust and disobedience towards Rollo, dreading losing herself if she gives in.
Flaws & Strengths: Disobedience is both her worst and best quality. She's intelligent and courageous but hot-headed, allowing sometimes her passion to lead her instead of her brains.

Rollo
The Ash Prince is the embodiment of raw energy. He's brilliant, manipulative, and not particularly sorry for what he desires. In contrast to the other princes who tried to woo Leila, Rollo is very forthright from the start—she'll belong to him. But beneath that assertive and commanding exterior is a man who bears on his shoulders the weight of his kingdom's existence.

Rollo is for conquest, but as we continue reading the story, we find that there is more to this obnoxious prince. He is a strength lover, and Leila's inability to be intimidated intrigues him rather than infuriating him.
Complexity & Psychology: His scheme is cunning, and his power games are vicious, but beneath his behavior is a deep anxiety. His love for Leila is not merely physical-he must penetrate through her defenses and reach her true self.

Side Characters
Lily & Lilac (Leila's chambermaids): Both represent the utter dichotomy between Leila's life before and after death. Both are versed in Rollo's court protocol and both urge Leila to emulate them.
King of Lorrania (Leila's father): A calculating, icy king who holds his daughters strictly as pawns in his game. The way King Rollo treats Leila imbues Leila with distrust of great men.
Fanaris (Rollo's gryffin): Fanaris is something more than some sort of creature; he's a symbol of power and loyalty, and he fills Leila with a sense of peace and appreciation in a new world that is foreign to her, dedicated to their king.

The story tells of the battle for control—not just in a state, but in how it plays out between human beings. Rollo dominates, but Leila is not going quietly into the night. The push and the pull are tug-of-war as much as they are a struggle for supremacy.
Leila is confronted with kingdom responsibilities against personal desires. Throughout her narrative, this theme arises as she considers whether or not she can exchange freedom for responsibility.
There is a contrast between Lorrania and Rollo's kingdom. Leila must come to terms with the fact that women in another world live very differently from her, so much so that she must redefine everything she knows about women and themselves.
The struggle between lust and terror within Leila is visceral. She is drawn to Rollo against her will, and that internal struggle is a vast majority of the emotional investment of the novel.

The writing by Charlie Morgan is good, descriptive, and suspenseful. Descriptions of world-building are rich, especially where world-building is involved—the barren landscapes, the icy loveliness of the castle, the overripe but sinister court.
The prose is lush and evocative, capturing both the physical setting and the emotional turmoil of the characters. The story is told from Leila’s perspective, allowing us to experience her fear, frustration, and reluctant attraction firsthand. The book moves at a steady pace, balancing world-building, character development, and steamy interactions seamlessly.

Ash Prince ownership is a dark, sultry fantasy romance novel with court politics, power games, and blinding passion. This enemies-to-lovers trope is reimagined from a new perspective, with a heroine who refuses to bow graciously and a hero as cunning as he is irresistible.

Overall Rating: ★★★★☆
Writing Style: ★★★★☆

World-Building: ★★★★☆

Non-consensual scenes & dub-con elements

ARC Review: Claimed by the Ash Prince by Charlie Morgan

Quick Summary:

🌶️ 5/5 Chili Peppers – Explicit descriptions of what is happening and how it makes her feel. Bondage and paddling kinks, to name a few.
🥵 4.5/5 on the Smut Scale – While the spice is spicing, there is an overarching plot. Not much, but it’s there. This is very much an erotic novella.
⭐ 3.5/5 Stars – Overall, a smutty novella. Check trigger warnings. What stood out to me personally was the theme of healing from religious trauma and prude culture.

The Details:

This novella is a sizzling blend of fantasy, romance, and eroticism. While it dives deep into the erotic aspects of the relationship, it also explores the challenges of relinquishing control and the complexities of love forged under obligation.

The kingdom is at war, and alliances must be made. The story centers on Princess Lelia, who wields the power of ice and has a reputation for being a free spirit— and a bit of a brat in all the best ways. Against her desires, she is thrust into a possible arranged marriage with Rollo, the fire-wielding Ash Prince.

What she doesn’t expect is the stark difference in cultures and customs between their two kingdoms. She struggles to balance her homeland’s expectations with her natural desires. I found this to be a strong parallel to breaking away from modesty culture within the Christian faith, where desire is often framed as sinful. The dynamic between Lelia and Rollo is charged with tension, passion, and raw need. I really felt for her as she worked through those emotions, confronting both her own boundaries and Rollo’s dominant nature versus her bratty tendencies.

Smut aside, I found the overall story and plot engaging and well-executed for such a short book. At around 120 pages, there isn’t much room for deep character development, world-building, or plot depth—but that’s to be expected from a novella. That said, it left plenty of room for expansion… and I wouldn’t mind seeing more 😉😉

"Claimed by the Ash Prince" is an enthralling fantasy romance that masterfully intertwines elements of desire, power dynamics, and personal growth. Following the journey of Princess Leila, the narrative plunges readers into a world where duty and passion collide in the most unexpected ways.

From the outset, Leila is portrayed as a strong-willed yet vulnerable character, caught in the web of her father's political machinations. The pressure to marry for the sake of her kingdom is palpable, and her sense of duty is both relatable and heart-wrenching. When her father resorts to auctioning her off to the highest bidder, readers can't help but empathize with her plight. Enter the Ash Prince, a character shrouded in mystery and allure, who offers Leila a chance to escape her suffocating reality.

Moran's world-building is vivid and immersive, bringing to life the Ash Prince's castle with its seductive atmosphere and intriguing inhabitants. The initial discomfort Leila feels upon encountering the provocative attire of the servants sets the stage for her transformation. As she navigates this new environment, readers witness her evolution from a dutiful princess to a woman exploring her own desires. The tension between Leila and the Ash Prince is palpable, and their chemistry ignites the pages with a heat that is both intoxicating and raw.

The romance is spiced with steamy, raunchy scenes that are skillfully crafted, adding layers to the characters' emotional connection. Moran balances the eroticism with moments of tenderness, allowing readers to experience the depth of Leila and the Ash Prince's relationship. Their passionate encounters are not just physical; they are a dance of power and vulnerability, pushing both characters to confront their fears and desires.

"Claimed by the Ash Prince" can be likened to a captivating blend of "Fifty Shades of Grey" set against a backdrop of fantasy, magic, and mythical creatures. The plot unfolds at a brisk pace, leaving readers eager for more as each chapter contains tantalizing twists and turns.

Claimed by the Ash Prince was a really fun read and the most important fact it was really light, and exactly what I needed after reading some very heavy books.

We follow Lelia as she is send to to another Kigdom, as her last chance of marriage. There she mets the Ash Prince, Rollo, and from there we follow them into their courting for a month.

The good thing about this book was that even when it had some fantasy it was really light and the magic system is not developed in full. So it’s not like you need to get all your brain into figuring things out.

The characters are cool. I really enjoyed reading Lelia and for the length of this book, she is really well developed. She was one of those main characters that I did like. And I did not feel the need to punch her or tell her to get her shit together, so I think it’s quite awesome. Rollo is ok too, though there are some things about him that did not particularly clicked with me.

Plot wise it was quite simple. It’s one of those books that you read just for the pleasure of reading. And the romance was really good. And it keep me hooked.

Overall it was a really fun read perfect for in between books. And I will be for sure checking the next book in the series when its aviable!

My first ARC! 4****
This was actually quite enjoyable! It’s the standard arranged marriage plot with the girl (who’s of course Stubborn) being forced to marry the to consolidate forces against the Azurerite Empire. She’s from a prudish country and his country is sexually liberated. You can see where this going.

Loved Leila’s characterization, she has ice powers. Prince Rollo, THE ASH PRINCE has fire powers (lol). You can see where this is going.

Loved:
1. “Little lamb” nickname
2. Archery scene
3. Description of the clothes - need a look book
4. When their fire/ice powers came together
5. The BDSM stuff wasn’t super cringe; the buildup was great. Read content warnings if you need it
6. Lily and Lilac the chambermaids - they need their own book
7. Magical world-building of Reznorrok

Dislikes:
- the whole point of arranged marriage was to help win the war against the Azurerite empire but there was no battle at the end… maybe that comes in the other novellas?

Overall this was short and spicy! The characters seemed real and not insane. I wanna read the other upcoming novellas in this world.

🚨SPOILER ALERT🚨

i got an arc for this and it is great!!!
okay so this is basically 50 shades of grey but in a kingdom style setting. IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!!!!

omgggg the way that he brings her out of her comfort zone but is totally respectful of her stopping when she wants. i’m writing this before i finish but i need to write these thoughts down. I LOVE ITTTT!!!

she’s so scared of coming to this random kingdom that has a totally different culture than hers does. he makes her feel comfortable without forcing anything on her (kinda). sometimes you gotta give ppl a little shove lol

i love the way that he is just trying to get her out of her comfort zone and be herself. he encourages her natural desires that happen to all of us( let’s be honest here)

my fav quote is “The people of this court are allowed to be exactly themselves. A privilege I was never given until now.” this just shows me that she truly just wanted someone to see her for who she is.

ALSO I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOWWW!!!!

I received this book as an ARC. It's my first arc review, so bear with me if the review is all over the place.
I feel like it has good bones. It sometimes was a bit wordy for me, but wasn't a deterrent to finish reading. I feel the beginning was wordy the most, as it got better the further I got into the book.
When it says spicy, it isn't lying. The spice was spicin'.
I feel like there could be so much more to this book, so much more explained and built upon, but as a novella, it did its job. In a novella you don't need a huge drawn out back story and ridiculous world building. Sometimes you just need the characters to meet, fall in love, bang and happy ever after. 😂
I feel like there is a lot of potential for this author and that with time and experience their books will be ones you can't put down.

This is a spicy fantasy novella, but it's got some things to say about power, which I found quite interesting.

I'll admit, this is not my typical fare, and I'd be just as much an outsider as Lelia is in the situations she encounters, but this story kept my interest. The spice was spicy, and that's the bulk of the story. It's light on the worldbuilding and plot outside the forced marriage/intimate exploration, which may well be exactly what you're looking for. But the thing that intrigued me was Lelia's constant grappling with power, and not just the fact that she was submitting to Rollo, but in how she realized she had power to excersize over him, even when she was submitting to him. It made for an interestng dynamic.

The story concludes with a sneak peek at the next couple in the series, and just hearing about them, I'm even more intrigued for the next book than this one.

Leila, the ice princess. Forced into marriage by her parents to save her kingdom. Goes to stay with Prince Rollo. Finds her strong will being broken down each time she is in Rollos presence, as he opens her mind to new things. She grew up in a very strict kingdom. And boy is she surprised at what she finds awaiting her in Prince Rollos kingdom.
This book has lots of spice. There are talks of war and limited supplies of magic. There’s possessiveness. This princess has been held back her entire life, I love that she gets to go experience new things and has a chance to find a place she can be open and be herself.

I am excited to see how she grows this story in the next book! The author did a great job with this book. Worth a read.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Claimed by the Ash Prince. Lelia is a strong young woman who doesn’t want to be married off. After sabotaging every match her parents have tried to make for her, her parents give her no choice but entertain a new marriage prospect in Rollo, the Ash Prince. Rollo is a warrior and he wants to find a bride that can match him in every way. Lelia is forced to spend a month with Rollo in his kingdom. Upon arrival she finds that thing in Rollo’s kingdom are very different from what she is used to. The writing is amazing and the story is great. I highly recommend this book if you love a headstrong FMC and an MMC that is a battle hardened warrior who knows what he wants and how he wants it.

I was given an ARC of this book and, while it was a fun and quick read, it felt very rushed. You meet Leila, a princess with the power to manifest ice (think Elsa vibes) who is being forced to marry to help their kingdom survive a war. She gets sent to live in the kingdom of the Ash Prince for a month to see if she meets his standards to marry and unite their kingdoms. This novella had so much potential but kind o f fell flat for me. The magic seemed like an after thought and the war was barely mentioned beyond it being the reason for this arrangement. Ultimately I enjoyed being introduced to a new author but would probably not read any more of this series.

This novella started off strong but fell a little flat by the end. The beginning sets the scene for the FMC to help save her people. By the end of the story, you do get HEA for the characters but no resolution on the danger to her people.

However, spice is there with some light BDSM. The scenes were enjoyable and left me curling my toes while reading.

If you go into this book with expectations that this is purely smut with no plot, it is a good read. Sometimes you are in the mood for a lot of spice without the extra filling. This book definitely hit the mark and was a good pallet cleanser for me.

Need more of how the war is going how the MMC and the FMC is going to handle that and how they bith fit in their new role!!! Like I need more!! Definitely wish their was more world building and more magic. Like what they can do with it and how advanced is their magic? Anyways would definitely recommend to anyone that's want something different and want to read a shirt story.

For a short book there was a lot packed into this.

The story line is set up beautifully to be able to continue on with the series. I enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters and the power dynamic that they built.

I do wish that we could have seen the FMC's Father get put in his place but that's just me being petty.

I'm excited to keep an eye out for future books from Charlie Morgan and hopefully get to see the characters from Claimed by the Ash Prince reappear in the rest of the series!

I wish this wasn't a novella! I wouldve still inhaled this book no matter the size but I couldn't get enough. I wish there was more time for world and character building but being a novella there isn't enough time. None the less I loved it. The spicy scenes are on point and only made me want more!

Lily is a favorite because she is so sassy and isn't afraid to show it. Made me laugh on a couple occasions.

I wouldve love for her parents to be at the ball or a scene of them coming and seeing everything. Wouldve cracked me up!

I received this book as an ARC copy from Charlie Morgan!

If you are looking for a fast paced spicy read, definitely add this to your TBR

For a novella, I think this book was paced well. It was like if you pulled all the spicy chapters from a regular book and smashed them into this novella. It read well, despite not having background on the characters or world building. I do wish there was more use of Leila or Rollo's powers through out the book. I would have also loved to see more of Leila learning to ride griffins, learning dances for the ball, painting, etc.

I received a ARC of this book!
It was very fast paced and while I enjoyed the book overall - I did get a little confused due to the lack of world building. I would have appreciated a bit more detail into that so I could create an image for myself.
I also feel the magic wasn’t well explained so found I was confused when this was mentioned.
The spice was well written and I enjoyed this part of the book.
Overall I enjoyed the book and would be intrigued by anything else by Charlie Morgan.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a face paced novella that in my opinion could have been a full book. There was so much world building and magic system building that could be expanded on.

While it was faced paced it wasn't insta love or love at first sight. Our FMC is feisty and intelligent. Our MMC is swoon worthy.

There is definitely a BDSM theme of power and control here.

I'd give it a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ spice level.

I definitely enjoyed this and would read more from this author

I loved the romance/relationship between this couple <3
I would have liked to see more world-building and maybe some more resistance from the princess but it made sense with the timeline of the story and the pace of what they were both going through. I liked the description of each outfit and I was able to visualize things well. I'd love to see more in this universe to learn more about he world and this country if possible.
The ~relationship~ building was wonderful to read and I could feel the tension from each page. I'll absolutely be reading this again in the near future.

Despite its being a novella and thus the small number of pages, inside of Claimed by the Ash Prince we have a major growth in the relationship between the two characters, which in my opinion is not to be taken for granted as they do not have the material space to do so.
Leila and Rollo were enjoyable to read and the Spicy part was not too preponderant.
Leila in particular will have a lot of growth in terms of her confidence in herself and her sexuality.
I look forward to reading the second book in the series.

This is a fun, quick read. The spice is slow at first and then picks up. It makes sense because the princess has been forced to visit this prince by her father who is trying to marry her off and this is her last chance. Prince Rollo introduces her to the spicy world through several meetings as he decides whether or not he wants her as his bride. This is light on world building but the author is working on a second book that will have more world building, but less spice. Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the second book as well.
