Tethered Through Time

Rate this book
When it is time for souls to meet, there is nothing on earth that can prevent it from happening. That's what Emma Finch realizes after her first encounter with Luke Myers. A confirmed bachelor and undercover cop, Luke has made his job his life. Since his first love died tragically in a car accident, Luke hasn't been seriously interested in anyone ... until he meets Emma.

Emma is navigating life after her husband of 24 years dies suddenly. Her days as a middle school guidance counselor are filled with hormonal teenagers, while her nights are interrupted by a dream stuck on repeat. A chance meeting with the mystifying detective at a Memorial Day barbeque leaves Emma staring into the same grey eyes that haunt her slumber night after night. She knows her dream will unlock a mystery, and that it's somehow tied to the tattooed, pierced law-enforcer.

As Emma and Luke's beautiful love story develops, Emma's dreams become more frequent and frightening. She's completely convinced that the enigmatic couple she dreams about each night shares an undeniable connection to Luke and his current undercover assignment. Emma and Luke's bond is so powerful, they both wonder if maybe they've met before.

What they learn is that time has a wonderful way of showing them what really matters, and that the universe works in mysterious ways.

What a magical story, with a beautiful romance. I love the concept of your soul will lead you to who your suppose to love. This book had a little of everything .. Lost, heartbreak, self discovery. Hope, love , thrill, steamy and down right heart warming.

I loved the instant spark Emma and Luke have, I loved being a part of their journey. They really are such a great couple....I love Luke's passion, his sweetness, his bad boy appearance . But I truly am in love with his love for Emma.

What a magical read ;)

**ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

Have you ever met someone for the first time, and you swore
you met somewhere else, that they felt so familiar?  Someone that you
just "clicked" with right away?
Someone that you could "open up" to right away, trusting them
immediately?  When Luke and Emma meet for
the first time - this is exactly what both of them felt, that undeniable pull which also included a few
"sparks".

When Emma meets Luke, she's been healing for the last 10
months after losing her husband of 25 years.
She's also been struggling with a recurring dream that is keeping her
awake at night - haunting her, along with dealing with her kids being away from
home, and now being totally alone in the house.
She's attracted to Luke instantly, but holding back because she's not
sure if it's okay to move on after her husband's death.

Luke feels the connection instantly when he see Emma, and
shakes her hand.  He hasn't been
interested in someone this much since he was engaged over 25 years ago.  He falls hard, fast right away - and he needs
to get to know her.  He asks her out for
coffee - but the timing is wrong at first for both of them.  She needs to take time to decide if dating is
right for her, and he needs to wrap up and undercover case he is working on.

After a couple of weeks, finally the timing is right and
they set a date.  Right from the
beginning things move fast - they open up immediately about the attraction they
instantly felt, sharing their past - and Emma shares the dream that is haunting her.  Together they try and figure out what is
going on, and how the dream relates to them, though at times it causes rifts in
their relationship as Luke struggles to understand.

This book had me guessing the whole time, as to how Emma's
dreamed played a part in Luke in Emma's past and how it would play into their
life today.  It totally was not what I
expected either when I found out the ending.
I enjoyed the story line and loved their romance - especially dealing with a couple in their late
forties, which to me made it more relatable, and understandable that their
relationship would move at a faster pace.
The only thing that sometimes "got" to me, was the frequent
use of the "terms of endearment" such as sweetheart, honey, etc.  But, maybe I'm just jealous because my husband
doesn't use those terms on me!  This was a
sweet love story, with a past life twist - that will keep you guessing the
whole way - and give you hope that there may be a chance for love a second time
around.

I found this to be a really great read.

Recently widowed, Emma has a recurring dream that keeps playing on her mind. At her friends barbecue she meets Luke an undercover cop. They both get the feeling they've met each other before. Can Emma let Luke in? What's the story with the dreams? You will have to 1-click to find out.

I read this in one sitting. It's a really beautiful story. Well done to the author on a wonderful debut novel.

Basically first and foremost I'd like to say that this is usually NOT what I read. I'm more the paranormal/NA - girl, but I am very happy to help out small (and not so small) Indie Authors and read their books for reviews. This is what happened with this book. I got it in exchange for an honest review and it's a three-and-a-half to four-stars-read.

I had some troubles getting into the story, I have to admit. I can't exactly say what it is, but it felt like it was missing something in the beginning. If I'd have to describe it, I'd say it was pretty 'clinical', but luckily that changed later on. Writing is about getting something off your chest, doing something you love and that's what B.A. Dillon got to after a little while. After that this book turned exciting and sweet and REAL, which is what I look for in books.

So, characters... Emma... Emma is awesome. She's sweet, independent and a woman who follows her heart. I love that. I know some people maybe have troubles with 'insta-love' (which is kinda what this is), but I seriously don't, especially not with the explanation B,A. Dillon offers for it. Love over time - Don't we all dream about that?

Luke... What can I say about Luke??? To be honest, I don't know where to start. COP - hot. TATTOOS - hot. DEVOTION TO HIS WOMAN - hot times ten. He seriously is a great guy and I fell in love with his dad (hahaha, kinky, right? *winks*) . The love those two share, the respect and the honesty in their relationship, I really loved seeing that and I heard we'll see more of him in book two! YAY!

So, again, this was a really good book in the end. I struggled in the beginning, but I'm glad I pulled through because the ending was just right and there were little scenes in between that totally made my heart ache with sweetness. I am going to read on. B.A. Dillon is on the way to write a great series for people who love mysteries, cops and the perfect love.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

Emma is a recent widow trying to get herself back into life again. She meets Luke at a barbecue and the magnetic attraction is instantaneous. The book follows the pair through a mystery- wrapped ride to falling in love and hopefully having a relationship together.

This author writes beautiful characters into her story and they are easy to relate to. Tethered Through Time is a sweet love story.

Can a dream be more than a dream? Can it possibly be a glimpse into a past life? These are just two of the questions plaguing Emma after months of having a recuring dream that becomes worse every time it plays out. Meeting Luke brings even more intense dreams and somehow she is determined to see them through.

Luke has been undercover so much it has taken its toll. Hes never thought of something else to do though untill he meets Her and the attraction is more than undeniable, it's magnetic. There is a spark he can't deny even though he hasn't wanted a relationship in more than 25 years, he wants it all with her and he knows it within 5 minutes of meeting her. But with the recent death of her husband will she run scared and what is it the universe is trying to show them through her dreams?

Emma is strong and strong willed she can take care of herself even though she can see the up sides of someone else being there for her. She is loving and cares for her friends and family deeply and she has such a big heart.

Now I am 26 and Emma is 48 and I'll be the first to admit that allot of times stories where the hero/heroine a so much older than me I have a hard time relating and enjoying the story. But this one was beyond amazing as were both characters so much so that you can't help but fall in love with both of them.

Luke is one to dive right in when he feels something is right and while he makes the ocational mistake you see how hard he tries and love him even more for it.

I loved seeing their story play out as you got to know them and see them come together. Definitely a must read!

Do you believe in reincarnation? Do you think that your dreams could actually be memories from another life?
Emma has these dreams that she thinks are nightmares. They are recurring every day, the same dream over and over again.

Emma is a widow who meets Luke at a BBQ. The instant they touched they felt like they already knew each other. Not that electric touch we have read about before. No this was a whole other type of knowing.

As they get to talking and getting to know each other, they could already read each other's body language. They feel connected they just don't know how. Well Luke doesn't. Emma has an idea though. When she relates her story to Luke he is taken back. Not sure what to think. He has to keep his head in the game. See Luke is an undercover cop. Working on this big case. His intuition is saying something is off. Emma's is saying he is about to get hurt.

The story line it's self was alright for me. I felt like they were to sweet. I mean there is sweet and there is overly sweet. They were right in the middle. I get it though. Emma is Luke's lost love and Luke is Emma's lost love. But to much sweetness for me. Yes there was some drama but they just couldn't manage to be mad at each other or hurt one another feelings.

I liked the whole idea of past loves. I just wish there was a little more of that story. We get a few glimpses from Emma and her dreams. At the end Luke gets them as well. Does this story end with a HEA? You will have to read this book to find out.

Let’s face it, romance novels have been overdone and usually are regurgitated story lines with different characters. However, Dillon’s book offers a realistic approach to love. It is not a fantasy where a girl gets swept off her feet; rather it is a story about finding love again. This book is all about second chances and healing oneself. Tethered Through Time has something for everyone; it weaves a tale that is sprinkled with romance, morsels of mystery, and caresses of sensuality. It is a page turner because with every detail, another clue to Emma and Luke’s connection is revealed. The most refreshing thing about this love story is that it is written in both Emma and Luke’s perspective. Fall in love with a story of two ordinary people who share an extraordinary love. I highly recommend this book to hopeless romantics, to thrill seekers, and lastly to those who believe you are never too old to fall in love.

I have to say that when I started Tethered Through Time by B.A. Dillon, I actually found the story refreshing. Instead of Luke and Emma being young, there were in there late forties, and we don’t always see a lot of that.

Luke and Emma have both lost the loves of their lives. Emma lost her husband due to a heart attack and Luke lost his fiancée due to an accident when he was younger. But the spark that is there between both characters is instantaneous. But they each have their reservations on starting something. But the way this story is done, I have fallen in love with it. Each character is faced with emotions that they need to deal with, but throw in a possible reincarnation and it makes it even better.

Tethered Through Time gives me the hope that even though you may lose a love of your life, you could always get a second chance to find another love that could just be as great or even greater of a love.

There are a couple of disclaimers I need to share:
1. I read this book because it takes place in Tampa, which is where I currently reside.
2. I'm not usually a romance reader...to be honest, they're brain breaks for me.
When I first began reading this book, it took me awhile to get into it. However, quite a few friends had read this book and recommended it, so I wanted to give it a go. The prologue was strange, but in a good way. As I continued reading, there were some minor editing errors that drove me batty. I continued reading because I was intrigued by Emma and Luke. Their spark is one we only read about in fairy tales, but all wish for one day.
Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to the next tale.

I received an ARC copy of this book for a review! I loved this book. It was a different kind of story for me, as I usually don't read much romance/erotica. I however did enjoy it. The story was pretty unique as I have not read much in the way of reincarnation and past lives. I loved how throughout the book you got a bit more of the past right up until the end. I wish we had seen more of Mia in the book though, as she had such an important impact on the ending. The shock value was there, but I would have liked to know her character better throughout the novel. I felt like her vision came out of left field a bit. Other than that though, I started the book and flew through it in a few days. I really enjoyed it.

I was asked by the author to read Tethered in Time for an honest review.

This story revolves around Emma and Luke. Emma is newly widowed and having nightmares. The attraction is instant when Emma and Luke meet. Emma also realizes that Luke is tied to her dreams.

I enjoyed reading Tethered in Time. It moves at a steady pace without all the extra filler that a lot of authors add to their storylines. Ms. Dillon writes a believable character and they are easy to visualize and to become acquainted with. This book is a sweet romance wrapped in a little mystery and intrique. if this is your kind of reading criteria then you will not be disappointed.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I really loved the premise of this book. Unfortunately the execution was a bit wonky. At times I found it to be so off kilter I'd put the book down and come back to it later. I'm a fast reader but it took me weeks to get through this. I did like the characters and the story but the way it was presented left something to be desired. It's not unreadable by any means. Unfortunately it wasn't for me. However, I would be willing to give her another try and would give any future sequels a chance.

I received this book for an honest review! Review by Heidi
Elle lost her husband recently and being a school counselor she is well aware of the steps of grief so she is taking life by the horns getting back out there and the first social outing was a barbecue at her friend Katie's house. She meets Luke , Shanes's partner ,vthey serve together on the Street Crimes Unit.

The effect Luke and Elle have on each other is instantaneous ♥ I fell in love with Luke and Emma at 6% already ! Right from the start Luke is gentle ,
kind, patient and "intense".

Luke doesn't date (he did love once but she died in a car accident) and Kate always seems to be playing matchmaker ♥ so when he joins them at a barbecue I dont think he was expecting to find Elle ...♥

What a pleasure to watch Emma and Luke's relationship blossom ♥ There is a dash of mystery that adds to anxiety levels . Also Luke carried a lot of guilt regarding the death of his first love and it was good to see him let go and live and love again ♥

I know I said I lost my heart to Luke early on in the book but my major swoon , melt in a puddle , knicker melting moment was when Luke asked Emma that they read together .
"Well I was hoping we could pick something together , and that maybe you'd let me use your Kindle ." -----> hold on to your man Emma I may just hump his leg !!! LOL

The other thing I really appreciate about Luke is the relationship he shares with his dad . The definition he gave of soulmates sent shivers up my spine !

Tethered through Time was an amazing ★★★★★ read and one that I will read again and again ♥

4.0 star Review Tethered Through Time (Time Book 1) by B.A. Dillon

This is B.A. Dillon’s debut novel and I was intrigued by the synopsis and therefore when offered to our blog, I was pleased to put my hand up to review.

This is a story about a second chance at love. Luke and Emma’s connection is soul deep and instantaneous with many layers to unravel as the story evolved. These two belong together and you get that feeling right from the start.

The depth of their love, grief, uncertainty and at times stubbornness all intertwined to give the reader a book that is thought provoking. This is a story line with a difference, not based on sex, sex and more sex. This is a story of love overcoming obstacles, often put in its path by both Luke and Emma.

Tethered Through Time will perhaps make you stop and think a while on the connections we have in our lives. Not only of a romantic nature, but of true friendship. The story is written from both Luke and Emma’s viewpoints and although at times, I felt it dragged a little and on occasion may have felt redundant, I could see where the author was heading and I was impressed by the way she wove her story together. There were a few typographical errors but I am sure they will be addressed.

This is a romantic book, with suspense thrown in. I was delighted to find that there will be another book in the series and I will be reading that one too.

Well done B.A. Dillon on your debut novel. You made me think, laugh and cry and that is a good thing.

Emma lost her husband of 24 years and doesn't think that she will ever venture into the dating game again. She just can't. She feels like it would dishonor her husband. Her friends keep trying to set her up, but she doesn't even feel that she can do casual dating until her friend's Memorial Day BBQ where she meets Luke. He's nothing like she's ever thought to be attracted to, but instantly she feels a connection to him. Her nightmares that she has been having since her husband's death are making a little more sense.

Luke has never wanted to be in a committed relationship. He either wanted what his parents had or nothing at all. He's an undercover cop and the job is really taking its toll on him. He begrudgingly attends his partner's Memorial Day BBQ and is blown away by one of the attendees. He's blown away. He knows they have met before. He slowly starts trying to pursue this woman who got beneath his defenses.

Emma tells Luke about her dreams and that she thinks they have indeed met before, just not in this life. She feels there is a message in her dreams if she can just be brave enough to play them to the end. She finally decides to do a past life regression, but Luke is against it. She needs to convince him that in her heart and gut she knows that if she doesn't learn from these dreams, her life will change for the worse.

I was given this book to read and I thought for sure that I had the story line pegged before I got halfway through the book. I was so wrong, and I was happily surprised by what actually happens. I have to say that B.A. Dillon crafted a story that had me unable to put the book down once I started reading.
We start off with the female lead Emma, she has just lost her husband of 24 years and is trying to work through the grief that goes along with that. She is a middle school guidance counselor during the day, and at night she has a recurring dream that she feels a strong connection too. Looking for answers she leans on her sister and a therapist to try and help her figure it all out.
Luke is an undercover detective, and after losing his love years before, he is happy to just do his job and keep his men safe. The pierced and tattooed cop is invited to a barbeque where he and Emma are introduced.
From the first hand shake they both know that something is going on but neither know just what that is, and Luke wants to look into it more and meet with her.
Emma has fears of meeting Luke after her husbands death, but in time she comes around.
The love story that is told in this book is super sweet, and there are a lot of moments that will make you swoon.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

When it is time for souls to meet, there is nothing on earth that can prevent it from happening. That’s what Emma Finch realizes after her first encounter with Luke Myers. A confirmed bachelor and undercover cop, Luke has made his job his life. Since his first love died tragically in a car accident, Luke hasn’t been seriously interested in anyone … until he meets Emma.

This Book is so heart touching! The characters are so in-sync with each other. Emma and Luke were detesting to be with each other! After Emma's Husband of 24 years passes away, she starts having these vivid dreams about a woman and man. She believes its about her and her late husband, but after meeting detective Luke Myers, she knows its about the two of them. Luke Myers is a undercover cop who works entirely too much. He has no one but his father left in his life after his mother past from cancer, and fiance pass from a horrible car accident. He believed he had nothing to live for until he met Emma at a Co-workers barque on evening. After saying hello and shaking her hand he knew he wanted to get to know her a whole lot more. Emma Changed Luke's life and Luke changed Emma's. This Book will bring you to tears. Dillon kept you on your toes through the whole book. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author!

TETHERED THROUGH TIME • B.A. Dillon

I enjoyed reading the love story of Emma and Luke. They made it seem so easy to fall in love. It was just simple; they knew almost right away and the way the author wrote the story it was believable.

Even while dealing with a reoccurring dream that Emma can't explain she stays strong and confident. She believes the couple she is dreaming of has something to do with a past life about her and Luke. While he is having a hard time understanding Luke is supportive and protective.

★Quietly she whispers, “Luke, I love you and I will love you until the day I die. If there’s a life after that … I will love you in that life as well.”★

★"There are no more words to say – just a kiss that lasts for minutes and a love that seems to have transcended time."★

Danger and trouble soon follow and both have to make choices that the other doesn't like. These decisions test the relationship but their love is so strong that you know that they will make it through.

The author wrote this very well and I enjoyed everything about it. The main characters and the side characters were wonderful! If you're looking for a book that has romance, joy, love and just enough mystery then this is a good book to grab.

I loved the synopsis of this book and that the main characters were at the more mature end of the age spectrum. Second time romances just have something that makes my spine tingle.

Luke and Emma were a very likeable couple and the insta love didn’t really put my off like some insta romances can. I think it had to do with their ages, knowing that through their experiences, they just had to grab a chance when it was given to them. There was also the link to a love in a previous life and the definition of soul mates.

I must be honest as at the start this was a slow burner and it took me a few attempts to get on board with the storyline. It was hard going but I’m glad I persevered as by the end of it I was left with a lovely warm glow.

Overall a sweet and touching romance with a hot tattooed cop and his love for the woman who was always his and vice versa. There’s hope for us all I guess. A truly magical love story.

The story of Emma and Luke.
Emma is very recently widowed and feels guilty that one of the last conversations she had with her husband involved her saying that their marriage was on the rocks. She is also a high school guidance counselor, and has recurring dreams of a young woman and a man named Will.
Luke is a cop who has been undercover (probably too much).
I enjoyed the fact that they were both in their late 40s, and had both already lived a full life before meeting each other. I felt as though that really allowed the characters to grow together in a quicker way, as they did not want to waste time.
I found it very interesting as the author wove in the dreams. Had the two met before? Is this a serious case of déjà vu?
A very enjoyable story with a satisfying ending. The author set up nicely for a second book involving a few characters we met in this story.

It took me a little bit to really "get into" the book...but once I finally did I thoroughly enjoyed it! What an interesting concept & beautiful love story!! One thing I enjoyed about this book was the age of Emma & Luke. Both in their late 40's...more mature with their relationship, honest about their feelings & no game playing. That's refreshing for a love story. The dream Emma would keep having about Will & Caroline was amazing...I loved how it all tied together. Simply beautiful.

"I will love you forever. I will love you for every minute of this life, and in every life beyond this one."

I'm grateful for the opportunity to read & review and would encourage others to take a chance on a new author and read this beautiful love story. I'm anxious to dive into book 2 about Mia & Issac!

(3.5 stars)

Emma is a recent widow and mother of two kids who are already out of the house. Her marriage was, well it was good, but as relationships go by the end there wasn’t much left. Now she seems to have a bit of guilt that her husband died while she was contemplating divorce.

One night hanging out with friends she meets Luke, a detective who is also single.

Emma has become plagued with dreams, not so good dreams. Dreams that seem so real, and in fact leave her an emotional mess after some of them. What do these dreams mean? Why are they feeling so real? What impact is this going to have on their relationship? All these are answered in this drama, action packed story. I give this 3.5 MJ stars.

This is my first time reading one of B.A. Dillon's books and I look forward to reading the rest of the Time Series. I really enjoyed the start to this story and the concept of having a past life. I had a visual of Luke the whole way and boy was that visual perfect. There was an area in the middle of the book where it felt slow, but once you get past that area you will be hooked. I started getting anxious to see the meaning and ending to Emma's dream about Will and Caroline. The reason it is a four and not a five star, some of the dialogue, plus Emma and Luke said "I love you" too much. Overall, I truly enjoyed this story and Dillon had me guessing what would happen next. I definitely recommend this book, it is a perfect lazy Sunday delicious read.
