Wes Dawson
Most kids have summer camp. I had Cottonwood Creek--helping Pops on the ranch, roping at the county fair, and raising hell with my best friend. It's been over a decade since I set foot on Dawson Ranch, but when Pops suffers a heart attack, I reluctantly head back to convince him it's time to sell. I don't expect to get swept back into the ranch life again, but the fresh air, long horseback rides through the fields, and a fiery redhead down the road have me questioning if the life I built in the city is worth holding on to.

Sawyer Addams
Horses don't judge, and they don't disappoint, which is why I prefer to spend my days training them and lending my neighbor, Pops, a hand around his ranch. When Wes Dawson rolls up to my place with a flat tire and a bad attitude, his condescending sneer is impossible to ignore, no matter how hard I try. As much as I’d love to send this city boy packing, Pops made him a deal, and now I’m stuck working with him. But the more time I spend with Wes, the easier it is to see through the hardened city veneer to the country boy he used to be, and resisting him in those Levi’s and that Stetson becomes a lot harder.

I don’t usually sign up for cowboy romance ARC‘s, because I spent some time on farms and in stables as a little girl, they can feel inauthentic in a lot of ways. Some authors just seem to want to take that trope off their list without doing too much research.
I am happy to report- This book is not one of those.
From getting before the sun has even risen, communal ranch cooking, the saddle chafe and to the not going to bed until the sun is set, this book has a good level of realism.
This book is in multiple ways, kind of a second chance romance.
Not just because the MMC seem to have a bit of a crush on the FMC when they were younger, but the MMC really falls back in love with the first place he felt at home as a child.

The idea of home and figuring out what you want (later in life) are two big themes.
Feeling too old to change, like you should just give up and keep going on the path you are already on causes a lot of unhappiness for many people. The MMC feels stuck in his life and it’s just going along with what everybody wants from him because some part of him is petrified he id letting others down. He’s almost closed himself off from everyone; he is unemotional about everything. When he arrives back to the ranch, he’s just simmering in anger and not a little bit of depression. Luckily, he finds the kick in his pants that he needs in the form of a fiery red head.

I was provided an ARC copy, in return for sharing my thoughts. 4.5 stars but Goodreads doesn’t do half stars so a full at the top.

I read a lot of weird things, but this fantastic book was an absolutely, glorious, palette cleanser. Small town romances aren’t my usual gig, but I’m trying to extend out of my comfort and knowledge zone, also everyone likes Horses.

Wes is a poor little (not really) man, that doesn’t realise how much he hates his life as a City Slicker Accountant. He returns to his grandfathers farm, with the terrible task of trying to get him to sell it. I didn’t really understand where his initial anger was coming from, though he was stuck with a crappy task, he acknowledges that he had fun on the farm as a child, and he absolutely loves his grandfather.

Sawyer, the most beautiful sexy redhead I have ever read in my life, came into the story like an absolute whirlwind, and I fell in love with her the moment I met her dog.

I have a lot of things to say about this book, but I don’t want to risk spoilers for the people who actually read reviews before the book.

The premise of the story was simple and captivating, though Wes and Sawyer were at each other’s throats for the first third of the book, the relationship that developed in between them felt natural and not forced. It was pitched as an HEA but I was still a bit surprised by how it turned out in the end. It ends the way you’d expect but Wes is obnoxiously thoughtful and sweet when he’s not using his free time being an @$$. The characters were extremely likeable, and the amount of times I unattractively snorted while reading had my coworkers looking at me like I had three heads.

E.A. Buckingham is forever added to my favourite authors list and I’ll be eagerly awaiting more Cottonwood Creek Novels.

💬 Sooooo good! (Said Teen Girl Squad style 🤣 I know I'm really showing my age here lol)

But seriously this was such a great read. It was a little slow to start- I felt like it dragged a little, but it really sucked me in around 30% and BOOM I sat down and read the rest in one go because I couldn't put it down.

I love how Sawyer was such a spitfire- a strong, confident and badass FMC without being obnoxious about it. I usually avoid reading books where the FMC is described that way because, a lot of times their character becomes over the top.

And Wes 🥵 all I can say is woof. He's confident and protective and but utter mush and oh so swoony when it comes to Sawyer. That filthy mouth of his 🔥🫦

I also loved the Lupus storyline and the small town vibes, and grandpa just keeping things real 🤣 I also appreciated how while there was miscommunication between the MCs, it wasn't a long drawn out thing where you want to punch a wall.

I could go on about everything I loved but I don't want to give too much away 😉

This is my first read from this author, but it def won't be my last. Here's hoping it's Allie who gets her HEA in the next one 🤞🤞

One of the first books I ever read as a teen was 16 and dying. That book still has my heart and I'm sure you can imagine how much I loved this book as well! I am so happy that I was chosen as an ARC reader because this is not my typical book choice BUT after reading it I'm so glad I did! "You gonna show me how you ride, city boy?"

"I don’t usually show women how I ride in the broad daylight, but I’ll make an exception for you, Red."

Oh these two were ❤️‍🔥 HOT ❤️‍🔥 and I loved every single minute of it!!

Wes Dawson used to come to his grandparents ranch in the summers but after growing up and moving to the city where he works with his father he forgot how much he loved the rancher life. When his grandpa suffers a heart attack his father sends him to convince him that it’s time to sell the ranch. When he gets there he has an encounter with Sawyer Addams an old friend who fights him tooth’s and nails with his reasoning for being there.

Sawyer is a horse trainer and lends a hand to Pops (Wes’s grandpa) when he needs it. She was such a spitfire, stubborn, grumpy, badass woman who didn’t mind sharing her thoughts. She’s been through some rough times and suffers from a chronic illness that affects her job at times but she refuses to let that stop her.

Wes is an accountant in the city but when he gets back he slowly remembers how much he loved working in the ranch with his grandpa and best friend and finally sees how much he disliked his city job. Pops might had have a heart attack but he is still the soul of the party 😂

This was such a beautiful story not only because of the romance but because it deals with serious topics (chronic illness), friendships, expectations from your family, doubts in yourself, and the feeling of finally coming home.

I loved how fun and spicy their relationship was. The friendships were so cute to see but the found family was everything!

Let me start by saying that Wes has easily slid into the top 5 book boyfriends for me 😭

I’ve never been a big cowboy romance girlie but I gotta say this might just make me a forever fan! Sawyer is one of the fieriest FMCs I’ve come across in a long time and it’s beyond refreshing. She doesn’t let anyone or anything stop her from getting what she wants and no one can ever prepare for her venomous tongue! I adore a strong FMC that stands her ground and doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do or how to feel and that is Sawyer down to the bone.

On the opposite side we have Wes who has an extremely kind heart and is the perfect recipient for Sawyers wit. The push and pull between the characters makes you feel like you’re right there in the story.

I’m not one to every really touch of the steamy parts of a book and very rarely ever rate them, but let me just say there is one scene in particular that I don’t think I’ll ever forget 🥵

(In the 🛻… iykyk) 🥵😅

In this story, we meet Sawyer and Wes. They’ve known each other since they were kids and Wes returns to Pops’s ranch in the efforts to convince him to sell. Enter Sawyer and her fiery self.
A journey to rediscovering yourself and finding love. Encouraging to those that haven’t found that love yet in life. Don’t give up!
I am also so pleased to find a story that is very accurate in the farm world.
I was also happy to find the author gave justice to a character with Lupus. My mother fought a couple years and a few doctors before finally reaching her Lupus diagnosis.

This is a beautifully written cowboy love story between two people who initially couldn't stand each other - one, a city boy on a mission back in the small town of his childhood, vs. a bonifide cowgirl horse trainer. The author has a unique way of navigating the twists and turns of not only a growing love story but the everyday life on the ranch. It was a great book that I found completely enjoyable, and I highly recommend it. ⚘️

Thank you netgalley for the arc too review!

I devoured this book in one sitting—I simply couldn’t put it down! It’s a fun, spicy, and laugh-out-loud read that follows the fiery dynamic between city boy Wes and no-nonsense country gal Sawyer.

Wes returns to his family’s ranch as an uptight, reluctant outsider, determined to convince his father to sell. Meanwhile, Sawyer wants nothing to do with the man she sees as an arrogant outsider. But when their undeniable attraction reaches a breaking point, we’re taken on a slow-burn romance filled with sizzling chemistry, self-discovery, and the question of what they truly want out of life.

If you love a filthy-mouthed city boy-turned-cowboy and a fierce, redheaded spitfire who tells it like it is, this book is for you!

Releasing April 10th—don’t miss it!

Quotes:

"I want to get to know this woman with all her fire and warmth and that lively glow that's always on display. She's effervescent and I'm completely enraptured by her, like a moth drawn to a flame. I hope she doesn't light me on fire. Or maybe that's exactly what I want her to do, come to think of it. To feel the heat lick up my skin and set me fully ablaze."

"I love when he looks at me like this. Like I'm the only one he sees in a whole crowd of people. His dark gaze eats me up, and I idly wonder when that look in his eyes changed from wanting to kill me to wanting to devour me."

Short version:

This cowboy romance delivers witty banter, authentic small-town charm, and a compelling push-pull dynamic between Wes and Sawyer as they clash over his grandfather’s ranch. While the characters occasionally feel a bit familiar, their chemistry shines. The well-paced writing and engaging relationships make it a worthwhile read.

Tropes:

- city boy/country girl
- grumpy/grumpy
- slow burn
- chronic illness rep

Plot Summary:

When Wes Dawson’s grandfather suffers a heart attack, Wes’s father insists that he head to Cottonwood Creek to convince his grandfather to sell the ranch. Wes spent every summer in Cottonwood Creek as a kid, but he hasn’t been back since high school.
On his way into town, Wes gets a flat tire and ends up stranded in front of Sawyer’s house. He hasn’t seen Sawyer since their childhood summers spent running wild in the Texas heat. But things have changed. Sawyer’s grown up — she’s gorgeous, sharp-tongued, and more than a little fiery.
Since Wes’s grandfather fell ill, Sawyer has been helping him around the ranch, and she’s fiercely protective of both the land and the man who owns it. As Wes tries to convince Sawyer that selling the ranch is the best thing for his grandfather, Sawyer pushes back, insisting that giving up the farm would break his grandfather’s spirit. With both Wes and Sawyer determined to do what they believe is right, the two find themselves at odds — even as old sparks begin to reignite.

The Good:

The writing itself was excellent — the pacing, flow, and style all made for an enjoyable read. The author has clearly done her research — the setting feels authentic, and the small-town details add depth to the story. I also appreciated the realistic friendships, particularly between Sawyer and Allie. Their bond felt genuine and well-developed.

I’m a big fan of Wes. AN ACTS OF SERVICE MAN THROUGH AND THROUGH. And that will always set my heart into a pitter patter. Not only does he tolerate Sawyer’s snark — he seems to enjoy it. Their banter is top-notch, and Wes consistently gives as good as he gets. There’s something undeniably sexy about a man who’s good with animals, and all his love for Sawyer’s horses and her dog, Dixie, had me falling hard. Plus, he’s got the whole protective thing going on, he never undermines Sawyer’s independence — he trusts her to fight her own battles.

And speaking of Sawyer, I know readers can be harder on grumpy women than grumpy men, but I loved her fiery nature and sharp wit. But I especially love that she loves as much as she fights, and that she’s so good to the people and animals in her life.

The chemistry sizzled between them, and it was the perfect slow burn. And when they finally got together… the spice was good. Truly, no matter how many cowboy romances I read that feature the classic tied-up-in-a-barn scene, I will never, ever, ever get tired of it.

The In-Between:

I think I would have liked a clearer explanation for Wes’ emotional shifts. The progression from gruffness to vulnerability felt a little rushed, and I wanted a more meaningful explanation for it.

The Bad:

I feel like the book almost avoided the unnecessary third-act drama. It wasn’t enough to ruin the book, but it did leave me feeling a bit frustrated.

Spicy Chapters: 26, 28, 32, 34, 37
Cheating: No
Third-act Breakup: No

Roped In by E.A. Buckingham-Young

After his grandfather suffers from a heart attack, Wes returns to the family ranch. His plan is to convince his grandfather that the ranch is too much for an old man to handle and that the best course of action is selling the property.

One of the first things that happens to Wes when he arrives in town is an encounter with local horse trainer, Sawyer. It turns out that Sawyer is close with Wes’s grandfather, and she’s been helping him recover from his heart attack.

Sawyer’s animosity is not Wes’s only problem. It turns out that his grandfather isn’t interested in selling out. Eventually, they reach an agreement. If Wes spends eight weeks on the ranch, his grandfather will consider selling.

To make Wes’s time on the ranch more appealing, his grandfather reaches out to Sawyer, he asks her to have Wes help her with a horse she’s training, pointing out that it might be something Wes will enjoy. She reluctantly agrees.

If you’re someone who likes romances that get spicy at the start of the book, Roped In might not be for you. But if you’re a patient romance reader who is willing to allow a story to build and for the characters to experience some tension before they start to burn up the bedsheets, you’ll like this cowboy romance. The first half is where you learn that Sawyer suffers from Lupis and that Wes is the sweetest caretaker, and who doesn’t love a MMC who is kind, sweet, and attentive.

Except for some mild swearing, the first half of Roped In is relatively clean. That changes at about the 50% mark. It’s at about this point that Wes and Sawyer share some heartwarming romance in a corn maze. When they leave the corn maze, they go straight to Sawyer’s house and things turn delightfully steamy.

Not only do things get spicy at this point, they also get funny. The banter between the pair once they give into the romantic tension is truly delightful.

The last 20% of the book swings back to the original plot about what to do about the ranch. I was actually surprised at how believable I found this section. Yes, there is some miscommunication, but it’s nowhere near as bad as I’ve read in some other books. I feel that the concerns Wes wrangles with, especially the ones that pertain to his career and financial future, are valid. I almost wish they would have been explored a bit more.

I was delighted with this cowboy romance. It’s good, escapism romance that hits all the right notes. There was only one scene with a horse that caused me to roll my eyes. I appreciated that, Lucifer, one the horses featured in the book is reactive to noise since my own show horse has always been hypersensitive to certain noises.

Roped In will be released on April 10th and will be a part of the Kindle Unlimited program.

I did receive a free digital copy of Roped In from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall: 4.5🌟

Once again, EA Buckingham-Young figures out how to tackle real-life stressors and concerns while wrapping it in a wonderful story and some really yummy good spicy bits!

Wes, a CPA in his mid 30’s, is clearly just floating along in life, trying not to disappoint anyone. That’s right, anyone. If you’re a people-pleaser, you know how un-satisfying, perhaps even defeating, that can be. So when he’s been tasked with getting his grandfather, Pops, to sell the family ranch, the one Pops loves and Wes himself loved as a kid, is a lose-lose situation.

Toss in a fiery red-head who he’s known for years, one who’s no longer the little kid that used to tag along behind him during childhood summers, and now has zero-filter, calls it like she sees it, and holds absolutely zero-punches, and you know you’re going to have some serious fireworks.

Sawyer, or Red as Wes calls her, is just a delight but she has to grow on you. Her walls as sky-high, her bluntness can come across as gentle as a cactus, but once she lets you in? Let’s just say she’s the one you want in your corner, at your side, or watching your back. She’s the half-domesticated cat who hisses at everyone, but allows unlimited tummy rubs to the maybe 5 people.

Wes & Sawyer trying to figure one another out, Wes struggling with the weight of expectations, Sawyer fighting her feelings, it all comes together so well! You want to stand up for Wes initially before we see Sawyer’s softer side, then you’ll want to challenge Wes when Sawyer calls him on his BS, then cry with them each when you learn more of their struggles!

Thank you to Ms. Buckingham-Young for the opportunity to read and review this book! I am beyond excited to see the rest of the gang find their HEA!
All opinions are my own.

Oh!!! And the mouth on Wes! Oh my… he has a substantial , er, vocabulary…

I was absolutely pleasantly surprised by this book. I loved that it seemed to be opposite of most western romances and Wes was the city boy who left the country behind while Sawyer was the girl who could never leave. When Wes shows up to help his grandfather with the ranch, his father tasks him with convincing the old man to sell the ranch. The second Wes had showed up, Sawyer had an immediate disliking towards him but when they start to work so closely together on Dawson Ranch, she slowly warms up to the cowboy that lies underneath Wes’s city self. They both start to open up about past heartbreaks and their walls they’ve built are being broken down…. But Wes still has a difficult decision to make about what he wants to do with his life…. going back to the city or staying in the small town he forgot he loved so much…

The banter between Sawyer and Wes…. wooooo, you could feel the tension,Sawyer is absolutely badass and independent even with the struggles she faces with a chronic illness. She’s passionate about ranch life and has a smart mouth on her. Wes isn’t far behind with the quick comebacks and quips, but you can tell underneath the surface, he has a heart of gold even though at first he seems a bit lost not knowing what he wants in life. I loved reading their story. It was perfectly executed and I was hooked on every word. I’m glad I had the pleasure to ARC read this and I can’t wait for book two!!

I'm going to be honest, I haven't read a lot of cowboy romances. I just didn't have an interest in them until recently. When I read the synopsis of Roped In, I couldn't walk away without reading it. I don't regret it!

Wes returns to Dawson Ranch, where he spent his youth summers ranching with his grandpa, the third generation owner of the land. Although Wes arrives under the guise of helping his grandfather with work around the ranch after he had a recent heart attack, Wes and his father had crafted a plan to finally convince his grandfather to sell the ranch and move to the city. Sawyer, after a chance run-in with city boy Wes, realizes the game that's afoot and immediately stands against Wes' plans. As old acquaintances and now enemies, Sawyer is not happy but very willing to try to sway Wes away from selling the ranch under his grandpa's attempt to thwart the original plan. Tempers flying, tension rising, and unmistakeable attraction change the course of everyone's plans in this story of how a city boy turns back into a cowboy, even if it's only for a few months.

Roped In is a cowboy romance with enemies to lovers vibes and strong family impact, working through self-awareness and discovery in the MC's 30s, and learning to challenge expectations. Definitely recommend!

This is the story of Wes, who has been sent to his grandpa's ranch with one mission: convince the old man to sell. While this city boy begins his mission, he becomes reacquainted with Sawyer, the loudest woman this town has ever seen. Will they rip each other apart, or fall in love?

The Good:
There's a fair amount of cute banter.
This is your quintessential "return from the big city to be reminded of your roots" story, except on the Hallmark Channel it's always the lady who returns home. It's fun to see it be the man who is rediscovering himself instead.
We have a sunshine-grump story in which the woman is the grump! Sawyer is mean as a whip, and I love her for it.

The Bad:
I feel like we could have used a little more of Wes's thoughts. Listen, I get that this a romance and we get plenty of Wes lusting over Sawyer, but I could have really used a little more about his plans for the ranch.

In conclusion:
This is a very fun cowboy romance where the woman is the real cowboy and the man is a lost soul waiting to be wrangled.

- Coming home

I was so thrilled to read this book. I ADORE cowboy romances and this one ticked all of the boxes for me. And the FMC Sawyer? She is so grumpy, so bristly, so prickly, so loyal. I just loved every aspect of her.

Wes is back in Cottonwood Creek reluctantly. He has grown accustomed to living in the city, but his father sent him to help out his grandfather - Pops - and to try to convince him to finally sell. Pops had a medical incident and Wes's father thinks it's time for him to stop working Dawson Ranch. But ranching is in Pops' genes.

Sawyer lives nearby and has been helping Pops out when she can. She sees Wes's return for what it is - and she wants nothing more than for him to leave as fast as possible. But she still remembers how Wes was while they were growing up..and despite her best efforts, she still very much likes him...

The banter between Wes and Sawyer is absolute top notch. I was giggling and stomping my feet at times.

Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
“Roped In” was the cozy, sweet romance that I didn’t know I was missing. It has all the charm of a small-town romance with low stakes and plenty of yearning.
Buckingham-Young has delivered yet again with a wonderful story. It’s different than the other books I’ve read from her, but it was just as delectable. Wes and Sawyer are both in their thirties and grumpy as can be. But that made their dynamic and banter really fun.
Sawyer isn’t going to dampen her fire, but Wes really likes that about her. While there is plenty of spice—I can’t believe I’m saying this—but I found the yearning and the genuine respect between Wes and Sawyer more gratifying.
Not to mention, it was so nice to see some chronic illness rep in a romance book. We never get that. It feels nice to be seen.
But anyways, if you want a toothachingly sweet cowboy romance between a grumpy city boy and a grumpier horse trainer, look no further. “Roped In” is the fun, cozy cowboy romance you need this spring!

This book had me from the start story but sawyer is such a spitfire I love her attitude towards Wes cause he has the stuck up city type attitude and she definitely isnt taking any crap from him. He's comes from the city to come convince his pop to sell the ranch as his health us declining rapidly but he's has the attitude of a stuck up accountant and has forgot who he really is at heart wes used to love helping out on the ranch when younger but with working for his dad he had forgotten the real him and his real love for the ranch till he is working and helping out on the ranch he soon realises he's falling back in love with this country lifewheb he ends up riding cash horse sure do make you realise how much love they give out. Wes helps sawyer with her challenged horse but he's notices she's not her self but that's because she has lupus and it can be very draining so she's slowly letting her guard down a little. This really shows the love horses can give you ect aswell as the front both sawyer and wes put up until they start letting eachother in.

I received the eARC for my honest opinion.

This was my first cowboy romance and let me tell you the way that E.A. Buckingham-Young writes cowboy romances, I definitely will be reading more of them now. I loved how refreshing it was to read a romance book with cowboys and cowgirls in it, I loved the simple but amazing setting that the author gave to the readers. The small town romance, second chances, the writing is captive and will have you turning the pages to see what will happen next, or just because you know that you will get a great laugh out of the banter between the characters, there is some steamy scenes, great character development and after you’re done reading the book you will wish that there was another Cottonwood Creek Novel to read.

The characters and their animals are what really steal the story away… okay and the way that this author writes them, makes you feel as though you know them in real life. I found the characters to be relatable and easy to connect with. I loved their hard way of life and at the same time something so simple that makes me want to do ranching as well… Okay well I might only last like a day, maybe two at the most. Wes was well… a kid who would visit his grandfather’s farm when he was younger and he would help him out, but as he got older, he thought he would have to follow in his father’s footsteps instead of the life that he has always wanted. I enjoyed getting to know his character more, I found him to be an adult that wasn’t living the life that he wanted but doing what others would like him to do. It was fun getting to see him break down the walls of himself that he built around his heart and the life that he has always wanted, I enjoyed watching him come out of his shell and being happy. He is so sweet, and I loved watching how he treated Sawyer and the way that he took care of her when she had a flare up. Sawyer, she is a spit fire, and I loved it. I liked that she didn’t have a filter, she is witty, funny, gives as much as she can take and cares about her life and the neighbors who have been there for her. She is the definition of a redhead but, deep down inside she is just a woman who wants to be loved and not treated like trash. I loved that Buckingham-Young wrote a female character who was grumpy, and hard instead of the male. For me that made it feel real with Sawyer because most of the time women who have been through hell and back are not the nicest, but who have a love for animals and that is their therapy. The chemistry and tension between these characters was spot on and will keep you on your toes… Can I just say the barn scene was HOT!!!

I can’t say anymore because I will read spoilers, so instead if you haven’t read any cowboy romances yet, you should pick up this book and make it your first, and if you have already read them then add this one to you must be read.

I want to thank the author for the opportunity to review this book.

*ARC REVIEW*

First, thank you sooo @e.a.buckingham_young much for choosing me as an ARC reader!
Second, I am OBSESSED with this book! This is my first cowboy romance, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this book!!! Honestly, obsessed might be an understatement!

🌶🌶🌶🌶5/5 Spicy!!! 🥵😍

This SPICE, the characters, and the story! Sooo good! I enjoyed the small town romance and the humor throughout the book. Sawyer has a red hot temper just like her hair! She knows exactly what she wants, independent, sarcastic, and sweet to the people she loves. Wes is officially my new fictional crush!! Who doesn't love a man in a Stetson? He's stubborn and sensitive, AND he's a cowboy?!!! I love the characters that come along, too. Pops had my heart since the beginning!!!! He's my favorite character in this book!!! I'm definitely recommending this book over and over again!

4.5 rounded to 5.

Sawyer and Wes were so cute together!

For her cowboy premiere, I really enjoyed E.A.’s introduction to Cottonwood Creek. Wes is such a good character, who goes back to Dawson Ranch to convince his grandpa to sell it, but ends up finding himself and a love he never expected. I loved watching his character evolve and go back to his ranch roots, to finally decide what he wants matters most, and say I choose you to a woman who finally made him feel.

Sawyer was a spicy redhead who is used to depending on no one, while struggling with a silent health issue, and trying to maintain her farm while helping Dawson Ranch too. She is a spitfire and doesn’t mind telling it like it is, or putting Wes in his place. But that week she was down with her Lupus Flareup and Wes was there to take care of her…I knew that was it! They were great together!

Thank you E.A. Buckingham-Young for the chance to ARC read Roped In.

I received this as an ARC.Roped In was my first cowboy romance and I’m here for it. I loved the small town vibes, the grumpy MCs who were both in their 30s and that he falls first. My first impression of Wes wasn’t great as he came in hot as a complainer. He found his love of Dawson Creek Ranch quickly and turned his attitude around. Sawyer had a sassy mouth from the start and I loved it. They resisted so hard at first but when they stopped resisting it was sooo good. I also loved the imperfect backgrounds for both characters and how they got to where they are in the story. Sawyer also battles a chronic illness which makes her character more relatable in many ways. I will definitely read the second book. Nothing super unexpected happened or surprised me but this was a super easy read and I finished it in 24 hours. Very enjoyabl.

I want to be Sawyer when I grow up, she’s my new girl crush. That woman is strong, and takes zero ish. “Ever since my divorce, I’ve made a point not to give a fuck what anyone else thinks. I wear what I want. I say what I want. I live the way I want to live. I won’t change myself to be more palatable for anyone.”
Like I said girl crush.

I wasn’t sure about Wes at first because he seemed kind of like a jerk…..he did grow on me. He proved o be kind, caring and a touch of a dirty talker. “I might live in the city, but I can still fuck like a cowboy. Let’s get out of here, Red."

*shrugs* I like what I like 😉

The small town characters are true to a small town and the meddling had me giggling.

I would absolutely recommend this to a friend and will also impatiently wait for another book in this series.

I requested this book on NetGalley on a whim because I cannot pass up a ranch romance and it did not disappoint! Wes visits his grandfather on his family’s ranch as an attempt to persuade him to sell the farm and move closer to the city due to health reasons. He hasn’t spent time on the ranch in years but finds himself acclimating quickly all while falling for the grumpy girl next door. I didn’t think I’d be down with grump x grumpier, but I was hooked.

Wes may be grumpy but he is such a flirt with a filthy mouth. The banter between these two had me was steamy but also hilarious at some points. The character growth with these two was beautiful. I do think we got to see more of Sawyer’s healing than we did Wes’s. He was so sweet to embrace Sawyer and who she truly is, which is what she needed after her divorce.

This had everything you need in a fun, spicy romance novel! A city-boy finding his roots on grandpa's ranch, the foul-mouthed horse-training neighbor who looks way too good in jeans, a dirty-minded grandpa who doesn't follow rules for "what not to say," a horse in need of a helping hand, and a dog that eats really interesting trash!

The FMC is absolute gold, with her attitude, sassy t-shirts, and unapologetic behavior. I loved the way she tackled life and the challenges she'd faced head on!
The MMC was a perfect character arc, going from uptight city boy that you just hoped would step in some cow poo, to a bonafide cowboy who followed his heart straight to the ranch and his girl.

The tension and build up was great, and the spice was spicing! Hope to read more from Cottonwood Creek!

I am in my cowboy romance era and Roped In was perfect! Wes was so conflicted on what he should do with his life and even though he came Cottonwood Creek to convince his grandpa to sell the ranch and move to the city, he himself feels more relaxed, free and at home here. Wes quickly becomes re-aquatinted with ranching he falls in love with it all over again…he definitely enjoys it more than being an account for his father’s firm. He gets back in you with his childhood friend Tripp. The neighbor, Sawyer quickly catches his eye after a run in on his first day back in town. She seems to always have a sassy remark and a lot of attitude but he finds himself quickly drawn to her and her wildness. These two have some funny banter, steamy nights and some touching moment. They soon realize that this isn’t as casual as they were both trying to convince themselves it was.

Sweet Wes is sent to help his Pops and convince him to sell the ranch. Pops convinces Wes to stay 8 weeks and then he will sell. Wes slowly falls back in love with being a cowboy, all while falling in love with Sawyer.

Sawyer struggles with chronic illness all while caring for Pops and her horse training business. Wes steps in and she finally has someone who takes care of her for once.

I couldn’t put the book down and wanted to just climb in to live at Dawson Ranch. I really want to see more characters. Wes’ sister Quinn, his best friend Tripp, and Sawyer’s best friend Allie all need to be featured in other books. I also loved the meddling towns people like Mrs Mackey.

I loved the switch up of him being the city slicker and her being the one who stayed. Such a minor change to the usual storyline option, but I really liked it!
Wes was great. It was easy to tell he liked being back in Cottonwood Creek, even when he said he didn’t want to be there. He wasn’t happy to be there, sure, but he just didn’t seem happy at all. I like how most of the story fixated on him finding the way back to himself with and through Sawyer a little bit.
Sawyer is one of my new favorite spitfire characters. To have her in a room with some of my other favorites would be amazing! She tells it how it is and kind of has everyone scared of her. Except Wes…. he seems far too into it.
My favorite part of the whole story though is definitely the old folks in town getting involved and gossiping like teens. Because that is 100% the most accurate part of this book and really made it perfect for me!
Thank you to NetGalley for this read!

ARC review - small town romance, horses and a spunky grandpa! I loved this book and would recommend to any romance fan!

Wes is a city boy accountant who grew up spending his summers on his pops farm. He was sent to the farm to talk his pops into selling as his health declines. He didn’t expect to fall for Sawyer, the brutally honest red headed neighbor.

I loved their banter and how Sawyer doesn’t hold back and says what she thinks! I loved the spice scenes and Wes being a bit of a dirty talker.(rope scene was great as well!)

My think my favorite character was pops! I loved the little comments he made to Wes to make him uncomfortable! My Favorite scene was the hide and seek in the corn maze leading to their first kiss!
