Bucket List Kiss by Brinn Gallant
4/5⭐
2,5/5🌶️

"He's my safe place to grow, explore and learn. He's where I feel the most confident."

I just finished another debut novel, and I loved it! Honestly, I fell in love with the cover first—blue is my favorite color, and this one is so pretty! As soon as I saw the tropes and read the blurbs, I was hooked and signed up for the ARC right away. The story revolves around Hannah and Ian. Hannah is recently divorced and has moved in with her best friend’s brother, Levi, to Calgary. She’s trying to get her life back on track, and when she discovers her teenage bucket list, she becomes determined to fulfill each item. Ian, a hockey player and Levi’s best friend, is a total playboy who usually shies away from relationships. But the moment he looks at Hannah, he's instantly drawn to her. When he learns about her bucket list, he offers to help her check things off!

Hannah has such a sunny personality—she’s bold, brave, and always up for trying something new. However, her ex dulled her shine. Now, she tends to overthink everything, struggles with self-doubt, and has low self-esteem. But after her divorce, she’s ready to embrace all the things she’s always wanted to do, including writing a romance novel. It’s so inspiring to see her tackle her bucket list with the support of her friends and slowly rediscover her true self!

Ian also has some baggage from a past relationship, which is why he prefers casual flings and avoids dating. But once he meets Hannah, he realizes he wants more with her. I loved the moment he told her he wanted a relationship and was willing to wait for her to be ready. His patience and constant reassurance make her feel beautiful and special, especially when she’s grappling with doubts and insecurities.

This book beautifully captures the journey of healing, self-discovery, and finding love again. There were so many sweet and heartwarming moments that made me smile. The friendships and found family themes are just wonderful, and the characters are so lovely! I can’t wait to dive into the next book in this series. Huge thanks to Brinn Gallant for the amazing eARC!

"She feels perfect in my arms, like coming home. Like the perfect puzzle piece I didn't know I was missing."

So I got to ARC this book, I absolutely loved it, the characters, the storyline, the setting it was just really really well thought out and written.
Bucket List Kiss follows Hannah on her journey of rediscovering herself by uprooting her life and moving to Calgary to start over. When in Calgary she meets Ian, a hockey player on her brothers team, the connection between them is instant (for one of them at least) and friendship and more starts to blossom between them. I’m not going to spoil any of the story because this is one you all should read.

Hannah the MFC and Ian the MMC were both written so beautifully, their personalities, their quirks, their weaknesses, and their strengths really shine through in this story, I mean Ian would be the perfect real life boyfriend. It’s not just the main characters that were so beautifully written it’s all the supporting characters who weave their way throughout the story that also get you invested in their lives, making you want to know what happens in the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see what Brinn comes out with next

No doubt 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Absolutely loved every second of this book! So grateful I got the opportunity to read and review this as an ARC!

I must say, I felt extremely exposed and seen through Hannah’s character especially, from her self doubt to how she showed affection towards Ian. It felt as if Brinn read all my thoughts and then wrote Hannah’s character based on me.

Same with Ian, his inner dialogue and rambling brought so much light and comedic relief to an uncomfortable situation and I just remember laughing out loud at the things he would think and say. His thoughts and actions towards Hannah were the sweetest ever and he is one of my favourite MMC because he is the epiphany of “if he wanted to, he would”. It was such a joy to be in his head and see how he reacts to Hannah’s doubts and insecurities to showing her how much he truly cares for her in ways that are so special that it warmed my heart reading!

Normally, I don’t reach towards the reverse age gap trope but Brinn did an amazing job at writing it into this book that I was never bothered by it, in fact it almost made it that much better!

So many times it was a struggle to get through a chapter because I was either gasping, giggling, or silently screaming to the point of frustration because I couldn’t go and tell everyone about what was happening or the quote I just read. 😭

Thank-you Brinn for allowing me the opportunity to read this as an ARC and I cannot wait for the rest of the series to come out and hopefully I can read those as ARC’s too❤️

4.5 stars!

I just got my hands on an ARC of Brinn Gallant’s debut novel, Bucket List Kiss, and wow, I’m honestly a bit speechless! This book is such an amazing debut, and it truly deserves all the love and praise it can get. The cover is gorgeous, and the title caught my eye so much that I didn’t even read the blurb before I signed up for the ARC!

The story really touches on themes of self-healing, second chances, and the beauty of new friendships and family. Plus, it shows that love doesn’t have to follow a timeline, which I think is such a lovely idea. And let me tell you, it’s filled with some steamy moments that add to the excitement!

I absolutely loved how Brinn took me on Hanna’s journey to rediscover her true self after her difficult marriage. It was so inspiring to see her courage as she got her life back on track, tackling her bucket list one exciting item at a time! And let me tell you, Ian is such a delightful character—definitely perfect book boyfriend material!

If you’re in the mood for some feel-good moments after a good read, I highly recommend this book! It’s super easy to dive into, and all the characters are unique and incredibly likable. Plus, there are plenty of enjoyable spicy scenes to keep things interesting!

I received an ARC of this book! As always, my thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

Had to put 4 stars since it wouldn’t let me put a half 🙄 book is totally 4.5 stars & 3.5 spice for me!!!

“He brought me a sense of peace I knew I was missing but didn’t know how to find. He’s given me my confidence back, he’s encouraged me, taken care of me, and pushed me out of my comfort zone. Never judging, just there. I need to stop denying what’s here and just embrace it.” - Hannah

“I never understood why men in movies lost it over a woman wearing their cowboy hat. But damn. I get it now. My breath actually catches as she settles it properly on her head and pulls her blonde braid over one of her shoulders. It makes her look like she’s mine.” - Ian

I’m going to be thinking about Hannah & Ian’s story for a long time. This book was so well written & the love story is just beautiful. 💗

Hannah is fresh out of a divorce and not expecting to find love again, she was prepared to just have fun and live her life the way she wanted to while checking off her bucket list. I felt so seen through all of her self doubts and some lack of confidence while reading her chapters and her inner dialogue.

Ian, a cat daddy AND HAS A RANCH!! 😍 had his heart broken in the past and really was not looking into settling down any time soon until she catches his eye.
The inner dialogue of this man had me laughing constantly!

The relationship, support & patience between these two was incredible from the start! This book had me gasping, laughing & screaming internally at how cute the story was!

I’m honoured to have been a part of the ARC team, this book has so many memorable moments for me! AND it’s set in Canadian provinces which isn’t something I’ve seen a lot of. I’m already so excited for what else is in store for this series!

#Review: *Bucket list kiss* - Brinn Gallant - ARC [18+]
3.8/5✨
3/5🌶️

The title and the main idea of this book convinced me to apply for an ARC. Brinn was so sweet to accept me for this and I want to thank her.

Hannah thought that she was in a pretty happy marriage, but after a couple of years, she found out that her husband was cheating on her. Now she has started a new life without him and, to be far from him, Hannah moved in with her best friend's little brother, Levi. He was a hockey player and this was the tie to Ian, who was his teammate.

Ian was a player when it came to women, but from the first moment he saw Hannah, he was mesmerized by her and was determined to have her. So, he took advantage of Hannah's wish, to accomplish her bucket list from her teenage years, and helped her check items from it. With this opportunity, he got closer to her and they both realized how well they fit together.

Both of them had some previous love issues, which were still impacting them, making them to be in a continuously doubt, but that was part of their healing process.

The story was easy to follow, some drama was present, many joyful parts where members of the hockey team and their ladies were present. Like usual, those were my favorite parts, having a really great time following them and giggling a bit.

Overall, it was a good read, being the debut book of Brinn. This story gave me a feeling that it's gonna be part of a series, but I don't really know for sure. We should see if that's correct.

I thought this was such a sweet and wholesome love story. This is Brinn’s debut novel and she hit it out of the park! I love a Canada based romance and the references to the east coast as an east coast Canadian myself, the best ♥️.

I found Hannah’s character relatable and her situation very common. I myself have been in that situation coming out of a bad relationship and wondering how you lost yourself trying to be what someone else wanted you to be. It’s a hard and often scary time trying to pick up the pieces and start over. The idea of a bucket list to complete was a fun way to help Hannah find herself again while also connecting with the new people in her life.

I loved Ian. He is the literal guy you want everyday. He was so patient with Hannah, never trying to pressure her, but always ready with the sweetest gestures to show her how special she is and make her feel seen, appreciated, supported and loved. I’m not even a cat person and the fact that he was a cat dad left me swooning for this man. I loved that even though he knew what he wanted, he was so patient and steadfast with Hannah, letting her move at her own pace with their relationship and helping her find herself again.

Thank you so much Brinn for allowing me the opportunity to read and review an arc of this book. I loved it and for anyone who is looking for a sweet feel good romance watch for Bucket List Kiss releasing January 15 in paperback, ebook and KU!

I’m honestly so excited to see what happens with the rest of this series.

I received this book as an ARC in exhange for an honest review.

I don’t even know where to begin with this!! If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. I love the chemistry between the characters, and the way Hannah learns to love again, not only other people but herself too. I love how relatable her story was, and how she talked through all the issues normal people face within relationships in her head. I love the found family trope and how everyone was so accepting. I felt this book was such a good read (that I finished it in two days) and will definitely be recommending to everyone!

This book is the cross over of hockey/cowboy romance we didn’t know we needed.

**ARC Review**

*Note: This review contains some spoilers*

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Bucket List Kiss by Brinn Gallant, which was released on January 15, 2025. I started reading it on December 25, 2024, but due to vacation plans and falling sick, it took me a bit longer to finish. Still, it was well worth the read!

The first thing that stood out to me was the dedication: "To all the four-legged emotional support writers." As an animal lover, this instantly warmed my heart.

Brinn Gallant’s writing style is easy to read and incredibly engaging. The storyline is interesting and flows smoothly, thanks to its dual POV of Hannah and Ian. This perspective really helped me connect with both characters and their individual journeys.

One of my favorite aspects of the book is how relatable it feels. There’s a line from Hannah’s POV that resonated deeply with me: "A man that didn't appreciate me. A man that took every opportunity to bring me down." It’s such a raw, honest reflection of toxic relationships—something no one should experience, but sadly, many can relate to.

The inclusion of text message exchanges between the characters added a fun, modern touch to the narrative. It felt realistic and gave more depth to Hannah and Ian’s relationship. Both characters have somewhat similar experiences with their exes, which allows them to relate to each other on a deeper level. I appreciated how the author didn’t shy away from exploring their insecurities. Ian, in particular, is portrayed as vulnerable—a refreshing change from the often stoic male leads in romance novels.

The romance is slow-paced but filled with playful flirting in the beginning, which kept it from feeling dull. Hannah’s journey of self-discovery before diving into something new with Ian felt authentic and empowering. Ian, on the other hand, is healing from the trauma of believing his ex was "the one" until Hannah came into his life. Their emotional growth was realistic and relatable.

The book is also very spicy! Some notable spicy chapters are 13, 19, 20, 24, 26, 28, and 30. The chemistry between Hannah and Ian is electric, and the spice is well-balanced with the emotional depth of the story.

Here are some of my favorite phrases from the book:

"Book boyfriends put all men to shame and raise our standards to incredible levels. Trust me, no boy is gonna make it past the first date. And secondly, a girl should know how to take care of herself before inviting someone else to that experience."

"Relationships aren't meant to reign in your freedom."

"I know it's not a huge age difference, but there is a huge difference between being twenty-three and twenty-nine. Those six years change you. You go from living with rose-colored glasses to being an actual adult."

"I can't see myself ever wanting to walk away from him, I say honestly. Then why are you assuming he's going to walk away from you?"

"Maybe even more so than Lucas, Ian would have the power to shatter my heart, I admit, something I realize Lucas never had the power to do. He just shattered my reality, one that wasn't even true."

"People grow, and most of the time you don't grow at the same speed or even in the same direction."

Overall, Bucket List Kiss is an emotional and spicy romance with a happy ending that left me satisfied. The dual POV, relatable characters, and meaningful quotes made this book an enjoyable read. If you enjoy slow-burn romance with depth and a lot of heart, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up!

I devoured this book before the holidays, but I am just finally posting now! Suddenly I have a looove for sports romance book and this being a hockey romance x cowboy boyfriend makes it 100x better! The second I knew our FMC has a bucket list, I knew I was going to swoon over this book. AND the Canadian cities 🇨🇦 being brought to the book +1!!

- Age Gap
- Golden Retriever boyfriend
- Dual POV

Hannah is our FMC who has a good head on her shoulders and aspiring writer who just went through a recent divorce moves to Calgary and in with Levi (her best friends brother) who she considers to be her brother to start a new life and has a bucket list she wants to check off. Ian who is our lovely golden retriever boyfriend x cowboy and family man who is much younger than Hannah falls in love with our FMC unexpectedly. The concept of the book almost reminded me of A Walk to Remember, and I am a die hard fan of AWTR! I loved the way Brinn brought all the characters to life especially the group of friends and especially the animals! The entire plot of this book was light, fun, cute, second chances and certainly spicy 🌶️ 😮‍💨

First I want to thank the author for the opportunity to read and review this beautiful novel. This lovely story had me with all the emotions. It felt so easy to get invested in Hannah and Ian’s journey. Whether it be healing from the past or the undeniable chemistry they shared, but mostly seeing them connect while checking off her Bucket List together and creating new ones. Wow what a way to get to know someone 🩵 And there’s really nothing like a grand gesture to bring on the watery eyes 🥹. When you read it, you’ll know 🩵

All the characters were lovable and believable, nothing felt forced. They all connected together well. And have to say the swooning and nickname Ian had for Hannah…. Ahhh got me every time 🥹🥵🩵
“ Ian stops me from following them right away, and whispers close to my ear so only I can hear, No need to be jealous, Pretty Girl, I’ve only got eyes for you” 🩵🤩

Shout out to another Canadian girly making things feel good, one book at a time 🩵 Now I can’t wait for book 2 and Liam’s story 🩵

Absolutely adored this book. It was the perfect mix of my favorite tropes. "Brothers"- best friend, hockey, cowboy, reformed Playboy, and self-healing. Add some of the sweetest moments with completing items on Hannah's bucket list, incredible friendships, some cute fur babies, and spice! Oooo the spice!! I'm talking a solid 3.5/5 spice.

Loved the non-traditional form of Levi being a brother figure to Hannah. It was a freshing take on the brothers best friend trope.

My only gripe was that there were a few items we didn't see highlighted on the bucket list. Maybe that was just me being greedy for more sweet moments.

Brinn is a debut author and this book was a solid mix of all my favorite things. This was one of those books I didn't want to put down and when I did I longed to pick back up. I cannot wait to see where her next adventure in the Kissing The Joneses series will take is. I'll be keeping my eye out for more work from Brinn.

Thank you Brinn Gallant for the e-arc! All opinions are my own.

"Bucket List Kiss" by Brinn Gallant was a fun and lighthearted romantic read that kept me smiling throughout. The characters were so lovable and well-crafted that it was easy to root for them, and I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry and charm they brought to the story. It’s a perfect pick for anyone looking for an easy, feel-good romance.

That said, I did find the story to be a bit repetitive at times, which occasionally pulled me out of the narrative. Additionally, after about the 70% mark, the editing seemed to falter, with noticeable spelling and grammar errors, as well as some rushed and choppy scenes. Since I read this as an ARC, I’m hopeful these issues were addressed before the final publication.

Overall, despite some hiccups, this book delivered on its promise of a sweet, romantic escape, and I’m excited to see what Brinn Gallant writes next!

This book was chef’s kiss sweet — a heartwarming story that left me smiling long after the last page. Hannah’s growth was beautiful to witness, both in her own strength and in how she learned to trust and open up again.

Her relationship with Ian was especially moving. It grew with such care and authenticity — never rushed, just two people building something real. Their connection felt earned, filled with quiet moments of trust and vulnerability that made their love story so powerful.

More than just a romance, this was a story of healing and learning to believe in love again. If you love emotional depth, strong character development, and relationships that grow naturally, this book is a must-read.

I’m very grateful to have been given an ARC for the debut novel of this author. What a fun cosy feel good book! It makes me wish I had a teenage bucket list. It touches on some very real and relatable issues, particularly with the Hannah trying to get back to healing herself after an emotionally abusive marriage. I think we can all relate to her character feeling lost in their own life and trying something fun and to get back to who we want to be. Also, the inner monologue of both Hannah and Ian’s was really funny and loved both Hannah and Ian’s friendship with Levi. I read this book so fast and I’m so excited to see more from these characters in the future.

Plus Ian is a cowboy, a hockey player and cat dad all in one?? Swoon.

I received an ARC of Brinn Gallant’s debut novel Bucket List Kiss, and she killed it! This book made you feel warm and cozy, but also had some spice.
Brinn is a Canadian based author, who mentions some of our wonderful provinces. When signing up for this ARC I didn’t realize she was a Canadian author but I loved it even more because of it!

Brinn gave you the best of all worlds, a cowboy, hockey romance and a man who would fall to his knees for you. ;) I don’t want to spoil the story too much!

I loved the growth between Hannah and Ian’s relationship. The trust and tension they build throughout the story will have you totally encapsulated and rushing to get to the next page. The spicy scenes are just enough to hit that itch, but aren’t overbearing, removing you from the story itself.

I am a sucker for cowboy romances, and for hockey romances, so this was a perfect fit for interests. Although these both factor into the story, the message of self healing/love and found family will bring in even those who don’t seek these tropes out.

Bucket List Kiss is the first book in the Kissing the Joneses series.

Hannah is recently divorced after being married to her ex for three years. What started as a happy marriage soon turned into Hannah having to change everything about herself to become someone her ex-husband would just drag around to all his business meetings so she could be there if he needed anything. Ian is a hockey player on the same team as Hannah’s “brother”. He’s a bit of a player and as soon as he see’s Hannah he’s immediately interested.

When Hannah moves in with her “brother” to start over, she finds an old bucket list and decides to try to complete it before her birthday to find herself again. She meets Ian and he agrees to help her. Ian is extremely patient and helps her come out of her shell. Hannah is very hesitant to start a new relationship because of how her ex treated her, but she slowly learns to trust him and fall for him.

I thought the romance was very sweet and I’m interested to learn more about the other siblings.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

Oh my god!!! Where has this book been hiding?!?! ❤️

I bought this book on an impulse because the cover is pretty (who says you can’t judge a book by its cover??)! I was pleasantly surprised that this was a smutt hockey romance (with a cowboy twist) !😍

This is a beautiful story of healing from past relationships and showing that who you let into your inner circle is extremely important.

I don’t normally annotate books, but I just had to for this book one! Ouff, I could have killed her husband on page 2!! So many moments where I thought I hate this character, I love this scene, lol, this is sad. 🖍️📝

The spice was also on point, gradually escalating (similar to a Ali Hazelwood book). There is also a Dicktionary so you know exactly what you are getting. The scenes are a bit short, which could disappoint some readers, but I felt the pace was really good.

I loved that he falls first and how close he is to his family. She has a lot of healing to do and in the beginning this was somewhat annoying. I feel like by the end, she’s more likeable because she’s not a broken shell of a person anymore. I could relate to her experience of getting lost in an unhealthy relationship.

Will they live happily ever after? You’re going to have to read it to find out!! (No spoilers).

This is on the same lever as the Consider me series (which I loved), and it was better than Icebreaker!

I absolutely adored Bucket List Kiss! From the very first page, I was hooked by Hannah’s journey of self-discovery and Ian’s swoon-worthy charm. Hannah’s struggles with self-doubt after her divorce felt so real and relatable, and watching her tackle her bucket list was inspiring. Ian, with his playful personality and hidden depth, is the perfect book boyfriend—sweet, supportive, and oh-so-patient.

The romance between Hannah and Ian is everything I love about Slow Burns: full of chemistry, heartfelt moments, and genuine connection. Their relationship is not just about love but also about rediscovering yourself and healing from the past.

I also loved the supporting cast, especially Levi and the hockey crew, who brought so much warmth and humor to the story. Brinn Gallant’s writing is fresh and engaging, making this debut an absolute delight.

My only wish? A bit more depth to Ian’s backstory and a slightly slower pace toward the end, but those are small things compared to how much I enjoyed this book!

If you’re into heartwarming, feel-good romances with a touch of spice, Bucket List Kiss is for you. I’m already eagerly awaiting Brinn Gallant’s next book—fingers crossed for Levi’s story!

After being the side character in her ex-husband's story, twenty-nine year old Hannah decides she's ready to write her own. Fresh off her painful divorce, she swears off all men and moves halfway across the country to live with her best friend's younger brother, Levi. She resolves to take back control of her life - by finally crossing off every item on her long lost Bucket List. There's only one problem . . . she won't be able to do it alone.
Ian being a hot-shot hockey player with no responsibilities. He isn’t looking for a relationship; not really, anyways. That is, until he meets his best friend’s new roommate. Why not help a gorgeous blonde cross off every item on her Bucket List before the summer ends?
I love how Hannah’s journey after her divorce , discovering her true self and getting her life back on track. Ian was such a sweetheart, i love how sweet and patient he was with her and how he helped her through all of it.
I love a book with an amazing found family and I love how her friend helped and supported her all through it.

A little late getting this review up, but Bucket List Kiss by Brinn Gallant completely stole my heart, and I couldn’t let it go unshared. I received an ARC and devoured the entire book in one day. It’s the kind of story that lingers in the best way.

Hannah’s journey was heartfelt, empowering, and so relatable. Watching her rediscover herself and step into her own again felt beautifully written. And Ian? Absolute dream. Charming, patient, supportive, he brought the perfect mix of sweetness and swoon.

Their chemistry built naturally, and the bucket list theme added a playful touch to their emotional connection. This book has the perfect balance of heart, humor, and just the right amount of heat.

Thank you so much for the ARC, this story was everything I didn’t know I needed. Brinn Gallant, you’ve got a forever reader in me!❤️❤️

Ahhh omg I loved this book!

Thank you so much for the ARC, I know it took me years to finish this book.. (worse book slump of my life 🙄)

Ian and Hannah are so cute omgggg
I need more of them 😩😅

At first it took me a bit to get into this book (book slump) but as time went on I was wishing I was reading this book instead of doing whatever it was I was doing.

If you love a good hockey romance then why aren’t you reading this book already?

Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

Well done Brinn! I really enjoyed this book by one of our own indie authors in this group and I look forward to reading the next ones in this series!

Bucket List Kiss brings us the story of freshly divorced Hannah trying to find her place as a "me" instead of a "we" in her own life, and of hockey hottie Ian who is a kind hearted, golden retriever MMC with no relationship plans.. Until he meets Hannah. Throw in a bucket list, some funny friends and just the right amount of spice and you've got yourself a new book for your TBR list.

Thanks again to Brinn for the advanced copy. It did not disappoint. Full recommend.

good for a debut

It’s really a 3.5 star.

Pros
Great story line
No third act break up
No miscommunication

Cons
The use of ! a lot
Spicy scenes quite short. I always expect the first time for the couple to be at least 1/2 to a full chapter. The build up was great but the actual act was only a few paragraphs.

Otherwise this is a great start to the series. I can see at least 2 interconnected books after this one
